SETTING:

The entire novel nearly took place at

Saint Grace Hospital, where Stella and Will
have both recently been admitted as patients.

CHARACTERS:
Stella - a cystic fibrosis patient who actively uses social media to cope
with her illness and tries to live a normal life.

Will - another CF patient who is at the hospital for a medication trial, in an

attempt to get rid of the bacterial infection he has in his lungs.

Poe- Stella’s best friend who also has cystic fibrosis but
died after they celebrated Will’s birthday.
Nurse Barbara or Barb – the one who took care of Stella, Will
and Poe. She is also the one reminding them to always stay 6 feet
apart from each other.

Abby – Stella’s sister who died because of sky diving.

PLOT

Seventeen-year-old Stella spends most of her time in the hospital as a cystic

fibrosis patient. Her life is full of routines, boundaries and self-control all of which
get put to the test when she meets Will, an impossibly charming teen who has the
same illness. There's an instant flirtation, through restrictions dictate that they must
maintain a safe distance between them. As their connection intensifies, so does the
temptation to throw the rules out the window and embrace that attraction. Love has
no boundaries.

THEME
The main themes in Five Feet Apart are life
and death, love, and rebellion. Life and death:
The novel explores what makes life worth living
through the relationship between Stella and Will,
both of whom have cystic fibrosis, a potentially
deadly disease.

Lessons I Learned in Five Feet Apart

Five Feet Apart is such a nice and very worth to watch movie for me in fact,
I`ve watched it a dozen times already. It is more than just another romance drama
film. It has courage, heart, and it teaches you about the reality of people with
Cystic Fibrosis: missing out on things they love, even being with the person they
love, because of this life-threatening illness. The movie thought me that when you
love, you really need to sacrifice everything just to make you and your partner
happy. Make your love for each other the most out of it so that you will not regret
anything when the time comes that you need to leave each other. Just like what
Will did when Stella almost died. He chose to leave her for them to survive and
live longer because of their disease. Even if it hurts, Will chose to do what is right
but before he left, he made sure that Stella`s wish will be granted which is to see
the lights.

Pride and Prejudice

Written by Jane Austen
Directed by Joe Wright

Movie Cover Book Cover

SETTING:
Pride and Prejudice is set in England
at some point in the very late 1700s-early 1800s.
The exact dates are unclear, but we know the
action takes place some time during the
Napoleonic Wars because Austen references
soldiers and regiments.

CHARACTERS

Elizabeth Bennet - the most intelligent and sensible of the

five Bennet sisters. She is well read and quick-witted, with a tongue that
occasionally proves too sharp for her own good.

Fitzwilliam Darcy - A wealthy gentleman, the master of Pemberle, and the

nephew of Lady Catherine de Bourgh.

Jane Bennet - The eldest and most beautiful Bennet sister.

Georgiana Darcy - Darcy’s sister. She is immensely pretty and just as
shy.

Mary Bennet - The middle Bennet sister, bookish and pedantic.

Catherine Bennet - The fourth Bennet sister. Like Lydia,

she is girlishly enthralled with the soldiers.

Charles Bingley - Darcy’s considerably wealthy best friend.

Mr. Bennet - The patriarch of the Bennet family, a gentleman of modest

income with five unmarried daughters. Mr. Bennet has a sarcastic,
cynical sense of humor that he uses to purposefully irritate his wife.

Mrs. Bennet - A foolish, noisy woman whose only goal in life

is to see her daughters married.

George Wickham - A handsome, fortune-hunting militia officer.

Wickham’s good looks and charm attracted Elizabeth.
Lydia Bennet - The youngest Bennet sister, she is gossipy, immature, and
self-involved.

Mr. Collins - A pompous, generally idiotic clergyman who

stands to inherit Mr. Bennet’s property.

Lady Catherine de Bourgh - A rich, bossy noblewoman.

Charlotte Lucas - Elizabeth’s dear friend.

PLOT
Pride and Prejudice follows the turbulent relationship between Elizabeth
Bennet, the daughter of a country gentleman, and Fitzwilliam Darcy, a rich
aristocratic landowner. They must overcome the titular sins of pride and prejudice
in order to fall in love and marry.
How did the Structures Highlight the Theme?
Through the characters, plot and setting, the selection became one of the best
books published ever. The characters have different vibes that makes the story
more interesting to read and also the characters that made the movie even more
interesting to watch. Austen also chose a good place to make the story happen
which is in England that has a lot of beautiful structures and places to shoot the
movie. It also has a great and complex plot, and plenty of suspense of the mostly
restrained, emotional variety.

How the Author Achieved her Purpose

Jane Austen was a reader and also her family is. Her frequent target was
characters’ choices of books so when she wrote Pride and Prejudice, her goal was
to persuade her readers in reading her story and to leave a remarkable thought in
them. She made this all possible because Austen gave a brave and good heroes and
heroines, despicable villains, a decent dose of comic relief, a great and complex
plot, and plenty of suspense of the mostly restrained, emotional variety.
MISSION 1:
1. The theme in a story is its underlying message, or 'big idea.'
2. Character – the life giver of a story.
3. Plot - a plot is the actual story–what happens, when, how, why, and what’s the result.
4. Setting - The setting is when and where your story takes place.
5. Persuasive Writing - to convince a reader to believe an idea or to take a course of action.
6. Narrative - the writer aims to entertain the reader by trying to tell a story.
7. An author’s purpose may be to amuse the reader, to persuade the reader, to inform the reader,
or to satirize a condition.
