REVIEW OF THE LESSON

What is Book Review?

What are the four main elements included in a book review?

ACTIVITY 1.

Let us see if you can still remember your lesson on changing active to passive
voice and vice versa. This skill will be very useful in our next lesson.

Demi will present the results of the Passive

study at the Association for
Supervision and Curriculum
Development conference.
The essay were submitted to the Active
professor by the students.

ACTIVITY 2
Write a simple literature review about gaming addiction. Your work will be
graded according to the rubric that i provided.

B. Development Now that you have refreshed your memory, let us talk about literature
review in which your knowledge about active and passive voice will come in
handy.
Literature review examines a source in a systematic way for necessary
information related to a research problem.
The major purpose of literature review is to determine what has already
been done that relates to your topic. It will also help you identify what needs to

be done.
Ideally, a good literature review should present the frontiers of knowledge
in the research area: what is known based on previous studies, what has yet to
be found out, or what can be investigated further.
The following are the sources that can be used for literature review:
journal articles
monographs
digital databases
empirical studies
conference proceedings
historical records
statistical handbooks
articles
theses and dissertations
government reports

These are the steps in writing a literature review:

1. You must search for relevant literature. You have to choose a focus
and develop a central question to direct your search. This question has
to be answerable without collecting original data. Never forget to make
a list of keywords that are connected to your topic.
2. Evaluate and select sources. Make sure the sources you use are
credible and make sure to read any landmark studies and major
theories in your topic. You must also take notes and cite your sources to
avoid plagiarism. Plagiarism is copying the works from other people
without crediting or citing them and their works.
3. Identify themes, debates, and gaps. Look for themes or concepts that
occur across the literature. Look for trends and patterns, or what can be
more or less popular topic over time. Look for debates, conflicts, and
contradictions; where do sources disagree? Look for gaps; see what
can be missing from the literature. Are there weaknesses that need to
be addressed?
4. Outline your literature review's structure. The usual approach that is
being used right now is thematic wherein you find some recurring
central themes you can organize your literature review into subsections
that address different aspects of the topic. For example, if you are
reviewing literature about inequalities in migrant health outcomes, key
themes might include health care policy, language barriers, cultural
attitudes, legal status, and economic access.
5. Write your literature review. Like any other academic paper, your
literature review should have an introduction, body, and a conclusion. A
stand-alone literature review gives some background on the topic and
its importance. Discuss the scope of the literature you will review (the
time period of your sources) and state your objective.

review"https://www.scribbr.com/
dissertation/literature-review. 2019)

C. Engagement ACTIVITY 3
Now that you know how to write a literature review, it is time to make
your own. Look for at least three articles that talk about COVID-19. Write a one-
page literature review using the thematic approach. Please use a separate
paper for your answer. Use the rubric below as your guide in writing your
literature review.
