They say it’s what’s inside that counts. All true. But with the Rabbit,
what really counts is under the hood – a 2.5L, 170 hp, 5-cylinder
engine that was born and bred on the autobahn.

Anyway you shift it – 5-speed manual transmission or available

6-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic – the Rabbit
is geared up to go. And that’s not all – with innovative
German-engineered advancements like the electromechanical
steering system, you can get out of tight spots as quickly as you
got into them.

And we don’t stop there. But you will, thanks to ABS 4-wheel disc
brakes, and traction control. On the other hand, you’ll want to
stop as little as possible given the comfortable ride offered by
independent front suspension and multilink rear suspension.

Space, the final frontier? Not so with the Rabbit. We’ve broken the mould and reconfigured space in
so many ways you’d think we discovered a new dimension. With 0.40 cubic metres of cargo space,
which can be expanded to 1.30 cubic metres thanks to 60/40 split-folding rear seats, you can take just
about anything with you. Remember that grandfather clock you’ve always had your eye on? No need
to have it delivered.

Of course, there’s more. The 5-door model features a backseat armrest that opens to form a handy
pass-through. The trunk features 4 tie-down hooks so you can fasten loose items. Plus (there’s always
a plus) you get two convenient 12V power outlets.

Airbags deploy down the roofline from the A-pillar to the C-pillar to help reduce head and upper torso injury in the

Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR) and Engine Braking Assist (EBA)

Help improve handling and prevent skidding in slippery conditions.

Crash-optimized Front End

Designed to sacrifice the front of the vehicle in the event of a serious crash. The engine bay and structure of the car crumple
in a pre-determined way to help keep the integrity of the cabin intact.

Electronic Stabilization Programme (ESP)

You never know what’s up ahead. Black ice, potholes – the road is full of surprises. Optional ESP helps keep you on the straight and
narrow by detecting slippery road conditions and reacting to sudden maneuvers.

Safety Belt Pre-tensioners

In the event of an accident, the safety belts are automatically tightened in a fraction of a second.

Crash Active Head Restraints

VW calls them crash active head restraints because in the event of a rear-end collision, the head restraint will automatically close the
gap separating it from the occupant’s head, to reduce the chance of whiplash-type injuries.
