I. Title: "Building a Community Garden for Sustainable Livelihood and Environmental

Awareness"

II. Introduction:

Our community in Barangay San Juan is faced with a growing concern for food security
and environmental awareness. With the proliferation of commercialized and highly
processed foods, the community has become more susceptible to health issues related to
their diet. In addition, the lack of green spaces in the area has contributed to the
degradation of our environment. In response to these issues, we propose to establish a
community garden that promotes sustainable livelihood and environmental awareness
among our residents.

III. Objectives:
 To establish a community garden that provides fresh and organic produce for the community's
consumption
 To promote sustainable livelihood by educating and empowering the community on the
principles of organic gardening and entrepreneurship
 To raise awareness and encourage a sense of responsibility towards the environment through
eco-friendly practices and waste management

IV. Methods and Activities:

 Conduct a survey to determine the interest and participation of the community in the project
 Establish a core group of volunteers who will oversee the planning and implementation of the
project
 Partner with local government units and NGOs to solicit financial and technical support
 Conduct training and workshops on organic gardening and entrepreneurship for the community
 Organize regular community events and seminars on environmental awareness and waste
management
 Implement a waste segregation system and composting practices within the garden
2nd Academic Year 2023 - 2024

V. Expected Outcomes:

 Increased availability of fresh and organic produce in the community

 Improved food security and health outcomes of residents through healthy eating habits
 Enhanced ecological awareness and appreciation of the environment among the community
 Empowered and sustainable livelihood opportunities for participating individuals and groups

VI. Budget:
(this should be within the student capacity, please discourage spending big amount of money)

 Seeds and seedlings: PHP 5,000

 Garden supplies and tools: PHP 6,000
 Training and workshop materials: PHP 10,000
 Operational expenses (utilities and transportation): PHP 5,000
 Contingency fund: PHP 4,000
 Total budget: PHP 30,000

VII. Conclusion:

The community garden project is a significant step towards the empowerment of the
residents in Barangay San Juan. It provides a venue for individuals to develop new skills and
knowledge, fosters a sense of responsibility towards the environment, and ultimately
contributes to the sustainable development of the community. We look forward to the
support and participation of our fellow citizens and partner organizations in this important
endeavor.
