Cornish Pasties

I'm having a fantastic time here in the UK and I thought I'd write (1) ________ tell you
about something I've eaten which I loved!
As you know, I'm in a place called Cornwall, (2) ________ is in the southwest. They
have something called a Cornish Pasty. It looks like a parcel made of pastry and the
pastry holds together a mixture of meat and vegetables. Cornish pasties have (3)
_________interesting history. In the past, they were the basic meal for Cornish miners
who worked underground digging for tin. After a hard morning's work the miners would
sit down to eat (4) __________ lunch. But because of the job they were doing, their

they could eat the meat and vegetables before throwing away the dirty pastry.

it! You can get Cornish pasties anywhere in the UK but I've been told the best ones are
in Cornwall.

Rafael Nadal
Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal ________(1) known as being the nice guy of tennis.

Pablo Picasso
Pablo Ruiz Picasso (October 25 1881 – April 8 1973) was a very prolific Spanish

known as the co-founder of cubism. A work of art is cubist when the artist opts to break

Steven Spielberg
Steven Allan Spielberg (born December 18, 1946) is an American filmmaker.

raised in Haddon Township, New Jersey. Spielberg studied at Saratoga High School. He
went to California State University, Long Beach.

The Republic of Texas


The Republic of Texas was a sovereign state in North America (1)____________ the
United States and Mexico that existed from 1836 to 1845. It began on March 2 1836,
when the people living in Texas declared themselves independent (2) ____________

captured at a battle near the site of Houston.

Coldplay’s first hit
