DETAILEDLESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 4

I. Objectives
A. Content Standard At the end of the lesson, the learners will be able to:
- Explain the directions given;
- appreciates the importance of following directions in
different authentic texts like medical prescriptions and
recipes, and;
- write 3-4 sentences in giving sequential step-by step
directions
B. Performance Standard learners will be challenged to listen closely, read carefully, and
remain focused throughout different activities and will learn the
importance of listening and following directions.
C. Learning The learners should be able to interpret direction in authentic text i.e.,
Competencies/Objectives medical prescriptions. EN4RC-IVb-2
The learners should be able to write 3-4 sentences in giving
directions. EN4WC-IVb-2

Conduct a short review on the previous topic about reality and
fantasy.

Let us see if you really understood and remembered our last


topic. I will give you a placard. After I read the statement and
say Go, you will raise the letter R if it is reality and F if it is
fantasy.

Before we start our lesson, I have here a picture and let us help
the boy to finish what his doing.

Base on the activity we do a while ago, what did you notice?


Our lesson for today is all about how to follow a direction in different authentic text.

Authentic text is anything written or giving correct directions in “real-world purposes” such as;
to explain, persuade, inform, or entertain.

Example: giving a doctors’ prescription or a simple instruction given by your teacher.

h. Presentation

Do you still remember the story The Poor Bunny’s Magic Present?
I will tell you a secret. There is something inside the bag which has not
yet been given by the bunny to the animals. Let’s find out what it is. Let
us read the continuation of the story.
As we read the story, we encountered the unfamiliar words. Let us
identify the meaning of the underlined words. Choose the letter of the
correct answer

What do you think the Bunny give to the Squirrel?


Let us read what is written of the piece of paper that Bunny give to
Squirrel.

What Bunny gave to the Squirrel is called a prescription. It is an


important piece of paper from the doctor that has a list of the medicines.

Who are the characters in the story?


- The Bunny and the Squirrel.
What is the medicine that prescribed?
- MAGIC SYRUP
How long will the squirrel’s baby take the medicine?
- 6 DAYS
How many times a day must he take the medicine?
- 3 times a day
What do you think is the best time for him to take the medicine?
- Morning, Afternoon and Evening
- After breakfast, after lunch and before sleep time
If the squirrel follows the instructions written on the prescription, what will
happen to his baby?
- The baby will get better

Just like what Squirrel did, we should read the directions and take some
important details. We should need to know how to interpret directions,
understand the directions carefully and take note of the important words.

For another Example is a traffic light, there have three important


rules in crossing the street if it has a traffic light that you to remember.
First is the RED light, it means?
- Stop
YELLOW light means?
- Slow down or get Ready to stop
GREEN light means?
- Go
So, if you want to cross the street but the light is on red.
What will you do?
- Stop
What will you do to cross the street safely?
- Wait for the traffic light will turns GREEN.
