TEN MAJOR DOCTRINES

SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY

CLASS NOTE

What is Theology?

The word” Theology” comes from the two Greek word –“Theos” means
“God” and “Logos” means “Word or rational or thought”. Therefore, Theology
means “study about God”. For the finite human being it is hard to know about
infinite God, but God has revealed Himself through His words and His son.
Scriptures teaches that God has revealed Himself so that we can know about Him,
Deut 29:29; Jn14:7; 17:3; 1Jn 5:20

What is Systematic Theology?

A Theology was taken from the wide field of the scripture, and arranged in
order for the better understanding of the students.

What are the ten Doctrines ?

1 Bibliology Study about Bible

BIBLIOLOGY
(Study about the Bible)

I. Introduction

A Terminology

1 Bibliology. The term “Bibliology” is made up of two Greek words namely

“Biblion” means a “roll” or a “book” and “logos” means “word”. Therefore
Bibliology means the word concerning the study of the Bible. It is placed first in
the study of Systematic Theology because this is the authoritative source of all
other Doctrines.
2 Definition:
The Bible is the written word of God, in which God revealed Himself, His person,
His work and His will for mankind and is the rule of our faith and practices.

This Definition has three parts of The Bible

I. The origin: It is of Divine Origin. It comes from God and it is the written word
of God.
II. The Content: God Himself revealed His person, His work and His will for
Mankind
III. The purpose: It is the rule of our faith and practices. In other words, our faith
and practices should be based on the scriptural principles, because this is the only
authoritative revelation from God.

B. Different Designation or names of the Bible

II. THE BIBLE IS GOD’S WORD

Anyone who read the Bible will soon discover the unusual nature of this
wonderful book. It is not a just religious book, but it is the word of God written in
human language by human authors. Two lines of evidences are commonly used to
prove the bible is God’s word.
A). Internal Evidences-The facts found in the bible itself and its claims shows that
it is the word of God.
B). External Evidences- The facts outside of the Bible.

A). Internal Evidences:

1). Claims of the Bible: Scores of scriptural passages in the Bible indicates that
Bible is God’s word. The following Scripture references are clearly bear the
testimony to this: Deut. 6:6-9, 17-18: josh 1:8 ; 8:32-35; 2 Sam. 22:31 ; Ps. 1:2 ;
12:6 ,19:7-11 , 93:5,119:9,11,18,89-93, 104-105, 130; Prov. 30:5-6; Isa:55:10-
11 ;Matt 5:17-19,22:29; Mk:13-31, Luke 16:17; John:2:22, 5:25. Acts17:11.
Rom10:17; I Pet 23:25; II Pet 3; 15-16; Rev 1:2, 22:18
The writers of the Old Testament, New Testament and Christ assumes that
The Scriptures were Gods word. Thus, the Internal evidences of the Scriptures
prove that Bible is God’s word.
2). profound Teachings of the Bible
The profound teachings of the Bible on various subjects prove that it is the
revelation of God and therefore it is God’s word.
a). The Doctrine of God
The God who is revealed in the Bible is far different from the gods of the
heathens. Most of them are depicted in their mythological writings as cruel,
wicked, and fearsome beings. On the other hand, the God of the Bible is personal,
holy, loving, just, all wise, all powerful and gracious person.
b). The doctrine of man
The Bible reveals the true picture of man, that he has an immortal soul. He
was the direct creation of God not evolution.
c). Salvation of mankind
The Bible is the only authoritative record that speaks clearly of the plan of
salvation for mankind. It speaks the eternal punishment of the sinner but reveals
the love of God and the way of salvation which any simple mind can understand.
d). The moral teaching of the Bible
The Bible points out sin and Gods displeasure over sin. No one would
become wicked by reading and practicing the Bible. The Ten commandment of the
bible speaks the high moral life of man.

3
B). External Evidences

The certain characteristic of the Bible proves that Bible is God’s word, not
the product of sinful human.
1. The influence and Publication of the Bible.
The Bible is the only book that has ever been published and in many
languages. After the printing press was invented the first page was printed that was
from the Bible. Though the Bible is the old book it has never became outdated.
2. The Continuity of Biblical revelation
The Bible has been written by over 40 authors living over 1500 years of
time yet it is a single book. The continuity of the Bible can be seen in the history
which is a strong proof saying that Bible is not an ordinary book.
3. The Extent of revelation
Bible is a book with such wonderful truth that cannot be found in any other
books. Bible speaks of the past, present and future with nothing wanting.
4. The subject matter of the Bible
The supernatural character of the book has seen in the fact that it deals with
the unknown and unknowable things.
5. The Bible as Literature.
Considered as the literature the Bible is supreme. It contains history, prose,
drama, poetry and all high quality of language.

III. REVELATION
A. Definition
Revelation is that of God whereby He revealed Himself or communicates
truth to man, whereby He makes manifest to His creatures that which could not be
known in any other way.
In other word, it is the act of God by which HE communicated to men truths
that were previously unknown.
The Greek word “apocalypses” means an uncovering or “unveiling”. It is
used in the case of God revealing His mind to the believer (Phi. 3:15).
B. The process of revelation
Everything in the Bible was not necessarily revelation for the human
writers. Certain things were known to them and therefore, they wrote them from
their own experience as they were guided by the Holy Spirit. For example, the
events in the book of Exodus, and the wilderness journey were very well known to
Moses. They were not revelation to him as he wrote Pentateuch.

However, the whole Bible is revelation to us. We could not have known the
facts in the Bible in any other way. By the direction of the Holy Spirit God

4
communicated man what He wanted us to know. The Bible is God’s revelation
and therefore, it is His word. No matter in what language it might to, the Bible is
God’s word “Because it is the Revelation of God”.
C. Kind of revelation
There are two kinds of revelation

i. General revelation or natural revelation

God has revealed Himself in nature, history, conscience, experience and in
several other ways.
ii. Special revelation or supernatural revelation;
God has revealed Himself through incarnation and through the scriptures.
i. General revelation or natural revelation
a. God has revealed Himself through nature:
God’s power Gen.1:1-2; Wisdom Job. 12; order Acts 12:17, Glory Ps. 19:1-2 Etc.
However, it must be recognized that this revelation is partial cannot reveal
all that God is, such as love, etc. but man can see at it a revelation of God and
recognize form it that there is a personal creator, designer and upholder of the
universe.
b. God has revealed Himself through His providence.
(Dan. 2:31-45; 9:24-27; Rom. 11:13-29. This declares that God is in History and
in facts, that History becomes history. To the Christian, however, the great
promise of God’s providential guidance can be seen in Rom. 8:28.
c. God has revealed Himself through the miraculous acts. (Deut. 4:32-
35; Joshua 4:23-24, Ex. 5:1-2; 7:9-14). In the miraculous and supernatural acts of
God, He revealed His Divine power and purpose. The miracles served to accredit
the messengers of God and to show that Christ was God incarnate. John 20:30-31;
Mark 16:14-17. In miracles it is also seen that God is the true God.
d. God has revealed Himself through the nature and constitution of
Man. (Gen. 1:26-27; Is. 29:16). In this revelation we see that man is like God but
not of the same essence. For Christ alone, is the express image of God. Yet when
God revealed Himself finally and completely, He came in the form of man.
e. God has revealed Himself through primal revelation and direct
communication (Gen. 6:13; 7:1; Jer. 1:4; Deut. 34:10; Gen. 14:18-20. in this
manner God spoke in primitive times to Adam, Cain, Enoch, Noah, Abraham,
Isaac, Jacob, etc.
f. God has revealed Himself through the life and experience of God’s
people. Life: II Cor. 3: 2-3; 4:6-11; I Pet.2:9. Experience: II Tim 1:12; cf. John
14:21. The life of God as it is reproduced in His people become manifest to others
and thus forms a revelation of God. In this revelation there is contained a rather
full expression of the moral character of goodness and men thus see the goodness
of God and His love as God’s people express it.

5
ii. Special revelation
1. God has revealed Himself through the Incarnation.
Matt 1:23; 11:27; John 1:4, 18, 12:45; 14:6-9; Heb 1:2-3; Col 2:9; I Tim
3:16. In the Incarnation we have the Perfect, complete and Final revelation of God.
In Christ there is given to us the answers to the questions:
What is God is like? There is nothing lacketh in Him because “in Him is
the fullness of God” Col 2:9
In Him is revealed the power of God John 3:2
In Him the glory of God John 1:14
In Him the life of God I John 1:1-3
In Him the Love of God John 3:16
Thus, Christ is to us the living word, the Eternal Logos. Still there is limitation in
this revelation from the human stand point of view, because of the finiteness of
human mind that day by day we know him better and shall ultimately see Him in
glory I Cor. 13:12; I John 3:2.
2. God has revealed Himself through the Bible. Heb 1:1; II Tim 3:15;
John 5:39; Luke 24:27,44. 45. This method is the important one for the point of
study, because this is the guide and truth through which we can consider the other
Doctrines.
The value of this revelation is limited however by the inadequacy of human
language, the problems of literacy of men and translation. This is the special
revelation that God has revealed more clearly and with us in a written form.

The purpose of Special Revelation: That Gods specific will(desire) and ways
(plan for the ages) might be understood by man.
God spoke that we may “know Him” I John 5:20
God spoke that we may “trust Him” I John 5:13
God spoke that we may “glorify Him” II Cor. 1:20

There are certain characteristics of this revelation (Bible)

1. It has for its theme “redemption” II Tim 3:15
2. It is progressive in its development
3. It is Partial. It does not reveal that entire God is or that through Christ we
shall finally know of God.
4. It is Final: nothing to be added to it.
5. It is Infallible. It is the written word of God and is given by the
inspiration of God II Tim 3:16
6. It is the source of our knowledge of God and the content of Divine truth.

6
IV. INSPIRATION

A. The word Inspiration

The word Inspiration is found in II Tim 3:16, “All scripture is given by the
Inspiration of God”. The Greek word for Inspiration is “THEOPNEOTOS”, which
is compound of two words. “Theo” means God and “pneutos” is a form of the verb
“pneo” means to “breathe”. Therefore “Theopneotos” it is an adjective which
emphasizes the quality OF THE SCRIPTURE. Every scripture is God breathed.
The idea is that as the prophets speak it was God was speaking through
them. God spoke through them as they wrote. The source of all that they wrote
was God

B. The Definition of Inspiration.

Inspiration: It is the superintendence of the human authors so that using
their individual Personalities; they composed and recorded without error, God’s
revelation to man in the words of the original autograph.
In other words, God superintended but did not dictate the material; he used
the human authors and their own styles.

C. The Manner and Extent of Inspiration.

The manner is “how” the word of God is inspired? And the extent is “how
far” the word of God is inspired.
1. The manner of Inspiration:
According to John 16:13; Acts 28:25 and II Pet 1:21, the Holy Spirit is the
agent of Inspiration. This agent, the Holy Spirit guided the writers of the Bible to
write in their own individual styles and without error or omission.
According to (John 14:26) we know that Bible is without error and
complete. Everything we need to know about God and spiritual matter is found in
the Bible.
2. The Extent of Inspiration:
The extent of Inspiration answered to the question that, Is the whole Bible is
inspired? Is the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation is inspired? The answer
can be expressed in four different words. Those are Plenary, Verbal, Infallible and
Inerrancy.
a). Plenary: This word comes from a Greek word PLEROS means full and
sufficient. This term gives us the idea that, it is a full and sufficient influence of
the Holy Spirit extended to all parts of the scripture.
b). Verbal: It says that the writers every word what they used is equally inspired.
c). Infallible: The thoughts which God intended to reveal to us have been
conveyed with infallible accuracy, that the writers were organs of God in such as

7
sense that what they said is what God said. Therefore it is authoritative and
binding it is beyond objection or debate.
d). Inerrancy: The scripture is without error in any of its accounts for God chose
His own words. The Bible is without error form Genesis to Revelation. The
statements are recorded true to the facts. Truth is not changed to falsehood or
falsehood to truth.

C. Various theories of Inspiration

There are various theories of inspiration because all the student to not
believe the same degree of inspiration of the word of God. Following are some
prominent ones.
1. Natural Inspiration
This theory claims that is no supernatural or mysterious inspiration to
Biblical writer but there was inspired as like modern novelist, dramatist, poets etc.
This theory rejects the agency of the Holy Spirit in inspiration.
2. Universal Christian inspiration or illumination
According to this theory the inspiration of the Bible writer was the same as
the Christian of every age as they read and understand the scripture. They are not
greater than the illumination of an ordinary Christian.
3. Mechanical or Dictation theory
This theory ignores the human instrumentality in the writing of the
scriptures altogether, and claims that the writers were passive instruments, mere
machines, just as insensible to what they were accomplishing as is the spring of
the harp or lyre to the play of the musician.
4. Concept or thought inspiration
This theory claims that only the concepts or thoughts, of men were given by
inspiration. It will be examined more fully later.
5. Verbal inspiration
Here it is claimed that the very words of scripture were given by the Holy
Spirit that the writers were not left absolutely to themselves in the chose of words
they should use.
6. Partial inspiration
The favorite way of expressing this theory is the bible contains the word of God.
This statement implies that it contains much that is not the word of God,
that is, that is not inspired. A serious question at once arises; who is to decide what
is and what is not inspired? Who is to be judge of so vital a question what part is
inspired, and what part is not who can tell. Such a theory leaves man in awful
uncertainty.
7. Plenary or full Inspiration:
This is the opposite of the partial inspiration. It holds all scripture to be
equally inspired. It bases in its claim 2 Tim 3:16.

8
D). Evidences of the Inspiration of the bible:
.

1 Internal Evidences [Facts within the Bible]

2 External Evidences [Facts outside of the Bible]

Though the Bible is written through different ages by different people but
the subject is the product of one mind. Many truths are presented in simple and
figurative form in the first part of the Bible but later it was clarify in reality.

9
Bible is equally effective in every age and with any nation or people the
bible offers all that one need, whatever is age or condition. People of all races and
culture find in the Bible the message they need as it is written very specially for
them.

B. External Evidence.
Evidences that are found outside of the Bible are called external evidences.

C. The non-canonical book or “Apocrypha”
The Roman Catholic bible contains 14 Books that are not included in the
King James Old Testament. Those books are known as Apocrypha.
The word Apocrypha means “hidden”.
D. What are the reasons, the 14 Apocrypha books were not canonized.
1. They were written after the tie of Ezra.

11
THEOLOGY PROPER
(Study about God)

I. Introduction

The word “Theology” is composed of two Greek words “Theos” means

“God” and the logos means “word”. Thus the word theology means, the word
concerning God or study about God. The only source from which a person can
study about God is the Holy Scripture in which God revealed Himself.

A. Definition

1. Scriptural Descriptions

God is spirit Jn. 4:24

God is Light1Jn 1:5
God is Love I Jn. 4:16
God is a consuming fire Heb. 12:29
Above some Descriptions are not the Definition but how the Scripture
describe the nature and character of God.

2. Theological Definition: It is Impossible to give a adequate Definition for God,

but here some of the theologians who tried to Define God in their finite mind.
JOHN HOWE: God is an eternal, uncaused, Independent necessary being, that
hath power, life, wisdom, goodness and all Excellency in highest perfection, in
and itself.

12
WESTMINISTER CATECHISM: God is a Spirit, Eternal, unchangeable, in His
being, wisdom, power, Holiness, Justice, goodness and truth.
AGUSTUS STRONG: God is the Infinite and Perfect Spirit, in whom all things
have their source, support and end.

B. The Existence of God

1. The False system of Theology
a). Deism: This Theory holds that God created the Universe , but He is not the
sustainer. In other words, God is the maker, but not the keeper of the universe. The
universe is a mechanism that operates by its own power.
b). Atheism: This group denies the Existence of God. An Atheist is a person who
does not believe that there is a God.
c). Skepticism: This term means a doubt or disbelief in the existence of God,
especially the God of the Scripture.
d). Dualism: This group believes that there are two gods namely good god and
god of evil or Satan.

e). Tritheism: This theory holds that there are three gods existing in this world.
f).Polytheism: “poly” means many .This view holds that in the existence of many
gods.
g). Pantheism: “pan” means all or every . According to this view every thing is
God and God is in every thing.
h). Agnosticism: “agnostos” means unknown. This view believes in the existence
of God but He cannot be known. According to them even thought of God is
beyond human comprehension.

2. The true evidences of the existence of God

a . From the Scripture

Biblical Explanation .The Bible is the only authoritative record from which
we receive the clear revelation concerning g God. The Scripture does not try to
prove the existence of God but declares that the knowledge of god is universal.
Rom 1:19-21; 28, 32; 2:15 .The Bible begins with the idea that there is a God Gen
1:1.
Christological Revelation Jesus Christ revealed God to man Jn. 1:18. In Him was
God manifested to the sinful mankind. He and His life prove the existence of God.
Prophetical Declaration Hundreds of Bible prophecies written centuries before
came to fulfillment proves the fact that there is a God and His words are true.
b. From reason [Arguments or Intellectual
1. God consciousness in man: There is a universal belief in the
existence of God that comes from within a man. All races of the world know

13
that there is a God though they do not worship the true God. This God
consciousness of man is born in him
2. The cosmological arguments: “cosmos” means world. As we see
the world, one natural question comes in the minds, “how did it comes to being?”
there is a cause and effect for everything. Therefore there should be a cause or
power behind this world. There must be a maker or creator.

3. Teleological arguments:The word “Telos” means end or design. The

design or the arrangement of the universe proves the fact that there is an intelligent
designer behind it. That designer is God.

4 Anthropological Argument. The Greek word “anthropous”

means, a man. This arguments is based upon mans intellectual, moral and
emotional qualities. From where did he get these qualities? Man must be a direct
creation of a greater intellectual being – God.

c. From Experiences: The transformation in the lives of believers when they

are saved proves that there is a God who changes the lives. The fact that prayers
are answered which also attest to the existence of God.

C. THE PERSONALITY OF GOD:

God is a person, one possessing self –conscience, Emotion, will and power.
Many think that God is a force, a power or a influence. But it is impossible for a
man to have fellowship with force or an influence. Only two people can have
fellowship with each other. Therefore God is person and his personality can be
seen through various ways.
1. Through Divine names and Titles.
a. Elohim: The word Elohim is translated as God, which found over 2300
times in the Bible. This is an official title of God. It has the idea of being the
strong one and the one to be feared or reverenced. Elohim is the plural form of
which the singular is the “El” found around 250 times in the Bible.

14
CHRISTOLOGY
(Study about Christ)

Purpose of the course:

Christianity is Christ. Salvation is Christ. Eternal life is Christ. The Believers

hopes for the future and strength for the present depends on Jesus Christ.
Therefore it is essential to know who Jesus is, since He is the foundation for every
thing we believe.
Two fold purpose:
1 To give the student a truly biblical understanding of who Jesus is
2 To exalt Christ as Savior and Lord.

The Term Christology:

The term Christology came from CHRISTOS and LOGOS which means “the
word concerning Christ” or “the Doctrine of Christ”.

I. NAMES AND TITLES OF CHRIST

A. JESUS
The name Jesus is the Greek form for the Hebrew word Joshua meaning
“Jehovah our Savior”. Jesus is the personal name of the Lord. It is His earthly
name, the name under which He born, lived, died and resurrected.

15
The name Jesus is found in the four gospel 612 times .the name Jesus is
more prominent before His death, burial and resurrection while Christ is more
prominent after.
The name Jesus is used more in the gospel to emphasize the life and
humility of Lord Jesus, but Christ is frequently mentioned in the epistles to
emphasize His teachings and His Deity. Believers never merely called Him Jesus
but the men of the world never called Him Christ.
B. CHRIST
The name Christ came from the Greek word CHRISTOS means “the
anointed one” or “messiah” .This is the official title of the son of God found 56
times in the gospel. Matt. 1:16; John 1:41; 4:25
It refers to His three anointed offices, Prophet-acts3:22-23; priest-Heb. 4:14-
15; King- Luke 1:31, 33
C. LORD
This is Christ’s title of Deity that of authority .Lord translated from “kurios”
a title of the Lord Jesus as master luke23:42; Rom 10:9; Eph 6:9; Col 4:1
D. JESU CHRIST
This is the Title of the Lord which is the combination of the personal name
and the official title. The emphasis is on the first word Jesus, who He was and He

II. THE PRE-EXISTENCE OF CHRIST

17
A. Definition of the Christ’s pre-existence:
Jesus did not begin to be at his physical conception, but literally existed in
Heaven with God the father and the Holy Spirit prior to His Incarnation. In the
other word Jesus existed before His birth in Bethlehem.

B. Proof of Christ’s pre-existence.

1. New Testament Evidences:
a). John The Baptist bore the witnesses to Christ’s pre-Existence when he said ,
“He [Jesus] was before me John 1:15,30.

b). Jesus Christ testified of His own pre-existence.

Jesus said that “He came down from heaven” Jn. 6:33, 50, 41, 42

III. THE INCARNATION OF CHRIST

A. The Meaning of Incarnation.

1 Definition.
The word Incarnation comes from a Latin word meaning “enfleshment”,
thus when we speak of the Incarnation of Christ Jesus, we mean the enfleshment
of God, - God manifested in the flesh.
The word was made Flesh Jn1:14

18
Made of the seed of David according to the flesh Rom1:3
God was manifest in the flesh 1Tim 3:16
The Incarnation refers to the gracious voluntary act of the son of God in
taking upon Himself a human body and a human nature.

2 Distinction in Incarnation.
Christ Incarnation involved a change in His position and state. The Humility
of Christ as evident by the following changes He underwent in becoming man.
i). Change in His dwelling place
[From the presence of the Father to the presence of man Jn6:51]
ii). A Change in His possessions
[From riches to poverty-Luke 8:59; II Cor. 8:9]
iii). A change in His reputation among men
[From glory to lowly- Jn17:5; Phil 2:6-7]
iv). A change in His position
[From equality with God to servant hood Matt. 20:26-28]
v). A change in his form [bodily appearance] Phil 2:6-8.
All the changes were temporary except the form of man what he took.
He will be appearing in the glorified form for eternity Acts 7:54, 55; Rev 1:17, 18,
5:6; 22:16
None of the changes affect the Divine nature of Lord Jesus Christ.

B. The Means of Incarnation: [virgin birth]

1 The virgin birth nothing to do with the origin of Christ or the beginning of
His existence, rather it concerns only His entrance into the Human race.
2 The Entrance of Jesus into this life was totally distinct from that of ordinary
man. The scripture writers carefully avoided using the words like “born” and
“conceived” which refers to origin.
John 1:14…made flesh and dwelt among us
John 3:16….He has His only begotten son………
John 3:7…God sent………
John 6:51…..came down from Heaven……….
1 Cor. 15:47…..the lord from heaven…….
Gal 4:4…….God sent forth His son made of woman.

3 The Virgin birth is foretold in O.T

1. A hint- Gen 3:15…the seed of the woman
2. A symbol- Is 53:2-“root out of a dry ground”
3. A prophecy-Is 7:14 “behold a virgin shall conceive and bear a son
The virgin in Isaiah’s prophecy is a type of the Virgin Mary, who by
the Holy Spirit, miraculously conceived Jesus Christ. [Ryrie study bible]

19
4 The virgin birth is fulfilled in the N.T.
a) Proofs from the Gospels of the virgin birth.
Two of the gospel writer Mathew and Luke records the full account
of the birth of Lord Jesus Christ. Though both accounts are different both agree
with one fact that Jesus Christ is the perfect man born in the line of King David.
1) The Virgin birth was announced to Mary and Joseph .Luke 1:26-32; Matt.1:18-
25
2) Mary was a virgin….Matt1:18, 23; Luke 1:27, 34
3) Mary was betrothed to Joseph… Matt 1:18; Luke 1:27
4) Mary was found pregnant before her weeding Matt1:20; Luke 1:35

b) Proofs from the Epistles of the virgin birth:

1) Christ assumed the physical body from Mary not Joseph. Gal 4:4...made of
woman not man
2) Christ came from Heaven into the world I Tim. 1:15; Heb 10:5; Rom 8:3
3) Christ was sinless...Heb 4:15; II Cor. 5:21; Heb 7:26
The virgin birth was a one- time, never to be repeated miracle Just as
God created Eve without the reproductive elements of man ,He supernaturally
implanted His Son ,[in seed form]into the womb of a woman without the
reproductive elements of man.

c) The importance of the virgin birth

1) It validates Christ’ claim to posses the Deity.
2) It validates the scriptures testimony of Christ’s sinless
3) It validates Christ’s right to seat in the throne of David

C. The main purpose of the Incarnation.

1. To reveal the invisible God Jn. 1:18
Jesus Christ is the exposition of God, the revealer of God
2. To fulfill the Davidic Covenant [Is 11:1, 10; Jer. 23:5-6; Acts 2:29-31; I
Sam. 7:4-17; Luke. 1:32-33]
3. To fulfill prophecy Gen. 3:15; Is. 7:14
4. To Offer Himself as the Sacrifice for our sins
I Jn. 3:5; Heb 10:4-5, 10; I Cor. 15:1-4

The needs of the Sacrificial of Jesus Christ:

a) The sacrifice of the beast never took away sin [Heb 10:4-5]
It is God who instituted animal sacrifice. Yet all the blood for centuries shed
upon Jews altar never took one sin away. Why then was it commanded? It
was commanded in order to “provide a covering” for sins until the blood of
Christ would come and “wash” them away. No animal sacrifice could ever
take away sin, for the sacrifice must come up to the level of man, for whom
it is sacrificed.

20
b) The sacrifice must be sinless.
Since all are sinner, no man can sacrifice Himself for others. Therefore, the
sin less person, the Lord Jesus Christ had to offer Him for others.
c) The sacrifice must be an infinite sacrifice.
Only an infinite sacrifice can satisfy an infinite God, and only through
Christ who is the God man could offer such sacrifice. Moreover, because of
the infinite value of His sacrifice, His one sacrifice is enough for the
salvation of all mankind.
5. To provide the redeemed with a high priest. [Heb 2:17; 7:1]
Today we have a great high priest who stands for us before God. Satan
accuses before God Rev 12:10, but Christ the advocate who is with the Father
Makes intersession for us. I Jn. 2:1, 2

6. To show believers how to live I Jn. 2:6; I pet 2:2

7. To become the head of the new creation Rev 21:5; II Cor. 5:17; I Cor.
15:45-47.

D. The perpetuity of the Incarnation [the extent = how far]

By this we mean the duration of His manhood. God will always be
manifested in the flesh in the person of His son Jesus Christ.
1) It is essential to the Integrity of our Lords manhood.
2) Our Lord, now in glory, has His manhood. He is man today I Tim 2:5
3) It is essential to our Lord ‘s High-priest hood Heb 2:14-18; 7:23-28;
9:24 ; 12:2
4) It is essential to our Lords return and Millennial reign Acts 1:10-11;
Ps 89:2-4 ;Is 9:6,7 ;Is 55:3-4

IV. The Mystery of the incarnation

[Humiliation: Kenosis]
The Question in many that how could the eternal God takes upon Himself Human
limitation while retaining His eternal Deity?
False answers:
1. Christ only appeared limited [His Divine and Infinite powers were simply veiled
from human view] this means Jesus appeared to be man but not was a perfect man.
2. Christ surrendered His attributes while on earth.
He could not surrender His holiness, His righteousness; His truthfulness;
His love etc.
3. Christ surrendered His deity while on earth.
This is the fundamental foundation upon which our faith rests. Without the
Incarnation, Christianity could not stand. The word “INCARNATION” comes
from the Latin word meaning- “enfleshment”; thus when we speak of the
incarnation of Christ Jesus, the son of God we mean – God manifested in the flesh.

PNEUMATOLOGY
(Study about Holy Spirit)

The words “Pneumatos”= “Spirit” “Logos”= “A word, a study, a reasoning

I. The personality of the Holy Spirit

It is often people consider Holy Spirit is like a force or power but the Holy
Scripture teach us a clear picture off the Holy Spirit that He is not a power, but He
is a person. The personality of Holy Spirit can be verified in at least four ways-

A. The Biblical use of personal pronoun. (Masculine personal pronoun)

Jn. 14:16, 17, for the Holly Spirit the masculine pronoun “He” has been
used.
Jn. 14:26
Jn.16:7, 8

22
Jn. 16:13-15
I Cor. 1:11

B. The personal attributes.

Personality is characterized by intellect, emotion and will, the Holy
Scriptures clearly state these three attribute to the Holy Spirit and prove His
personality.

1. Intellect Rom. 8:27- Holy Spirit knoweth the heart and mind.
2. Emotion Isaiah 63:10- The rebellion of the Israel turns the Holy Spirit to fight
against death.
3. Will I Cor. 12:11 – Holy Spirit divides the gift as He wish.

C. The Personal activities of the Holy Spirit.

The Bible relates activities of the Holy Spirit that are possible only for a
person to do. Some of the personal activities which testify the personality of the
Holy Spirit were:
1. Acts 8:29 Holy Spirit Speaks
2. Neh. 9:20, Holy Spirit Instructs
3. Rom. 8:14, Holy Spirit leads.
4. Acts 20:28, Holy Spirit overseers.
5. Acts 13. 2, Holy Spirit calls
6. Rom. 8:26, Holy Spirit Helps.
7. Acts 16:6, Holy Spirit forbids.

D. Personal treatment of the Holy Spirit.

Bible clearly teaches that Holy Spirit receives the treatment for other being
that the only person can receive.
1. Isaiah 63:10 Rebelled grieved
2. Acts 5:3 died
3. I Thess. 5:19 Quench
4. Heb. 10:29 Insulted
- Above for argument clearly states that Holy Spirit is a person.

II. The Holy Spirit is a Divine person.

The Holy Spirit is not just a person but he is a divine person which means
Holy Spirit is God. There are four scriptural proves of the deity.
1. The Holy Spirit is called as “God”.
In the book of Isaiah 6:9 the prophet hear the voice of the lord. And in Acts
28:23, 26 apostle Paul says that was the voice of the spirit. Therefore in the Old
Testament the voice of the Lord was the voice of “God the Spirit”.

23
In the New Testament in Heb. 10:17 and in Acts 5:3-4 Holy Spirit was
directly called as God.
2. The Holy Spirit posses all the Divine Attributes.
The now moral attribute which cannot be posses by the creature are possess by
God the Holy Spirit.
1) Eternity Heb. 9:14
2) Omnipresent Psalm 139:7-10
3) Omnipotent Luke 1:35
4) Omniscient I Cor. 2:10
3. The Holy Spirit is active in Divine works.
The word of God also clearly teaches that the activities work the Holy Spirit
had or performed what only God can perform.
i. Creation Gen. 1:2; Ps. 104:30
ii. Inspiration II Pet. 1:21.
iii. Regenerating- Rebirth Jn. 3:6.
4. The Holy Spirit has the association with father and the son
Mat. 28:19; II Cor. 13: 14; I John 5:7

III. The Holy Spirit before “Pentecost”.

The Pentecost day is the 50th day which is the completion of the wheat
harvest and it also exactly 50 th day after the pass over fest. To the Christian the
word Pentecost means it is the day of the coming of the Holy Spirit after Christ
death and resurrection to baptized believers into the body of Christ. Before
Pentecost the Holy Spirit ministered in at least three areas:

1. The ministry of Holy Spirit in the work of creation. Gen.1:2; Job. 33:4. Holy
Spirit was in active part in the work of creation.
2. The ministry of Holy Spirit in the live of man. In the life of man was temporary.
The ministry can be seen in four different phase. Gen. 6:3:
a) Striving to bring into sense. (Gen. 6:3)
b) Giving supernatural power (Jud. 14:5, 6)
c) Providing (Knowledge) wisdom and talents (Ex. 35:30, 31)
d) Controlling and enabling for ministry (Num. 11:25)

3. The ministry off the Holy Spirit in the life of Christ.

The Holy Spirit had three phases of ministry in the life of Christ.
a) The humanity of Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit Matt. 1:12.
b) The humanity of Christ was empowered by the Holy Spirit to fulfill the
ministry. Luke 4:18, 19
c) The death, resurrection ad ascension was made by the Holy Spirit Rom. 8:11

24
Bible clearly teaches that Holy Spirit was active in His ministry form the
creation up to the day of Pentecost before the present ministry in the church and in
the life of believers.

IV. The ministry of Holy Spirit after Pentecost;

In this section we are going to deal with the ministry of Holy Spirit in the
life of believers and in the life of unbelievers.
A) In the life of Believer.
By the grace of God the Holy Spirit has a wonderful ministry in the life of
believers. Long before the death of Pentecost Jesus Christ make it very clear that
the believer will receive Holy Spirit in a wonderful way Jn.7:38, 39; 16:7

1. The birth of the spirit/ born of the spirit-

The phrase “born of the spirit” found three time in Jn. 3:5,6,8. According to
these verses born of the spirit means the spirit and born of the flesh means flesh.
The creation account of man in Gen. 1:26 gives us a clear meaning of what is the
born of spirit. Man created in the image of God, since God is spirit the image was
also of spirit so, man created in the image of spirit of God. The triune God created
ma with the triune aspects (triune part) and each part has it special function.
a) body-body is the seat of 5 senses sight, hearing tasting, smelling and touching.
It relates to the world surrounding.
b) soul- soul is the seat of emotion intellect and will. And it relates to each own
self.
c) Spirit- spirit is the seat of man’s God consciousness and it enables him to relate
to God.
God created man with the free will, with an ability to make choices, as a
result of that man has chosen to disobey God and sin. At the very consequences
the body became subject to physical death. Soul came under the curse of eternal
death and the spirit dead. Since the spirit was death (separated form God) was not
capable of functioning God word. Therefore, when the Holy Spirit comes to the
lives of believers it quickens the spirit Jn. 5:24. The spiritual bath results in a new
creation II Cor. 5:17; Rom. 8:28. The bath of the spirit is miracle whereby the
Holy Spirit makes a person spirit come alive the moment that person genuinely
believe on Christ. By means this spiritual bath the believer is made a child of God
I John 5:1.
2. The gift of the Spirit:
The gift of the Holy Spirit appears only two times in the New Testament
and both two in the book of Acts 2:10; 10:45. In these two verses we found the
coming of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, the gift is the very person of the Holy Spirit
whom God gives us as a comforter and a guide.
3. The Baptism of the Spirit:

25
In I Cor. 12:13 it is mention that by ones spirit we all are baptize into one
body, that is the body of Jesus Christ. Baptism of Holy Sprit means- the Holy
Spirit places a believer into the body of Christ. This has taken place at the same
time when a person receives Christ as his personal savior.
4. The seal of the Spirit:
The seal of the Holy Spirit is mention three times in the New Testament II
Cor. 1:22; Eph. 1:13;4:30. The sealing of the Holy Spirit indicated at least three
things:
a) ownership- belongs to God
b) A completed transaction- nothing to be done.
c) Security - secure in the hand of God.
5. The dwelling of the Holy Spirit:
When a person believe in lord Jesus Christ, the holy Spirit start dwelling
permanently in any occasion in any circumstances lives together.
6. The fullness of the Spirit: (Filling or controlled)
The fullness of the spirit should not be confused with the indwelling of the
spirit. Filling means controlled by the spirit and it is not one time mention but
repeated action. It is also conditional Luke 1:15, 67; 4:1; Eph. 5:18; Acts2:4-11;
4:8; 6:5.
Conditions to be filled with the spirit:
a) Confession of sin I John 1:9.
b) Considering oneself, death to sin Rom. 6:11
c) Considering oneself alive unto God Rom. 6:11-13; II Cor. 5:17; Col. 3:1-4.
d) Total consecration to God Rom. 6:13.
e) Not gridding the Holy Sprit.
f) Not quenching the Holy Spirit.
g) Yielding to the Spirit.
7. The fruits of the Spirit:
In Gal. 5:22, 23, we find at least the fruits of the Spirit which produce in the
life of a believer. The fruit of the spirit are live virtues that reflect the character
and quality of the spiritual life.
8. The gifts of the Holy Spirit:
The spiritual gifts mean the special spiritual enablement of God the spirit to
do certain things for the glory of God. The gifts of the spirit can be classified into
three categories.
The gifts of the Holy Spirit:
1) Gift for the ministry of the word.
2) Gift for practical function.
3) Gift to perform miracles (Apostles Gift).
Base upon I Cor. 13:8-10 we believe that “the perfect thing” is the word off
God. When it is completed the partial and temporary gifts are sees. Ministry of

26
Holy Spirit is the life of unbeliever according to John 16:8-10. Holy Spirit
convicts the sinners and makes clear the coming judgment of God.

ANTHROPOLOGY
(Study about Men)

Study about man is called anthropology. Form the Greek words

“Anthropos” meaning “man” and “Logos” meaning “word” or “Discourses”
hence anthropology is a discourse about man. The term anthropology can be the
study of the doctrine of man form a biblical standpoint or it referred to the study of
man in his cultural environment.

Q. What is Science?

 Science is a co-related body of a absolute knowledge, gained by trained

observation, proven by demonstration, refined by experience.

Q. How did all begin?

 God created ,
God made all things,
God created by His word.
 Heb. 11:3 creation is a direct act of God
 Evolution is the invention of man, A theory without scientific proved
 The concept of biblical creation is base on the revelation of God. Gen. 1:1
 God created everything out of nothing
 Man is created by existing material
 Before the creation the creation of the earth God has to create space time,
energy, matter vividly the creation account recorded in Gen 1 is absolutely
and literally 24 hour segment of time.

Sixth days of creations.

Gen 1, account of creation is a continues act of God, each day of Gen 1 is a literal
24 hours segment of time
For the Lord, 1 day is equal to thousand and thousands years. So we reject gap
theory.

Gap theory
This theory teach that a large amount of time between Gen 1:1 and 1:2. The
full account of the creation of the earth was inhabited by man and also all short of
animals, as a result of some catastrophic judgment the original creation was
destroyed. Much later, God decided to recreate the earth and each thing.
Another theory is called as ‘Day Age Theory’’ It teaches that the day of Gen.1 to
be an unknown length of time. This above theory allows opportunity for vast ages
of time. Each of the six days of creation was an unknown period of time which
may have million of years.

35
The creation of Man; we believe that mankind male and female came into
being as a direct creative act of God. On sixth day of creation man is created.
Upon the creation of man there are two things aspect,

1) The formative act of God-

It means men are formed from the dust of the earth. Which is the material part
body?

2) The creative act of God-

That is God breath into men nostrils, the breath of life so man became a living
soul. That is an immaterial part (soul & spirit).

Soul is a present conscious part of man capable of knowing oneself Gen.2:7; I

Cor.15:45-47 Eze.18:14; Matt.10:28; Liv.17:11; Rev.6:9.
The theory of soul transmitted-In human reproduction we believe that the body,
Soul and spirit receive from the parents and is transmitted to the child at the time
of conception.(best theory concerning soul transition).
There are three other theories about the origin of the soul –
1) The theory of pre existence – this theory teaches that all soul is previously
existed and then enters into human body at some point of conception.
2) The theory of creation- this theory holds that every soul is created by God
sometime after conception. So it teaches that the person only receive the Body
from the parents but the soul from God and the soul is created by god place in the
body at birth.
3) The theory of traditionism - this theory teaches that all souls God created at the
time of men’s creation and are transmitted in individualize at each child as
conceive.

SPIRIT-This is God conscious part of men capable of knowing God (zech.12:1;

Heb.12; 9, I Cor. 2: 11)
There are two basic theories concerning man’s being.
1) The dichotomous theory –this theory teaches that man is having two part such
as (soul, spirit) and (body)
2) The trichotomous theory –this theory teaches that man is having three parts
such as Spirit, Soul and Body. I Thess. 5:23, Heb. 4:12.
There are certain parts associates of man being –
1) Spirit soul body –this is significant of whole personality of man. I Thess. 5; 23
2) Spirit and soul-This is significant of the eternal and invisible parts of mans
being, Isa.51; 15, 16
3) Spirit and body-This involves God conscious and the sense conscious part of
man Lk.12; 4

36
4) Soul and blood-This speak of the soul life that is in the blood. Blood is the
source and holds the all physical life. Liv.17:1; Heb. 9:12
5) Soul heart mind and strength-this are all set forth to refer mans faculties,
Mk.12:13; Deu.6:11
The human souls have the facilities of minds, emotion and will.min d
includes thoughts, imagination, understanding, memory reason etc. often it is
connected Pro.23:7; Mk.7:20-23.The wills is the ability to choose and to make
decision Psalm 9:11
The emotion involves felling, good or bad, joy, pain, anger, sorrows etc.
Psalm14:1; Pro.25:20

BODY-Body is the materials part of man, physical part, visible part, it is formed
by God. ICor.12:23; Job.10:9
 Human body is a house, dwelled by soul & spirit.
 Human body is a Temple Icor.3:16;6:19-20
 Human body is a earthly Icor.15:7- talk about natural body.
 Human body is of humiliation.Phi.3:21.
 Human body is governing by senses-seeing, hearing, tasting, feeling,
smelling. I Thess.4:23.
 Human body is a reward.Dan.7:15

Man has to proper order of spirit, soul &body, subject to the words of God
and to the spirit of God.
God purpose for men:
There are four (4) purposes.
i) Relationship-Knowing God in a very personal way. This includes
fellowship.Gen.3:8; Isa. 59:1-2.
ii) Character-That is to reproduce God nature and character in man. II Peter.1:4-7;
Rom. 8:28-29
iii) Function- to rule the universe Gen. 1:26.
iv) Reproduction - Multiplication-more children into the family Gen. 1:28, man
lost relationship because of sin, lost character because of sin, lost function because
of sin. These four purposes are absolutely going through church.
The fall of Man:
The result of Adam’s fall was:

1) Spiritual death, physical and eternal death

2) Judgment came upon serpent
3) Judgment upon Satan
4) Judgment on Eve
5) Judgment on Adam and human race. But God brought a promise Gen. 3:15,
promise of coming redeemer, seed of the woman.

Sin began in heave among the angelic order, then came to the earth in the
beginning of tempter Satan Lucifer in the original sinner Gen. 3:14-15 Matt. 3:16-
23 (II Thess. 2:7 says the mystery of iniquity)
# The nature of Lucifer sin we called as “Trinity of sin” Pride, covetousness (Lust)
and self-will, along Lucifer the scripture indicate that other angels also sin. II Pet.
2:4 Jude 6 Rev. 12:3, 4
# Entrance of sin into Humanity / Earth
The bible teaches about the creation of man, and the prohibition and
probation then came the temptation, God permitted the devil for man, the
temptation came for without tempted in body, soul and spirit (Gen. 3:1-6) (I Thess.
5:23). Thereby, man became totally depraved, the fall at immediate and remote
effect.
The immediate effects are:

i. Forfeited the purity

ii. Knowledge of the good & evil
iii. Law of conscious at work
iv. The law of God
v. The fear of God
vi. The blame of other
vii. Ma’s nature corrupted

Each sin is a personal attack on God Ps. 51:3, 4 the wages of sin is death

5:12. Ma became a sinner both in original and actual sin, original sin
inherited from Adam and actual sin commit by each person.
ii. Death passed upon all men – because the wages of sin is death so every sin
involve died.

# There is three major imputations (Accounting) – (Imputed – inherited)

 Adam’s sin is imputed upon all man Rom. 5:12

 Man’s sin is imputed upon Jesus Christ II Cor. 5:21
 Christ righteousness is imputed upon believing sinners Rom. 5:1

CONSEQUENCE OF SIN:
The basic wages of sin is death the result of sin, problem in the flesh and in
the mind such as human suffering, pain even death such are the result of sin Jesus
paid the price of our sin.
Chastening: chastening is the strife of God over a sinner, upon a sinning believer;
The object/ purpose of chastening God are;

 To bring the error child into the fellowship of God.

 To remind them not to follow this practice anymore. I Cor. 11 teach that
chastening of God is emotional struggle, lack of peace withheld blessing,
physical suffering including sickness, weakness in health, lost of thing even
immature death.

The lost of salvation or the removal of the Holy Spirit are not the chastening
act of the lord I Cor. 11:22

God’s remedy for sin:

1. For the believer – a believer sin has already been paid by the offering made
by Jesus that does not mean that believer can commit sin. Sin breaks the
fellowship with God and takes away the joy of the salvation and we will
lose our testimony before the world II Sam. 12:14, when believer commit
sin he should follow the practice of I John 1:7-9
When we commit sin:
a) Confess our sin
b) Forsake our sin

41

SOTERIOLOGY
(Study about Salvation)

The doctrinal study of salvation

Saved, save have a double used in the scripture.

 They are used of God’s act of rescuing us from some impending danger in
situation of life.
 Deliverance from the penalty, power and presence of sin.

1. The need of salvation

2. The time dimension
3. The medium of salvation
4. The object of salvation

The need of salvation:

Man is spiritually death in sin. There are three forms of death but they
related each other and are the result of sin death means separation. Physical death
is the separation of soul, spirit from the body. Only body died soul and spirit
cannot die James 2:26; Eccl. 12:7, spiritual death is separation of soul and spirit
from fellowship with God. Eternal death is the finalization of spiritual death, that
is the wicked will e resurrected in some form of body and the will experience the
second death which is the eternal punishment, eternal separation form God with
body, spirit, soul.
1. Spiritual death: separation of soul and spirit from the fellowship with God.
Because God is absolutely holy and cannot associates with sin, the very result of
man sin was separation from God Isa. 59:2; I John 1:5-7; Rom 6:23, for the
spiritual death there is an objective and subjective aspect. Objectively the moment
Adam and eve sin they died spiritually and separated from God. Subjectively they
were estranged from God and aware of their guilty state. Every since the fall man
has impaired spiritual sensibility until he is born again.
2. Physical death: Heb 9; 22 says all has to deid.Rom.5; 12 death is the result of
sin.Gen.3; 19 man was created immortal and the physical died enter with the
curse.1tim 6; 16 says only God is immortal.
a) Physical death is link to the fall.Gen.3; 19 say the return to the dust.
b) When Adam and Eve sin they died spiritually and began to die physically.
Physical and spiritual died are difficult to separate when Christ overcame physical
death by resurrection. He sin and spiritual death.
c) Adam was created with a body that could die if he sin. But could not have died
if he continues in obedience this is called conditional immortality.

44
3. Eternal death: Eternal death is an extension of spiritual death, those who death
physical with spiritually death because they did not trust Christ are punished with
eternal death at the great with throne judgment. This is also called as second death.
SIN NATURE-the effect of sin is the present of sin nature Eph. 2; 3.
* Flesh, Old man, body of sin (equating words to sin nature) 1 John 1; 8 “SIN”
referring to the sin nature. The sin nature is a propensity (inclination going down
to down) to a way life dominated by fleshly lust and sin desire.
The Magnitude of sin-
1).The extends of sin (How big sin is?)(How many) all are sin. All mankind
Gen 6:5; Phi 8:21; Ps. 41 Event the righteous people is sinner.eg- Abraham, Job,
Noah. The New Testament also declares the universality of human sin Eph.2:1-3
Rom.3:23; 5:12; 1 john 5:19
2) The extensiveness of sin-(how deep our sin) all have sin but how sinful thy
are.Mth.27:28; Rom.7:1- Total depravity. Total depravity (what it does not mean)
a) That man is as sinful as he was a possible being.
b) That the unsaved people are completely insensitive to moral things.
(Rom.2:13)
c) People engage in every possible from of sin.
What it means?
1) Sin has affected the total being of man, the body, mind, emotion and will etc. (2
cor. 3:14-15; Rom. 6:12; 1:26-27; 6:17; Mth.12:33-37.)
Even the good work they commit with wrong motive and without faith.
(Rom.14:23; John.5:39-32)
3) That the unsaved are completely enable to extricate themselves from the sinful
condition, this is called inability, One cannot be save himself, the lost are
spiritually died.(Eph.2:1-5; Col.2:13.)

GOD THE FATHER-Role in salvation

Definition:
1) The plan of God- the plan of God is His eternal decision by which he render
certain on all things which shall came to pass.
2) Force ordination- God decision with respect to any matter with history.
3) Pre destination- God plane with regard to the eternal destiny of moral agency.
4) Election- Gods gracious choice of some to be saves.
5) Reprobation-Gods righteous condemnation of the wicked that reject Him.
6) Preterition-Gods by passing of the non-action, these are no double
predestination.
OLD TESTAMENT TEACHING OF GODS PLANE-
There are two main Hebrew word express Gods plane. Yatsar- it means to form, to
fashion according to pre-ordained opposition Pslm.139:16; Ish.37:26; 40:1; 46:10,
11; Yaats-to advice, to counsel, to plane etc.Pslm.33:10, 11; Ish.14:24-37;
Gen.15:20;

45
N.T. Teaching:
Jesus spoke frequently of God’s plan and certainty of its fulfillment Luke
21:20-22; 22:22, these includes big events and small one Mat. 6:26, 30; Acts
23:24; 4:27, 28; Gal. 1:15; 1:4; 9:12.
Thelema: it is the best taken of God perceptive (command) will and soul – God’s
decretive will (General) Luke 7:30; 10:16; I Thess. 4:8. Rejecting God’s will is not
changing God’s plan.

The nature of Gods Plan:

I. God’s plan is eternal- God’s plan is singular Eph. 3:11

II. God’s plan is base of free choice – God doesn’t need any advice, there is no
any modification Eph. 1:11
III. The purpose of God’s plan is His won glory Eph. 1:5,6
IV. God’s plan is inclusive Eph. 1:11
V. God’s plan is efficacious means it is certain, no condition effective, every
happen and God purpose Isa. 14:24.
VI. God’s plan does not force man to add in a particular way.
VII. Most of God’s plan is sacred Deut. 29:27,28
VIII. God’s plan involves only thing outside involve every He plan accordance to
his nature.
IX. God is not surprise of sin I Pet. 1:22.

His decree, his logically preceded by his intrinsic such knowledge. He freely
choose to create the universe as a matter of interval self determination God was
not under any obligation to provide forgiveness to the Pentecost of either. The
most predestination passages of the bible include human accountability Acts. 2:23
# Fore knowledge:
In the Old Testament find the word know and knew these means God
personally in a very special way chosen and have intimate relationship / fellowship
Gen. 18:13; Exo. 13:12; Ps. 100:14 Jer. 1:5; Amos 3:2; Ps. 1:6.
In the New Testament the word fore knowledge also used in terms of
relationship (I Cor. 8:3; II Tim. 2:19; Matt. 7:23) there are five references very
important used in relationship with fore knowledge (Proginosko).
1. Acts 2:23, His plan and he played an active role in the process.
2. Rom. 8:29, 30, Here in this reference the elect people are foreknow but their
faith is not foreknow they are saints, brethren, called, justified ad glorified.
3. Romans 11:2, referring God’s elect people. God know about everything about al
people but foreknown is used only of Gods special relationship with the elect.
4. I Pet. 1:2, refer God’s salvation.

46
5. I Pet. 1:20, Christ was appointed and elected for his mediator of his.
Fore knowledge means more than knowing ahead of time, it involves intimate
knowledge and includes choice. Amos 3; 2 Foreknowledge is link with
determinate counsel Acts. 2:23, it is unconditional Rom. 9:11-13, God’s plan
renders al things certain but it does not destroyed man’s free will.
Certainty Necessity
1. It will happen 1. It must happen
2. Will not act otherwise 2. Cannot act otherwise
3. Free will 3. Force will
There can be certainty any yet freedom, we will freely choose to do what He
plan for us. God’s plan provides certainty which is the basis for God’s knowledge
of all that will happen.
Certain problem with the doctrine of God’s plan:
1. How can God plan sin? How God can prohibited sin?
God does not cause, He allows it, we need to distinguish between God’s plans –
decretive will what Gods command –Perceptive will. What God allows –
permissive will? God prepare the same in advance for glory. The lost prepared
themselves for destruction by their unbelief. Rom. 9:22-24
2. Does God’s Plan remove motivation?
We should remember that God’s plan in roof means as well as the ends. God add
four ordained that we witness our job is the faithfully witness as God had
commanded.
3. Will God’s plan destroy human freedom?
No, we have every freedom to choose the right Acts. 2:23
4. God’s plan destroys Gods freedom?
That is a wrong statement. God may grieve because of man’s sin. God always does
the things in accordance with His nature.
#God work of Predestination:
This particular doctrine is develop by Augustine Prior to the there was a
doctrine as Pelagius
Pelagius Augustine
1. Man has freedom of Choice 1. Man has no freedom of choice
2. Adam’s sin had no direct effect 2. All sin in Adam
3. Adam’s sin only a bad example 3. All turned with a sin nature
4. No tendency toward evil 4. There is tendency toward
evil
5. God does not exalt any internal force. 5. God uses both external and
eternal forces.
6. Grace is available 6. God enables the will of the
elect to choose salvation
7. Predestination base on foreseen faith. 7. Predestination is base on
free choice.

47
Pelagius Doctrines: Condemn in A.D. 431 at council Ephesus even though it is
condemn the doctrines were going on after then there came two other doctrinal
stands such as: Calvinism and Armenianism.

Calvinism Armenianism
Tulip – this is Total depravity God desires all people to be save (Ezek
33:11; II Pet. 3:9; I Tim. 2:3,4)
Unconditional election – eternity All people are abe to believe and to be
elected saved.
Limited atonement – Christ died only Many Armenianism believe election is
for elected base on God’s infinite ability to
foreseen those who would receive the
offer of salvation.
Irresistible Grace – unable to resist the Resistible
grace
Perseverance of Saints – eternal No security – it can be lost.
security of salvation cannot be lost
once who saved.

Calvinism:
The spirit internal called is affection these tow major doctrine is develop on
the logical relation ship between God’s decisions to elect some the salvation ad his
decision to allow man’s face into sin there are three main views in relation with
the above statement there is a Greek word Lapse means “to fall”.
The predestination is supra lapsrianism (above) Infra lap (down/under) sub lap
(under)
Supra Lap Infra sub
Election Creation Creation
Creation Fall Fall
Allow fall Election Salvation

Provide Salvation Salvation Election

These are the three views concern logical relation between God’s decision
to elect some to salvation and His decision to allow man’s fall into sin.

# Armaniniasm:
The problems with Armaniniansm are:

48
i. It makes man choice primarily John 6:44
ii. It makes the language of the scripture to be misleading because God’s plan
is not on my choice.
iii. It takes initiative away from God
iv. It undermined for the lose

#Barthian view (Karl Bargh) not at all right

a. Predestination is God’s eternal election of Jesus Christ.

b. In Christ the whole human race is chosen.
c. Christ is both the elected man and the electing God
d. All human as individuals have been elected in Christ.

Principles regarding election:

1. Romans 9:
1. 9:7 – Election to salvation is not base on natural birth of hereditary
2. 9:11 – election is not base on human merit (Deut. 9:6)
3. Rom. 9:14, 15 – God cannot be charge with unrighteousness because of his
election of some and not other.
4. Rom. 9:15,16 – God elective purpose is base on God’s mercy, mercy is God’s
loving respond to man’s miserable helpless condition (Mercy – God is not giving
what we deserve)
5. Rom. 9:19,20 – God is righteous in his condemnation of the wicked.
6. Rom. 9:21 – God’s elective purse is base on his omnipotent. He not only plan
but he actively carries out his plan.
7. Rom. 9:22, 23 – God ultimate purpose is to display His glory.
His salvation of the elected displays His mercy, grace and love His
condemnation of the wicked shows His power longsuffering and justice.
2. Ephesians 1:
Five important truth regarding election

i. God’s elective purpose was determine before time (means before any time)
Eph. 1:4
ii. Vs.4,5 – his election is base on his love
iii. Vs. 5, 11 – Election is grounded in God’s good pleasure.
iv. Vs. 9, 11 – God sovereign plan include all things.
v. Vs. 6, 11 – God purpose in His won glory.
In relation of Eph. Chap – 5 we find the principle of election:
1. God circled your name before time
2. The source of our election is God’s love.
3. The sphere of our election – God’s pleasure.
4. Time of our election – v. 4, before the foundation of the world.
5. The motive of the election – God’s glory.

49
6. The basis of election – God’s sovereignty

3. I Cor. 1:27- 31
Two important truth regarding election

1. V. 27 – God’s elective purpose includes the shaming of the wise and the
strong of this world.
2. Vs. 29,31 – the basis for our election is must be in God alone so that man
cannot feast for his salvation.

Q. But the question is how depraved is man? If man is so deprave how can he
be saved?

 Scripture teach us that man is lose, blind, spiritual dead, human race is
hopelessly separated from God because of their sin, they are unable to do
anything to extricated themselves from this condition. Spiritual death
involves inability Eph. 2;1-3, Rom. 1:18-23; 4:19; 7:2-8; II Cor. 4:4. God is
under no obligation to perform senatorial works among man to induce them
to repent. According to John 6, and Romans 8:28-30, God brings efficacious
grace for man to repent but the same time God use us many means to bring
people to salvation, circumstances, human agency, internal of the spirit etc.
the role of prayer also very important with preaching of the gospel related
with the election we need to be faithful in or God given task of evangelism
knowing that we are an important part of God’s program, because
faithfulness is always rewarded. We should not criticize ourselves of other
when they reject the gospel.

Let us do faithfully our part we should praise God fro his grace and true
provisions of salvation, knowing that we are purchase with His precious blood we
can give ourselves totally to him.

SALVATION
Eastern view Biblical view
Is a process man’s development Divine supernatural work by faith
spiritual discipline alone Divine regeneration.

Roman Catholic regarding Grace:

For them the grace is a rite by prayer penance a hending mass they get
grace. Grace is a medicine for the soul they will achieve by religious participation

Biblical view:
Grace in the Old Testament – the Hebrew word for grace is “Hen” which
means underserved gift. Noah and Moses found grace in the side of the Lord. Gen.

50
6:8; Ex. 33:12; Zech. 12:10 so, grace is something God gives which we don’t
deserve. In the Old Testament God displayed his grace to man in tow important
covenant
Flood – Noahic covenant
Tower of Babel – Abrahamic covenant

New Testament:
Greek word for grace is “charis” it means which provide joy, blessed, charm.
Theologically, the mercy foul kindness of God to grant something that man does
not deserve grace is attitude or dispossession of God that grows out of His
attribute of love. Grace is not a power, not energy.
a) Grace is free and unmerited favor Rom. 3:24; II Cor. 11:7; Eph. 3:7
b) Grace is free for the believer but it is costly for the donor.
c) Grace is used broadly of all blessings of salvation.
d) Christ incarnation and death is grace II Cor. 8:9
e) The obedience respond of a believer is grace II Cor. 8:4, 6, and 19.
f) Grace refers the principle that is a way of life means grace contrast with law
John 1:17; Gal. 5:4; Rom. 4:16; 6:14-19
g) Grace is something God gifts to man II Cor. 8:1; 9:8,14,15
h) Grace is one of four expects of God’s love.
i. Benevolence – God loves respond to man’s welfare.
ii. Mercy – God loving responds to man’s miserable state
iii. Longsuffering – God’s loving responds to man’s stubbornness
iv. Grace – God loves respond to man’s lack of merit.

THEORIES OF ATONEMENT

# - AT + ONE + MENT, refer to the death of Jesus Christ

1. The Socinian Theory”: (Example Theory) concerning about man’s love to God.

 This Socinian theory teaches that the real value of Christ death consists of
the beautiful example, supreme dedication. That it offer to us.
 The resurrection is important as conformation of what Jesus taught (I Pet.
2:21)

2. The moral influence theory: (God’s love demonstrated)

 This theory teaches that the death of Jesus Christ is latest demonstration of
God’s love for men.
 Man’s need is to overcome his fear and ignorance of God, by the death of
Jesus Christ. The three most important basic needs are made according to
them.
i. Man’s need an openness to God

51
ii. Man’s need a conviction of sin and repentance
iii. Man’s need an inspiration.

3. The governmental theory: (Devine justice is demonstrated)

This theory teaches us the seriousness of sin and teaches God as the Holy
ruler who must righteously yet lovingly enforce. His laws (Hugo Grotius) he
picture God as displayed both his love and holiness in the way that He forgive sin,
showing both clemency and severity and Christ demonstrated and resign both this
virtues, so the death of Christ is not substitutionary its simply a demonstration.
The governmental theory is both objective and subjective object.

 Objective – Christ death enable God to properly forgive sin.

 Subjectively – Man is deterred from sin.

4. The Ransom theory (victory over evil)

It is develop by early Church- Satan had authority with man Satan
demanded the blood of Jesus as ransom Matt. 20:28; I Cor. 6:20, God paid the
ransom so the effect of atonement is neither God nor man but to Satan.\
5. The satisfaction theory (compensation to the father)
Basically this is developed by Anselm. Anselm rejects the ransom theory
and said God had no obligation to Satan other than to punish him. God power
requires that either sinners be punished or that satisfaction be made in their behalf.
God could provide adequate satisfaction in order to do that the very God become
man so the death of Jesus Christ which He died willingly provided satisfaction of
God’s justice. Thereby, man can be saving by the substitutionary death of Christ.
The central them of the Atonement – by the general term atonement we
refer primarily to the voluntarily substitutionary sacrificial death of the divine
Human Messiah to provide the just basis by which God could be just and the
justified while restoring peace by counter acting all the legal experiential,
relational at cosmic effects of sin.

THE FUTURE PROVISIONS OF CHRIST’S DEATH AND RESURRECTION

1. The provision of an incorruptible resurrection body

2. The complete restoration of the Divine likeness
3. Enjoyment of restored Edenic condition in the millennium and new heaven
and new earth. The basis of such rich salvation is not the completed
atonement. Faith is only the means by which Christ atoning provision is
personally receives.

Foundation Factors:
1) God and His law:

52
God is perfect and righteous in all His doing there is no imperfect in God sin
is a repulsive to Him. He commands His preaches to obey His law God’s
commands are an outgrowth of His Holy nature that is a objective moral standard.
Violation of God’s law is very serious matter result death penalty.

2) Man’s condition:
Because of man’s sin He has fallen under the condemnation of death. Man’s
nature has been corrupted and resulting in total depravity has unable to save
himself from his sinfulness that is inability.

3). Christ:
Christ is both fully God and sinless man as a genuine man he could
represent us on the cross. As God his diet is of infinite valued more then sufficient
to atone for the entire human race. All this sacrifice were instituted in anticipation
of Christ substitutionary death.Rom.3:25.There are two passage in the O.T are
very important, 1) Passover in the book of Exodus,2) Liv.16 Day of atonement.
These sacrifices were representative and substitutionary.
*A representative is who Acts on behalf of another in such a way as to involve the
other in his action.
* A substitute is one who acts in place of another in such a way as to render the
others action unnecessary. Christ is sinner substitute received sinner guilt and
penalty so believer will not experience them.

N.T Teaching;
The testimony of Jesus (about His death)
a) He was aware that He was sent by His Father. (Jhn.3:17; 6:38; 10:36)
b) He was aware that he was fulfilling the prophecy (Mth.26:24; Mk.9:12;
Luk.20:27.)
c) He refer that His death as a ransoms for many. (Mth.20:28; 1 tim.2:6)
d) He referred to His death a substitutionary (Jhn.15:13)
e) He says that His death is solution for sin. (Jh.6:47; 53-57; 14:6)
* From the beginning Jesus anticipated the sacrifice of His life for sinful people. In
His death He was not as a helpless victim. He chose to give up the Glory of
Heaven. (Phi.2:6-8 ;) and come into the world as the Lamb of God.(Jhn.1:29).He
identify with human, flesh and blood Human condition Human suffering.
(Heb.2:14; 17:1O)
* Jesus Christ is God Mk.8:29 yet He spoke plainly and repeatedly of His coming
dead and resurrection, Mk.8:31-32; 9:31; 10:32-34; 2:45.Jesus determine the time
the place the manner of His death, even in the given of His life Jesus was not a
victim but the victor. Jesus purposefully gives up His life, Act.24:27; Jhn.14:19.
THE WRITING OF POUL;-

53
a) The emphasis of a point; the emphasis on God wrath against mans
sin.Rom.1:18; 3:21-26.
b) The cross display the love of both the father who sent and son who
death.Jhn.3:16; Rom.5:8; 2Cor.5:14;
c) Christ death is viewed as a sacrifice in our behalf.Rom.8:32; Eph.5:2;
d) Christ death is view as propitiatory.
*The nature of Christ death; death means separation not annihilation (destroy
completely).
a) Jesus death physically, His spirit is separated from His body .Jme.2:26.Jesus
body was buried and His unclothed spirit or soul waited for the resurrection of His
body.
b) Jesus Christ death spiritually by being separated from the father fellowship
(Mth.27:27)
c) Jesus Christ experience the Hell we should have experience Jesus Christ
experience the Hell of God forsakenness and Devine wrath for the sin of the
world. Pslm.116:13.

# Key concept for Atonement:

There are four concepts:
1. Substitution:
There is many passage that speaks of or sins being laid on Christ. (Isaiah
53:6; II Cor. 5:21; I Pet. 2:24). Christ is our Passover lamb died as our substitute (I
Cor. 5:7; Ex. 12; John 1:29).
* The Greek proposition “Anti” Means “instead of” (Heb. 10:28; Matt. 20:28; I
Tim.2:6)
* The Greek proposition “Huper” means “on behalf of” (phil.13; John 10:15;
15:13)
2. Redemption:
There are three Greek words that convey the ideas of redemption:
a) “Agoraza” means “to purchase from market” (I Cor. 6:20; II Pet. 2:1; Rev. 5:9;
14:34) the important of “Agorazo” is “payment of price”
b) “Exagorazo” it simply means “to buy for oneself” (Gal. 3:13; 4:5). The
important of “Exagorazo” is “Removal”.
c) “Lutroo” it simply means “to release by paying a ransom” (Titus 14; I Pet. 1:18;
I Tim. 2:6; Eph. 1:7) emphasis is “Release”.

There are three steps in the redemption process but only the first word is
used of the unsaved II Pet. 2:1. Believers are redeemed now; the process is not
completed until Christ cleans us by death or rapture Eph. 2:14; Rom. 8:23.
3. Propitiation:

54
The Greek word for propitiation is “Hilaskomai” the meaning of this word is “to
appease or to satisfy” 6 times in New Testament satisfied God’s wrath. (Luke
18:13; Heb.2:17 I John.2:2; Rom. 8:25.
4. Reconciliation:
The Greek word “Katalasso” it means change, change from hostility to
harmonize Rom.1:23; Matt. 5:24; I Cor. 7:11. God is always the subject and man
is the object. Man need to change it is not deal with God’s wrath against the sin
but to deal with man’s hostility and enmity against God. Col. 1:20, 21 not only we
re reconcile to God but also we are ambassadors to the very massage of
reconciliation.
The implications of the substitutionary atonement are:
I) Salvation is the only by God’s grace through faith in Christ death.
II) By salvation is a free gift, we should not take it likely.

## THE EXTENT OF ADONAMENT-

Question:-?
1. For whom did Christ die?
2. For what did Christ die?

A. PARTICULAR ADONAMENT:-
Calvinism view:-
Christ dies to render certain the salvation of the elect. This is limited
atonement. (Matt.1:21, John 10:11, Eph.5:25, John 7:29, Matt.20:28).
B. UNIVERSAL ATONAMENT:-

Arminianism view:-
God intended that Christ died for the sins of all. (I John 2:2, IIPeter2:1,
IICorin.5:19, John 1:29,
John 3:16, Matt.28:19-20).

Our conclusion is ITim.4:10

###WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THE CHRISTIAN LIFE.
1) The Holy Spirit ministers to all the people through common grace.
A. providential blessings:
God provide everything. We find in nature such as Sunshine, Rain,
Season, Food etc.( Acts 14:17).
B. Restraint of sin.
He stops the people not commit to many sin. (Job 1, 2; II
Thess.2:6,7).

2) Before salvation:
A. Conviction-Convict the people repeatedly. (John 16:8-11).
Of sin-(unbelief)

55
Convicts Of righteousness- of Christ.
Of Judgment- (upon Satan)
3) At Salvation-one time (not repeated)
A. Re-generation (born again). John 3:3-5, Titus 3:5
We were in Satan’s family and born again into Christ’s family.
B. Baptism of the Holy Spirit (I Corin.12:13).
At the very moment of Salvation Holy Spirit place the person into the body
of Christ into the Church.
4).Beginning at salvation (one time –continuing).
a) indwelling; As soon as a person believe in Christ the Holly spirit and resist
in the believer forever 1Cor 6:19; Rom.8:9.
b) Sealing-Ownership, protection, security, and finished transaction.Eph.1:13;
4:13; 2cor.1:22.
c) Spiritual gift:Rom.12. Eph. 4. 1Cor. 12. 1Pet. 4.
Supernatural ability which God give to believer that He may exercise within
the assembly or fir the spiritual growth of other believers.
5) After salvation –Repeated one.
a) Teaching (anointing) Jhn.16:13; 1Jhn.2:20;
b)Intercession-Jesus Christ in heaven Holly spirit in earth.
c) Sanctification (set apart) 2Thes.2; 30; Pet.12.
d) Filling (control or leading by the spirit) always guided by the spirit at all
the time in all things.Eph.5:18.

The start of salvation;

The logical term of salvation, the logical order of God degree is eternity.
* Gods calling of all in provenance grace and there response in conversion preside
generation (Arminienism)
* The special called and regeneration receive conversion (Calvinism)
* The special called precedes conversion and conversion precedes Generation.
According to scripture we conclude.
1) Gracious election-In eternity pass after foreseen the fall the father graciously
elected many deprive sinner to conversion sanctification to service.
2) Verbally called –in temporal history human witnesses verbal called those giving
to Christ.
3) The Holy Spirit specially issue to the saint and efficient internal called.
4) As the spirit enable to response to that called sinner genuinely convert (repent,
believe, trust in Christ)
5) The converts are justified regenerated, sanctified preserved and glorified.
So, the order goes election, verbal calling, effectual calling believe of the gospel
repentance from the sin trusting on the living Christ
gereneneration,justification,reconcillation,sanctification,perseverance and
glorification.

56
EFFECTUAL CALLING;
1) There is a universal called into salvation Isha.45:22; Mth.11:28.
2) There is a convicting work of holly spirited, John16:7-11.
3) There is a effectual called to the elect.Mth.28:14; Rom.8:13; John6:37, 44, 65.
4) Call means save, 1Cor.1:2, 24; 1Thes.1:11; Heb.5;1;2Pet.1:10;Rom.1:6.
5) these calling is special work that effectual drowse a person to salvation using
variety of method.
Is God universal called insincere?
No God knows the inevitable of the non elect required efficacious grace in order
to believe there is a distinction between Gods desire (perceptive will)and Gods
plane (decretive will)so the invitation is sincere this invitation is comment
personal choice require God provision of salvation through his son prove His
sincerity.
CONVERSION-means turning away,
-turning from sin (negative) and turning to God (Positive) 1Thes.1:9;we turn to
God from sin ,we turn from sin to god. Conversion is essential to
salvation.Mth.18:3 the Hebrew term for conversion means bwv “to return” (more
then 1000 time) the Greek means to change to turn. Matt.18:3; 1Thes.1:9; after
God does turning Pslm.85:4.
The words incline your heart; circumcise yourself wash brokenness all means that.
Conversion has two aspect-Repentance and Faith.
REPENTANCE: - is a change of mind three things involves in repentance
recorded in John 16:8-11.
Content: - sin, righteousness and judgment repentance is requiring for salvation
Acts 2:38; 17:13.
Faith: - is the positive aspect of conversion Gen. 15:6. It’s recorded 492 times in
New Testament word Faith. The definition of faith is in Heb. 11:1. It is the total
committing of our lives and soul to Christ for our salvation.
There are three elements in Faith:
1. Intellectual element – knowledge
2. Volitional element – will
3. Emotional element – accept to the truth

* We must know what e believe:

For the salvation one must believe in the person of Christ (who He is) and in
the work of Christ (what He did). Without faith it id impossible to please God
what is not of faith is sin Rom. 14:23; Heb. 11:6
* The word faith is also used for the doctrines Jude 1-3; I Tim. 4:6
Faith comes by hearing the word of God Rom.10:17; Eph. 2:8; Phil. 1:29.
Faith is not against of reason John 20:5-8, through repentance saving faith goes
together.

UNION WITH CHRIST
This is the central truth of all theology. This doctrine is link with atonement,
the Holy Spirit ministry and the benefit of salvation.

i. The believers and Christ are said to be one (John 14:20) “In Christ”, Rom.
8:1 II Cor. 5:17; Col.1:27.
ii. This union is effected by spirit baptism I Cor. 12:13; Rom. 6:3-6; Gal.3:27;
Col. 2:12
iii. This union is link with the doctrine of substitution (Christ died for me,
Christ died instead of me) II Cor. 5:14.
iv. We are crucified with Christ, we are buried with Christ. Raised with Christ,
make alive with Christ, live with Christ, glorified with Christ, heirs with
Christ reign with Christ. Rom.6:6; Gal. 2:20; Rom. 6:4; Col. 2:4; Eph. 2:6;
Col. 3:1; Eph. 2:5; Col. 2:13; II Cor. 7:3; Rom. 8:17; II Tim. 2:12.
v. This union is not mystical (oneness in ascent) not metaphysical (losing our
identity), not psychological (oneness of thought), not sacramental (Lord’s
Supper).
vi. This union is picture in different ways:
a) Believers are the members of His body ad Christ is the Head. Rom.
12:4, 5; I Cor. 12:12, 27; Eph.1:22, 23; 5:23.
b) Believers and Christ from the Holy Temple Christ is the foundation
and believers are the living stone. Eph. 1:19-22; I Pet. 2:4-6
c) Christ is the vine believers are the branches John 15:1-8.
vii. This union consist several factors
1) It is judicial – we are cloths in Christ’s righteousness, Christ spiritual
assists are merge with our liabilities.
2) It is spiritual because Holy Spirit is indwelling in us.
3) It is life giving Rom. 5:1,2; 8:9-11; John 15:4,5
viii. Our union with Christ involves great blessing:
a) We share Christ’s righteousness II Cor. 5:20
b) We share His strength Phil. 4:13
c) His inheritance Rom. 8:17
d) His reign II Tim. 2:12
e) All spiritual blessing Eph. 1:3
ix. Our union with Christ being great responsibility:
a) We share His ministry II Cor. 5:21
b) We share His suffering Phil. 3:8-10

REGENERATION (Born again):

It is a supernatural work of God to transform the believer John 1:3; 3:8;
Titus 2:5; I Pet. 1:3, this work is instantaneous at the point of salvation. It is not

58
something we feel but an effect is very real. The instrument of regeneration is the
word of God.
Spiritual and physical death
One birth – two deaths
Eternal death

Two birth – one death. Physical Death

I Pet. 1:23 holy spirit gives the believer a new spiritual nature because of
man’s spiritual deadness, regeneration is essential fro salvation. New Birth, born
again – Salvation John 3:3; Tit. 3:5; Eph. 2:1,2; Deut. 30:6. Even in Old Testament
regeneration was required, Born again mean born from above. Matt. 19:28; John
3:3,7; Ezek. 11:19,20. Regeneration is instantaneous (immediate) yet it is a
beginning of a process of growth II Cor. 5:17; Phil. 1:6; Jam. 1:18; I Pet. 1:22, 23;
I John 5:4, 5. Regeneration is connected with Christ resurrection Rom. 6:4; I Pet.
1:3

JUSTIFICATION:
Regeneration deals with man’s sin but, justification deals with man’s guild.
Righteousness: - we are not righteous because we are not keeping God’s standard.
All broke God law, liable for punishment. In order to justified man properly God
must arrange man’s punishment to be paid, for the law to be fulfilled on his behalf.
This He has done through His son Rom. 3:21, 26. God the Father acts as judge not
as a father or as a ruler Rom. 5:1-4.

1. Acceptance with God (by faith) results – peace with God

2. Access to God (through Jesus Christ) results – prayer
3. Assurance of God (because of Christ results – presence of God

We are justified: by faith in Christ through faith by blood.

Justification is a linage term it is equal with imputes means to declare. So the
definition is justification is the judicial act of God by which He declares the
believers to be righteous base on Christ substitutionary death and the imputation of
His righteousness it is not a fission or deception Christ spiritual assets are merge
with our liabilities does cancelling then out and giving us the asset of Christ
righteousness.

Justification involves three willing parties:

The Father, the Son and We (believers) Justification is not by work but
genuine faith produce good work. James 2:17; Rom. 5:1,2; 6:23; Eph. 2:8,9; Eph.
2:8,9; Rom.4:6; Eph. 2:10. Justification involves forgiveness of all sin past,
present, and future. The eternal consequence of sin is removing.

59
ADOPTION:
The word adoption is not found in the Old Testament but the concept was
there. It was not a practice in Israel. In the New Testament the word adoption used
by Paul five times. Rom 9:4 “Israel’s advantage as God chosen people.”
Background: the very background about adoption in Galatians speaks chapter
3:10, 13, and 17,19,21,24. The law is a temporary replacement because of sin until
the seals comes, the law served as a child government to bring Jews unto and until
Christ. In Ch- 4 Galatians, Paul explain that the child to b adopted not someone
else child but to adopted his very own son, first born son at the set age of majority
Gal. 4:5.
Adoption has three aspects:

1. The past – redeemed to be God’s child. Eph. 1:5

2. The present – a position of privilege relationship with the father. Rom.8:15
3. The future – the transformation of our bodies (our bodies are going to be
change) Rom. 8:23

The nature of adoption:

Justification puts the believer into right relationship with God and adoption takes
hi a step closer to God into the royal family. Regeneration involves being born
again by God but adoption amplifies this change of status. Adoption is also related
closely to union with Christ. Adoption is a change of both status and condition
objectively we become God’s children and subjectively we began to experience
God’s favor Much more intimate relationship with God. I John 3:1.
Adoption brings wonderful blessings:

a) Liberty, Rom.8: 14-16

b) Inheritance Gal. 4:4-7
c) Discipline Heb. 12:5-11

SANCTIFICATION: (set apart)

This is the continuation of salvation. It means set apart, being separated or
consecrated the state of more purity, more predominant and practical I Pet. 2:9; I
Cor. 1:2, sanctification is different from justification. Justification is instantaneous
or immediate but sanctification is continuous. Sanctification got degrees and
enablement. Sanctification is a supernatural work of God. It is a continuing work
of the Holy Spirit. The goal of sanctification is likeness to Christ sanctification is
the work of God yet believers role is not one of passivity but should be activity
sanctification is not automatic but much responsibility involves John 17:17; Eph.
5:26; I Thess. 5:23; Titus 4 II Thess. 2:13; I Pet. 1:2; I Cor. 1:18; Phil. 1:6; Rom.
8:1; 4:4,13; Gal. 6:33; Col. 3:10; 3:5; 8:12; Rom. 12:1; Phil. 2:12,13. The means

60
of sanctification is by the word of God by the Holy Spirit, by the blood of Christ,
by prayer. Sanctification will not be completed until the rapture I Thess. 5:23.

PERSEVERANCE: (eternal security)

The issue is will a believer persist in the state or is it possible to lose
salvation? John 10:27-29, Rom. 8; I Pet. 1:3-5; I John 5:30; Jude 24. Paul teaches
that salvation is secure. The Holy Spirit sealing ministry and the guarantee of
God’s word, the faithfulness of God teaches that we are save forever. Jude 24, 21;
I Pet. 1:4, 5; 5:10; Heb. 9:12-15; II Tim. 2:19; I Cor. 10:13; II Thess. 3:13; II
Cor.1:22; Eph. 4:30. These are importance reverences fro security of salvation
Christians persevere by virtue of God’s effectual preservation.
There are some teaches that believers can fall away and lose their salvation.
They take the passage such as: Matt. 24:24; I Cor. 10:12; Heb. 3:12-14; 6:4-
12;10:26,27; John 5:1-8; John 15;16. Example: King Saul, Ananias and Sapphire,
Darius, Nebuchadnezzar, Philip, Judas Iscariot etc.
There are some passage clearly speaks of falls professions. Matt. 7:21-23;
Acts 20:23; I John 2:18, 19, that strongly points the eternal security. Another
argument for eternal security is theological because we are saved, put into the
body of Christ, place into the family of God, have all inheritance and sealed
forever by the Holy Spirit.
The major argument is on the basis of doctrinal convictions:

1. The faithful inspired teaching of the scripture Eph. 1:4;Rom. 8; I Pet. 1:1,2;
John 10, the doctrinal consideration are:
2. The completeness of Christ atoning provisions
3. The pardon from all sin
4. The reception of Christ righteousness
5. Regeneration by the Holy Spirit.
6. The witness and abiding ministry of the Holy Spirit.
7. The transforming ministry of the Holy Spirit
8. The ministry of Christ the advocate before the throne of grace.
9. The reality of the unconditional gift of eternal life.

GLORIFICATION: (Goal and final state of salvation) glorification in the

presence of God.
Glorification:
1). Redemption of the body Rom.8:23; I John. 3:2; I Cor. 2:15, 38,50.
Present body New body
Perishable Imperishable / incorruptible
Dishonor (shameful) Glorious
Weak Powerful
Physical Spiritual

61
2) Moral and spiritual perfection; Eph. 5:27; Phil.1:9-11; Col. 1:22
3) Full knowledge (we have partial knowledge in present) I Cor. 13:12
4) Instantaneous changes (immediate) I Cor. 15:1, 2; I Thess. 4:17.
5) Creation will all be renewed, (no more curse) Rom. 8:21; Rev. 21:1, 3
6) We bear the image of the heavenly
7) God is glorious and all glory is God and we will receive glory from God. I Tim.
3:16; Heb. 2:10; Rev.21:23; Rom. 8:18, 21, 30; I Pet. 1:7; 5:1; 4:10.

ECCLESIOLOGY
(Study about the Church)

Kingdom and church, both are different entity. This age is called church/
grace age Acts 9 Jesus identifies. Himself with the church (church and Christ is
same). Paul persecutes the church. Ephesians Chap- 5 says Christ died fro the
church I Thess. 1 church is the church of God. The supreme business of god is this
age is gathering the church, someday He will come Eph. 1:12.

Definition:
The word church means “called out ones” or “assembly”. In the Old
Testament Israel’s called as assembly. It says church in the wilderness. It means a
group of people. Acts 7:28. In the New Testament the word is used very
particularly, Christian church is a New Testament institution beginning with
Pentecost and ending with the rapture. (Acts 2 – I Thess. 4)
Two words are important:
1. Ecclesia: (Greek) in New Testament we find 111 times, it is also used in secular
sense. The assembly of believer in Christ and the same are said to be called out
ones. Matt.16:18; I Cor. 1:2; Eph. 5:25-27; Rom. 8:30; II Cor. 6:17.
2. Kuriakon (Greek) “that which belongs to the Lord”. I Cor. 11:20; Rev. 1:10;

and authority.
CHURCH: The church is compost of the body of believer who has been called
out from the world and who is under the dominion and authority of Jesus Christ.
DISTINGTION; The church is not the kingdom but the church is within the
kingdom .there are two aspect for the church (visible and invisible, local and
universal).Acts.2:-1Thes.4. (Invisible church or universal church) all the born
again whether death or living.

62
A gathering of a believer in a local place is called local church or visible
church ,whose name are recorded in church register that is visible church but name
are written in the lamb book of life that is invisible church. There is actual and
ideal Heb.12:23; 1Cor.1 the church upon the earth is militant but the church in the
heaven is triumphant.

ESCHATOLOGY
(Study about last things)

Comes from Eschatos – last, latter, final etc

Logos – study, doctrine
The scope of eschatology includes all things that are future at the time of
their writing but in the limited sense things that are still in the future from the
present time. About 25 percent of the bible was prophetic when it was written. The
Holy Spirit moved the human author to write the future events. Many are fulfilled
and many are yet to fulfill.
Benefits of studying the last things:

 Proved the absolute trustworthiness of the scripture

 Promote a Holy living I John 3:3
 Produce joy in times of adversity II Cor. 4:17,18
 Provide peace and certainty for future I Cor. 6:14.
 Promote to worship God who is in complete of the future Phil. 3:21.

There are five dangers can happen as we study of the future:

 Prophecy is sealed up so it is beyond of our understanding and

comprehensive.
 Thereby, we neglect other important Bible theme, only emphasizes in
prophecy.
 Speculation (imagine)
 Sensationalism
 Applying the prophecy with current events.

64
Eschatology study can be done not easily or without effort. One of the
ministries of the Holy Spirit according to John 16:13and Isa. 42:9 that He teaches
and enlightens and shows the things to come.

There are eight major covenants out of those, four covenants are having
Eschatological covenant:

Covenant means testament / agreement

The division of the human race; there are only three divisions of the human
race: Jews, Gentiles, the Church of God, I Cor. 10:32. Of the many bible
prophecies that have already been fulfilled the most have to do with the life of
Christ, there are many prophecies literally fulfilled contemporary.
