safety and pollution prevention. Responsible for monitoring the safety and pollution prevention aspects
of the operation of each ship and ensuring that adequate resources and shore based support are
provided for day to day operations (IMO MSC-MEPC.7/Circ.6), and should use every opportunity to
engage with vessel Masters in order to facilitate and foster positive working relationships.
To act as Safety Culture “Ambassador”, working in close collaboration with the HSEQ team
implementing internal and external safety driven initiatives.
To ensure that the Fleet Management Teams and vessels operates to the highest safety, quality and
environmental standards by strict compliance with the SMS, IMO codes, conventions and Class rules .
Provide pro-active support to the Fleet Management teams in dealing with all marine, environmental,
quality, operational, security and compliance issues. Chairs environmental and safety culture
committees
To lead, manage and mentor the HSEQ Superintendents in order to maximise their full potential.
Compliance with Client expectations including active follow up and close out of issues raised. This
includes, but not limited to:
a. Vessel Inspections (Internal & External)
b. Audit Schedule (Internal & external)
c. Safety Inspections
d. Vetting
e. Communications.
f. Vessel maintenance program (in conjunction with Technical Superintendents)
Ensure compliance with the requirements of TMSA and drive implementation of processes for
continuous improvement.
Plan and lead TMSA Reviews by external companies including follow and close out actions.
Ensure that accidents, incidents and near misses on-board fleet vessels are properly investigated and
to make recommendations to prevent a recurrence. Ensure pro-active follow-up on corrective actions
with vessels as required.
Technical Manager
Provide technical management advice to port engineers, superintendents, ship masters and department
heads.
Monitor and ensure vessels and equipment are properly maintained in accordance with the PMS.
Develop and maintain excellent relationship with vendors for fleet support service.
Work together with Operations, Finance, HSQE, and Crew departments to ensure full Fleet operations.
Plan and mobilize port engineers and superintendents to meet work demands Prioritize tasks and
ensure efficient allocation of available resources Conduct pre-docking yard survey.
Ensuring compliance with all applicable national and international rules and regulations and the internal
requirements of the Company.
Marine inspection, survey and vetting of vessels – incl. performance and efficiency improvement,
evaluation of operations and work processes on board, condition documentation and follow up.
Providing technical and operational guidance and support to the Shipmaster, as required.
