HOW IMPORTANT IS HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT?

Those who fail to plan, plan to fail. This wisdom rings true in the field of human resources particularly
in the education landscape. Human resource management for educational institutions ensures that the right
number of people, with the right skills are in the right place and time. Human Resource is a term used to describe
all the people working in an organization. Human resource management is the function within an organization
that emphasizes on hiring and recruitment of employees, managing employees and giving them direction.
Human resource management plays a vital role in the success and development of an organization.

Human resource management is also a strategic and all-inclusive approach to managing individuals and
the organization’s culture and environment. Effective human resource management makes it possible for
workers to contribute effectively and efficiently to the overall wellbeing of the organization and to the
achievement of goals. Human resource management is currently moving away from the traditional methods of
personnel management.

Human Resource Management encompasses to embrace ways to manage the human skills and talent
and ensure that they work to achieve the organizational goals. Human resources are factors that any
organization value the most and without them it would be difficult for an organization to operate. I will provide
a reflection on a brief description of how the various aspects of Human Resource Management can be applied
together to perform the primary function of human resource management.

This reflection paper aims to understand the importance of the Human Resource Management in any
organizations we belong. In the school context, the human resources management oversees numerous issues
touching on the teaching and non-teaching personnel and their welfare. Other issues handled by human
resource in the Department of Education include compensation; performance management and appraisal;
organizational development; motivation of employees; staff development; grievance and disciplinary; and
communication among others.

Being remained employee of the Department of Education, I have learned a lot about the various aspect
that institute the Human Resource Management that include teacher and school head relationship, employee
and labor relation, compensation and benefit, safety and health, and human resource development. Similarly, I
was able to learn how human resource management employs promotion and affirmative action, and the
planning, recruitment and selection process.

I had known a cooperative in our barangay where I am one of the Board of Directors and was assigned
as human resource committee. We kept on bringing capable human assets to perform duties and responsibilities
that will make our cooperative competitive in the market. The cooperative ensured we employ ethical culture
within the cooperative and relate well to the general assembly, managers, and other employees.

To be a successful organization, I have learned that the organization must have a great Human
Resources Management (HRM). I learned how to support Human Resources (HR) with plans. I have recognized
the impact of external and internal environments within the organization; design HR systems to promote
positive behaviors among employees, establish staffing and compensation systems to attract, retain and
encourage the best employees, understand employee relations, manage change during difficult times and
influence these strategic HR skills that add important value to business decision-making. As society and
organizations grow and become more complex, HRM functions continue to expand into many areas vital to
organizational growth and success. To understand and apply human resource functions it must cover Equal
Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Action, Human Resource Planning, Recruitment, Selection,
Human Resource Development, Compensation and Benefits, Safety and Health, and Employee Labor and
Relations. I have learned that it doesn’t take one tool but takes all of these tools to accomplish the mission.

Finally, Human Resource Management is very important in every organization. According to Steve
Wynn, “Human Resources isn’t a thing we do. It’s the thing that runs our business.” This means that when given
the proper tools and the trust to be empowered and make decisions, HR can be one of the most vital voices at
the table in every organization to be more efficient and have quality producing place of work.
