PREFACE
The present report is the outcome of the Internship Program

of DRONACHARYA GOVERNMENT COLLEGE. The objective

of the internship program was to familiarize the student with the

implementation of the knowledge she earned on campus. The

3

practical knowledge is far different from the bookish knowledge that

a student achieves in an institution.

The major problem that I faced during my internship was that there

were not sufficient published documents available on the NIIT

foundation from where I could get any information about the

organisation. Due to the limitation of time, it was not possible to

include all the aspects of the NIIT foundation as it deals with

hundreds of different items.

The report focuses on a few of the important aspects of the mobilizing

like different types of slum areas provided to the fund.

An important thing that I feel important to mention is that in some

cases, some practices are performed which are not accepted

theoretically.

The present is not free of limitations. There might have problems

regarding lack of limitation in some aspects and also some minor

mistakes such as typing mistakes. These few drawbacks have

4

occurred merely due to time limitations and a lack of secondary

sources of information.

Though I have tried my best to keep the report free from errors, I

apologize if any error is found which was not deliberately made. If the

report can help any person in providing information, I will feel that

the purpose of the report has been fulfilled. Please feel free to contact

me if any question arises.

all including staff

BOARD OF ADVISORS
Our Board of Advisors is composed of an external group of

accomplished experts from various fields. They play a key role in

supporting the leadership team with their unbiased and innovative

20

advice. Each one of them brings in a dynamic perspective to the

functioning of the organisation.

LEADERSHIP TEAM

NIIT Foundation’s Leadership Team is a mix of dynamic

individuals with varied experiences which makes them

efficient in formulating decisions, strategizing and providing

21

the team with an effective guidance and unemployment in our

Country.
22

PROGRAMS

# SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS :

The large population of underprivileged youth residing in

urban slums lack or possess negligible vocational skills. This

prevents them from taking advantage of the vast employment

opportunities in the cities of India. Therefore, many youth

living in urban communities remain unemployed or under-

employed.
23

Skills training is one of the most powerful tools for making a

lasting impact on the lives of these young people and their

families. The aim is to make them self-reliant and instil

Changemaker qualities in each one of our students.

# HOLE-IN-THE-WALL LEARNING SESSION

Hole-in-the-Wall Learning Station is a unique concept

designed by Dr. Sugata Mitra, NIIT’s chief scientist emeritus.

The Learning Station is based on a pedagogy that promotes

minimal invasive education. The project with its innovative

methodology was first piloted in New Delhi. Dr. Mitra’s team

carved a ‘Hole-in-the-Wall’ – that separated NIIT premises

24

from the adjourning slum in Kalkaji. A computer was set up in

the hole. All who resided across the wall could freely access

this kiosk. The new machine very quickly caught the curiosity

of the children residing in the Kalkaji slum. It had opened a

whole new world for them. This pilot project revealed that

children, irrespective of their social and economic situation, if

given regular access and opportunity can benefit from simple

technology and self-learning.

# DIGITAL LITERACY PROGRAM

In the current digital age, it is difficult to imagine education

and learning without having access to technology and E-

learning content. Yet, there exists a huge digital gap in the

25

access and quality of education that is being provided to the

‘underprivileged’ sections of our society.

NIIT Foundation has made a number of significant

interventions in trying to bridge this divide and is striving

towards an inclusive and equitable digital India. One of the

key interventions in this direction has been the Digital

Literacy Program.

# FINANCAL LITERACY PROGRAM

Financial literacy program focuses on the ability to manage

personal finance matters in an efficient manner. It is a key life

skill required for an individual’s personal and professional

26

growth. It is important because it enables us to provide for

ourselves and avoids situations of debt. Where E–transaction is

becoming a way of life, financial inclusion is necessary and

only possible when people are financially literate.

NIIT Foundation recognizes the need for financial inclusion

and has partnered with key corporate partners to provide for a

sustained Financial Literacy Training Program in semi-urban

and parts of rural India.

# SCHOOL PROGRAM

“A Child Without Education is Like A Bird Without Wings”-

A Tibetan Proverb
27

NIIT Foundation works to ensure that children from

underserved communities are educated; they live with dignity

and develop better futures for themselves and their families.

Community School Programs is a specially designed program

that NIIT Foundation offers to government schools. Most of

these schools’ lack proper IT infrastructure, relevant

courseware and trained faculties. The Community School

program enable these schools to get access to a structured

mode of teaching resulting in well-learned students.

# DIGITAL BUS
28

Technology has always been at the forefront of development,

whether it is individual or national. Knowledge of and access

to information technology is strongly linked to a higher

standard of living, higher skills, and greater career

advancement. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the

immersion/use of technology in daily life has risen

exponentially.

Government policies and schemes, banking transactions, job

applications, and college admissions have all moved online to

improve accessibility and transparency, which ultimately

benefits citizens. However, there is a significant digital divide

in our country, especially for those living in isolated or remote

areas.
29

# NREACH FOR NGOs

India is a rapidly growing country with one of the largest

youth population in the world. According to the 2011 Census

data, 50% of the population is below 25 years of age. It is

expected that in 2020, the average age of Indians will be 29

years.

Under the NReach program, NIIT Foundation is building the

capacity of partner NGOs who are working on providing

training and education opportunities to underprovided youth

30

across the country. Through Reach, NIIT has partnered with

more than 200 NGOs and is equipping them with all the

necessary support to implement quality programmes that will

benefit our youth.Faculity training, curriculum, assessments

and industry recognized certification are some of the key

offerings being provided to the partner organization.

# INCREASE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ‘SOCTIES’.

Social responsibility means that businesses, in addition to

maximizing shareholder value, must act in a manner benefiting

society, not just the bottom line. Social responsibility has become

increasingly important to investors and consumers who seek

investments that not only are profitable but also contribute to the

welfare of society and the environment. While critics have

traditionally argued that the basic nature of business does not

consider society as a stakeholder, younger generations are embracing

social responsibility and driving change.

 Social responsibility means that besides maximizing shareholder

value, businesses should operate in a way that benefits society.

 Socially responsible companies should adopt policies that promote

the well-being of society and the environment while lessening

negative impacts on them.

 Companies can act responsibly in many ways, such as by

promoting volunteering, making changes that benefit the

35

environment, engaging in ethical labor practices, and engaging in

charitable giving.

 Consumers are more actively looking to buy goods and services

from socially responsible companies, hence impacting their

profitability.

# MANAGEMENT SKILLS.

Management skills are abilities and traits needed to perform certain

duties, usually as it pertains to overseeing a team, such as solving

problems, communicating well, and motivating employees. Such skills

can be learned, through practical experience, or in courses and then

honed on the job. Interpersonal skills are essential to maintaining good

relationships and team spirit, while technical skills enable managers to

knowledgeably coach newer team members.

Management skills are necessary across industries: managers can be

found in investment firms, start-ups, bars and restaurants, government

36

agencies, and more. Here is a list of key management skills you might

consider for your resume:

# TEACHING SKILLS

Teaching offers the chance to change other people's lives permanently

for the better.

38

As a teacher you can help to develop somebody's subject knowledge

and maybe even their mind and personality.

Teaching is an incredibly rewarding thing to do and good teachers are

needed everywhere: in schools and college classrooms to educate the

young, as well as in the workplace and other settings to teach adults

and colleagues.

One-on-one teachers may tutor someone in a particular subject or for

their wider personal development.

However, teaching anyone can also be tiring, stressful and

demanding. It is a responsibility and any slip up is very visible.

People's minds and motivation vary a great deal and teachers have to

find many different ways to connect with their students.

Teaching is not always recognised for being the difficult task that it is

in terms of status or financial reward.

39

# ESTABLISHMENT OF ‘HEALTHY SOCIETY’

According to the World Health Organisation, Health Education is any

combination of learning experiences designed to help individuals and

43

communities improve their health, by increasing their knowledge or

influencing their attitudes.

Health Education simply is imparting the knowledge of how to

prevent diseases, maintain good health, and steps to take to cure an

already established disease. Health Education takes into account all

the aspects of health( physical, emotional, social, and spiritual) when

giving out this knowledge.

Health Promotion is the ability to provide the public or the population

being educated with tools to change their behaviours for good health.

From these definitions, we can see that Health Education and Health

Promotion go hand in hand. Any health education attempt without

providing the tools to implement this knowledge is not sustainable

and vice versa.

# TYPES OF DATA IN MODERN NIIT FOUNDATION

 Structured Data: Structured data refers to data that is highly organized
and that exists within a fixed format, such as a table or CSV file, with
each element having a specific and predefined meaning. Structured data
is typically easier to query and analyses than unstructured data.

 Unstructured Data: Unstructured data refers to data that has no clear,

predefined format and, therefore, cannot be easily organized into a
structured model for querying and analysis. Unstructured data can take
many forms, such as text, images, audio files, and videos.
64

 Relational Data: Relational data refers to structured data organized in a

tabular format, known as a relational database. Each row within a
relational database holds a record with a unique identifier, or key, and
each column holds the attributes of the data. This format enables
organizations to not only organize data, but to identify relationships
between tables, which allows for flexible querying and analysis.

 Streaming Data: Streaming data refers to a continuous flow of data that is

generated from many different sources. In the banking industry, these
sources may include credit card transactions, stock market data,
customer service interactions, and ATM transactions. Streaming data is
often processed and analysed in real time.
