(a student will read the slide content)

And what could be the reasons why we should use graphic

(Students will give their idea or possible
answers.)

Aside from using it in school lessons, you may be able to apply

your knowledge of graphic organizers once you are already in
your chosen career path, or on your workplace.

To do this, you must be able to pitch in your ideas in a simple

but concise manner. You may be able to do this through the use
of graphic organizers.

We will find out what other graphic organizers can we use

through this activity.

Activity 2: ARRANGE ME!

(The teacher will prepare a blank graphic organizer. She will
then give the following directions.)
(The class will be divided into 3 groups. Each group will
analyze and organize the following words they are given.) Each
group will be given 2 minutes to do the task and 2 minutes to
present.

Directions:
Group 1: Arrange and organize in sequence the related words
and phrases in a graphic organizer “FLOW CHART”.

Group 2: Arrange and fill in the missing details in the CHAINS

OF EVENTS regarding the Scientific Method.

Group 3: Arrange and organize in sequence the related words

and phrases in a graphic organizer “CYCLE”.
E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #2
Now, let’s reveal your work in the class. (Each group will
post their work on the board and share their thoughts about a
certain type of graphic organizer. Group 1:

(The teacher as facilitator will then only add additional

information)

Let us start with the work of group 1.

Very good! Group 1 used flow chart organizer. Flow Chart is a

diagram of a sequence of related ideas and events in
chronological order.

Next, Group 2. Group 2:

Good job, group 2. So, they are using series of events chain
organizer.
Series of events chain is used to show the logical sequence of
events.

And now, the last but not the least, group 3. Group 3:

Very good! The group 3 presents their output with the use of
cycle organizer.

Cycle describes how a series of events interact to produce a set

of results repeatedly.
Some examples of events that require a cycle are water cycle,
life cycle, and poverty cycle.

Do you have any questions or clarifications?

None, ma’am.
F. Developing mastery (Lead to formative assessment)
Activity 3: Tell Me!

Again, please tell what type of graphic organizer is shown:

1.
1. Venn Diagram

2. 2. Problem-Solution Map
3.
3. Series of Events Chain

4.
4. Cycle

5. 5. Flow chart

That’s awesome! Why is it important for us to use graphic

organizer?

Very well said, Ms. ______________ (Students’ answers may vary)

Do you have any further questions about our topic, class?

Skills
Activity 4: SHOW ME!

I know for sure that you have understood our lesson, so let us
have another group activity.

With the same group, you will be given tasks and you will then
present your output in the form of a graphic organizer.

Here are the mechanics of the activity:

1. The class will be divided into three (3) groups.
2. Each group will do a creative presentation regarding the
topic being discussed.
3. Each team will be given different paragraphs with
varied structure. You will identify the relationship of
ideas in the paragraph.
4. Each group will present these ideas using the
appropriate graphic organizer.
5. The preparation time is 7 minutes and the time limit for
the presentation is only 3 minutes.
6. The order of presentation will begin from Group 1, then
group 2, followed by group 3.

Here is the list of tasks and your given graphic organizer.

Group 1: Lately a problem has occurred with teen smoking. The

number of young smokers has been increasing in most middle
schools and high schools. Both girls and boys are smoking
because they think it is cool. Many of them will take this trend
and carry it for their adulthood. However, this latest problem,
teen smoking can be stopped by educating youth and
preventing media pressure. (Problem-Solution Map)
Group 2: Linux and Windows are both operating systems.
Computers use them to run programs. Linux is totally free and
open source, so users can improve or otherwise modify the
source code. Windows is proprietary, so it costs money to use
and users are prohibited from altering the source code. (Venn
Diagram)

Group 3: before applying the screen protector, clean the surface

of your phone’s screen with a soft cloth. Once the surface of
your screen is clean, remove the paper backing on the screen
protector. Evenly apply the sticky side of the screen protector to
your phone’s screen. Smooth out any air bubble trapped on
between the protector and the phone screen. Enjoy the added
protection. (Series of Event Chain)

Are the directions clear?

Go to your groups in a quiet and orderly manner.

Yes, ma’am.

group and begin the preparations for the

applause.
(After 7 minutes, each group will be given
3 minutes for their respective presentation.)

lesson

lesson.
