SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN INQUIRIES, INVESTIGATION, AND


IMMERSION
TOPIC: Reading on Related Studies (Module 3: Lessons 1 and 2)
LEARNING COMPETENCIES:
A. Select, cite, and synthesize related literature
B. Uses sources according to ethical standards (at least 4 to 6 local and international
sources)

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson the students will be able to:
● determine terms related to studies,

● gather and synthesize information from different sources,

● familiarize the different citation styles and formats,

● appreciate the importance of following the citation styles in using sources; and

● write citations correctly on the sources used in a research study.

II. MATERIALS
A. EQUIPMENT: pen, paper, marker, whiteboard, projector, laptop, PowerPoint
presentation

 What is Review of Related Literature?
Define what RRL is. Also discuss the major types of RRL sources.

Lesson 2: Citation of Related Literature

 Present the 2 manners of citing sources: in-text citation and referencing


list
 Introduce the 3 citation styles: American Psychological Association
(APA), Modern Language Association (MLA), and Chicago Manual of
Style (CMS)

4. Activities
The teacher will ask the students to answer Activity 1.

(The activity will be projected on the white board)

Directions: Determine whether the following citations use APA, MLA, or CMS
citation styles. Write your answers on the space provided.

5. Application
The students will be asked by the teacher to do Activity 2.

(The activity will be projected on the white board)

Direction: Using the information in the boxes, convert them into an appropriate
bibliographical entry.

C. EVALUATION
Answer the following question on your quiz notebook.

1. Why citing sources or acknowledging sources is important in


writing a research paper?
2. What is Plagiarism? Explain.
