MATERIALS AND TOOLS USED:

DIFFICULTY:
Suitable for beginners
GAUGE:
You can use any yarn that you prefer or have on hand for this project
with appropriate hook size that’s tight enough that gaps are not clearly
visible.
TERMINOLOGY:
This pattern uses US terminology and is worked in a continuous round
FINISHED SIZE:
Using a 1.10mm size hook with Monaco Mercerized Cotton 8, my
duckies came out 3cm long Using 2.25mm hook and acrylic yarn,
duckies came out 6cm long.
ABBREVIATIONS:
R- round
ch – chain
st – stitch
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dc - double crochet
inc – increase
dec – invisible decrease
[..] – number of stitches in the round

BABY DUCKIES PATTERN
The yarn colors for the mallard duck are indicated in the pattern. If you wish to make
rubber duckies, just follow the sample pictures with yellow yarn for the head/body
and orange for the bill.

Body – Make in dark brown
R1 - Ch 8, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 5 sts across chain, 4sc in next
st, sc in next 5 sts across other side of chain, 4sc in next st [19]
Insert stitch marker after last sc of round 1.
R2 - Sc in next 7 sts, 3sc in next st, inc in next st, sc in next 7 sts,
inc in next 3 sts [25]
R3 - Sc in next 8 sts, inc in next 3 sts, sc in next 10 sts, inc in next 3 sts,
sc in next st [31]
R4 - Sc in next 11 sts, dec, sc in next 18 sts [30]
R5- Sc in next 10 sts, dec, sc in next 18 sts [29]
R6 - Sc in next 9 sts, dec x2, sc in next 11 sts, dec, sc in next 3 [26]
R7 - Sc in next 8 sts, dec x 2, sc in next 14 sts [24]
Stuff body with fiberfill
R8 - (sc in next 2 sts, dec) x 6 [18]
R9 - (sc in next st, dec) x 6 [12]
R10 - Decrease 6 times around [6]
Finish off and leave long tail for sewing. Sew close

To complete the mallard duck, we will make the wings and legs. You can skip
this part if you're making a rubber ducky.
Assembly
1. Sew on the duck’s bill between the eyes.
2. Sew head onto round end of body
3. Sew wings onto side of body
4. Sew legs onto underside of ducks body
5. (optional) sew or add pink blush to cheeks
