MATERIALS AND TOOLS USED:

For Mini Duckie For Palm-sized Duckie


Monaco Mercerized Cotton Thread Monaco Acrylic Yarn (3-ply)
1.10mm Crochet Hook 2.25mm Crochet Hook
(2) Safety eyes 3mm (2) Safety eyes 6mm

General
Stitch Marker
Embroidery/sewing threads in black and grey
Tapestry/sewing needle
Toy stuffing
Scissors

DIFFICULTY:
Suitable for beginners

GAUGE:
You can use any yarn that you prefer or have on hand for this project
with appropriate hook size that’s tight enough that gaps are not clearly
visible.

TERMINOLOGY:
This pattern uses US terminology and is worked in a continuous round

FINISHED SIZE:
Using a 1.10mm size hook with Monaco Mercerized Cotton 8, my
duckies came out 3cm long Using 2.25mm hook and acrylic yarn,
duckies came out 6cm long.

ABBREVIATIONS:
R- round
ch – chain
st – stitch
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dc - double crochet
inc – increase
dec – invisible decrease
[..] – number of stitches in the round
s2color - switch to *yarncolor*

BABY DUCKIES PATTERN
The yarn colors for the mallard duck are indicated in the pattern. If you wish to make
rubber duckies, just follow the sample pictures with yellow yarn for the head/body
and orange for the bill.

Head – Make in forest green


R1 - Do 6sc in magic ring [6]
R2 - inc in each st around (6 times) [12]
R3 - (inc, sc in next st) x 6 [18]
R4 - (inc, sc in next 2 st) x 6 [24]
R5-9 - sc in each st around (5 rounds) [24]
R10 - (dec, sc in next 2 st) x 6 [18]
Insert safety eyes between rounds 4 & 5. About 7 sts apart.
Stuff with polyfill.
R11 - (dec, sc in next st) x 6 [18]
R12 - s2white dec in each st [6]
Finish off and close leaving long tail for sewing.

Bill – Make in yellow


R1 - Ch 4, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next st, inc, sc in next 2 sts, inc [8]
R2 - sc in each st around [8]
Finish off and leave long tail for sewing. Sew close.

Body – Make in dark brown
R1 - Ch 8, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 5 sts across chain, 4sc in next
st, sc in next 5 sts across other side of chain, 4sc in next st [19]
Insert stitch marker after last sc of round 1.
R2 - Sc in next 7 sts, 3sc in next st, inc in next st, sc in next 7 sts,
inc in next 3 sts [25]
R3 - Sc in next 8 sts, inc in next 3 sts, sc in next 10 sts, inc in next 3 sts,
sc in next st [31]
R4 - Sc in next 11 sts, dec, sc in next 18 sts [30]
R5- Sc in next 10 sts, dec, sc in next 18 sts [29]
R6 - Sc in next 9 sts, dec x2, sc in next 11 sts, dec, sc in next 3 [26]
R7 - Sc in next 8 sts, dec x 2, sc in next 14 sts [24]
Stuff body with fiberfill
R8 - (sc in next 2 sts, dec) x 6 [18]
R9 - (sc in next st, dec) x 6 [12]
R10 - Decrease 6 times around [6]
Finish off and leave long tail for sewing. Sew close

To complete the mallard duck, we will make the wings and legs. You can skip
this part if you're making a rubber ducky.

Right wing - Make in light beige


ch 6, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next st, hdc, dc, dc 5 times in next st,
sc in next, sl st in next 3 st
Finish off with long tail for sewing.

Repeat pattern backwards for left side.


Left wing
ch 6, sl st in next 3 st, sc, dc x5 in next st, dc, hdc, sc
Finish off with long tail for sewing

Feet - Make 2 in Orange


Ch 2 and hdc in 2nd ch from hook.
Finish off and leave long tail for sewing

Assembly
1. Sew on the duck’s bill between the eyes.
2. Sew head onto round end of body
3. Sew wings onto side of body
4. Sew legs onto underside of ducks body
5. (optional) sew or add pink blush to cheeks

Note: Attach the individual parts to


the body with sewing pins before
sewing to make sure you’re happy
with the placement.
