ABSTRACT

Purpose This paper aims to provide an overview of key definitions related to

ChatGPT, a public tool developed by OpenAI, and its underlying technology, Generative
Pretrained Transformer (GPT). This paper includes an interview with ChatGPT on its
potential impact on academic libraries. The interview discusses the benefits of ChatGPT
such as improving search and discovery, reference and information service cataloging,
metadata generation, and content creation. As well as the ethical considerations that need to
be taken into account, such as privacy and bias. Findings ChatGPT has considerable power
to advance academia and librarianship in both anxiety-provoking and exciting new ways.
However, it is important to consider how to use this technology responsibly and ethically,
and to uncover how we, as professionals, can work alongside this technology to improve our
work, rather than to abuse it or allow it to abuse us in the race to create new scholarly
knowledge and educate future professionals. This paper discusses the history and
technology of GPT, including its generative pretrained transformer model, its ability to
perform a wide range of language-based tasks and how ChatGPT uses this technology to
function as a sophisticated chatbot.

INTRODUCTION

1.0 WHAT IS AI (ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE)?

A simple in definition might be as follow:

We have claimed that AI is excited, but we have not said what it is. Artificial
Intelligent is the study of system that act in a way that to any observer would appear
to be intelligent. This definition is fine, but in fact it does not cover the whole of
Artificial Intelligent technique are used to solve relatively simple problems or complex
problems that internal to more complex systems. For example, the search techniques
are rarely used to provide a robot with the ability to find its way out of a maze but are
frequently used for much more prosaic problems.

1.1 WHAT IS CHATGPT ?

ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot that uses natural language

processing to create humanlike conversational dialogue. The language model can
respond to questions and compose various written content, including articles, social
media posts, essays, code, and emails. ChatGPT is a form of generative AI, a tool that
lets users enter prompts to receive humanlike images, text or videos that are created
by AI. ChatGPT is like the automated chat services found on customer service
websites, as people can ask it questions or request clarification to ChatGPT's replies.
The GPT stands for "Generative Pre-trained Transformer," which refers to how
ChatGPT processes requests and formulates responses. ChatGPT is trained with
reinforcement learning through human feedback and reward models that rank the best
responses. This feedback helps augment ChatGPT with machine learning to improve
future responses.

2.0 WHO CREATED CHATGPT?

OpenAI an artificial intelligence research company created ChatGPT and

launched the tool in November 2022. It was founded by a group of entrepreneurs and
researchers including Elon Musk and Sam Altman in 2015. OpenAI is backed by
several investors, with Microsoft being the most notable. OpenAI also created Dall-E,
an AI text-to-art generator.

3.0 IS THERE A CHATGPT APPS?

Yes, an official ChatGPT app is available for both iPhone and Android users.
However, when looking on the app that is created by OpenAI because there is a
plethora of copycat fake apps listed on the App Store and Play Store that are not
ChatGPT affiliated.

This year’s back to school season brings a new challenge for managing the
impact of ChatGPT and other AI tools. To helps ease the transition for both teachers
and students, OpenAI shared ways that teachers can leverage the technology to
optimize their workflow and learning.

OpenAI’ blog post identifies four ways real teachers are using ChatGPT,
including role playing conversations, building classroom materials, providing English
language assistance for non-English speakers and teaching students about critical
thinking.

Through the role-playing conversations use case, teachers can use ChatGPT
as a stand in for different personas that can help them prepare for questions or
reactions that others may have about the lessons.

For example, a teacher can ask ChatGPT to spot weaknesses in the lesson
delivery or areas that need more reinforcement by role playing a student or a school
superintendent, this can help them prepare for when students have the same
questions and prevent gaps of understanding in the classroom.

For example, in the blog post, Frans Bellas, a professor at Universidad da

Coruna in Spain, shared this curriculum with ChatGPT and asked it to generate fresh
quizzes, lesson plans and test questions.

One of the lesser known featured of ChatGPT is its ability to help assist
students who are non-English speakers by encouraging them to use the AI tool for
translating, proofreading, and even practicing conversation by role playing with the
chatbot

Lastly, OpenAI suggests that teachers can use ChatGPT to teach students
about critical thinking. The company encourages teachers to help students deduce
which AI answers are credible and how to confirm them with other sources

4.0 How are people using ChatGPT

ChatGPT is versatile and can be used for more than human conversations. People
have used ChatGPT to do the following:

• Created articles and blog posts for websites

• Code computer program and check for bugs in code
• Summarize articles, podcast, or presentation
• Research markets of product
• Write video scripts

5.0 What are the benefits of ChatGPT

Businesses and users are still exploring the benefits of ChatGPT as the program
continues to evolve. Some benefits include the following:

• Efficiency
AI-powered chatbots can handle routine and repetitive tasks, which can free
up employees to focus on more complex and strategic responsibilities.

• Cost savings
Using AI chatbots can be more cost-effective than hiring and training
employees.
• Improved content quality
Writers can use ChatGPT to improve grammatical or contextual errors or to
help brainstorm ideas for content. Employees can take ordinary text and ask to
improve its language or add expressions.

• Education and training

ChatGPT can help provide explanations on more complex topics to help
serve as a virtual tutor. Users can also ask for guides and any needed clarification on
responses.

• Better response time

ChatGPT provides instant responses, which reduces wait times for users
seeking assistance.

6.0 What is ChatGPT used for?

-Text Generation

It can be used to generate text(response) just like humans. This also makes it
a chat box for creating chat bots for purposes such as customer service, answering
questions in online forums or creating content or social content for social media post

-Text Summary

ChatGPT is capable of summarizing many and long documents and articles

into a comprehensive summary, making it easier for people to read and understand.

-Language Translation

It can help translate text from another language to another language correctly
and more effectively to make it easier for the public.

7.0 Is ChatGPT better than Google?

ChatGPT is a language model created to hold a conversation with the end

user. A search engine indexes web pages on the internet to help the user find the
information they asked for. Therefore, one is not better than the other as they suit
different purposes. If you are searching for up-to-date accurate information, then a
search engine is your best bet.

The free version of ChatGPT does not have the ability to search the internet
for information. It uses the information it learned from training data to generate a
response which leaves room for error.

 Another major difference is that ChatGPT only has access to information up
to 2021, whereas a regular search engine like Google has access to the latest
information. So, if you ask the free version of ChatGPT, who won the world cup in
2022, it wouldn’t be able to give you a response, but Google would.

If you are a ChatGPT Plus subscriber, you have access to Bing’s integration
into ChatGPT which gives the chatbot access to the internet. Since it has the ability
to index the web, the major difference between ChatGPT Plus and a search engine is
the chatbot’s ability to understand natural language prompts and provide
conversational answers.

If you are in search of a platform that can explain complex topics in an easy-
to-understand manner, then ChatGPT might be a better alternative

8.0 how can you access ChatGPT?

access ChatGPT, create an OpenAI account. Go to chat.openai.com and

then select "sign up'' and enter an email address, or use a Google or Microsoft
account to log in. After signing up, type a prompt or question in the message box on
the ChatGPT homepage. Users can then do the following:

-Enter a different prompt for a new query or ask for clarification

-Regenerate the response
-Like or dislike the response with the thumbs up or thumbs down option
-Copy the respon

CONCLUSION

Everyone know ChatGPT is a great resource for education, health, marketing,

technology, services and managment . Rather than replacing workers, ChatGPT can
be used as support for job functions and creating new job opportunities to avoid loss
of employment. For example, lawyers can use ChatGPT to create summaries of case
notes and draft contracts or agreements. And copywriters can use ChatGPT for
article outlines and headline ideas also undertaking a job search can be tedious and
difficult, and ChatGPT can help you lighten the load. ChatGPT can build your resume
and write a cover letter. AI ChatGPT also has pros and cons for the current
generation even though AI ChatGPT will be our next generation.

Back to the school,If you've been putting off writing a paper because you
don't know where to begin, ChatGPT can help with that and many other writing
tasks.In the field of education nowadays, it really helps students as humans to
understand and complete a task, for example students use ChatGPT to explain a
problem and it helps generate a solution to the problem.
Not only that ChatGPT can do much more than just write an essay for you (which
would be considered plagiarism). A more useful trick is how it can help guide your
writing process. We show you how to use ChatGPT to do both the writing and
assisting, as well as some other helpful writing tips.

ChatGPT is an advanced chatbot that has the potential to both make people's
lives easier and assist with everyday tedious tasks, such as writing emails or
navigating the web for answers. However, certain technical details must be figured
out before it's widely used to prevent negative outcomes, including the spread of
misinformation. In general, AI and machine learning (ML) models rely on lots of
training and fine-tuning to reach a level of ideal performance.
