PERFORMANCE TASK
MOST ESSENTIAL LEARNING COMPETENCY
 Infer the series of amino acid from a DNA molecule

OBJECTIVES
 Practice solving problems involving protein synthesis

WHAT’S IN
Soon, we are not sure if the earth still exists. So, your batch, a group of scientists conducted an
exploration of the different planets that could be habitable by humans. Your group obtained a
sample of DNA of different organisms in several different planets. Your mission is to identify and
decode the unknown organism using the process of protein synthesis. And decide whether humans
can live together with the decoded organism.
This worksheet will serve as a guide in making the mysterious monster lab activity.

Directions:
1. Choose a trait number on the given table below. CHOOSE ONLY ONE TRAIT NUMBER PER
TRAIT.

2. Using your chosen trait number as the leading strand of DNA, proceed to the process of protein
synthesis. Follow the format given. WRITE LEGIBLY.

Trait:

a. There are 7 traits given, therefore you should make 7 tables with the format given. Use a
separate sheet of SHORT BOND PAPER. You can print your tables, if you want and if you

have the resources. Handwritten works are also highly encouraged 😊you will submit your
answer to the tables via google form.
b. Complete the process of protein synthesis until a series of amino acids for each trait,
therefore, you will have 7 series of amino acids, 1 for each trait.
3. After writing the series of amino acid, the table below will show the corresponding trait.
a. Using the 7 series of amino acid from last session, look for its matching series of amino
acid from the table below. Record the corresponding traits.
b. If you can’t find the series of amino acid from the table given, check your series of amino
acid. Go back to your process of protein synthesis and review your answer.
c. STRICTLY NO CHANGING OF TRAIT NUMBER.
