 Solved Example:
It is required to design a non – traditional formwork system for an
elevated concrete floor slab as shown in figure (1) using the following
data:
Slab thickness =200 mm.
Ceiling height = 2.8 m.
Sheathing will be plywood class (1) 25 mm .
Main and secondary beams will be high performing.
Weight of forms= 0.4 Kpa.
Shores are metal props.

Step(1):

Vertical Load
• D.L:
𝑤𝑡. 𝑜𝑓 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑐. = 𝑡𝑠 × ɣ𝑐 = 0.2 × 25 = 5 𝑘𝑝𝑎

∴ 𝐷. 𝐿 = 5 + 0.4 = 5.4 𝑘𝑝𝑎
