Project Summary

A. Name of the Business

Flavored pie is a locally owned business. The researchers

named the business as flavored pie due to the various flavors of the product.

Flavored pie is the answer to an increasing demand for snack-type food, to be

consumed while walking or after an activity inside the school. These pies will

entice youngsters to bring their friends and family with product innovative

environment and selection of unique viand flavors in pie.

Figure 1. Logo of the Business

The logo of the Flavored Pie designed simply and easy to

remember by the customer. It has a cookie-man which signifies that the

Flavored Pie is a food which will be cook through baking.

B. Description of the Industry

Food industry, from that point onward, has the most astounding rate on

requests. Nourishment is a substance that human body expected to procure

vitality. Flavored Pie has a place with the food business since it is a pie that

has distinctive viand flavors. In 2018, intense and outlandish flavors, eating,

and well-being and health are still in the cutting edge for purchaser

nourishment inclinations, however in a considerably increasingly raised

manner. Shoppers need strengthened and useful nourishments that advance

gut well-being, fuel their brains and advantage for their physical appearance.

Grocery shelves will continue to be stacked with products like

kombucha and others that provide additional function to consumers’ bodies.

Consumers also want foods that are not only good for them, but good for

others, whether the food they eat is a product like the Impossible Burger, a

plant-based, faux meat, or is in environmentally friendly packaging. More than

millennials, Generation-Z consumers are “clean eaters” and have a strong

interest in not only what the product is but how it is made and by whom. With

today’s instant access to information, if a consumer can’t understand or find

out where and how a product is made and what’s in it, they’ll be more inclined

to leave it behind. The rise of clean labels and sustainability efforts will

continue, but so will the rise of positive branding by companies that are

leading in being good and also doing good.

According to the changing consumer preferences, people nowadays

want innovation on the food product so that the proponents come up with the

idea of having a pie with different Filipino viand flavors. Food Industry, the
Worldwide food and beverage industry is developing at around 5% per year

and worldwide use on sustenance items by shoppers is relied upon to reach

US$20 trillion by 2030. Key patterns for new item improvement are in well-

being, comfort, naturality and maintainability.

C. Business Description

Flavored pie will provide the market with various types of flavors

in the pies. This food product will help the consumers to full their stomach

when they are starving.

Due to the increase of demand in snack-type foods, the

consumers mostly want the easy-to-eat or ready-to-eat foods for their

stomach. A snack is a small service of food and generally eaten between

meals. Snacks come in a variety of forms including packaged snack foods and

other processed foods, as well as items made from fresh ingredients at home.

Traditionally, snacks are prepared from ingredients commonly available

at home without a great deal of preparation. Often biscuits, chocolate, cold

cuts, fruits, leftovers, nuts, popcorn, sandwiches, and sweets are used as

snacks. The Dagwood sandwich was originally the humorous result of a

cartoon character's desire for large snacks. With the spread of convenience

stores, packaged snack foods became a significant business. Snack foods

are typically designed to be portable, quick, and satisfying. Processed snack

foods, as one form of convenience food, are designed to be less perishable,

more durable, and more portable than prepared foods. Flavored pie often

contains substantial amounts of sweeteners, preservatives, and appealing

ingredients such as chocolate, peanuts, and specially-designed flavors.

The food products offered by Flavored Pie are similar to the snacks that

can be easily eat and satisfying depending on the flavor that buyers will

choose. Aside from ready-to-eat and easy to swallow, it is also delicious and

can be recommended once costumers already taste the pies.

Along with the various flavors of the pies, costumer can also ask for hot

or freshly cooked pies if the customer desires to eat it hot and newly cooked.

The pie used in the field of food business is commonly Buko Pie, which

has become the natural flavour of pie of all times. The consumers are already

known that kind of flavor, so that the entrepreneurs come up with an idea to

try new flavors and this time it is going to be the Filipino Adobo, Menudo and

Caldereta food.

The variety flavor of the product includes Chicken Adobo, Caldereta

and Menudo. Adobo is a Filipino dish that has soy sauce and vinegar.

Calderata, which comes from the word caldera meaning cauldron, is another

example of the many Spanish influences in Filipino cuisine. While similar to

afritada and mechado in preparation and use of tomatoes, potatoes, carrots,

and bell peppers, this hearty beef stew also includes liver spread and

shredded cheese to thicken the sauce and chili peppers to add

spice.Philippine adobo is a popular Filipino dish and cooking process in

Filipino cuisine that involves meat, seafood, or vegetables marinated in

vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, and black peppercorns, which is browned in oil,

and simmered in the marinade. And last is Menudo, also known as pancita or

mole de panza, is a traditional Mexican soup, made with cow's stomach in

broth with a red chili pepper base. It shares a name with a stew from the
Philippines made with pork and pork liver. Hominy, lime, onions, and oregano

are used to season the broth.

All of these viand flavors can be acquired by the customers that craves

and wanting for a food which can substitute in rice, this is perfect for the

consumers who are definitely decreasing weight or dieting.

D. Business Location

The business is located inside the Colegio de San Juan de

Letran – Calamba specifically inside the gym since target market of the

entrepreneurs are the students of LetranCalamba and it ensures the whole

safety of the consumers since the school is secured and it has security

personnel that surrounds the campus. The proponent believes that it is a

strategic location because the students are always tired due to the activities

and it is easy to see by the consumers since the stall is just in the side of the

gym. Customers will not have a hard time to go to the stall of Flavored Pie

because they will see it easily and can go to it easily if they are inside the gym

as well. As of now, the gym has other stalls, in short the Flavored Pie has

competitors. The location has the space that they can provide for the

stall.Illustration below (Figures 2-3) shows the layout of the Colegio de San

business will only use a little amount of capital unlike any other businesses

that will spend a lot of money just to provide the needs and wants of

The business is located inside the Colegio de San Juan de Letran –

Calamba specifically inside the gym since target market of the

entrepreneurs are the students of Letran-Calamba and it ensures the

whole safety of the consumers since the school is secured and it has

security guards that surrounds the campus. The proponent believes that it

is a strategic location because the students are always tired due to the

activities and it is easy to see by the consumers since the stall is just in the

side of the gym. Customers will not have a hard time to go to the stall of

Flavored Pie because they will see it easily and can go to it easily if they

are inside the gym as well. As of now, the gym has other stalls, in short the

Flavored Pie has competitors. The location has the space that they can

provide for the stall.Illustration below (Figures 2-3) shows the layout of the

CHAPTER V

Management Study

A. Business Organization

The Flavored Pie is a partnership type of organization among three

proponents. A partnership is a business with multiple owners, each of whom

has invested in the business. Some partnerships include individuals who work

in the business, while other partnerships may include partners who have

limited participation and also limited liability for the debts and lawsuits against

the business.

A partnership type of organization for Flavored Pie will let the business

run through the contribution of money, services, and properties of the

business. A business partnership is a specific kind of legal relationship formed

by the agreement three proponents to carry the Flavored Pie as co-owners. A

partnership is a business with multiple owners, each of whom has invested in

the business. Some partnerships include individuals who work in the

business, while other partnerships may include partners who have limited

participation and also limited liability for the debts and lawsuits against the

business.

A partnership, as different from a corporation, is not a separate entity

from the individual owners. A partnership is similar to a sole proprietor or

independent contractor business because in both of these businesses the

business isn't separate from the owners, for liability purposes.

The partnership income tax is paid by the partnership, but the profits

and losses are divided among the partners, and paid by the partners, based

on their agreement

During the implementation, this graph represents the period of time

each task was done. The proponents purchased raw materials every five days

starting from May 1 until May 25. The proponents bought raw materials in bulk

so that it would not be hard for the sellers to buy it by piece.

Starting May 3, the proponents started the implementation of the

product and marketing strategies that were put into effects. The sellers

marketed the product to inform the consumers about the Flavored Pie. During

the program of the Bazaar, the proponents designed a booth to make the

products sold and to be known by people.

E. Management Study Analysis

The business is a partnership between Flavored Pie proponents. The

entrepreneurs considered this to be the type of business due to the benefits it

can get. It gives the proponents the ability to decide everything regarding the

Flavored Pie.
Behind the success of all business, there are these skilled employees,

dedicated to their work and hardworking. Without the staffs, the business

would not be able to be successful.

Through the management study, the proponents will be able to

conclude that Flavored Pie has sufficient human resource. The three

proponents can handle all the roles needed for the success of the

business. However, when the business grows in the future, the proponents

will look forward in hiring new employees such as cashier/sales clerk, cook,

and baker. They have prepared the qualifications they will be looking for and

the compensation of benefits that an employee will receive if ever they hire

one. This is for the compliance with the Labor Code of the Philippines which

protects the rights of every employee or staff.

VII. Financial Study

A. Major Assumptions

capital of the business themselves using their personal savings. Each

proponent will contribute an amount of Php 1,667.67. In addition they will also

look into private financing sources such as family and friends.

Assumptions

The proponents made the following assumptions in projecting their financing

statements.

1. Sales in units increase by 10% yearly

2. Projected sale are based on the assumptions of the entrepreneurs

3. Selling price will remain the same

4. Additional tools will be bought yearly and the purchase will be double

every 3 years.

5. The cost of raw materials and tools will remain unchanged for 5 years

6. There is no income tax imposed on the net income

7. There is no work in progress by the end of the year

CHAPTER VII
Socio-Economic Study

A. Employment

The establishment of Flavored Pie has different effects on the

employment system. Since Flavored Pie is a food business, the owners can

provide employment to the people who love to bake and cook food. When the

time comes that Flavored Pie will grow bigger as expected, the proponents

will hire employees to work full-time. Flavored Pie is also open for franchising

or reselling the product to earn more customers. This can really help a lot of

people who are lack of income.

The proponents will train the employees to the job well and to ensure

that the quality of their work is not compromised. It can also provide them new

skills and experiences.

Flavored Pie will need 3-5 people to cook the viand flavors of pie and

to bake the pie. These people will be assigned to their designated area to do

the job and tasks suited for them. They will be compensated for every product

they produce.

B. Government
Item Amount in Php

Gross Income 737,060

Less: Deduction 0.00

Net Taxable Income 737,060

Flavored Pie Tax 235,859.2

C. Other Socio-Economic Concerns

The proponents have other methods in case the Flavored Pie ran out

of flavors and pies. Since viand can take too long before it cooked well, the

proponents decided to buy alternative viand in other stores such as canteens

within the area so the sellers can supplies as soon as possible. If falling-out

happens, the proponents have already found alternative products to use.

The Flavored Pie will add more viand flavors in the coming days,

weeks, or months depends on the demands of consumers. The business will

also provide promos such as buy one take one when the store got bigger. The

Flavored Pie can also offer discounts for students and senior citizens.
