THE SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH FOR KINDERGARTEN

I. Objectives:
At the end of 30 minutes lesson, the pupils will be able to:
a. recognize words with short vowel Aa and long vowel Aa sounds;
b. provide various engaging activities to reinforce learning and understanding of short and
long Aa vowel sounds; and
c. practice articulating short vowel and long vowel Aa sounds.

II. Subject Matter:


Topic: Comparing Short Vowel Aa and Long Vowel Aa Sound.

III. Procedure
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer
Let us all stand and put ourselves in the holy presence of God as we say, In the Name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen
(The teacher then presents a video song entitled, “At the Cross” by Hillsong)

2. Checking of Attendance
Good morning class. How are you feeling today? But before we start I will be going to check the
attendance first. If I call your name tell me your favorite color.
(The teacher then checks the attendance)
3. Checking of Assignment
I have given you an assignment last time, right? Kindly pass your assignment by row.
(The teacher then collects the assignment of the learners)
4. Review
“What was our last topic class? (The teacher will provide some follow-up question prior
to the previous lesson.) So, are there any questions about that? Have you all understood our
previous lesson?

5. Motivation
So now class, are you ready for our new lesson for today?
But before we start to our proper discussion, we will going to play a game. Do you want to play a
game class? So the game is called “Aa Sound Hunt” So I’m going to scatter some picture cards around
the room and then the students will find and identify words that have a Aa Vowel Sound. The teacher
will encourage students to say aloud the word that has a Aa Vowel Sound.

B. Actual Activities
1. Presentation of the topic
Vowels are very important letters because they are in every single word. They do a lot of the work in
deciding how a word will be pronounced or said. There are 5 vowels in English A E I O U. Each vowel has
a short and long vowel sounds. But were going to tackle more about the first Vowel the Aa Vowel.
The vowel Aa has a Short and long Vowel Sound.
(The Teacher introduce kindergarten students to the concept of short and long vowel sounds, specifically
focusing on the Aa vowel. )

2. Unlocking Difficulties
The teacher will engage the students through a video presentation to practice pronunciation.
- Teach students a song emphasizing short and long vowel Aa sounds.
- Sing the song together, emphasizing correct pronunciation.
-Encourage pupils to enjoy singing and articulating the vowel A sounds.
3. Guide Questions
(The teacher asks questions to the student so that there will be guidance to their difficulties and
progress)
What is the difference between short and long vowel Aa sound?
Can you give me some words of the song that highlights the short vowel and long vowel A sound?
How do you feel when you pronounce the short and long vowel Aa sounds?
4. Reading Materials
Pictures slide that shows the Short Aa and Long Aa Vowel Sounds.
In this activity, the teacher let the students identify the given pictures. Then, the students will imitate
and read aloud some example of short and long vowel Aa sound.

tell?
4. What about the word "rain"? Is the "A" sound short or long in this word? What clue helps you
determine the vowel sound?
5. Can you find any words around the classroom or in your storybooks that have the short "A" or long "A"
sound?
6. Lesson Proper
The Teacher will discuss some key information about comparing Short and Long Vowel Aa sounds.
The teacher will have an activity and its called “Articulation Practice”. The Teacher will show some flashcards
that has a Short and Long Aa Vowel sounds. Let the students repeats the words clearly and accurately. Then the
teacher will provide feedback and guidance on their pronunciation . Speaking slowly and with emphasis will help
the students identify the proper placement of their lips and their tongue.
(Repeat this exercise and reinforce it so that the students will then know the proper sound of the short and long
vowel Aa sound)
7. Value Integration
