Unit 8: Promoting Public Health

M1: Analyse how public health policy is influenced by strategies and patterns of health and ill health.

Department of Health

Every nation has a department of health tasked with monitoring the health of its people and advising
policymakers on the highest calibre of medical care. Using up-to-date information from regional, national, or
international organisations, this is accomplished. The primary government agency in England responsible
for monitoring reports and collecting evidence of disease and illness is the Department of Health. It gives
guidance to the government on how to design and finance health care

We have accountability for: providing guidance and support to our ministers so they can create and
implement policies that advance the goals of the government. establishing direction: we think ahead and

overseeing a significant cross-government initiative aimed at enhancing population health and well-being
and lowering health disparities. These includes programmes that use health promotion and education to
persuade individuals to adopt actions, attitudes, and behaviours that improve their overall health and well-

British Heart Foundation

Our goal is to achieve the best possible outcomes for individuals with heart and circulatory disorders as
well as research by working closely with legislators to define and impact government policy.

Our goal is to create evidence-based policies that will support and inform decisions made by the
government and health services for heart and circulatory disease research and treatment. In our ideal
world, people would not be afraid about heart or circulation illnesses.

Pressure Groups: Age UK

With the motto "ageing is not an illness, but it can be challenging," its goal is to support individuals in
enjoying later life. The main charity serving the over sixty is called Age UK, and it offers local and national
services and assistance to senior citizens.

It strives to convince the government about health and care improvements that may be done for this age
group and routinely performs research into the health of those over sixty.

Because policy and research could improve the lives of older people, they play a significant role in Age
UK's work. By performing sociological and economic analyses, creating recommendations for public policy,
and influencing policy agendas across a broad spectrum of topics, we aim to sway decision-makers.

Due to policy and the fact that we assist millions of individuals in understanding their rights and choosing
wisely for the future. We offer guidance and information on many aspects of later life, from assisting
individuals in determining the benefits they are eligible for to talking about solutions that make living at
home in later years easier.

NICE is an organisational entity that implements health and social care quality enhancements. It keeps an
eye on the groups and processes pertaining to British health challenges. To protect service users, NICE
evaluates evidence-based guidelines and establishes criteria to guarantee that all health authorities,
nonprofit organizations, and private practitioners adhere to the most recent and best practices for every
given health issue. Among NICE's evidence-based recommendations are the following:

cancer care recommendations

Clinical recommendations

Medicine practice recommendations

public health recommendations

Safe staffing protocols

NICE Public Health Guidance makes recommendations for populations and individuals on activities,
policies and strategies that can help prevent disease or improve health.

Two fundamental tenets underpin NICE's approach to patient and public involvement: first, that non-
