RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research methodology explains and discusses how the data will
be collected and analyzed. So Research methodology carries
the methods you used in your research to collect and analyze the
Data to meet your objectives.
The methodology chapter is a key part of your report, research

paper, or thesis, dissertation, because the methodology chapter
explains what you did and how you did it, allowing readers to
evaluate the reliability and validity of your research and
your dissertation topic and it shown how your achieved your
objectives.

It should include:
1. The type of research you conducted
2. How you collected and analyzed your data
3. Any tools or materials you used in the research
4. How you mitigated or avoided research biases
5. Why you chose these methods
6. Explanation of your metholodical Approach
7. Description of your data collection methods
8. Description of your data collection methods
9. Evaluate and justify you methodological choices
Your methodology section should generally be written in the past
tense. Your citations tyle in the methodology must be Harvard

TYPES OF METHODOLOGIES
Some common types of research methodology include:
1. Quantitative research,
2. Qualitative Research,
3. Mixed-method research,
4. Experimental research, and
5. Case study research

1. QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH METHODOLOGIES Quantitative
research methodologies are meant to create numeric statistics
by using survey research to gather data (Dawson, 2019). This
approach tends to reach a larger amount of people in a shorter
amount of time. According to Labaree (2020), there are three
parts that make up a quantitative research methodology:
• Sample population
• How you will collect your data (this is the research
method)
• How you will analyze your data
• Once you decide on a methodology, you can consider the
method to which you will apply your methodology.

2. QUALITATIVE RESEARCH METHODOLOGIES
Qualitative research methodologies examine the
behaviors, opinions, and experiences of individuals
through methods of examination (Dawson, 2019). This
type of approach typically requires less participants, but
more time with each participant. It gives research
subjects the opportunity to provide their own opinion
on a certain topic.

3. MIXED METHOD METHODOLOGIES
A mixed methodology allows you to implement the strengths of
both qualitative and quantitative research methods. In some
cases, you may find that your research project would benefit from
this. This approach is beneficial because it allows each
methodology to counteract the weaknesses of the other
(Dawson, 2019). You should consider this option carefully, as it
can make your research complicated if not planned correctly.

Experimental research is a method of gathering information and data on a subject through
observation in controlled settings
1. Pre-experimental research
A pre-experimental research study is an observational approach to performing an
experiment. It's the most basic style of experimental research
2. Quasi-experimental research
Quasi-experimental research is similar to true experimental research, and experimenters
can apply it in similar ways. The primary distinction between the two is a lack of
randomization when assigning participants to groups in a quasi-experimental study.
3. True experimental research

Under true experimental conditions, participants receive randomized assignments to
different groups in the study. This removes any potential for bias in creating study groups to
provide more reliable results.

• A case study can be defined as an intensive study
about a unit, a area, a group of people , which is
aimed to generalize over several units'.
• or A case study has also been described as an

intensive, systematic investigation of a single
individual, group, community or some other unit in
which the researcher examines.
