II. Session Outline
Session Title: Upholding Human Rights: Advocating for Social Justice
Session Objectives: At the end of the session, the learner will be able to:
- Analyze the concepts of social justice and human rights,
understanding their importance in creating equitable societies.
- Engage in role playing activities to demonstrate advocacy skills in
promoting social justice.
- Develop empathy and a sense of responsibilities towards addressing
social inequalities and advocating for human rights.
Key Concepts: Social Justice. Ensuring fair and equitable treatment of all individuals in
society, regardless of race, gender, socioeconomic status, or other
characteristics.

Human Rights. Fundamental rights and freedoms inherent to all human


beings, including life, liberty, equality, and dignity.

Advocacy. Actively supporting or promoting a cause or issue to effect change


in policies, practices, or attitudes that impact social justice and human
rights.
III. Teaching Strategies

Activity: Rights Charades

Introduction and - Write various human rights on index cards. In pairs,

Warm-Up students take turns acting out the rights while their
partner guesses. Discuss the importance of each right
afterward.
Activity: Campaign Creation
Concept
15 mins In pairs, students create a campaign foster or slogan

advocating for a human rights cause. They present their
campaign to the class, explaining it’s significance and goals.
Activity: Personal Commitment

- Students individually write down one action they will

rights in their daily lives. They share their commitments
with the class for accountability.
Activity: Rights Reflection

Journal Writing 15 mins Provides students with reflective prompt such as “What human
rights matter most to you and why?” Students journal their
thoughts for 5 minutes, then share with their partner.
