Hadith - 1

It is narrated on the authority of Amirul Mu'minin, Abu ‫ب رَﺿِ َﻲ‬ ِ ‫ﺺ ُﻋ َﻤ َﺮ ﺑْﻦِ ا ْﻟ َﺨﻄﱠﺎ‬ ٍ ‫▪ﻋَﻦْ أَﻣِﯿ ِﺮ ا ْﻟﻤُﺆْ ِﻣﻨِﯿﻦَ أَﺑِﻲ َﺣ ْﻔ‬
Hafs 'Umar bin al-Khattab, radiyallahu 'anhu, who said: I " :ُ‫ﷲِ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ وﺳﻠﻢ ﯾَﻘُﻮل‬ ‫ﺳ ِﻤﻌْﺖُ َرﺳُﻮ َل ﱠ‬ َ :َ‫ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫُ ﻗَﺎل‬
heard the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam, say:
ْ‫ ﻓَﻤَﻦْ ﻛَﺎﻧَﺖ‬،‫ َوإِﻧﱠﻤَﺎ ﻟِ ُﻜ ﱢﻞ ا ْﻣﺮِئٍ ﻣَﺎ ﻧَﻮَى‬،ِ‫إﻧﱠﻤَﺎ ْاﻷَ ْﻋﻤَﺎ ُل ﺑِﺎﻟﻨﱢﯿﱠﺎت‬
"Actions are (judged) by motives (niyyah), so each man ْ‫ َوﻣَﻦ‬،ِ‫ﷲِ َو َرﺳُﻮﻟِﮫ‬ ‫ﷲِ َو َرﺳُﻮﻟِ ِﮫ ﻓَﮭِﺠْ َﺮﺗُﮫُ إﻟَﻰ ﱠ‬ ‫ھِﺠْ َﺮﺗُﮫُ إﻟَﻰ ﱠ‬
will have what he intended. Thus, he whose migration
‫ﻛَﺎﻧَﺖْ ھِﺠْ َﺮﺗُﮫُ ﻟِ ُﺪ ْﻧﯿَﺎ ﯾُﺼِ ﯿﺒُﮭَﺎ أَوْ ا ْﻣ َﺮأَ ٍة ﯾَ ْﻨﻜِﺤُ ﮭَﺎ ﻓَﮭِﺠْ َﺮﺗُﮫُ إﻟَﻰ ﻣَﺎ‬
(hijrah) was to Allah and His Messenger, his migration
is to Allah and His Messenger; but he whose migration ."ِ‫ھَﺎ َﺟ َﺮ إﻟَ ْﯿﮫ‬
was for some worldly thing he might gain, or for a wife ‫َروَاهُ إِﻣَﺎﻣَﺎ ا ْﻟ ُﻤ َﺤ ﱢﺪﺛِﯿﻦَ أَﺑُﻮ َﻋ ْﺒ ِﺪ‬
‫ِﻢ ا ْﻟﻘُ َﺸ ْﯿﺮِيﱡ‬he
‫ﻣ ْﺴﻠ‬might marry, his migration is to that for which he
ُ ‫ﱠﺎج ﺑﻦ‬
‫ َوأَﺑُﻮ ا ْﻟ ُﺤ َﺴﯿْﻦِ ُﻣ ْﺴﻠِ ٌﻢ ﺑﻦُ ا ْﻟ َﺤﺠ‬،[1:‫ا ِ ُﻣ َﺤ ﱠﻤ ُﺪ ﺑﻦُ إِ ْﺳﻤَﺎﻋِﯿﻞ ﺑﻦ إِ ْﺑﺮَاھِﯿﻢ ﺑﻦ ا ْﻟ ُﻤﻐِﯿﺮَة ﺑﻦ ﺑَﺮْ دِزﺑَﮫ ا ْﻟﺒُﺨَﺎرِيﱡ ا ْﻟ ُﺠ ْﻌﻔِﻲﱡ ]رﻗﻢ‬
migrated."

[Al-Bukhari & Muslim] .ِ‫ﺼﻨﱠﻔَﺔ‬َ ‫ﺐ ا ْﻟ ُﻤ‬ِ ُ‫ا ُ َﻋ ْﻨﮭُﻤَﺎ ﻓِﻲ "ﺻَﺤِ ﯿ َﺤ ْﯿ ِﮭﻤَﺎ" اﻟﻠﺬَﯾﻦِ ھُﻤَﺎ أَﺻَﺢﱡ ا ْﻟ ُﻜﺘ‬

 Hadith - 2
Also on the authority of `Umar (ra) who said:
‫ " ﺑَ ْﯿﻨَﻤَﺎ ﻧَﺤْ ﻦُ ُﺟﻠُﻮسٌ ِﻋ ْﻨ َﺪ‬:َ‫▪ﻋَﻦْ ُﻋ َﻤ َﺮ رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫُ أَ ْﯾﻀًﺎ ﻗَﺎل‬
While we were one day sitting with the Messenger of Allah
‫ إ ْذ طَﻠَ َﻊ َﻋﻠَ ْﯿﻨَﺎ‬، ٍ‫ﷲِ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ ذَاتَ ﯾَﻮْ م‬ ‫َرﺳُﻮلِ ﱠ‬
‫ﷺ‬there appeared before us a man dressed in extremely
white clothes and with very black hair. No traces of ‫ َﻻ ﯾُﺮَى َﻋﻠَ ْﯿ ِﮫ‬،ِ‫ َﺷﺪِﯾ ُﺪ َﺳﻮَا ِد اﻟ ﱠﺸ ْﻌﺮ‬،ِ‫ض اﻟﺜﱢﯿَﺎب‬ ِ ‫َر ُﺟ ٌﻞ َﺷﺪِﯾ ُﺪ ﺑَﯿَﺎ‬
journeying were visible on him, and none of us knew him. ‫ َﺣﺘﱠﻰ َﺟﻠَﺲَ إﻟَﻰ اﻟﻨﱠﺒِ ﱢﻲ ﺻﻠﻰ‬.ٌ‫ و ََﻻ ﯾَ ْﻌ ِﺮﻓُﮫُ ِﻣﻨﱠﺎ أَ َﺣﺪ‬،ِ‫أَﺛَ ُﺮ اﻟ ﱠﺴﻔَﺮ‬
He sat down close by the Prophet ‫ﷺ‬rested his knees ‫ﺿ َﻊ َﻛﻔﱠ ْﯿ ِﮫ‬َ ‫ َو َو‬،ِ‫ ﻓَﺄ َ ْﺳﻨَ َﺪ رُ ْﻛﺒَﺘَ ْﯿ ِﮫ إﻟَﻰ ُر ْﻛﺒَﺘَ ْﯿﮫ‬. ‫ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ‬
against the knees of the Prophet ‫ﷺ‬and placed his palms
over his thighs, and said: "O Muhammad! Inform me about ‫ ﻓَﻘَﺎ َل‬. ِ‫اﻹﺳ َْﻼم‬
ِ ْ ْ‫ ﯾَﺎ ُﻣ َﺤ ﱠﻤ ُﺪ أَﺧْ ﺒِﺮْ ﻧِﻲ ﻋَﻦ‬:َ‫ َوﻗَﺎل‬،ِ‫َﻋﻠَﻰ ﻓَﺨِ َﺬ ْﯾﮫ‬
Islam." The Messenger of Allah ‫)ﷺ‬replied: "Islam is that ‫َرﺳُﻮ ُل‬
‫ َوﺗَ ُﺤ ﱠﺞ‬، َ‫ َﻣﻀَﺎن‬you
‫ُﻮ َم َر‬should
‫ َوﺗَﺼ‬،َtestify
‫اﻟ ﱠﺰﻛَﺎة‬that
‫ُﺆْ ﺗِ َﻲ‬there
‫ َوﺗ‬،َ‫ة‬is‫ َﱠﻼ‬no
‫اﻟﺼ‬deity
‫ﺗُﻘِﯿ َﻢ‬worthy
‫ُل ﱠ‬of‫ﺳُﻮ‬worship
‫ َو‬،ِ‫ﷲ‬ ‫ﷲُ َوأَنﱠ ُﻣ َﺤ ﱠﻤﺪًا َر‬ ‫اﻹﺳ َْﻼ ُم أَنْ ﺗَ ْﺸﮭَ َﺪ أَنْ َﻻ إﻟَﮫَ ﱠإﻻ ﱠ‬ ِ ْ ‫ا ﱠ ِ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ‬
except Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger (‫)ﷺ‬,
that you should perform salah (ritual prayer), pay the zakah,
.‫ِﯿﻼ‬ ً ‫ا ْﻟﺒَﯿْﺖَ إنْ ا ْﺳﺘَﻄَﻌْﺖ إﻟَ ْﯿ ِﮫ َﺳﺒ‬
fast during Ramadan, and perform Hajj (pilgrimage) to the
House (the Ka`bah at Makkah), if you can find a way to it
(or find the means for making the journey to it)."

 Hadith - 2
He said: "You have spoken the truth." We were astonished at
his thus questioning him (‫ﷺ‬and then telling him that he
:َ‫ﺼ ﱢﺪﻗُﮫُ! ﻗَﺎل‬ َ ُ‫ ﻓَﻌَﺠِ ْﺒﻨَﺎ ﻟَﮫُ ﯾَ ْﺴﺄَﻟُﮫُ َوﯾ‬. ‫ﺻ َﺪﻗْﺖ‬ َ :َ‫▪ﻗَﺎل‬
was right, but he went on to say, "Inform me about Iman َ‫ أَنْ ﺗُﺆْ ﻣِﻦ‬:َ‫ ﻗَﺎل‬. ِ‫اﻹﯾﻤَﺎن‬ ِ ْ ْ‫ﻓَﺄ َﺧْ ﺒِﺮْ ﻧِﻲ ﻋَﻦ‬
(faith)." He (the Prophet) answered, "It is that you believe in
Allah and His angels and His Books and His Messengers َ ‫ﺑِﺎ‬
. ِ‫اﻹﺣْ ﺴَﺎن‬
ِ ْ ْ‫ ﻓَﺄ َﺧْ ﺒِﺮْ ﻧِﻲ ﻋَﻦ‬:َ‫ ﻗَﺎل‬.‫ﺻ َﺪﻗْﺖ‬
َ :َ‫ ﻗَﺎل‬.ِ‫ َوﺗُﺆْ ﻣِﻦَ ﺑِﺎ ْﻟﻘَ َﺪ ِر َﺧ ْﯿ ِﺮ ِه َو َﺷ ﱢﺮه‬،ِ‫ﻟﻠﱠ ِﮫ َوﻣ ََﻼﺋِ َﻜﺘِ ِﮫ َو ُﻛﺘُﺒِ ِﮫ َو ُر ُﺳﻠِ ِﮫ وَا ْﻟﯿَﻮْ مِ ْاﻵﺧِ ﺮ‬
and in the Last Day, and in fate (qadar), both in its good and
in its evil aspects." He said, "You have spoken the truth."
Then he (the man) said, "Inform me about Ihsan." He (the ‫ ﻣَﺎ ا ْﻟ َﻤ ْﺴﺌُﻮ ُل‬:َ‫ ﻗَﺎل‬.ِ‫ ﻓَﺄ َﺧْ ﺒِﺮْ ﻧِﻲ ﻋَﻦْ اﻟﺴﱠﺎ َﻋﺔ‬:َ‫ﻗَﺎل‬
Prophet) answered, "It is that you should serve Allah as
though you could see Him, for though you cannot see Him
. ِ‫َﻋ ْﻨﮭَﺎ ﺑِﺄ َ ْﻋﻠَ َﻢ ﻣِﻦْ اﻟﺴﱠﺎﺋِﻞ‬
yet He sees you." He said, "Inform me about the Hour."
He (the Prophet) said, "About that the one questioned
knows no more than the questioner."

Hadith - 2
So he said, "Well, inform me about its signs." He said, "They
are that the slave-girl will give birth to her mistress and that
ُ‫ أَنْ ﺗَﻠِ َﺪ ْاﻷَ َﻣﺔ‬:َ‫ ﻓَﺄ َﺧْ ﺒِﺮْ ﻧِﻲ ﻋَﻦْ أَﻣَﺎرَاﺗِﮭَﺎ؟ ﻗَﺎل‬:َ‫▪ﻗَﺎل‬
you will see the barefooted ones, the naked, the destitute, ‫ َوأَنْ ﺗَﺮَى ا ْﻟ ُﺤﻔَﺎةَ ا ْﻟ ُﻌﺮَاةَ ا ْﻟﻌَﺎﻟَﺔَ ِرﻋَﺎ َء اﻟﺸﱠﺎ ِء‬،‫َرﺑﱠﺘَﮭَﺎ‬
the herdsmen of the sheep (competing with each other) in
raising lofty buildings." Thereupon the man went off. I ‫ ﺛُ ﱠﻢ‬،‫ ﻓَﻠَﺒِﺜْﺖُ َﻣﻠِﯿًّﺎ‬،َ‫ ﺛُ ﱠﻢ ا ْﻧﻄَﻠَﻖ‬. ِ‫ﯾَﺘَﻄَﺎ َوﻟُﻮنَ ﻓِﻲ ا ْﻟﺒُ ْﻨﯿَﺎن‬
waited a while, and then he (the Prophet) said, "O `Umar, : ُ‫ ﻗُﻠْﺖ‬.‫ ﯾَﺎ ُﻋ َﻤ ُﺮ أَﺗَ ْﺪرِي ﻣَﻦْ اﻟﺴﱠﺎﺋِﻞُ؟‬:َ‫ﻗَﺎل‬
do you know who that questioner was?" I replied, "Allah and
His Messenger know better." He said, "That was Jibril. He ‫ ﻓَﺈِﻧﱠﮫُ ﺟِ ْﺒﺮِﯾ ُﻞ أَﺗَﺎ ُﻛ ْﻢ ﯾُ َﻌﻠﱢ ُﻤ ُﻜ ْﻢ‬:َ‫ ﻗَﺎل‬.ُ‫ﷲُ َو َرﺳُﻮﻟُﮫُ أَ ْﻋﻠَﻢ‬ ‫ﱠ‬
came to teach you your religion."
." ‫دِﯾﻨَ ُﻜ ْﻢ‬
[Muslim]
. [ٌ‫▪] َروَاهُ ُﻣ ْﺴﻠِﻢ‬

Hadith - 3
On the authority of Abdullah, the son of Umar ibn
al-Khattab (ra), who said: ‫▪ﻋَﻦْ أَﺑِﻲ َﻋ ْﺒ ِﺪ اﻟﺮﱠﺣْ ﻤَﻦِ َﻋ ْﺒ ِﺪ‬
:َ‫ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮭُﻤَﺎ ﻗَﺎل‬
‫ب رَﺿِ َﻲ ﱠ‬ ِ ‫ﷲِ ﺑْﻦِ ُﻋ َﻤ َﺮ ﺑْﻦِ ا ْﻟ َﺨﻄﱠﺎ‬
‫ﱠ‬
I heard the Messenger of Allah (‫ ﷺ‬say, "Islam has been
built on five [pillars]: testifying that there is no deity worthy
of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is the
" :ُ‫ﷲِ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ ﯾَﻘُﻮل‬ ‫▪ َﺳ ِﻤﻌْﺖ َرﺳُﻮ َل ﱠ‬
Messenger of Allah, establishing the salah (prayer), paying ‫ َﺷﮭَﺎ َد ِة أَنْ َﻻ إﻟَﮫَ ﱠإﻻ‬:ٍ‫اﻹﺳ َْﻼ ُم َﻋﻠَﻰ َﺧ ْﻤﺲ‬ ِ ْ ‫ﺑُﻨِ َﻲ‬
the zakat (obligatory charity), making the hajj (pilgrimage) to
the House, and fasting in Ramadhan." ‫ َوإِﯾﺘَﺎ ِء‬،ِ‫ َوإِﻗَﺎمِ اﻟﺼ َﱠﻼة‬،ِ‫ﷲ‬ ‫ﷲُ َوأَنﱠ ُﻣ َﺤ ﱠﻤﺪًا َرﺳُﻮ ُل ﱠ‬ ‫ﱠ‬
ُ‫ ] َروَاه‬." َ‫ َوﺻَﻮْ مِ َر َﻣﻀَﺎن‬،ِ‫ َو َﺣ ﱢﺞ ا ْﻟﺒَ ْﯿﺖ‬،ِ‫اﻟ ﱠﺰﻛَﺎة‬
.[ٌ‫ ] َو ُﻣ ْﺴﻠِﻢ‬، [ ‫ا ْﻟﺒُﺨَﺎرِيﱡ‬

 Hadith - 4
On the authority of Abdullah ibn Masood (ra), who said:
:َ‫ﷲِ ﺑْﻦِ َﻣ ْﺴﻌُﻮ ٍد رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫُ ﻗَﺎل‬
‫ﻋَﻦْ أَﺑِﻲ َﻋ ْﺒ ِﺪ اﻟﺮﱠﺣْ ﻤَﻦِ َﻋ ْﺒ ِﺪ ﱠ‬
The Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬and he is the truthful, the believed, narrated
to us, “Verily the creation of each one of you is brought together in his :-ُ‫ق ا ْﻟﻤَﺼْ ﺪُوق‬ ُ ‫ َوھُ َﻮ اﻟﺼﱠﺎ ِد‬- ‫ﷲِ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ‬ ‫َﺣ ﱠﺪﺛَﻨَﺎ َرﺳُﻮ ُل ﱠ‬
mother’s womb for forty days in the form of a nutfah (a drop), then he
becomes an alaqah (clot of blood) for a like period, then a mudghah ُ‫ ﺛُ ﱠﻢ ﯾَﻜُﻮن‬،ً‫"إنﱠ أَ َﺣ َﺪ ُﻛ ْﻢ ﯾُﺠْ َﻤ ُﻊ ﺧَ ْﻠﻘُﮫُ ﻓِﻲ ﺑَﻄْﻦِ أُ ﱢﻣ ِﮫ أَرْ ﺑَﻌِﯿﻦَ ﯾَﻮْ ﻣًﺎ ﻧُ ْﻄﻔَﺔ‬
(morsel of flesh) for a like period, then there is sent to him the angel who ‫ﺳ ُﻞ إﻟَ ْﯿ ِﮫ ا ْﻟ َﻤﻠَ ُﻚ‬َ ْ‫ ﺛُ ﱠﻢ ﯾُﺮ‬،َ‫ ﺛُ ﱠﻢ ﯾَﻜُﻮنُ ﻣُﻀْ َﻐﺔً ِﻣ ْﺜ َﻞ َذﻟِﻚ‬،َ‫َﻋﻠَﻘَﺔً ِﻣ ْﺜ َﻞ َذﻟِﻚ‬
blows his soul into him and who is commanded with four matters: to
write down his rizq (sustenance), his life span, his actions, and whether he ،ِ‫ َوأَ َﺟﻠِﮫ‬،ِ‫ﺐ رِزْ ﻗِﮫ‬ ِ ‫ ﺑِ َﻜ ْﺘ‬:ٍ‫ َوﯾُﺆْ َﻣ ُﺮ ﺑِﺄ َرْ ﺑَ ِﻊ َﻛﻠِﻤَﺎت‬، َ‫ﻓَﯿَ ْﻨﻔُﺦُ ﻓِﯿ ِﮫ اﻟﺮﱡ وح‬
will be happy or unhappy (i.e., whether or not he will enter Paradise). By ‫َﷲِ اﻟﱠﺬِي َﻻ إﻟَﮫَ َﻏ ْﯿ ُﺮهُ إنﱠ أَ َﺣ َﺪ ُﻛ ْﻢ ﻟَﯿَ ْﻌ َﻤ ُﻞ‬ ‫ﺳﻌِﯿﺪٍ؛ ﻓَﻮ َ ﱠ‬ َ ‫ﺷﻘِﻲﱟ أَ ْم‬ َ ‫ َو‬،ِ‫َو َﻋ َﻤﻠِﮫ‬
the One, other than Whom there is no deity, verily one of you performs
the actions of the people of Paradise until there is but an arms length
‫ﻖ َﻋﻠَ ْﯿ ِﮫ‬ ُ ِ‫ﺴﺒ‬ ْ َ‫ع ﻓَﯿ‬ ٌ ‫ﺑِ َﻌﻤَﻞِ أَھْﻞِ ا ْﻟ َﺠﻨﱠ ِﺔ َﺣﺘﱠﻰ ﻣَﺎ ﯾَﻜُﻮنُ ﺑَ ْﯿﻨَﮫُ َوﺑَ ْﯿﻨَﮭَﺎ ﱠإﻻ ِذرَا‬
between him and it, and that which has been written overtakes him, and so ِ‫ َوإِنﱠ أَ َﺣ َﺪ ُﻛ ْﻢ ﻟَﯿَ ْﻌ َﻤ ُﻞ ﺑِ َﻌﻤَﻞ‬.‫ا ْﻟ ِﻜﺘَﺎبُ ﻓَﯿَ ْﻌ َﻤ ُﻞ ﺑِ َﻌﻤَﻞِ أَھْﻞِ اﻟﻨﱠﺎ ِر ﻓَﯿَﺪْﺧُ ﻠُﮭَﺎ‬
he acts with the actions of the people of the Hellfire and thus enters it; and ُ‫ﻖ َﻋﻠَ ْﯿ ِﮫ ا ْﻟ ِﻜﺘَﺎب‬ ُ ِ‫ع ﻓَﯿَ ْﺴﺒ‬
ٌ ‫أَھْﻞِ اﻟﻨﱠﺎ ِر َﺣﺘﱠﻰ ﻣَﺎ ﯾَﻜُﻮنُ ﺑَ ْﯿﻨَﮫُ َوﺑَ ْﯿﻨَﮭَﺎ ﱠإﻻ ِذرَا‬
verily one of you performs the actions of the people of the Hellfire, until
there is but an arms length between him and it, and that which has been ."‫ﻓَﯿَ ْﻌ َﻤ ُﻞ ﺑِ َﻌﻤَﻞِ أَھْﻞِ ا ْﻟ َﺠﻨﱠ ِﺔ ﻓَﯿَ ْﺪ ُﺧﻠُﮭَﺎ‬
written overtakes him and so he acts with the actions of the people of
Paradise and thus he enters it.

 Hadith -5
On the authority of the mother of the faithful, Aisha (ra),
who said: ،‫ﷲُ ﻋَ ْﻧﮭَﺎ‬‫ﷲ ﻋَ ﺎ ِﺋ َﺷ َﺔ رَ ﺿِ ﻲَ ﱠ‬ ِ ‫ﻋَ نْ أ ُ ﱢم ا ْﻟﻣ ُْؤ ِﻣﻧِﯾنَ أ ُ ﱢم ﻋَ ْﺑ ِد ﱠ‬
The Messenger of Allah (‫ )ﷺ‬said, “He who innovates ْ‫ﷲ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯾﮫ و ﺳﻠم "ﻣَن‬ ِ ‫ رَ ﺳُو ُل ﱠ‬:َ‫ ﻗَﺎل‬: ْ‫ﻗَﺎﻟَت‬
something in this matter of ours (i.e., Islam) that is not ُ‫أَﺣْ دَ ثَ ﻓِﻲ أَﻣْرِ ﻧَﺎ ھَذَ ا ﻣَﺎ َﻟﯾْسَ ِﻣ ْﻧ ُﮫ َﻓﮭ َُو رَ ﱞد ]رَ َواه‬
of it will have it rejected (by Allah).” [Bukhari & Muslim]
In another version in Muslim it reads: “He who does an
َ ‫ ﻣَنْ ﻋَ ِﻣل‬:ٍ‫]وﻣُﺳْ ﻠِمٌ[ َوﻓِﻲ رِ َوا َﯾﺔٍ ﻟِﻣُﺳْ ﻠِم‬، َ [ ‫ا ْﻟﺑُﺧَ ﺎرِ يﱡ‬
act which we have not commanded, will have it rejected ."‫ﻋَ ﻣ ًَﻼ َﻟﯾْسَ ﻋَ َﻠ ْﯾ ِﮫ أَﻣْ ُرﻧَﺎ َﻓﮭ َُو رَ دﱞ‬
(by Allah).”

 Hadith -6
On the authority of an-Nu’man ibn Basheer (ra), who said:
:َ‫ ﻗَﺎل‬،‫ﷲُ ﻋَ ْﻧ ُﮭﻣَﺎ‬ ‫ﷲ اﻟﻧﱡﻌْ ﻣَﺎ ِن ْﺑ ِن ﺑَﺷِ ﯾرٍ رَ ﺿِ ﻲَ ﱠ‬ ِ ‫ﻋَ نْ أَﺑِﻲ ﻋَ ْﺑ ِد ﱠ‬
I heard the Messenger of Allah (‫ )ﷺ‬say, “That which is lawful
is clear and that which is unlawful is clear, and between the two َ ‫ "إنﱠ اﻟْﺣَ َﻼل‬:ُ‫ﷲ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯾﮫ و ﺳﻠم َﯾﻘُول‬ ِ ‫ﺳَ ﻣِﻌْ ت رَ ﺳُو َل ﱠ‬
of them are doubtful matters about which many people do not ‫ﺷ َﺗ ِﺑﮭَﺎتٌ َﻻ ﯾَﻌْ َﻠ ُﻣﮭُنﱠ‬
ْ ‫ َو َﺑ ْﯾ َﻧ ُﮭﻣَﺎ أُﻣُو ٌر ُﻣ‬، ٌ‫ َوإِنﱠ اﻟْﺣَ رَ ا َم َﺑﯾﱢن‬، ٌ‫َﺑﯾﱢن‬
know. Thus he who avoids doubtful matters clears himself in
‫ت َﻓﻘْد اﺳْ َﺗﺑْرَ أَ ﻟِدِﯾ ِﻧ ِﮫ‬ ِ ‫ َﻓﻣَنْ ا ﱠﺗﻘَﻰ اﻟ ﱡﺷ ُﺑﮭَﺎ‬، ِ‫َﻛﺛِﯾ ٌر ﻣِنْ اﻟﻧﱠﺎس‬
regard to his religion and his honor, but he who falls into
doubtful matters [eventually] falls into that which is unlawful, ، ِ‫ت َوﻗَﻊَ ﻓِﻲ اﻟْﺣَ رَ ام‬ ِ ‫ َوﻣَنْ َوﻗَﻊَ ﻓِﻲ اﻟ ﱡﺷ ُﺑﮭَﺎ‬،ِ‫َوﻋِ رْ ﺿِ ﮫ‬
like the shepherd who pastures around a sanctuary, all but ‫ أ ََﻻ َوإِنﱠ‬،ِ‫ك أَنْ ﯾَرْ ﺗَﻊَ ﻓِﯾﮫ‬ ُ ِ‫ﻛَﺎﻟرﱠ اﻋِ ﻲ ﯾَرْ ﻋَ ﻰ ﺣَ ْو َل ا ْﻟ ِﺣﻣَﻰ ﯾُوﺷ‬
grazing therein. Truly every king has a sanctuary, and truly ‫ أ ََﻻ َوإِنﱠ ﻓِﻲ‬،ُ‫ﷲ ﻣَﺣَ ﺎرِ ُﻣﮫ‬ ِ ‫ أ ََﻻ َوإِنﱠ ِﺣﻣَﻰ ﱠ‬،‫ﻟِ ُﻛ ﱢل َﻣﻠِكٍ ِﺣﻣًﻰ‬
Allah’s sanctuary is His prohibitions. Truly in the body there is a
morsel of flesh, which, if it be whole, all the body is whole, and ْ‫ َوإذَ ا ﻓَﺳَ دَ ت‬،ُ‫اﻟْﺟَ ﺳَ ِد ﻣُﺿْ ﻐَ ًﺔ إذَ ا ﺻَ ﻠَﺣَ تْ ﺻَ ﻠَﺢَ اﻟْﺟَ ﺳَ ُد ُﻛﻠﱡﮫ‬
which, if it is diseased, all of [the body] is diseased. Truly, it is ." ُ‫ أ ََﻻ َوھِﻲَ ا ْﻟ َﻘﻠْب‬،ُ‫ﻓَﺳَ دَ اﻟْﺟَ ﺳَ ُد ُﻛﻠﱡﮫ‬
the heart.” [Bukhari & Muslim]

 Hadith -7
On the authority of Tameem ibn Aus
‫ﻋَ نْ أَﺑِﻲ ُر َﻗ ﱠﯾ َﺔ َﺗﻣِﯾمِ ْﺑ ِن أ َْوسٍ اﻟدﱠارِ يﱢ رَ ﺿِ ﻲَ ﷲُ ﻋَ ْﻧ ُﮫ أَنﱠ‬
ad-Daree (ra):
:‫" ﻗُ ْﻠﻧَﺎ‬.ُ‫ "اﻟ ﱢدﯾنُ اﻟﻧﱠﺻِ ﯾﺣَ ﺔ‬:َ‫اﻟ ﱠﻧﺑِﻲﱠ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯾﮫ وﺳﻠم ﻗَﺎل‬
The Prophet‫ ) )ﷺ‬said, “The deen (religion) َ‫ َو ِﻷَ ِﺋ ﱠﻣ ِﺔ ا ْﻟﻣُﺳْ ﻠِﻣِﯾن‬،ِ‫ َوﻟِرَ ﺳُوﻟِﮫ‬،ِ‫ َوﻟِ ِﻛﺗَﺎ ِﺑﮫ‬،ِ ‫ " ِ ﱠ‬:َ‫ﻟِﻣَنْ ؟ ﻗَﺎل‬
is naseehah (advice, sincerity).” We said, “To
[ٌ‫" ]رَ َواهُ ﻣُﺳْ ﻠِم‬.ْ‫َوﻋَ ﺎ ﱠﻣ ِﺗ ِﮭم‬
whom?” He ‫ ) )ﷺ‬said, “To Allah, His Book,
His Messenger, and to the leaders of the
Muslims and their common folk.” [Muslim]

 Hadith -8
On the authority of Abdullah ibn Umar (ra):
‫ﷲ‬
ِ ‫ أَنﱠ رَ ﺳُو َل ﱠ‬،‫ﷲُ ﻋَ ْﻧ ُﮭﻣَﺎ‬ ‫ﻋَ نْ ا ْﺑ ِن ُﻋﻣَرَ رَ ﺿِ ﻲَ ﱠ‬
The Messenger of Allah (‫ )ﷺ‬said, "I have
been ordered to fight against the people until
‫ "أُﻣِرْ تُ أَنْ أُﻗَﺎ ِﺗ َل‬:َ‫ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯾﮫ و ﺳﻠم ﻗَﺎل‬
they testify that there is none worthy of worship ‫ﷲُ َوأَنﱠ ﻣُﺣَ ﱠﻣدًا‬ ‫اﻟﻧﱠﺎسَ ﺣَ ﺗﱠﻰ َﯾ ْﺷ َﮭدُوا أَنْ َﻻ إ َﻟ َﮫ ﱠإﻻ ﱠ‬
except Allah and that Muhammad is the
‫ َوﯾ ُْؤﺗُوا اﻟزﱠ ﻛَﺎةَ؛‬،َ‫ َو ُﯾﻘِﯾﻣُوا اﻟﺻ َﱠﻼة‬،ِ‫ﷲ‬ ‫رَ ﺳُو ُل ﱠ‬
Messenger of Allah, and until they establish
the salah and pay the zakat. And if they do ‫َﻓﺈِذَ ا ﻓَﻌَ ﻠُوا ذَ ﻟِكَ ﻋَ ﺻَ ﻣُوا ِﻣﻧﱢﻲ ِدﻣَﺎ َء ُھ ْم َوأَﻣ َْوا َﻟ ُﮭ ْم‬
that then they will have gained protection . "‫ﷲ ﺗَﻌَ ﺎﻟَﻰ‬ ِ ‫ َوﺣِﺳَ ﺎ ُﺑ ُﮭ ْم ﻋَ ﻠَﻰ ﱠ‬، ِ‫ﱠإﻻ ﺑِﺣَ قﱢ ْاﻹِﺳْ َﻼم‬
from me for their lives and property, unless
[they commit acts that are punishable] in Islam, [ٌ‫]وﻣُﺳْ ﻠِم‬،
َ [ ‫]رَ َواهُ ا ْﻟﺑُﺧَ ﺎرِ يﱡ‬
and their reckoning will be with Allah."

 Hadith - 9
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (ra):
I heard the Messenger of Allah (‫ )ﷺ‬say, “What I have ‫ﻋَ نْ أَﺑِﻲ ھُرَ ﯾْرَ َة ﻋَ ْﺑ ِد اﻟرﱠ ﺣْ َﻣ ِن ْﺑ ِن ﺻَ ﺧْ رٍ رَ ﺿِ ﻲَ ﷲُ ﻋَ ْﻧ ُﮫ‬
forbidden for you, avoid. What I have ordered you [to do],
do as much of it as you can. For verily, it was only the
‫ "ﻣَﺎ‬:ُ‫ﷲ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯾﮫ و ﺳﻠم َﯾﻘُول‬ ِ ‫ ﺳَ ﻣِﻌْ ت رَ ﺳُو َل ﱠ‬:َ‫ﻗَﺎل‬
excessive questioning and their disagreeing with their ‫ َوﻣَﺎ أَﻣَرْ ُﺗ ُﻛ ْم ِﺑ ِﮫ َﻓﺄْﺗُوا ِﻣ ْﻧ ُﮫ ﻣَﺎ‬،ُ‫َﻧ َﮭ ْﯾ ُﺗ ُﻛ ْم ﻋَ ْﻧ ُﮫ ﻓَﺎﺟْ َﺗ ِﻧﺑُوه‬
Prophets that destroyed [the nations] who were before ‫ َﻓﺈِ ﱠﻧﻣَﺎ أَھْ َﻠ َك اﻟﱠذِﯾنَ ﻣِنْ َﻗ ْﺑﻠِ ُﻛ ْم َﻛﺛْرَ ةُ ﻣَﺳَ ﺎ ِﺋﻠِ ِﮭ ْم‬،ْ‫اﺳْ ﺗَطَ ﻌْ ُﺗم‬
you.”
." ‫َواﺧْ ﺗ َِﻼﻓُ ُﮭ ْم ﻋَ ﻠَﻰ أَ ْﻧ ِﺑﯾَﺎ ِﺋ ِﮭ ْم‬

Hadith - 10
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (ra):
The Messenger of Allah (‫ )ﷺ‬said, “Allah the Almighty is
ِ ‫ ﻗَﺎ َل رَ ﺳُو ُل ﱠ‬:َ‫ﻋَ نْ أَﺑِﻲ ھُرَ ﯾْرَ َة رَ ﺿِ ﻲَ ﷲُ ﻋَ ْﻧ ُﮫ ﻗَﺎل‬
‫ﷲ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯾﮫ و‬
Good and accepts only that which is good. And verily ‫ﷲ أَﻣَرَ ا ْﻟﻣ ُْؤ ِﻣﻧِﯾنَ ِﺑﻣَﺎ أَﻣَرَ ِﺑ ِﮫ‬
َ ‫ َوإِنﱠ ﱠ‬،‫ﷲ طَ ﯾﱢبٌ َﻻ َﯾ ْﻘ َﺑ ُل ﱠإﻻ طَ ﱢﯾﺑًﺎ‬
َ ‫ﺳﻠم "إنﱠ ﱠ‬
Allah has commanded the believers to do that which He
has commanded the Messengers. So the Almighty has said: ِ ‫ "ﯾَﺎ أَ ﱡﯾﮭَﺎ اﻟرﱡ ُﺳ ُل ُﻛﻠُوا ﻣِنْ اﻟ ﱠط ﱢﯾﺑَﺎ‬:‫ا ْﻟﻣُرْ ﺳَ ﻠِﯾنَ َﻓﻘَﺎ َل ﺗَﻌَ ﺎﻟَﻰ‬
‫ت َواﻋْ َﻣﻠُوا‬
“O (you) Messengers! Eat of the tayyibat [all kinds of halal
ِ ‫ "ﯾَﺎ أَ ﱡﯾﮭَﺎ اﻟﱠذِﯾنَ آ َﻣﻧُوا ُﻛﻠُوا ﻣِنْ طَ ﱢﯾﺑَﺎ‬:‫ َوﻗَﺎ َل ﺗَﻌَ ﺎﻟَﻰ‬،"‫ﺻَ ﺎﻟِﺣً ﺎ‬
‫ت ﻣَﺎ‬
(legal) foods], and perform righteous deeds.” [23:51] and
the Almighty has said: “O you who believe! Eat of the lawful
‫رَ زَ ْﻗﻧَﺎ ُﻛ ْم" ُﺛ ﱠم ذَ ﻛَرَ ال رﱠ ُﺟ َل ﯾُطِ ﯾل ُ اﻟﺳﱠ ﻔَرَ أَﺷْﻌَ ثَ أَﻏْ ﺑَرَ َﯾ ُﻣ ﱡد ﯾَدَ ْﯾ ِﮫ إﻟَﻰ‬
things that We have provided you.” [2:172]” Then he (‫)ﷺ‬
mentioned [the case] of a man who, having journeyed ُ ‫ َو َﻣ ْﻠ َﺑ‬،ٌ‫ َو َﻣﺷْرَ ُﺑ ُﮫ ﺣَ رَ ام‬،ٌ‫ ﯾَﺎ رَ بﱢ ! ﯾَﺎ رَ بﱢ ! َوﻣَطْ ﻌَ ُﻣ ُﮫ ﺣَ رَ ام‬:ِ‫اﻟ ﱠﺳﻣَﺎء‬
‫ﺳ ُﮫ‬
far, is disheveled and dusty, and who spreads out his
hands to the sky saying “O Lord! O Lord!,” while his food is [ٌ‫ ]رَ َواهُ ﻣُﺳْ ﻠِم‬."‫ َﻓﺄَﻧﱠﻰ ﯾُﺳْ ﺗَﺟَ ﺎبُ َﻟﮫُ؟‬، ِ‫ َوﻏُذﱢ يَ ﺑِﺎﻟْﺣَ رَ ام‬،ٌ‫ﺣَ رَ ام‬
haram (unlawful), his drink is haram, his clothing is haram,
and he has been nourished with haram, so how can [his ▪
supplication] be answered? [Muslim]

 Hadith - 11
On the authority of Abu Muhammad al-Hasan ibn Ali ibn
Abee Talib (may Allah be pleased with him), the grandson of
‫ﷲ ﺻﻠﻰ‬
ِ ‫ب ﺳِ ﺑْطِ رَ ﺳُولِ ﱠ‬
ٍ ِ‫ﻋَ نْ أَﺑِﻲ ﻣُﺣَ ﱠﻣ ٍد اﻟْﺣَ ﺳَ ِن ْﺑ ِن ﻋَ ﻠِﻲﱢ ْﺑ ِن أَﺑِﻲ طَ ﺎﻟ‬
the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon
ِ‫ ﺣَ ﻔِظْ ت ﻣِنْ رَ ﺳُول‬:َ ‫ ﻗَﺎل‬،‫ﷲُ ﻋَ ْﻧ ُﮭﻣَﺎ‬
‫ﷲ ﻋﻠﯾﮫ و ﺳﻠم َورَ ﯾْﺣَ ﺎ َﻧ ِﺗ ِﮫ رَ ﺿِ ﻲَ ﱠ‬
him), and the one much loved by him, who said:
"‫ﷲ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯾﮫ و ﺳﻠم "دَ عْ ﻣَﺎ ﯾُرِ ﯾﺑُك إﻟَﻰ ﻣَﺎ َﻻ ﯾُرِ ﯾﺑُك‬
ِ‫ﱠ‬
I memorised from the Messenger of Allah (peace and
blessings of Allah be upon him): “Leave that which makes
you doubt for that which does not make you doubt.”
ٌ‫ ﺣَ دِﯾث‬: ‫]واﻟﻧﱠﺳَ ﺎﺋِﻲّ [ َوﻗَﺎل َ اﻟﺗﱢرْ ِﻣذِيﱡ‬
َ ،[2520:‫ رَ َواهُ اﻟﺗﱢرْ ِﻣذِيﱡ ]رﻗم‬.

.ٌ‫ﺣَ ﺳَ نٌ ﺻَ ﺣِﯾﺢ‬
[At-Tirmidhi] [An-Nasai]
At-Tirmidhi said that it was a good and sound (hasan saheeh)
hadeeth.

 Hadith - 12
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with
ِ ‫ ﻗَﺎل َ رَ ﺳُول ُ ﱠ‬:َ ‫ﻋَ نْ أَﺑِﻲ ھُرَ ﯾْرَ َة رَ ﺿِ ﻲَ ﷲُ ﻋَ ْﻧ ُﮫ ﻗَﺎل‬
‫ﷲ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ‬
him) who said:
."ِ‫ﻋﻠﯾﮫ و ﺳﻠم "ﻣِنْ ﺣُﺳْ ِن إﺳْ َﻼمِ ا ْﻟﻣَرْ ءِ ﺗَرْ ُﻛ ُﮫ ﻣَﺎ َﻻ ﯾَﻌْ ﻧِﯾﮫ‬
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon
‫ اﺑن ﻣﺎﺟﮫ‬، [2318 :‫ رَ َواهُ اﻟﺗﱢرْ ِﻣذِيﱡ ]رﻗم‬، ٌ‫ﺣَ دِﯾثٌ ﺣَ ﺳَ ن‬
him) said, “Part of the perfection of one’s Islam is his
.[3976:‫]رﻗم‬
leaving that which does not concern him.” A hasan

(good) hadeeth which was related by at-Tirmidhi and others

in this fashion.

 Hadith - 13
On the authority of Abu Hamzah Anas bin Malik
ِ‫ﻋَ نْ أَﺑِﻲ ﺣَ ﻣْزَ َة أَﻧَسِ ْﺑ ِن ﻣَﺎﻟِكٍ رَ ﺿِ ﻲَ ﷲُ ﻋَ ْﻧ ُﮫ ﺧَ ﺎدِمِ رَ ﺳُول‬
(may Allah be pleased with him) — the servant of
the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of ‫ﷲ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯾﮫ و ﺳﻠم ﻋَ نْ اﻟ ﱠﻧﺑِﻲﱢ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯾﮫ و ﺳﻠم‬
ِ‫ﱠ‬
Allah be upon him) — that the Prophet (peace and
blessings of Allah be upon him) said: :َ‫ﻗَﺎل‬

ُ‫ رَ َواه‬."ِ‫" َﻻ ﯾ ُْؤﻣِنُ أَﺣَ ُد ُﻛ ْم ﺣَ ﺗﱠﻰ ُﯾﺣِبﱠ ِﻷَﺧِﯾ ِﮫ ﻣَﺎ ُﯾﺣِبﱡ ﻟِ َﻧﻔْﺳِ ﮫ‬

None of you [truly] believes until he loves for his
brother that which he loves for himself. .[45:‫ َوﻣُﺳْ ﻠِ ٌم ]رﻗم‬،[13:‫ا ْﻟﺑُﺧَ ﺎرِ يﱡ ]رﻗم‬

 Hadith - 14
On the authority of Ibn Masood (may Allah be
pleased with him) who said: ‫ ﻗَﺎ َل رَ ﺳُو ُل‬:َ‫ﻋَ نْ ا ْﺑ ِن ﻣَﺳْ ﻌُو ٍد رَ ﺿِ ﻲَ ﷲُ ﻋَ ْﻧ ُﮫ ﻗَﺎل‬
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah ‫ئ‬
ٍ ِ‫"ﻻ َﯾ ِﺣ ﱡل دَ ُم اﻣْر‬ َ ‫ﷲ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯾﮫ و ﺳﻠم‬ ِ‫ﱠ‬
be upon him) said, “It is not permissible to spill the [‫ وأﻧﻲ رﺳول ﷲ‬،‫ﻣُﺳْ ﻠِ ٍم ] ﯾﺷﮭد أن ﻻ إﻟﮫ إﻻ ﷲ‬
blood of a Muslim except in three [instances]: the
married person who commits adultery, a life for a
ُ‫ َواﻟ ﱠﻧﻔْس‬،‫ اﻟ ﱠﺛﯾﱢبُ اﻟزﱠ اﻧِﻲ‬:ٍ‫ﱠإﻻ ِﺑﺈِﺣْ دَ ى ﺛ ََﻼث‬
life, and the one who forsakes his religion and ."ِ‫ك ﻟِدِﯾ ِﻧ ِﮫ ا ْﻟ ُﻣﻔَﺎرِ قُ ﻟِﻠْﺟَ ﻣَﺎﻋَ ﺔ‬
ُ ِ‫ َواﻟﺗﱠﺎر‬، ِ‫ﺑِﺎﻟ ﱠﻧﻔْس‬
separates from the community.” [Al-Bukhari]
[Muslim]

 Hadith - 15
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (ُ‫)رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫ‬, who
said: ‫رَﺿِ َﻲ‬ َ‫ھُ َﺮ ْﯾ َﺮة‬ ‫أَﺑِﻲ‬ ْ‫ﻋَﻦ‬
The Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬said: Let him who:َ‫ﷲِ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ ﻗَﺎل‬ ‫ا ُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫُ أَنﱠ َرﺳُﻮ َل ﱠ‬
believes in Allah and the Last Day speak good, or
keep silent; and let him who believes in Allah and ‫"ﻣَﻦْ ﻛَﺎنَ ﯾُﺆْ ﻣِﻦُ ﺑِﺎ َ ﱠ ِ وَا ْﻟﯿَﻮْ مِ ْاﻵﺧِ ِﺮ ﻓَ ْﻠﯿَﻘُ ْﻞ‬
the Last Day be generous to his neighbour; and let ُ‫ َوﻣَﻦْ ﻛَﺎنَ ﯾُﺆْ ﻣِﻦ‬، ْ‫َﺧ ْﯿﺮًا أَوْ ﻟِﯿَﺼْ ﻤُﺖ‬
him who believes in Allah and the Last Day be
generous to his guest.
َ‫ َوﻣَﻦْ ﻛَﺎن‬،ُ‫ﺑِﺎ َ ﱠ ِ وَا ْﻟﯿَﻮْ مِ ْاﻵﺧِ ِﺮ ﻓَ ْﻠﯿُ ْﻜ ِﺮ ْم ﺟَ ﺎ َره‬
."ُ‫ﺿ ْﯿﻔَﮫ‬ َ ‫ﺑِﺎ َ ﱠ ِ وَا ْﻟﯿَﻮْ مِ ْاﻵﺧِ ِﺮ ﻓَ ْﻠﯿُ ْﻜ ِﺮ ْم‬ ُ‫ﯾُﺆْ ﻣِﻦ‬

 Hadith - 16
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (ُ‫ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫ‬ ‫)رَﺿِ َﻲ‬, who
said: : ُ‫ﻋَﻦْ أَﺑِﻲ ھُ َﺮ ْﯾ َﺮةَ رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫ‬
A man said to the Prophet ‫ﷺ‬, “Counsel me,” so he ‫أَنﱠ َرﺟ ًُﻼ ﻗَﺎ َل ﻟِﻠﻨﱠﺒِﻲﱢ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ‬
‫ ﷺ‬said, “Do not become angry.” The man repeated
[his request for counsel] several times, and [each time] :َ‫ ﻗَﺎل‬،‫ ﻓَ َﺮ ﱠد َد ِﻣﺮَارًا‬، ْ‫ َﻻ ﺗَ ْﻐﻀَﺐ‬:َ‫ ﻗَﺎل‬.‫أَوْ ﺻِ ﻨِﻲ‬
he ‫ ﷺ‬said, “Do not become angry.” . " ْ‫َﻻ ﺗَ ْﻐﻀَﺐ‬

 Hadith - 17
On the authority of Abu Ya’la Shaddad bin ‫س رَﺿِ َﻲ‬
ٍ ْ‫ﻋَﻦْ أَﺑِﻲ ﯾَ ْﻌﻠَﻰ َﺷﺪﱠا ِد ﺑْﻦِ أَو‬
Aws(ُ‫)رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫ‬, who said: that the Messenger of
Allah ‫ ﷺ‬said: :َ‫ﻗَﺎل‬ ‫ﷲِ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ‬ ‫ا ُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫُ ﻋَﻦْ َرﺳُﻮلِ ﱠ‬

Verily Allah has prescribed ihsan (proficiency,

‫ ﻓَﺈِذَا‬،ٍ‫اﻹﺣْ ﺴَﺎنَ َﻋﻠَﻰ ُﻛ ﱢﻞ ﺷَﻲْ ء‬ ِ ْ َ‫ﷲَ َﻛﺘَﺐ‬ ‫"إنﱠ ﱠ‬
perfection) in all things. So if you kill then kill ‫ َوإِذَا َذﺑَﺤْ ﺘُ ْﻢ ﻓَﺄ َﺣْ ﺴِ ﻨُﻮا‬،َ‫ﻗَﺘَ ْﻠﺘُ ْﻢ ﻓَﺄ َﺣْ ﺴِ ﻨُﻮا ا ْﻟﻘِ ْﺘﻠَﺔ‬
well; and if you slaughter, then slaughter well.
ْ‫ َو ْﻟﯿُﺮِح‬،ُ‫ﺷ ْﻔ َﺮﺗَﮫ‬ َ ‫ َو ْﻟﯿُﺤِ ﱠﺪ أَﺣَ ُﺪ ُﻛ ْﻢ‬،َ‫اﻟ ﱢﺬﺑْﺤَ ﺔ‬
Let each one of you sharpen his blade and let
him spare suffering to the animal he slaughters.” "ُ‫َذﺑِﯿﺤَ ﺘَﮫ‬

 Hadith - 18
On the authority of Abu Dharr Jundub ibn Junadah, and
Abu Abdur-Rahman Muadh bin Jabal (ُ‫)رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫ‬, that the ِ‫ َوأَﺑِﻲ َﻋ ْﺒ ِﺪ اﻟﺮﱠﺣْ ﻤَﻦ‬،َ‫ب ﺑْﻦِ ُﺟﻨَﺎ َدة‬
ِ ‫ﻋَﻦْ أَﺑِﻲ ذَرﱟ ُﺟ ْﻨ َﺪ‬
Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬said: ،‫ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮭُﻤَﺎ‬‫ُﻣﻌَﺎ ِذ ﺑْﻦِ َﺟﺒَﻞٍ رَﺿِ َﻲ ﱠ‬
Have taqwa (fear) of Allah wherever you may be, and ِ ‫ "اﺗﱠ‬:َ‫ﷲِ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ ﻗَﺎل‬
‫ﻖ‬ ‫ﻋَﻦْ َرﺳُﻮلِ ﱠ‬
follow up a bad deed with a good deed which will
wipe it out, and behave well towards the people.
،‫ﺴﻨَﺔَ ﺗَﻤْﺤُ ﮭَﺎ‬ ‫ َوأَ ْﺗﺒِ ْﻊ اﻟ ﱠ‬،‫ﷲَ ﺣَ ْﯿﺜُﻤَﺎ ُﻛﻨْﺖ‬
َ َ‫ﺴﯿﱢﺌَﺔَ اﻟْﺤ‬ ‫ﱠ‬
" ٍ‫ﻖ ﺣَ ﺴَﻦ‬ ٍ ُ‫َوﺧَﺎﻟِ ْﻖ اﻟﻨﱠﺎسَ ﺑِﺨُ ﻠ‬

 Hadith - 19
On the authority of Abu Abbas Abdullah bin Abbas(ُ‫ )رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫ‬who said: :َ‫ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮭُﻤَﺎ ﻗَﺎل‬
‫س رَﺿِ َﻲ ﱠ‬
ٍ ‫ﷲِ ﺑْﻦِ َﻋﺒﱠﺎ‬
‫ﻋَﻦْ َﻋ ْﺒ ِﺪ ﱠ‬
One day I was behind the Prophet ‫[ ﷺ‬riding on the same mount] and he said, ! ِ‫ ﯾَﺎ ﻏ َُﻼم‬:َ‫ ﻓَﻘَﺎل‬،‫ﷲِ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ ﯾَﻮْ ﻣًﺎ‬ ‫" ُﻛﻨْﺖ ﺧَ ﻠْﻒَ َرﺳُﻮلِ ﱠ‬
“O young man, I shall teach you some words [of advice]: Be mindful of Allah
‫ إذَا‬،‫ﷲَ ﺗَﺠِ ْﺪهُ ﺗُﺠَ ﺎھَﻚ‬ ‫ اﺣْ ﻔَ ْﻆ ﱠ‬،‫ﷲَ ﯾَﺤْ ﻔَﻈْﻚ‬ ‫ اﺣْ ﻔَ ْﻆ ﱠ‬:ٍ‫إﻧﱢﻲ أُ َﻋﻠﱢﻤُﻚ َﻛﻠِﻤَﺎت‬
and Allah will protect you. Be mindful of Allah and you will find Him in front
of you. If you ask, then ask Allah [alone]; and if you seek help, then seek help ْ‫ وَا ْﻋﻠَ ْﻢ أَنﱠ ْاﻷُ ﱠﻣﺔَ ﻟَﻮ‬،ِ ‫ﺳﺘَﻌِﻦْ ﺑِﺎ َ ﱠ‬ ْ ‫ َوإِذَا ا‬،َ‫ﷲ‬
ْ ‫ﺳﺘَ َﻌﻨْﺖ ﻓَﺎ‬ ‫ﺳﺄ َ ْل ﱠ‬
ْ ‫ﺳﺄَﻟْﺖ ﻓَﺎ‬
َ
from Allah [alone]. And know that if the nation were to gather together to ،‫ﷲُ ﻟَﻚ‬ ‫اﺟْ ﺘَ َﻤﻌَﺖْ َﻋﻠَﻰ أَنْ ﯾَ ْﻨﻔَﻌُﻮك ﺑِﺸَﻲْ ٍء ﻟَ ْﻢ ﯾَ ْﻨﻔَﻌُﻮك ﱠإﻻ ﺑِﺸَﻲْ ٍء ﻗَ ْﺪ َﻛﺘَﺒَﮫُ ﱠ‬
benefit you with anything, they would not benefit you except with what Allah ُ‫َوإِنْ اﺟْ ﺘَ َﻤﻌُﻮا َﻋﻠَﻰ أَنْ ﯾَﻀُﺮﱡ وك ﺑِﺸَﻲْ ٍء ﻟَ ْﻢ ﯾَﻀُﺮﱡ وك ﱠإﻻ ﺑِﺸَﻲْ ٍء ﻗَ ْﺪ َﻛﺘَﺒَﮫ‬
had already prescribed for you. And if they were to gather together to harm you
with anything, they would not harm you except with what Allah had already
. " ُ‫ وَﺟَ ﻔﱠﺖْ اﻟﺼﱡ ﺤُ ﻒ‬،ُ‫ﷲُ َﻋﻠَﯿْﻚ؛ ُرﻓِﻌَﺖْ ْاﻷَﻗ َْﻼم‬ ‫ﱠ‬
prescribed against you. The pens have been lifted and the pages have dried.”
،ِ‫ﺸ ﱠﺪة‬‫ﷲِ ﻓِﻲ اﻟﺮﱠﺧَ ﺎ ِء ﯾَ ْﻌ ِﺮﻓُﻚ ﻓِﻲ اﻟ ﱢ‬ ‫ ﺗَ َﻌﺮﱠفْ إﻟَﻰ ﱠ‬،‫ﷲَ ﺗَﺠِ ْﺪهُ أﻣﺎﻣﻚ‬ ‫ﻆ ﱠ‬ ْ َ‫"اﺣْ ﻔ‬
Another narration,Be mindful of Allah, and you will find Him in front of you. ،‫ َوﻣَﺎ أَﺻَﺎﺑَﻚ ﻟَ ْﻢ ﯾَﻜُﻦْ ﻟِﯿُﺨْ ﻄِ ﺌَﻚ‬،‫وَا ْﻋﻠَ ْﻢ أَنﱠ ﻣَﺎ أَﺧْ ﻄَﺄ َك ﻟَ ْﻢ ﯾَﻜُﻦْ ﻟِﯿُﺼِ ﯿﺒَﻚ‬
Recognize and acknowledge Allah in times of ease and prosperity, and He ‫ﺴ ِﺮ‬ْ ‫ َوأَنﱠ َﻣ َﻊ ا ْﻟ ُﻌ‬،ِ‫ َوأَنْ ا ْﻟﻔَﺮَجَ َﻣ َﻊ ا ْﻟﻜَﺮْ ب‬،ِ‫ﺼ ْﺒﺮ‬
‫وَا ْﻋﻠَ ْﻢ أَنﱠ اﻟﻨﱠﺼْ َﺮ َﻣ َﻊ اﻟ ﱠ‬
will remember you in times of adversity. And know that what has passed you
by [and you have failed to attain] was not going to befall you, and what has
."‫ﺴﺮًا‬ ْ ُ‫ﯾ‬
befallen you was not going to pass you by. And know that victory comes with
patience, relief with affliction, and hardship with ease.

 Hadith - 20
On the authority of Abu Masood Uqbah bin ’Amr
al-Ansaree al-Badree (ُ‫ )رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫ‬who said: ‫ﻋَﻦْ أَﺑِﻲ َﻣ ْﺴﻌُﻮ ٍد ُﻋ ْﻘﺒَﺔَ ﺑْﻦِ َﻋ ْﻤﺮٍو ْاﻷَ ْﻧﺼَﺎرِيﱢ‬
:َ‫ي رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫُ ﻗَﺎل‬ ‫ا ْﻟﺒَ ْﺪ ِر ﱢ‬
The Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬said, “Verily, from what
was learnt by the people from the speech of the ‫ﷲِ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ "إنﱠ ِﻣﻤﱠﺎ‬ ‫ﻗَﺎ َل َرﺳُﻮ ُل ﱠ‬
earliest prophecy is: If you feel no shame, then do as ‫ﺢ‬ ْ َ‫ إذَا ﻟَ ْﻢ ﺗ‬:‫أَ ْد َر َك اﻟﻨﱠﺎسُ ﻣِﻦْ ﻛ ََﻼمِ اﻟﻨﱡﺒُ ﱠﻮ ِة ْاﻷُوﻟَﻰ‬
ِ َ‫ﺴﺘ‬
you wish.”
. "‫ﻓَﺎﺻْ ﻨَ ْﻊ ﻣَﺎ ﺷِ ﺌْﺖ‬

 Hadith - 21
On the authority of Abu `Amr — and he is also
called Abu `Amrah — Sufyan bin Abdullah ath- َ‫ أَﺑِﻲ َﻋ ْﻤ َﺮةَ ُﺳ ْﻔﯿَﺎن‬:َ‫ﻋَﻦْ أَﺑِﻲ َﻋ ْﻤﺮٍو َوﻗِﯿﻞ‬
Thaqafee(ُ‫ )رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫ‬who said: :َ‫ﷲِ رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫُ ﻗَﺎل‬ ‫ﺑْﻦِ َﻋ ْﺒ ِﺪ ﱠ‬
I said, "O Messenger of Allah, tell me something ِ ْ ‫ﷲِ! ﻗُ ْﻞ ﻟِﻲ ﻓِﻲ‬
ِ‫اﻹﺳ َْﻼم‬ ‫ ﯾَﺎ َرﺳُﻮ َل ﱠ‬:‫"ﻗُﻠْﺖ‬
about al-Islam which I can ask of no one but
you." He ‫ ﷺ‬said, "Say I believe in Allah — : ْ‫ ﻗُﻞ‬:َ‫ﺳﺄ َ ُل َﻋ ْﻨﮫُ أَﺣَ ﺪًا َﻏ ْﯿﺮَك؛ ﻗَﺎل‬
ْ َ‫ﻗَﻮْ ًﻻ َﻻ أ‬
and then be steadfast." . "ْ‫ﺳﺘَﻘِﻢ‬ ْ ‫آ َﻣﻨْﺖ ﺑِﺎ َ ﱠ ِ ﺛُ ﱠﻢ ا‬

 Hadith - 22
On the authority of Abu Abdullah Jabir bin Abdullah
al-Ansaree (ُ‫ )رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫ‬that: ‫ﻋَﻦْ أَﺑِﻲ َﻋ ْﺒ ِﺪ‬
:‫ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮭُﻤَﺎ‬
‫ﷲِ ْاﻷَ ْﻧﺼَﺎرِيﱢ رَﺿِ َﻲ ﱠ‬
‫ا ﱠ ِ ﺟَﺎﺑِ ِﺮ ﺑْﻦِ َﻋ ْﺒ ِﺪ ﱠ‬
A man questioned the Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬and
said, “Do you think that if I perform the obligatory ‫"أَنﱠ َرﺟ ًُﻼ َﺳﺄ َ َل َرﺳُﻮ َل‬
prayers, fast in Ramadhan, treat as lawful that
which is halal, and treat as forbidden that which is
‫ أَ َرأَﯾْﺖ إذَا‬:َ‫ﷲِ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ ﻓَﻘَﺎل‬ ‫ﱠ‬
haram, and do not increase upon that [in voluntary ، َ‫ﺻﻤْﺖ َر َﻣﻀَﺎن‬ ُ ‫ َو‬،ِ‫ﺻﻠﱠﯿْﺖ ا ْﻟ َﻤ ْﻜﺘُﻮﺑَﺎت‬ َ
good deeds], then I shall enter Paradise?” He ‫ﷺ‬
‫ َوﻟَ ْﻢ أَ ِز ْد‬،َ‫ وَﺣَ ﱠﺮﻣْﺖ اﻟْﺤَ ﺮَام‬،َ‫َوأَﺣْ ﻠَﻠْﺖ اﻟْﺤَ َﻼل‬
replied, “Yes.”
."ْ‫ ﻧَ َﻌﻢ‬:َ‫َﻋﻠَﻰ َذﻟِ َﻚ َﺷ ْﯿﺌًﺎ؛ أَأَدْﺧُ ُﻞ اﻟْﺠَ ﻨﱠﺔَ؟ ﻗَﺎل‬

 Hadith - 23
On the authority of Abu Malik al-Harith bin Asim ‫ي رَﺿِ َﻲ‬
‫ث ﺑْﻦِ ﻋَﺎﺻِ ﻢٍ ْاﻷَ ْﺷ َﻌ ِﺮ ﱢ‬
ِ ‫ﻋَﻦْ أَﺑِﻲ ﻣَﺎﻟِﻚٍ ا ْﻟﺤَﺎ ِر‬
al-Asharee (ُ‫ )رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫ‬who said:
:َ‫ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫُ ﻗَﺎل‬
The Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬said, “Purity is half of iman
(faith). ‘Al-hamdu lillah (praise be to Allah)’ fills the ‫ﷲِ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ "اﻟﻄﱠﮭُﻮ ُر‬ ‫ﻗَﺎ َل َرﺳُﻮ ُل ﱠ‬
scales, and ‘subhan-Allah (how far is Allah from every
imperfection) and ‘Al-hamdulillah (praise be to Allah)’ fill َ‫ﺳﺒْﺤَ ﺎن‬ ُ ‫ َو‬، َ‫ وَاﻟْﺤَ ْﻤ ُﺪ ِ ﱠ ِ ﺗَﻤ َْﻸُ ا ْﻟﻤِﯿﺰَان‬، ِ‫اﻹﯾﻤَﺎن‬ ِ ْ ‫ﺷ ْﻄ ُﺮ‬ َ
that which is between heaven and earth. And the salah ‫ﺴﻤَﺎ ِء‬ ‫ ﻣَﺎ ﺑَﯿْﻦَ اﻟ ﱠ‬-ُ‫ ﺗَﻤ َْﻸ‬: ْ‫أَو‬- ِ‫ﷲِ وَا ْﻟ َﺤ ْﻤ ُﺪ ِ ﱠ ِ ﺗَﻤ َْﻶن‬‫ﱠ‬
(prayer) is a light, and charity is a proof, and patience is
، ٌ‫ﺼ َﺪﻗَﺔُ ﺑُﺮْ ھَﺎن‬
‫ وَاﻟ ﱠ‬،ٌ‫ وَاﻟﺼ َﱠﻼةُ ﻧُﻮر‬،ِ‫و َْاﻷَرْ ض‬
illumination, and the Qur’an is a proof either for you or
against you. Every person starts his day as a vendor of ‫ ُﻛ ﱡﻞ‬،‫ وَا ْﻟﻘُﺮْ آنُ ﺣُ ﺠﱠ ﺔٌ ﻟَﻚ أَوْ َﻋﻠَﯿْﻚ‬،ٌ‫ﺼ ْﺒ ُﺮ ﺿِ ﯿَﺎء‬ ‫وَاﻟ ﱠ‬
his soul, either freeing it or causing its ruin.” ."‫ﺴﮫُ ﻓَ ُﻤ ْﻌﺘِﻘُﮭَﺎ أَوْ ﻣُﻮﺑِﻘُﮭَﺎ‬ َ ‫ ﻓَﺒَﺎﺋِ ٌﻊ ﻧَ ْﻔ‬،‫س ﯾَ ْﻐﺪُو‬ِ ‫اﻟﻨﱠﺎ‬

 Hadith - 24
On the authority of Abu Dharr al-Ghifaree (ُ‫)رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫ‬from the Prophet‫ﷺ‬from his Lord, ُ‫ي رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫ‬
‫ﻋَﻦْ أَﺑِﻲ ذَرﱟ ا ْﻟ ِﻐﻔَﺎ ِر ﱢ‬
that He said:
O My servants! I have forbidden dhulm (oppression) for Myself, and I have made it ‫ إﻧﱢﻲ‬:‫ "ﯾَﺎ ِﻋﺒَﺎدِي‬:َ‫ أَﻧﱠﮫُ ﻗَﺎل‬،‫ك َوﺗَﻌَﺎﻟَﻰ‬ َ ‫ﻋَﻦْ اﻟﻨﱠﺒِ ﱢﻲ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ ﻓِﯿﻤَﺎ ﯾَﺮْ وِﯾ ِﮫ ﻋَﻦْ َرﺑﱢ ِﮫ ﺗَﺒَﺎ َر‬
forbidden amongst you, so do not oppress one another. O My servants, all of you are astray
ْ‫ ﯾَﺎ ِﻋﺒَﺎدِي! ُﻛﻠﱡ ُﻜ ْﻢ ﺿَﺎ ﱞل ﱠإﻻ ﻣَﻦ‬.‫ وَﺟَ َﻌﻠْﺘﮫ ﺑَ ْﯿﻨَ ُﻜ ْﻢ ﻣُﺤَ ﱠﺮﻣًﺎ؛ ﻓ ََﻼ ﺗَﻈَﺎﻟَﻤُﻮا‬،‫ﻈ ْﻠ َﻢ َﻋﻠَﻰ ﻧَﻔْﺴِ ﻲ‬ ‫ﺣَ ﱠﺮﻣْﺖ اﻟ ﱡ‬
except those whom I have guided, so seek guidance from Me and I shall guide you. O My
servants, all of you are hungry except those whom I have fed, so seek food from Me and I shall ‫ ﯾَﺎ‬.ْ‫ﺳﺘَ ْﻄ ِﻌﻤُﻮﻧِﻲ أُ ْط ِﻌ ْﻤ ُﻜﻢ‬
ْ ‫ ﻓَﺎ‬،‫ ﯾَﺎ ِﻋﺒَﺎدِي! ُﻛﻠﱡ ُﻜ ْﻢ ﺟَ ﺎﺋِ ٌﻊ ﱠإﻻ ﻣَﻦْ أَ ْط َﻌﻤْﺘﮫ‬.ْ‫ﺳﺘَ ْﮭﺪُوﻧِﻲ أَ ْھ ِﺪ ُﻛﻢ‬
ْ ‫ ﻓَﺎ‬،‫َھ َﺪﯾْﺘﮫ‬
feed you. O My servants, all of you are naked except those whom I have clothed, so seek .ْ‫ﺴ ُﻜﻢ‬
ُ ‫ﺳﺘَ ْﻜﺴُﻮﻧِﻲ أَ ْﻛ‬ ْ ‫ ﻓَﺎ‬،‫ِﻋﺒَﺎدِي! ُﻛﻠﱡ ُﻜ ْﻢ ﻋَﺎ ٍر ﱠإﻻ ﻣَﻦْ َﻛﺴَﻮْ ﺗﮫ‬
clothing from Me and I shall clothe you.
.ْ‫ﺳﺘَ ْﻐﻔِﺮُوﻧِﻲ أَ ْﻏﻔِﺮْ ﻟَ ُﻜﻢ‬
ْ ‫ َوأَﻧَﺎ أَ ْﻏﻔِ ُﺮ اﻟ ﱡﺬﻧُﻮبَ ﺟَ ﻤِﯿﻌًﺎ؛ ﻓَﺎ‬،ِ‫ﯾَﺎ ِﻋﺒَﺎدِي! إﻧﱠ ُﻜ ْﻢ ﺗُﺨْ ﻄِ ﺌُﻮنَ ﺑِﺎﻟﻠﱠﯿْﻞِ وَاﻟﻨﱠﮭَﺎر‬
O My servants, you commit sins by day and by night, and I forgive all sins, so seek
forgiveness from Me and I shall forgive you. .‫ َوﻟَﻦْ ﺗَ ْﺒﻠُﻐُﻮا ﻧَ ْﻔﻌِﻲ ﻓَﺘَ ْﻨﻔَﻌُﻮﻧِﻲ‬،‫ﺿﺮﱢي ﻓَﺘَﻀُﺮﱡ وﻧِﻲ‬
ُ ‫ﯾَﺎ ِﻋﺒَﺎدِي! إﻧﱠ ُﻜ ْﻢ ﻟَﻦْ ﺗَ ْﺒﻠُﻐُﻮا‬
O My servants, you will not attain harming Me so as to harm Me, and you will not attain
benefiting Me so as to benefit Me. ِ ‫ﺴ ُﻜ ْﻢ وَﺟِ ﻨﱠ ُﻜ ْﻢ ﻛَﺎﻧُﻮا َﻋﻠَﻰ أَ ْﺗﻘَﻰ ﻗَ ْﻠ‬
‫ ﻣَﺎ زَا َد‬،ْ‫ﺐ رَﺟُ ﻞٍ وَاﺣِ ٍﺪ ِﻣ ْﻨ ُﻜﻢ‬ َ ‫ﯾَﺎ ِﻋﺒَﺎدِي! ﻟَﻮْ أَنﱠ أَ ﱠوﻟَ ُﻜ ْﻢ وَآﺧِ َﺮ ُﻛ ْﻢ َوإِ ْﻧ‬
O My servants, if the first of you and the last of you, and the humans of you and the jinn of
you, were all as pious as the most pious heart of any individual amongst you, then this would
.‫ﺷ ْﯿﺌًﺎ‬
َ ‫َذﻟِ َﻚ ﻓِﻲ ُﻣ ْﻠﻜِﻲ‬
not increase My Kingdom an iota.
O My servants, if the first of you and the last of you, and the humans of you and the jinn of you, َ‫ ﻣَﺎ ﻧَﻘَﺺ‬،ْ‫ﺐ َرﺟُﻞٍ وَاﺣِ ٍﺪ ِﻣ ْﻨ ُﻜﻢ‬
ِ ‫ﯾَﺎ ِﻋﺒَﺎدِي! ﻟَﻮْ أَنﱠ أَ ﱠوﻟَ ُﻜ ْﻢ وَآﺧِ َﺮ ُﻛ ْﻢ َوإِ ْﻧ َﺴ ُﻜ ْﻢ وَﺟِ ﻨﱠ ُﻜ ْﻢ ﻛَﺎﻧُﻮا َﻋﻠَﻰ أَﻓْﺠَ ِﺮ ﻗَ ْﻠ‬
were all as wicked as the most wicked heart of any individual amongst you, then this would not .‫ﻚ ﻣِﻦْ ُﻣ ْﻠﻜِﻲ َﺷ ْﯿﺌًﺎ‬َ ِ‫َذﻟ‬
decrease My Kingdom an iota.

 ‫‪Hadith - 24‬‬
‫ﺻﻌِﯿ ٍﺪ وَاﺣِ ﺪٍ‪،‬‬
‫ﯾَﺎ ِﻋﺒَﺎدِي! ﻟَﻮْ أَنﱠ أَ ﱠوﻟَ ُﻜ ْﻢ وَآﺧِ َﺮ ُﻛ ْﻢ َوإِ ْﻧ َﺴ ُﻜ ْﻢ وَﺟِ ﻨﱠ ُﻜ ْﻢ ﻗَﺎﻣُﻮا ﻓِﻲ َ‬
‫ﻚ ِﻣﻤﱠﺎ ِﻋ ْﻨﺪِي ﱠإﻻ َﻛﻤَﺎ ﯾَ ْﻨﻘُﺺُ‬
‫ﺴﺄَﻟَﺘﮫ‪ ،‬ﻣَﺎ ﻧَﻘَﺺَ َذﻟِ َ‬ ‫ﻓَ َﺴﺄَﻟُﻮﻧِﻲ‪ ،‬ﻓَﺄ َ ْﻋﻄَﯿْﺖ ُﻛ ﱠﻞ وَاﺣِ ٍﺪ َﻣ ْ‬
‫‪O My servants, it is but your deeds that I account for you, and then recompense you for. So he‬‬
‫ا ْﻟﻤِﺨْ ﯿَﻂُ إذَا أُدْﺧِ َﻞ ا ْﻟﺒَﺤْ ﺮَ‪.‬‬
‫‪who finds good, let him praise Allah, and he who finds other than that, let him blame no one‬‬
‫‪but himself.‬‬ ‫ﯾَﺎ ِﻋﺒَﺎدِي! إﻧﱠﻤَﺎ ِھ َﻲ أَ ْﻋﻤَﺎﻟُ ُﻜ ْﻢ أُﺣْ ﺼِ ﯿﮭَﺎ ﻟَ ُﻜﻢْ‪ ،‬ﺛُ ﱠﻢ أُ َوﻓﱢﯿ ُﻜ ْﻢ إﯾﱠﺎھَﺎ؛ ﻓَﻤَﻦْ وَﺟَ َﺪ َﺧ ْﯿﺮًا‬
‫ﷲَ‪َ ،‬وﻣَﻦْ َو َﺟ َﺪ َﻏ ْﯿ َﺮ َذﻟِ َﻚ ﻓ ََﻼ ﯾَﻠُﻮﻣَﻦ ﱠإﻻ ﻧَ ْﻔ َﺴﮫُ"‬ ‫ﻓَ ْﻠﯿَﺤْ َﻤ ْﺪ ﱠ‬

 Hadith - 25
Also on the authority of Abu Dharr (ُ‫)رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫ‬: ،‫ﻋَﻦْ أَﺑِﻲ ذَرﱟ رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫُ أَ ْﯾﻀًﺎ‬
Some people from amongst the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ‫ﷲِ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ ﻗَﺎﻟُﻮا ﻟِﻠﻨﱠﺒِﻲﱢ‬ ‫ب َرﺳُﻮلِ ﱠ‬ ِ ‫"أَنﱠ ﻧَﺎﺳًﺎ ﻣِﻦْ أَﺻْ ﺤَ ﺎ‬
‫ﷺ‬said to the Prophet ‫ﷺ‬, "O Messenger of Allah, the affluent have
made off with the rewards; they pray as we pray, they fast as we fast, and
‫ﷲِ َذھَﺐَ أَ ْھ ُﻞ اﻟ ﱡﺪﺛُﻮ ِر ﺑ ِْﺎﻷُﺟُ ﻮرِ؛‬ ‫ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ ﯾَﺎ َرﺳُﻮ َل ﱠ‬
they give [much] in charity by virtue of their wealth." He (peace and ِ‫ﺼ ﱠﺪﻗُﻮنَ ﺑِﻔُﻀُﻮل‬ َ َ‫ َوﯾَﺘ‬،ُ‫ َوﯾَﺼُﻮﻣُﻮنَ َﻛﻤَﺎ ﻧَﺼُﻮم‬،‫ﺼﻠﱢﻲ‬ َ ُ‫ﺼﻠﱡﻮنَ َﻛﻤَﺎ ﻧ‬ َ ُ‫ﯾ‬
blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Has not Allah made things for you to ‫ﺼ ﱠﺪﻗُﻮنَ ؟ إنﱠ ﺑِ ُﻜ ﱢﻞ‬ ‫ﷲُ ﻟَ ُﻜ ْﻢ ﻣَﺎ ﺗَ ﱠ‬‫ أَ َوﻟَﯿْﺲَ ﻗَ ْﺪ ﺟَ َﻌ َﻞ ﱠ‬:َ‫ ﻗَﺎل‬.ْ‫أَ ْﻣﻮَاﻟِ ِﮭﻢ‬
give in charity? Truly every tasbeehah [saying: 'subhan-Allah'] is a
charity, and every takbeerah [saying: 'Allahu akbar'] is a charity, and every
‫ َو ُﻛ ﱢﻞ‬،ً‫ﺻ َﺪﻗَﺔ‬ َ ‫ َوﻛُﻞﱢ ﺗَﺤْ ﻤِﯿ َﺪ ٍة‬،ً‫ﺻ َﺪﻗَﺔ‬ َ ‫ َو ُﻛ ﱢﻞ ﺗَ ْﻜﺒِﯿ َﺮ ٍة‬،ً‫ﺻ َﺪﻗَﺔ‬َ ‫ﺴﺒِﯿﺤَ ٍﺔ‬ ْ َ‫ﺗ‬
tahmeedah [saying: 'al-hamdu lillah'] is a charity, and every tahleelah ،ٌ‫ﺻ َﺪﻗَﺔ‬ َ ‫ َوﻧَ ْﮭ ٌﻲ ﻋَﻦْ ُﻣ ْﻨ َﻜ ٍﺮ‬،ٌ‫ﺻ َﺪﻗَﺔ‬ َ ٍ‫ َوأَ ْﻣ ٌﺮ ﺑِ َﻤ ْﻌﺮُوف‬،ً‫ﺻ َﺪﻗَﺔ‬ َ ‫ﺗَ ْﮭﻠِﯿﻠَ ٍﺔ‬
[saying: 'laa ilaha illAllah'] is a charity. And commanding the good is a ُ‫ﺷ ْﮭ َﻮﺗَﮫ‬ َ ‫ﷲِ أَﯾَﺄْﺗِﻲ أَﺣَ ُﺪﻧَﺎ‬ ‫ ﯾَﺎ َرﺳُﻮ َل ﱠ‬:‫ ﻗَﺎﻟُﻮا‬.ٌ‫ﺻ َﺪﻗَﺔ‬ َ ‫َوﻓِﻲ ﺑُﻀْ ِﻊ أَﺣَ ِﺪ ُﻛ ْﻢ‬
charity, and forbidding an evil is a charity, and in the bud`i [sexual act] of
each one of you there is a charity." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, when ‫ﺿ َﻌﮭَﺎ ﻓِﻲ ﺣَ ﺮَامٍ أَﻛَﺎنَ َﻋﻠَ ْﯿ ِﮫ‬ َ ‫ أَ َرأَ ْﯾﺘُ ْﻢ ﻟَﻮْ َو‬:َ‫َوﯾَﻜُﻮنُ ﻟَﮫُ ﻓِﯿﮭَﺎ أَﺟْ ﺮٌ؟ ﻗَﺎل‬
one of us fulfils his carnal desire will he have some reward for that?" He ."ٌ‫ ﻛَﺎنَ ﻟَﮫُ أَﺟْ ﺮ‬، ِ‫ﺿ َﻌﮭَﺎ ﻓِﻲ اﻟْﺤَ َﻼل‬ َ ‫ﻚ إذَا َو‬ َ ِ‫وِزْ رٌ؟ ﻓَ َﻜ َﺬﻟ‬
(peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Do you not see that if he
were to act upon it [his desire] in an unlawful manner then he would be
deserving of punishment? Likewise, if he were to act upon it in a lawful
manner then he will be deserving of a reward."

 Hadith - 26
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (ُ‫ )رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫ‬who said: :َ‫ﻋَﻦْ أَﺑِﻲ ھُ َﺮ ْﯾ َﺮةَ رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫُ ﻗَﺎل‬
The Messenger of Allah‫ﷺ‬said, “Every joint of a person must perform a
charity each day that the sun rises: to judge justly between two people is
ْ‫ﷲِ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ " ُﻛ ﱡﻞ ﺳ َُﻼﻣَﻰ ﻣِﻦ‬ ‫ﻗَﺎ َل َرﺳُﻮ ُل ﱠ‬
a charity. To help a man with his mount, lifting him onto it or hoisting َ‫ﺸﻤْﺲُ ﺗَ ْﻌ ِﺪ ُل ﺑَﯿْﻦ‬ ‫ ُﻛ ﱠﻞ ﯾَﻮْ مٍ ﺗَ ْﻄﻠُ ُﻊ ﻓِﯿ ِﮫ اﻟ ﱠ‬،ٌ‫ﺻ َﺪﻗَﺔ‬َ ‫س َﻋﻠَ ْﯿ ِﮫ‬
ِ ‫اﻟﻨﱠﺎ‬
up his belongings onto it, is a charity. And the good word is a charity. And
every step that you take towards the prayer is a charity, and removing a ْ‫ َوﺗُﻌِﯿﻦُ اﻟﺮﱠﺟُ َﻞ ﻓِﻲ دَاﺑﱠﺘِ ِﮫ ﻓَﺘَﺤْ ِﻤﻠُﮫُ َﻋﻠَ ْﯿﮭَﺎ أَو‬،ٌ‫ﺻ َﺪﻗَﺔ‬ َ ِ‫ا ْﺛﻨَﯿْﻦ‬
harmful object from the road is a charity.”
،ٌ‫ﺻ َﺪﻗَﺔ‬ َ ُ‫ وَا ْﻟ َﻜﻠِ َﻤﺔُ اﻟﻄﱠﯿﱢﺒَﺔ‬،ٌ‫ﺻ َﺪﻗَﺔ‬َ ُ‫ﺗَﺮْ ﻓَ ُﻊ ﻟَﮫُ َﻋﻠَ ْﯿﮭَﺎ َﻣﺘَﺎ َﻋﮫ‬
‫ َوﺗُﻤِﯿﻂُ ْاﻷَذَى‬،ٌ‫ﺻ َﺪﻗَﺔ‬ َ ‫َوﺑِ ُﻜ ﱢﻞ ﺧُ ْﻄ َﻮ ٍة ﺗَﻤْﺸِ ﯿﮭَﺎ إﻟَﻰ اﻟﺼ َﱠﻼ ِة‬
."ٌ‫ﺻ َﺪﻗَﺔ‬
َ ‫ﻖ‬ ِ ‫ﻋَﻦْ اﻟﻄﱠﺮِﯾ‬

 Hadith - 27
On the authority of an-Nawas bin Sam’an(ُ‫)رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫ‬, that the Prophet ْ‫س ﺑْﻦِ َﺳ ْﻤﻌَﺎنَ رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫُ ﻋَﻦ‬
ِ ‫ﻋَﻦْ اﻟﻨﱠﻮﱠا‬
‫ ﷺ‬said:

Righteousness is in good character, and wrongdoing is that which

،ِ‫ "ا ْﻟﺒِﺮﱡ ﺣُ ﺴْﻦُ اﻟْﺨُ ﻠُﻖ‬:َ‫اﻟﻨﱠﺒِﻲﱢ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ ﻗَﺎل‬
wavers in your soul, and which you dislike people finding out about. ‫ َو َﻛ ِﺮھْﺖ أَنْ ﯾَﻄﱠﻠِ َﻊ َﻋﻠَ ْﯿ ِﮫ‬،‫ﺻ ْﺪرِك‬
َ ‫َاﻹ ْﺛ ُﻢ ﻣَﺎ ﺣَ ﺎ َك ﻓِﻲ‬
ِْ ‫و‬
And on the authority of Wabisah bin Ma’bad(ُ‫ )رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫ‬who said: I came " ُ‫اﻟﻨﱠﺎس‬
to the Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬and he ‫ ﷺ‬said, “You have come to ask
about righteousness.” I said, “Yes.” He‫ﷺ‬said, “Consult your heart. ‫ أَﺗَﯿْﺖ َرﺳُﻮ َل‬:َ‫ﺼﺔَ ﺑْﻦِ َﻣ ْﻌﺒَ ٍﺪ رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫُ ﻗَﺎل‬ َ ِ‫َوﻋَﻦْ وَاﺑ‬
Righteousness is that about which the soul feels at ease and the heart feels
tranquil. And wrongdoing is that which wavers in the soul and causes ‫ﺴﺄ َ ُل ﻋَﻦْ ا ْﻟﺒِ ﱢﺮ؟‬ ْ َ‫ "ﺟِ ﺌْﺖَ ﺗ‬:َ‫ﷲِ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ ﻓَﻘَﺎل‬ ‫ﱠ‬
uneasiness in the breast, even though people have repeatedly given their
legal opinion [in its favour].”
‫ ا ْﻟﺒِﺮﱡ ﻣَﺎ ا ْط َﻤﺄَﻧﱠﺖْ إﻟَ ْﯿ ِﮫ‬،‫ اﺳﺘﻔﺖ ﻗﻠﺒﻚ‬:َ‫ ﻓﻘَﺎل‬.ْ‫ ﻧَ َﻌﻢ‬:‫ﻗُﻠْﺖ‬
ِ ‫ك ﻓِﻲ اﻟﻨﱠ ْﻔ‬
‫ﺲ‬ َ ‫َاﻹ ْﺛ ُﻢ ﻣَﺎ ﺣَﺎ‬
ِ ْ ‫ و‬، ُ‫ وَا ْط َﻤﺄ َنﱠ إﻟَ ْﯿ ِﮫ ا ْﻟﻘَﻠْﺐ‬، ُ‫اﻟﻨﱠﻔْﺲ‬
"‫ َوإِنْ أَ ْﻓﺘَﺎك اﻟﻨﱠﺎسُ َوأَ ْﻓﺘَﻮْ ك‬،ِ‫ﺼ ْﺪر‬ ‫َوﺗَ َﺮ ﱠد َد ﻓِﻲ اﻟ ﱠ‬

 Hadith - 28
On the authority of Abu Najeeh al-’Irbaad ibn Saariyah (ُ‫ )رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫ‬who :َ‫ض ﺑْﻦِ ﺳَﺎ ِرﯾَﺔَ رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫُ ﻗَﺎل‬
ِ ‫ﺢ ا ْﻟﻌِﺮْ ﺑَﺎ‬
ٍ ‫ﻋَﻦْ أَﺑِﻲ ﻧَﺠِ ﯿ‬
said:

The Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬gave us a sermon by which our hearts were ً‫ﷲِ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ ﻣَﻮْ ِﻋﻈَﺔ‬ ‫" َو َﻋﻈَﻨَﺎ َرﺳُﻮ ُل ﱠ‬
filled with fear and tears came to our eyes. So we said, “O Messenger of ‫ ﯾَﺎ‬:‫ ﻓَﻘُ ْﻠﻨَﺎ‬، ُ‫ َو َذ َرﻓَﺖْ ِﻣ ْﻨﮭَﺎ ا ْﻟ ُﻌﯿُﻮن‬، ُ‫وَﺟِ ﻠَﺖْ ِﻣ ْﻨﮭَﺎ ا ْﻟﻘُﻠُﻮب‬
Allah! It is as though this is a farewell sermon, so counsel us.” He ‫ﷺ‬
said, “I counsel you to have taqwa (fear) of Allah, and to listen and obey ‫ أُوﺻِ ﯿ ُﻜ ْﻢ‬:َ‫ ﻗَﺎل‬،‫ع ﻓَﺄ َوْ ﺻِ ﻨَﺎ‬ ٍ ‫ﷲِ! َﻛﺄَﻧﱠﮭَﺎ ﻣَﻮْ ِﻋﻈَﺔُ ُﻣ َﻮ ﱢد‬ ‫َرﺳُﻮ َل ﱠ‬
[your leader], even if a slave were to become your ameer. Verily he
among you who lives long will see great controversy, so you must keep
،ٌ‫ﺴ ْﻤ ِﻊ وَاﻟﻄﱠﺎ َﻋ ِﺔ َوإِنْ ﺗَﺄ َ ﱠﻣ َﺮ َﻋﻠَ ْﯿ ُﻜ ْﻢ َﻋ ْﺒﺪ‬ ‫ وَاﻟ ﱠ‬،ِ‫ﷲ‬ ‫ﺑِﺘَ ْﻘﻮَى ﱠ‬
to my Sunnah and to the Sunnah of the Khulafa ar-Rashideen (the ‫ ﻓَ َﻌﻠَ ْﯿ ُﻜ ْﻢ‬،‫ﺴﯿَﺮَى اﺧْ ﺘ َِﻼﻓًﺎ َﻛﺜِﯿﺮًا‬ َ َ‫ﻓَﺈِﻧﱠﮫُ ﻣَﻦْ ﯾَﻌِﺶْ ِﻣ ْﻨ ُﻜ ْﻢ ﻓ‬
rightly guided caliphs), those who guide to the right way. Cling to it
stubbornly [literally: with your molar teeth]. Beware of newly invented ‫ ﻋَﻀﱡ ﻮا‬، َ‫ﺳﻨﱠ ِﺔ اﻟْﺨُ ﻠَﻔَﺎ ِء اﻟﺮﱠاﺷِ ﺪِﯾﻦَ ا ْﻟ َﻤ ْﮭﺪِﯾﯿﻦ‬ ُ ‫ﺴﻨﱠﺘِﻲ َو‬ ُ ِ‫ﺑ‬
matters [in the religion], for verily every bidah (innovation) is
misguidance.”
‫ت ْاﻷُﻣُﻮرِ؛ ﻓَﺈِنﱠ ُﻛ ﱠﻞ‬ ِ ‫ َوإِﯾﱠﺎ ُﻛ ْﻢ َوﻣُﺤْ َﺪﺛَﺎ‬،ِ‫َﻋﻠَ ْﯿﮭَﺎ ﺑِﺎﻟﻨﱠﻮَاﺟِ ﺬ‬
."ٌ‫ﺑِ ْﺪ َﻋ ٍﺔ ﺿ ََﻼﻟَﺔ‬

 Hadith - 29
On the authority of Muadh bin Jabal (ُ‫ )رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫ‬who said: ٍ‫ﷲِ! أَﺧْ ﺒِﺮْ ﻧِﻲ ﺑِ َﻌﻤَﻞ‬ ‫ ﻗُﻠْﺖ ﯾَﺎ َرﺳُﻮ َل ﱠ‬:َ‫ﻋَﻦْ ُﻣﻌَﺎ ِذ ﺑْﻦِ َﺟﺒَﻞٍ رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫُ ﻗَﺎل‬
I said, “O Messenger of Allah, tell me of an act which will take me into Paradise
and will keep me away from the Hellfire.” He ‫ ﷺ‬said, “You have asked me
ُ‫ َوإِﻧﱠﮫ‬، ٍ‫ﺳﺄَﻟْﺖ ﻋَﻦْ ﻋَﻈِ ﯿﻢ‬ َ ‫ "ﻟَﻘَ ْﺪ‬:َ‫ ﻗَﺎل‬،ِ‫ﯾُﺪْﺧِ ﻠُﻨِﻲ اﻟْﺠَ ﻨﱠﺔَ َوﯾُﺒَﺎ ِﻋ ْﺪﻧِﻲ ﻣِﻦْ اﻟﻨﱠﺎر‬
about a great matter, yet it is easy for him for whom Allah makes it easy: worship ‫ َوﺗُﻘِﯿ ُﻢ‬،‫ﺷ ْﯿﺌًﺎ‬
َ ‫ﺸﺮِكْ ﺑِ ِﮫ‬ ْ ُ‫ﷲَ َﻻ ﺗ‬ ‫ ﺗَ ْﻌﺒُ ُﺪ ﱠ‬:ِ‫ﷲُ َﻋﻠَ ْﯿﮫ‬‫ﺴ َﺮهُ ﱠ‬ ‫ﻟَﯿَﺴِ ﯿ ٌﺮ َﻋﻠَﻰ ﻣَﻦْ ﯾَ ﱠ‬
Allah, without associating any partners with Him; establish the prayer; pay the ‫ أ ََﻻ أَ ُدﻟﱡﻚ‬:َ‫ ﺛُ ﱠﻢ ﻗَﺎل‬، َ‫ َوﺗَﺤُ ﺞﱡ ا ْﻟﺒَﯿْﺖ‬، َ‫ َوﺗَﺼُﻮ ُم َر َﻣﻀَﺎن‬،َ‫ َوﺗُﺆْ ﺗِﻲ اﻟ ﱠﺰﻛَﺎة‬،َ‫اﻟﺼ َﱠﻼة‬
zakat; fast in Ramadhan; and make the pilgrimage to the House.” Then
he‫ﷺ‬said, “Shall I not guide you towards the means of goodness? Fasting is a ‫ﺼ َﺪﻗَﺔُ ﺗُ ْﻄﻔِ ُﺊ اﻟْﺨَ ﻄِ ﯿﺌَﺔَ َﻛﻤَﺎ ﯾُ ْﻄﻔِ ُﺊ ا ْﻟﻤَﺎ ُء‬ ‫ وَاﻟ ﱠ‬،ٌ‫ب اﻟْﺨَ ْﯿﺮِ؟ اﻟﺼﱠﻮْ ُم ﺟُ ﻨﱠﺔ‬ ِ ‫َﻋﻠَﻰ أَ ْﺑﻮَا‬
shield; charity wipes away sin as water extinguishes fire; and the praying of a man ِ‫ " ﺗَﺘَﺠَ ﺎﻓَﻰ ﺟُ ﻨُﻮﺑُ ُﮭ ْﻢ ﻋَﻦ‬:‫ ﺛُ ﱠﻢ ﺗ ََﻼ‬، ِ‫ َوﺻ ََﻼةُ اﻟ ﱠﺮﺟُﻞِ ﻓِﻲ ﺟَ ﻮْ فِ اﻟﻠﱠﯿْﻞ‬،‫اﻟﻨﱠﺎ َر‬
in the depths of the night.” Then he‫ﷺ‬recited: “[Those] who forsake their beds,
17 ‫ و‬16 : ‫ اﻷﯾﺘﺎن‬/ ‫ ﺳﻮرة اﻟﺴﺠﺪة‬32 ]،" َ‫ا ْﻟ َﻤﻀَﺎﺟِ ِﻊ " َﺣﺘﱠﻰ ﺑَﻠَ َﻎ "ﯾَ ْﻌ َﻤﻠُﻮن‬
to invoke their Lord in fear and hope, and they spend (charity in Allah’s cause) out of
what We have bestowed on them. No person knows what is kept hidden for them of ‫ ﺑَﻠَﻰ ﯾَﺎ‬:‫ﺳﻨَﺎ ِﻣﮫِ؟ ﻗُﻠْﺖ‬ َ ‫س ْاﻷَ ْﻣ ِﺮ َو َﻋﻤُﻮ ِد ِه َوذُرْ َو ِة‬ ِ ‫ أ ََﻻ أُﺧْ ﺒِﺮُك ﺑِ َﺮ ْأ‬:َ‫[ ﺛُ ﱠﻢ ﻗَﺎل‬
joy as a reward for what they used to do.” [as-Sajdah, 16-17] Then he‫ﷺ‬said, “Shall I ‫ﺳﻨَﺎ ِﻣ ِﮫ‬ َ ُ‫ َوذُرْ َوة‬،ُ‫ َو َﻋﻤُﻮ ُدهُ اﻟﺼ َﱠﻼة‬،ُ‫اﻹﺳ َْﻼم‬ ِ ْ ‫ َرأْسُ ْاﻷَ ْﻣ ِﺮ‬:َ‫ ﻗَﺎل‬.ِ‫ﷲ‬ ‫َرﺳُﻮ َل ﱠ‬
not inform you of the head of the matter, its pillar and its peak?” I said, “Yes, O
Messenger of Allah.” He ‫ﷺ‬said, “The head of the matter is Islam, its pillar is the
! ِ‫ﷲ‬ ‫ ﺑَﻠَﻰ ﯾَﺎ َرﺳُﻮ َل ﱠ‬:‫ﻚ ُﻛﻠﱢﮫِ؟ ﻓﻘُﻠْﺖ‬ َ ِ‫ أ ََﻻ أُﺧْ ﺒِﺮُك ﺑِﻤ ََﻼكِ َذﻟ‬:َ‫ ﺛُ ﱠﻢ ﻗَﺎل‬،ُ‫اﻟْﺠِ ﮭَﺎد‬
prayer and its peak is jihad.” Then he ‫ﷺ‬said, “Shall I not tell you of the ‫ﷲِ َوإِﻧﱠﺎ ﻟَ ُﻤﺆَاﺧَ ﺬُونَ ﺑِﻤَﺎ‬ ‫ﻲ ﱠ‬ ‫ ﯾَﺎ ﻧَﺒِ ﱠ‬:‫ ﻗُﻠْﺖ‬.‫ ﻛُﻒﱠ َﻋﻠَﯿْﻚ َھﺬَا‬:َ‫ﻓَﺄ َﺧَ َﺬ ﺑِﻠِﺴَﺎﻧِ ِﮫ َوﻗَﺎل‬
foundation of all of that?” I said, “Yes, O Messenger of Allah.” So he took hold of ‫أَوْ ﻗَﺎ َل َﻋﻠَﻰ‬- ‫ ﺛَ ِﻜﻠَﺘْﻚ أُﻣﱡﻚ َوھَﻞْ ﯾَﻜُﺐﱡ اﻟﻨﱠﺎسَ َﻋﻠَﻰ ُوﺟُﻮ ِھ ِﮭ ْﻢ‬:َ‫ﻧَﺘَ َﻜﻠﱠ ُﻢ ﺑِﮫِ؟ ﻓَﻘَﺎل‬
his tongue and said, “Restrain this.” I said, “O Prophet of Allah, will we be taken
to account for what we say with it?” He‫ﷺ‬said, “May your mother be bereaved . "!‫ ﱠإﻻ ﺣَ ﺼَﺎﺋِ ُﺪ أَﻟْﺴِ ﻨَﺘِ ِﮭﻢْ؟‬-ْ‫َﻣﻨَﺎﺧِ ِﺮ ِھﻢ‬
of you, O Muadh! Is there anything that throws people into the Hellfire upon their
faces — or: on their noses — except the harvests of their tongues?”

 Hadith - 30
On the authority of Abu Tha’labah al-Kushanee — ‫ﻋَﻦْ أَﺑِﻲ ﺛَ ْﻌﻠَﺒَﺔَ ا ْﻟ ُﺨ َﺸﻨِﻲﱢ ﺟُﺮْ ﺛُﻮمِ ﺑﻦ ﻧَﺎﺷِ ﺮ‬
Jurthoom bin Nashir (ُ‫— )رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫ‬
that the Messenger of Allah ‫ﷺ‬said:
ُ‫رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫ‬
Verily Allah ta’ala has laid down religious
obligations (fara’id), so do not neglect them;
ِ‫ﻋَﻦْ َرﺳُﻮل‬
and He‫ﺪُودًا‬has ،‫ﻌُﻮھَﺎ‬so‫ﻀﯿﱢ‬
ُ‫ ﱠﺪ ﺣ‬setَ‫وَﺣ‬limits, َ doُ‫ ﺗ‬not
‫ ﻓ ََﻼ‬overstep
َ‫ ﻓَﺮَاﺋِﺾ‬them;
َ‫ﻓَﺮَض‬ ‫ﷲَ ﺗَﻌَﺎﻟَﻰ‬‫ "إنﱠ ﱠ‬:‫ا ﱠ ِ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ ﻗَﺎل‬
and He has forbidden some things, so do not ،‫ﺷﯿَﺎ َء ﻓ ََﻼ ﺗَ ْﻨﺘَ ِﮭﻜُﻮھَﺎ‬ ْ َ‫ وَﺣَ ﱠﺮ َم أ‬،‫ﻓ ََﻼ ﺗَ ْﻌﺘَﺪُوھَﺎ‬
violate them; and He has remained silent about
some things, out of compassion for you, not ٍ‫ﺴﯿَﺎن‬ْ ِ‫ﺷﯿَﺎ َء رَﺣْ َﻤﺔً ﻟَ ُﻜ ْﻢ َﻏ ْﯿ َﺮ ﻧ‬ ْ َ‫ﺳﻜَﺖَ ﻋَﻦْ أ‬ َ ‫َو‬
forgetfulness — so do not seek after them. ."‫ﻓ ََﻼ ﺗَﺒْﺤَ ﺜُﻮا َﻋ ْﻨﮭَﺎ‬

 Hadith - 31
On the authority of Abu al-’Abbas Sahl bin ‫ي‬
ّ ‫س َﺳﮭْﻞِ ﺑْﻦِ َﺳ ْﻌ ٍﺪ اﻟﺴﱠﺎ ِﻋ ِﺪ‬ِ ‫ﻋَﻦْ أَﺑِﻲ ا ْﻟ َﻌﺒﱠﺎ‬
Sa’ad as-Sa’idee(ُ‫ )رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫ‬who said:
A man came to the Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬and said, “O
:َ‫رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫُ ﻗَﺎل‬
Messenger of Allah, direct me to an act which, ‫ﺟَﺎ َء َر ُﺟ ٌﻞ إﻟَﻰ اﻟﻨﱠﺒِﻲﱢ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و‬
if I do it, [will cause] Allah to love me and the
people to love me.” So he ‫ ﷺ‬said, ٍ‫ ﯾَﺎ َرﺳُﻮ َل ﷲِ! ُدﻟﱠﻨِﻲ َﻋﻠَﻰ َﻋﻤَﻞ‬:َ‫ﺳﻠﻢ ﻓَﻘَﺎل‬
“Renounce the world and Allah will love ‫إذَا َﻋ ِﻤ ْﻠﺘُﮫُ أَﺣَ ﺒﱠﻨِﻲ ﷲُ َوأَ َﺣﺒﱠﻨِﻲ اﻟﻨﱠﺎسُ ؛‬
you, and renounce what the people possess
‫ وَازْ َھ ْﺪ‬،ُ‫ "ازْ َھ ْﺪ ﻓِﻲ اﻟ ﱡﺪ ْﻧﯿَﺎ ﯾُﺤِ ﺒﱠﻚ ﷲ‬:َ‫ﻓَﻘَﺎل‬
and the people will love you.”
. " ُ‫س ﯾُﺤِ ﺒﱠﻚ اﻟﻨﱠﺎس‬ِ ‫ﻓِﯿﻤَﺎ ِﻋ ْﻨ َﺪ اﻟﻨﱠﺎ‬

 Hadith - 32
On the authority of Abu Sa’eed al-Khudree ٍ‫ﻋَﻦْ أَﺑِﻲ َﺳﻌِﯿ ٍﺪ َﺳ ْﻌ ِﺪ ﺑْﻦِ ﻣَﺎﻟِﻚِ ﺑْﻦِ ﺳِ ﻨَﺎن‬
(ُ‫)رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫ‬,
ُ‫ي رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫ‬ ّ ‫ا ْﻟ ُﺨ ْﺪ ِر‬
that the Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬said: There
‫أَنﱠ َرﺳُﻮ َل‬
should be neither harming (darar) nor
reciprocating harm (dirar). َ ‫ " َﻻ‬:َ‫ﷲِ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ ﻗَﺎل‬
‫ﺿ َﺮ َر‬ ‫ﱠ‬
.. "َ‫و ََﻻ ﺿِ ﺮَار‬

 Hadith - 33
On the authority of Ibn Abbas (ُ‫)رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫ‬, that ‫ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮭُﻤَﺎ‬
‫س رَﺿِ َﻲ ﱠ‬
ٍ ‫ﻋَﻦْ اﺑْﻦِ َﻋﺒﱠﺎ‬
the Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬said: Were people ‫أَنﱠ َرﺳُﻮ َل‬
to be given everything that they claimed, men
‫ "ﻟَﻮْ ﯾُ ْﻌﻄَﻰ‬:َ‫ﷲِ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ ﻗَﺎل‬ ‫ﱠ‬
would [unjustly] claim the wealth and lives of
[other] people. But, the onus of proof is upon ٍ‫اﻟﻨﱠﺎسُ ﺑِ َﺪ ْﻋﻮَا ُھ ْﻢ َﻻ ﱠدﻋَﻰ رِﺟَ ﺎ ٌل أَ ْﻣﻮَا َل ﻗَﻮْ م‬
the claimant, and the taking of an oath is ،‫ ﻟَﻜِﻦﱠ ا ْﻟﺒَﯿﱢﻨَﺔَ َﻋﻠَﻰ ا ْﻟ ُﻤ ﱠﺪﻋِﻲ‬،ْ‫َو ِدﻣَﺎ َء ُھﻢ‬
upon him who denies.
"َ‫وَا ْﻟﯿَﻤِﯿﻦَ َﻋﻠَﻰ ﻣَﻦْ أَ ْﻧ َﻜﺮ‬

 Hadith - 34
On the authority of Abu Sa`eed al-Khudree(َ‫رَﺿِ ﻲ‬ ‫ي رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫُ ﻗَﺎ َل‬
ّ ‫ﻋَﻦْ أَﺑِﻲ َﺳﻌِﯿ ٍﺪ ا ْﻟ ُﺨ ْﺪ ِر‬
ُ‫ )ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫ‬who said:
‫َﺳ ِﻤﻌْﺖ َرﺳُﻮ َل‬
I heard the Messenger of Allah (‫ )ﷺ‬say,
“Whosoever of you sees an evil, let him change it
‫ "ﻣَﻦْ َرأَى‬:ُ‫ﷲِ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ ﯾَﻘُﻮل‬ ‫ﱠ‬
with his hand; and if he is not able to do so, then ‫ﺴﺘَﻄِ ْﻊ‬ْ َ‫ ﻓَﺈِنْ ﻟَ ْﻢ ﯾ‬،ِ‫ِﻣ ْﻨ ُﻜ ْﻢ ُﻣ ْﻨ َﻜﺮًا ﻓَ ْﻠﯿُ َﻐﯿﱢﺮْ هُ ﺑِﯿَ ِﺪه‬
[let him change it] with his tongue; and if he is not
able to do so, then with his heart — and that is the
‫ﻚ‬َ ِ‫ َو َذﻟ‬،ِ‫ ﻓَﺈِنْ ﻟَ ْﻢ ﯾَ ْﺴﺘَﻄِ ْﻊ ﻓَﺒِﻘَ ْﻠﺒِﮫ‬،ِ‫ﻓَﺒِﻠِﺴَﺎﻧِﮫ‬
weakest of faith.” . " ِ‫اﻹﯾﻤَﺎن‬ ِ ْ ُ‫أَﺿْ ﻌَﻒ‬

 Hadith - 35
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah(ُ‫ )رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫ‬who said: :َ‫ﻋَﻦْ أَﺑِﻲ ُھ َﺮ ْﯾ َﺮةَ رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫُ ﻗَﺎل‬
The Messenger of Allah (‫ )ﷺ‬said, “Do not envy one ،‫ﺳﺪُوا‬ َ ‫ﷲِ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ " َﻻ ﺗَﺤَ ﺎ‬ ‫ﻗَﺎ َل َرﺳُﻮ ُل ﱠ‬
another, and do not inflate prices for one another, and do
not hate one another, and do not turn away from one
‫ و ََﻻ ﯾَﺒِ ْﻊ‬،‫ و ََﻻ ﺗَﺪَاﺑَﺮُوا‬،‫ و ََﻻ ﺗَﺒَﺎ َﻏﻀُﻮا‬،‫و ََﻻ ﺗَﻨَﺎﺟَ ﺸُﻮا‬
another, and do not undercut one another in trade, but ،‫ﷲِ إﺧْ ﻮَاﻧًﺎ‬‫ َوﻛُﻮﻧُﻮا ِﻋﺒَﺎ َد ﱠ‬،ٍ‫ﻀ ُﻜ ْﻢ َﻋﻠَﻰ ﺑَ ْﯿ ِﻊ ﺑَ ْﻌﺾ‬ ُ ‫ﺑَ ْﻌ‬
[rather] be slaves of Allah and brothers [amongst
‫ و ََﻻ‬،ُ‫ و ََﻻ ﯾَﺨْ ُﺬﻟُﮫ‬،ُ‫ َﻻ ﯾَ ْﻈﻠِ ُﻤﮫ‬، ِ‫ﺴﻠِﻢ‬ْ ‫ﺴﻠِ ُﻢ أَﺧُ ﻮ ا ْﻟ ُﻤ‬ْ ‫ا ْﻟ ُﻤ‬
yourselves]. A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim: he does
not oppress him, nor does he fail him, nor does he lie to ‫ﺻ ْﺪ ِر ِه‬ َ ‫ َوﯾُﺸِ ﯿ ُﺮ إﻟَﻰ‬،‫ اﻟﺘﱠ ْﻘﻮَى ھَﺎ ُھﻨَﺎ‬،ُ‫ و ََﻻ ﯾَﺤْ ﻘِ ُﺮه‬،ُ‫ﯾَ ْﻜ ِﺬﺑُﮫ‬
him, nor does he hold him in contempt. Taqwa (piety) is ُ‫ﺸ ﱢﺮ أَنْ ﯾَﺤْ ﻘِ َﺮ أَﺧَ ﺎه‬‫ﺐ ا ْﻣﺮِئٍ ﻣِﻦْ اﻟ ﱠ‬ ِ ‫ﺴ‬ ْ َ‫ ﺑِﺤ‬،ٍ‫ﺛ ََﻼثَ َﻣﺮﱠات‬
right here [and he pointed to his chest three times]. It is
evil enough for a man to hold his brother Muslim in ُ‫ َد ُﻣﮫُ َوﻣَﺎﻟُﮫ‬:ٌ‫ﺴﻠِﻢِ ﺣَ ﺮَام‬ ْ ‫ﺴﻠِﻢِ َﻋﻠَﻰ ا ْﻟ ُﻤ‬ ْ ‫ ُﻛ ﱡﻞ ا ْﻟ ُﻤ‬،َ‫ﺴﻠِﻢ‬
ْ ‫ا ْﻟ ُﻤ‬
contempt. The whole of a Muslim is inviolable for another . "ُ‫ﺿﮫ‬ ُ ْ‫َوﻋِﺮ‬
Muslim: his blood, his property, and his honour.”

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (ُ‫)رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫ‬, that ‫ﻋَﻦْ أَﺑِﻲ ھُ َﺮ ْﯾ َﺮةَ رَﺿِ َﻲ‬
:َ‫ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫُ ﻋَﻦْ اﻟﻨﱠﺒِ ﱢﻲ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ ﻗَﺎل‬
the Prophet (‫)ﷺ‬said: Whoever removes a worldly grief from a believer,
Allah will remove from him one of the griefs of the Day of Resurrection. And
ْ‫ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫُ ﻛُﺮْ ﺑَﺔً ﻣِﻦ‬ ‫ب اﻟ ﱡﺪ ْﻧﯿَﺎ ﻧَﻔﱠﺲَ ﱠ‬ ِ ‫"ﻣَﻦْ ﻧَﻔﱠﺲَ ﻋَﻦْ ﻣُﺆْ ﻣِﻦٍ ﻛُﺮْ ﺑَﺔً ﻣِﻦْ ُﻛ َﺮ‬
whoever alleviates the need of a needy person, Allah will alleviate his needs in
this world and the Hereafter. Whoever shields [or hides the misdeeds of] a ‫ﷲُ َﻋﻠَ ْﯿ ِﮫ ﻓِﻲ اﻟ ﱡﺪ ْﻧﯿَﺎ‬‫ ﯾَ ﱠﺴ َﺮ ﱠ‬،ٍ‫ َوﻣَﻦْ ﯾَ ﱠﺴ َﺮ َﻋﻠَﻰ ُﻣﻌْﺴِ ﺮ‬،ِ‫ب ﯾَﻮْ مِ ا ْﻟﻘِﯿَﺎ َﻣﺔ‬ ِ ‫ُﻛ َﺮ‬
Muslim, Allah will shield him in this world and the Hereafter. And Allah will ‫َﷲُ ﻓِﻲ‬ ‫ و َ ﱠ‬، ‫َاﻵﺧِ َﺮ ِة‬ ْ ‫ َوﻣَﻦْ َﺳﺘَ َﺮ ُﻣ ْﺴﻠِﻤﺎ َﺳﺘَ َﺮهُ ﷲُ ﻓِﻲ اﻟ ﱡﺪ ْﻧﯿَﺎ و‬،ِ‫َاﻵﺧِ َﺮة‬ ْ ‫و‬
aid His slave so long as he aids his brother. And whoever follows a path to
seek knowledge therein, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise. No
ُ‫ﻚ طَﺮِﯾﻘًﺎ ﯾَ ْﻠﺘَﻤِﺲ‬ َ َ‫ َوﻣَﻦْ َﺳﻠ‬،ِ‫ﻋَﻮْ نِ ا ْﻟ َﻌ ْﺒ ِﺪ ﻣَﺎ ﻛَﺎنَ ا ْﻟ َﻌ ْﺒ ُﺪ ﻓِﻲ ﻋَﻮْ نِ أَﺧِ ﯿﮫ‬
people gather together in one of the Houses of Allah, reciting the Book of ‫ﺖ‬
ٍ ‫ َوﻣَﺎ اﺟْ ﺘَ َﻤ َﻊ ﻗَﻮْ ٌم ﻓِﻲ ﺑَ ْﯿ‬،ِ‫ﷲُ ﻟَﮫُ ﺑِ ِﮫ طَﺮِﯾﻘًﺎ إﻟَﻰ ا ْﻟ َﺠﻨﱠﺔ‬ ‫ﻓِﯿ ِﮫ ِﻋ ْﻠﻤًﺎ َﺳﮭﱠ َﻞ ﱠ‬
Allah and studying it among themselves, except that sakeenah (tranquility) ْ‫ َوﯾَﺘَﺪَا َرﺳُﻮﻧَﮫُ ﻓِﯿﻤَﺎ ﺑَ ْﯿﻨَﮭُﻢْ؛ ﱠإﻻ ﻧَ َﺰﻟَﺖ‬،ِ‫ﷲ‬ ‫ﷲِ ﯾَ ْﺘﻠُﻮنَ ِﻛﺘَﺎبَ ﱠ‬ ‫ت ﱠ‬ِ ‫ﻣِﻦْ ﺑُﯿُﻮ‬
descends upon them, and mercy envelops them, and the angels surround
them, and Allah mentions them amongst those who are with Him. And ُ‫ﷲ‬ ‫ َو َذ َﻛ َﺮھُ ْﻢ ﱠ‬،‫ َو َﺣﻔﱠﺘﮭُ ُﻢ اﻟ َﻤﻼَﺋِﻜَﺔ‬،ُ‫ َوﻏَﺸِ ﯿَ ْﺘﮭُ ْﻢ اﻟﺮﱠﺣْ َﻤﺔ‬،ُ‫َﻋﻠَ ْﯿ ِﮭ ْﻢ اﻟ ﱠﺴﻜِﯿﻨَﺔ‬
whoever is slowed down by his actions, will not be hastened forward by his ."ُ‫ﻄﺄ َ ﺑِ ِﮫ َﻋ َﻤﻠُﮫُ ﻟَ ْﻢ ﯾُ ْﺴ ِﺮ ْع ﺑِ ِﮫ ﻧَ َﺴﺒُﮫ‬
ْ َ‫ َوﻣَﻦْ أَﺑ‬،ُ‫ﻓِﯿﻤَﻦْ ِﻋ ْﻨ َﺪه‬
lineage.

 Hadith - 37
On the authority of Ibn Abbas (ُ‫)رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫ‬, ‫ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮭُﻤَﺎ‬
‫س رَﺿِ َﻲ ﱠ‬
ٍ ‫ﻋَﻦْ اﺑْﻦِ َﻋﺒﱠﺎ‬
from the Messenger of Allah (‫)ﷺ‬, from what he has related from his Lord:
Verily Allah ta’ala has written down the good deeds and the evil deeds, and ِ‫ﻋَﻦْ َرﺳُﻮل‬
‫ ﻓَﻤَﻦْ ھَ ﱠﻢ ﺑِﺤَﺴ‬،َ‫ ﺛُ ﱠﻢ ﺑَﯿﱠﻦَ َذﻟِﻚ‬،ِ‫ت وَاﻟ ﱠﺴﯿﱢﺌَﺎت‬
ِ ‫ﷲَ َﻛﺘَﺐَ ا ْﻟ َﺤ َﺴﻨَﺎ‬
‫ "إنﱠ ﱠ‬:َ‫ ﻗَﺎل‬،‫ك َوﺗَﻌَﺎﻟَﻰ‬
then explained it [by saying]: “Whosoever intended to perform a good deed, َ ‫ا ﱠ ِ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ ﻓِﯿﻤَﺎ ﯾَﺮْ وِﯾ ِﮫ ﻋَﻦْ َرﺑﱢ ِﮫ ﺗَﺒَﺎ َر‬
but did not do it, then Allah writes it down with Himself as a complete good
deed. And if he intended to perform it and then did perform it, then Allah ‫ت إﻟَﻰ َﺳ ْﺒ ِﻌﻤِﺎﺋَ ِﺔ‬ ٍ ‫ﷲُ ِﻋ ْﻨ َﺪهُ َﻋ ْﺸ َﺮ َﺣ َﺴﻨَﺎ‬ ‫ھَ ﱠﻢ ﺑِﮭَﺎ ﻓَ َﻌ ِﻤﻠَﮭَﺎ َﻛﺘَﺒَﮭَﺎ ﱠ‬
writes it down with Himself as from ten good deeds up to seven hundred
times, up to many times multiplied. And if he intended to perform an evil
‫ َوإِنْ ھَ ﱠﻢ ﺑِ َﺴﯿﱢﺌَ ٍﺔ ﻓَﻠَ ْﻢ ﯾَ ْﻌ َﻤ ْﻠﮭَﺎ‬،ٍ‫ﺿِ ﻌْﻒٍ إﻟَﻰ أَﺿْ ﻌَﺎفٍ َﻛﺜِﯿ َﺮة‬
deed, but did not do it, then Allah writes it down with Himself as a complete ُ‫ﷲ‬ ‫ َوإِنْ ھَ ﱠﻢ ﺑِﮭَﺎ ﻓَ َﻌ ِﻤﻠَﮭَﺎ َﻛﺘَﺒَﮭَﺎ ﱠ‬،ً‫ﷲُ ِﻋ ْﻨ َﺪهُ َﺣ َﺴﻨَﺔً ﻛَﺎ ِﻣﻠَﺔ‬ ‫َﻛﺘَﺒَﮭَﺎ ﱠ‬
good deed. And if he intended it [i.e., the evil deed] and then performed it,
then Allah writes it down as one evil deed.” ."ً‫َﺳﯿﱢﺌَﺔً وَاﺣِ َﺪة‬

 Hadith - 38
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with :َ‫ﻋَﻦْ أَﺑِﻲ ُھ َﺮ ْﯾﺮَة رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫُ ﻗَﺎل‬
him) who said:
‫ﻗَﺎ َل َرﺳُﻮل‬
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon
him) said, “Verily Allah ta’ala has said: ‘Whosoever shows ْ‫ "ﻣَﻦ‬:َ‫ﷲَ ﺗَﻌَﺎﻟَﻰ ﻗَﺎل‬ ‫ﷲِ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ إنﱠ ﱠ‬ ‫ﱠ‬
enmity to a wali (friend) of Mine, then I have declared war ‫ َوﻣَﺎ ﺗَﻘَﺮﱠبَ إﻟَ ﱠﻲ َﻋ ْﺒﺪِي‬،ِ‫ﻋَﺎدَى ﻟِﻲ َوﻟِﯿًّﺎ ﻓَﻘْﺪ آ َذﻧْﺘﮫُ ﺑِﺎﻟْﺤَ ﺮْ ب‬
against him. And My servant does not draw near to Me with
anything more loved to Me than the religious duties I have
‫ و ََﻻ ﯾَﺰَا ُل َﻋ ْﺒﺪِي‬،ِ‫ﺑِﺸَﻲْ ٍء أَﺣَ ﺐﱠ إﻟَ ﱠﻲ ِﻣﻤﱠﺎ ا ْﻓﺘَﺮَﺿْ ﺘُﮫُ َﻋﻠَ ْﯿﮫ‬
obligated upon him. And My servant continues to draw near to ُ‫ﺳ ْﻤ َﻌﮫ‬
َ ‫ ﻓَﺈِذَا أَﺣْ ﺒَ ْﺒﺘُﮫُ ُﻛﻨْﺖ‬،ُ‫ﯾَﺘَﻘَﺮﱠبُ إﻟَ ﱠﻲ ﺑِﺎﻟﻨﱠﻮَاﻓِﻞِ ﺣَ ﺘﱠﻰ أُﺣِ ﺒﱠﮫ‬
me with nafil (supererogatory) deeds until I Love him. When I
‫ َوﯾَ َﺪهُ اﻟﱠﺘِﻲ‬،ِ‫ﺼ َﺮهُ اﻟﱠﺬِي ﯾُﺒْﺼِ ُﺮ ﺑِﮫ‬ َ َ‫ َوﺑ‬،ِ‫ﺴ َﻤ ُﻊ ﺑِﮫ‬ْ َ‫اﻟﱠﺬِي ﯾ‬
Love him, I am his hearing with which he hears, and his sight
with which he sees, and his hand with which he strikes, and ‫ﺳﺄَﻟَﻨِﻲ‬َ ْ‫ َوﻟَﺌِﻦ‬،‫ َورِﺟْ ﻠَﮫُ اﻟﱠﺘِﻲ ﯾَﻤْﺸِ ﻲ ﺑِﮭَﺎ‬،‫ﯾَﺒْﻄِ ﺶُ ﺑِﮭَﺎ‬
his foot with which he walks. Were he to ask [something] of ."ُ‫ﺳﺘَﻌَﺎ َذﻧِﻲ َﻷُﻋِﯿ َﺬﻧﱠﮫ‬ْ ‫ َوﻟَﺌِﻦْ ا‬،ُ‫َﻷُﻋْﻄِ ﯿَﻨﱠﮫ‬
Me, I would surely give it to him; and were he to seek refuge
with Me, I would surely grant him refuge.’ ”

 Hadith - 39
On the authority of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be ‫ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨ ُﮭﻤَﺎ‬
‫س رَﺿِ َﻲ ﱠ‬
ٍ ‫ﻋَﻦْ اﺑْﻦِ َﻋﺒﱠﺎ‬
pleased with him), that the Messenger of
Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon ‫أَنﱠ َرﺳُﻮ َل‬
him) said:
َ‫ﷲ‬‫ "إنﱠ ﱠ‬:َ‫ﷲِ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ ﻗَﺎل‬ ‫ﱠ‬
Verily Allah has pardoned [or been lenient ‫ﺴﯿَﺎنَ َوﻣَﺎ‬
ْ ‫ﺗَﺠَ ﺎ َو َز ﻟِﻲ ﻋَﻦْ أُ ﱠﻣﺘِﻲ اﻟْﺨَ ﻄَﺄ َ وَاﻟﻨﱢ‬
with] for me my ummah: their mistakes, their . "ِ‫ﺳﺘُ ْﻜ ِﺮھُﻮا َﻋﻠَ ْﯿﮫ‬
ْ ‫ا‬
forgetfulness, and that which they have been
forced to do under duress.

 Hadith - 40
On the authority of Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah :َ‫ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨ ُﮭﻤَﺎ ﻗَﺎل‬
‫ﻋَﻦْ اﺑْﻦ ُﻋ َﻤ َﺮ رَﺿِ َﻲ ﱠ‬
be pleased with him), who said:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of ،‫ﷲِ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ ﺑِ َﻤ ْﻨ ِﻜﺒِﻲ‬ ‫أَﺧَ َﺬ َرﺳُﻮ ُل ﱠ‬
Allah be upon him) took me by the shoulder and
said, “Be in this world as though you were a stranger ‫ "ﻛُﻦْ ﻓِﻲ اﻟ ﱡﺪ ْﻧﯿَﺎ َﻛﺄَﻧﱠﻚ َﻏﺮِﯾﺐٌ أَوْ ﻋَﺎﺑِ ُﺮ‬:َ‫َوﻗَﺎل‬
or a wayfarer.” And Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased ‫ َوﻛَﺎنَ اﺑْﻦُ ُﻋ َﻤ َﺮ رَﺿِ َﻲ‬." ٍ‫ﺳﺒِﯿﻞ‬ َ
with him) used to say, “In the evening do not expect
[to live until] the morning, and in the morning do
ْ‫ﺴﯿْﺖَ ﻓ ََﻼ ﺗَ ْﻨﺘَﻈِ ﺮ‬َ ‫ إذَا أَ ْﻣ‬:ُ‫ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨ ُﮭﻤَﺎ ﯾَﻘُﻮل‬‫ﱠ‬
not expect [to live until] the evening. Take ،َ‫ َوإِذَا أَﺻْ ﺒَﺤْ ﺖَ ﻓ ََﻼ ﺗَ ْﻨﺘَﻈِ ﺮْ ا ْﻟ َﻤﺴَﺎء‬، َ‫ﺼﺒَﺎح‬ ‫اﻟ ﱠ‬
[advantage of] your health before times of sickness,
and [take advantage of] your life before your death.”
‫ َوﻣِﻦْ ﺣَ ﯿَﺎﺗِﻚ‬،‫وَﺧُ ْﺬ ﻣِﻦْ ﺻِ ﺤﱠ ﺘِﻚ ﻟِ َﻤﺮَﺿِ ﻚ‬
.‫ﻟِﻤَﻮْ ﺗِﻚ‬

 Hadith - 41
On the authority of Abu Muhammad Abdullah bin ‫ﻋَﻦْ أَﺑِﻲ ُﻣ َﺤ ﱠﻤ ٍﺪ َﻋ ْﺒ ِﺪ‬
’Amr bin al-’Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) who
said: :َ‫ﻗَﺎل‬ ،‫ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮭُﻤَﺎ‬
‫ص رَﺿِ َﻲ ﱠ‬
ِ ‫ا ﱠ ِ ﺑْﻦِ َﻋ ْﻤﺮِو ﺑْﻦِ ا ْﻟﻌَﺎ‬

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah

‫"ﻻ‬َ ‫ﷲِ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ‬ ‫ﻗَﺎ َل َرﺳُﻮ ُل ﱠ‬
be upon him) said, “None of you [truly] believes until ُ‫ﯾُﺆْ ﻣِﻦُ أَ َﺣ ُﺪ ُﻛ ْﻢ َﺣﺘﱠﻰ ﯾَﻜُﻮنَ ھَﻮَاهُ ﺗَﺒَﻌًﺎ ﻟِﻤَﺎ ﺟِ ﺌْﺖ‬
his desires are subservient to that which I have
brought.”
."ِ‫ﺑِﮫ‬

 Hadith - 42
On the authority of Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) :َ‫ﺲ ﺑْﻦِ ﻣَﺎﻟِﻚٍ رَﺿِ َﻲ ﷲُ َﻋ ْﻨﮫُ ﻗَﺎل‬
ِ َ‫ﻋَﻦْ أَﻧ‬
who said:
‫َﺳ ِﻤﻌْﺖ َرﺳُﻮ َل‬
I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah
‫َﻰ ﻣَﺎ ﻛَﺎن‬be‫ َﻋﻠ‬upon
‫ ﻟَﻚ‬him)
ُ‫ﻔَﺮْ ت‬say,
‫“ِﻲ َﻏ‬Allah
‫ﺟَﻮْ ﺗﻨ‬the
‫ َو َر‬Almighty
‫ َدﻋَﻮْ ﺗﻨِﻲ‬has‫ﻣَﺎ‬said:
‫ﻚ‬
َ ‫‘إِﻧﱠ‬O!َ‫م‬Son
‫ْﻦَ آ َد‬of‫ "ﯾَﺎ اﺑ‬:‫ﷲُ ﺗَﻌَﺎﻟَﻰ‬ ‫ ﻗَﺎ َل ﱠ‬:ُ‫ا ﱠ ِ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯿﮫ و ﺳﻠﻢ ﯾَﻘُﻮل‬
Adam, as long as you invoke Me and ask of Me, I shall ‫ ﯾَﺎ اﺑْﻦَ آ َدمَ! ﻟَﻮْ ﺑَﻠَﻐَﺖْ ُذﻧُﻮﺑُﻚ‬،‫ِﻣﻨْﻚ و ََﻻ أُﺑَﺎﻟِﻲ‬
forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O
Son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky َ‫ ﯾَﺎ اﺑْﻦ‬،‫َﻋﻨَﺎنَ اﻟ ﱠﺴﻤَﺎ ِء ﺛُ ﱠﻢ ا ْﺳﺘَ ْﻐﻔَﺮْ ﺗﻨِﻲ َﻏﻔَﺮْ تُ ﻟَﻚ‬
and you then asked forgiveness from Me, I would forgive ‫ض َﺧﻄَﺎﯾَﺎ ﺛُ ﱠﻢ‬ ِ ْ‫ب ْاﻷَر‬ ِ ‫آ َدمَ! إﻧﱠﻚ ﻟَﻮْ أﺗَﯿْﺘﻨِﻲ ﺑِﻘُﺮَا‬
you. O Son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins
nearly as great as the Earth, and were you then to face Me, "ً‫ﺮة‬ َ ِ‫ك ﺑِﻲ َﺷ ْﯿﺌًﺎ َﻷَﺗَ ْﯿﺘُﻚ ﺑِﻘُﺮَاﺑِﮭَﺎ َﻣ ْﻐﻔ‬
ُ ‫ﻟَﻘِﯿﺘﻨِﻲ َﻻ ﺗُ ْﺸ ِﺮ‬
ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness .
nearly as great as it [too].’
