TYPE OF LESSON: focused on communicating new information
LESSON TITLE: ”It’s how you tell it”. Reading 1: Multiple choice
SKILLS INVOLVED: reading; speaking; writing
TIME: 50 minutes

COMPETENCES:
- to express their opinions about listening and reading stories (to define
the term “story”)
- to read the text in order to find the main ideas (skimming)
- to read for specific information (scanning)
- to discuss about novels and the way in which they will change in the
future.
FUNDAMENTAL INSTRUCTIONAL AIMS:
-to provide oral practice and to encourage conversation based on an assigned
topic;
-to encourage the students to look for information and bring their own
arguments to support their answers;
-to stimulate conversation, to create interest in the topic and to initiate
discussion;
-to give the students a chance to practise their speaking, reading and writing
skills;
-to enrich vocabulary.

OPERATIONAL AIMS:
- to get students talking about the stories;
- to give practice in reading techniques (skimming; scanning)
- to give practice in expressing personal opinion

ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS:
- Some students may not understand the meaning of all the words in the text
while reading and they may need extra explanations in order to do the task;
- Some students may be reluctant to speak and express their own points of view.

the text.
