CONTENT AND CONTEXTUAL ANALYSIS: The First Voyage Around the World by

Magellan by Antonio Pigafetta

1. When we discussed the assigned document, we had different ideas and

observations of how this document affects our present. We symbolize this artifact as
motivation to explore more in this world like Ferdinand Magellan. Ferdinand
Magellan’s expedition is described in “The First Voyage Around the World” by
Antonio Pigafetta, which follows their journey from Spain in 1519 to their return in
1522 (except for Magellan). The first circumnavigation of the Earth is eventually
completed, and Pigafetta’s narrative includes accounts of interactions with native
peoples, observations of new places and civilizations, and challenges encountered
during the journey. He sheds light on the historical expedition’s numerous incidents,
geographical features, and sailing difficulties. The business, led by adventurer
Ferdinand Magellan, set out to reach the Spice Islands of Maluku, an Indonesian
archipelago, to establish a new trade route for Spain.

2. The sources of the written documentary (journal) are the experiences and
observations (primary sources) of Antonio Pigafetta during the great sea expedition
led by Ferdinand Magellan and his crews in search of the spice islands. The account
of Pigafetta is a handy resource for understanding the accomplishments of Magellan
for the reason of his direct observations and detailed recordings of the happenings
during the adventure. In short, Antonio Pigafetta serves as the primary source of that
expedition.

3. The document “The First Voyage Around the World” was authored by Antonio
Pigafetta, he was an Italian explorer who assisted Ferdinand Magellan on his historic
expedition around the world.

4. The context of the production of “A Brief Summary of the First Voyage Around
the World” by Antonio Pigafetta was the historic circulate of the globe led by
Ferdinand Magellan from 1519 to 1522. Pigafetta, an Italian scholar and explorer,
was part of Magellan’s expedition (he was an assistant). His journal served as a
primary source account of the voyage, documenting the challenges, discoveries, and
encounters with indigenous peoples along the way. Pigafetta’s primary goal was to
record the expedition’s experiences and findings, providing valuable information for
future explorers and cartographers. The document was produced during the journey
itself and completed upon the expedition’s return to Spain, offering a detailed
narrative of one of the most significant maritime expeditions in history. Additionally,
Christianity can still take place a long time ago because of Ferdinand Magellan (he
wanted Filipinos to turn to Christianity), especially here in the Philippines, specifically
in Cebu City.
