2. System software is a type of software that manages the computer hardware and provides a
platform for running application software. It is responsible for managing the computer's
resources, such as memory, processing power, input/output operations, storage devices, and
network connections. While Application Software is software that is designed to perform
specific tasks for end-users. It includes word processors, spreadsheet programs, database
management systems, project management software, and games.
3. A software is a set of instructions or programs that are designed to perform specific tasks on a
computer or other electronic device. It is created using a programming language and is executed
by a computer's processor. Software can be categorized into different types based on its
functionality, such as system software, application software, utility software, driver software,
and middleware software.
4. A computer is an electronic device that can perform various tasks automatically by executing a
set of instructions called a program or software. It consists of hardware components such as a
central processing unit, memory, storage, input and output devices such as keyboard, mouse,
monitor, printer, etc. and communication interfaces such as Ethernet or Wi-Fi connectivity.
Input – this function allows users or external devices to provide data or instructions into the
computer system through input devices such as keyboards, mouse devices or scanners.
Processing – this function involves the computer's central processing unit (CPU) executing
instructions provided by the user or application software.
Output – this function displays the results of the computer's processing activities on output
devices such as monitors or printers.
Storage – this function involves storing data or instructions in storage devices such as hard
drives, flash drives or optical disks. This function allows users to access previously stored data or
instructions.
Control – this function interprets computer program instructions and transmits directions to the
other components of the computer system.
6. The operating system (OS) is a software program that manages and controls the computer's
hardware and software resources. Its primary function is to provide a user-friendly interface
between the user and the computer's underlying hardware and software. In summary, the OS is
the backbone of a computer system, managing and coordinating all the system resources to
ensure optimal performance and user experience.
