KANELBULLE
Made from lightly sweetened, leavened bread dough known as vetebröd (wheat bread),
they can also be flavored with cardamom, saffron, and vanilla.
A kanelbulle is best served for a fika
o Fika – “Coffee and cake break” - the daily practice of sitting down
with a coffee and something sweet.
PRINSESSTÅRTA
The cake was originally called grön tårta (green cake), but was given the name
prinsesstårta or "princess cake" because the princesses were said to have been
especially fond of the cake.
It is a traditional Swedish layer cake or torte consisting of alternating layers of
airy sponge cake, pastry cream, raspberry jam and a thick-domed layer of
whipped cream. The cake is covered by a layer of marzipan, giving it a smooth
rounded top.
Prinsesstårta are reserved for birthdays and other celebrations.
