ABSTRACT
Learning styles is widely used to describe how learners gather, sift through,
interpret, organize, come to conclusions about, and “store” information for further use. It
speaks to the understanding that every student learns differently. Technically, an
individual’s learning style refers to the preferential way in which the student absorbs,
processes, comprehends and retains information. Academic engagement is an indicator
that combined academic identification (which refers to getting along with teachers,
having an interest in the subject matter, and related behaviors and attitudes) and academic
participation (which captures the student's work effort both inside and outside of school,
including hours spent on homework, meeting deadlines, not skipping classes, and so on).
The overall purpose of this study is to identify the different learning styles that Grade 12
Senior High School students in Our Lady of Lourdes College Foundation used in their
learning before and during the pandemic. And also, the Academic Engagement of the
respondents before and during the pandemic. The research design used in this study is
descriptive research design as it aims to accurately describe a certain situation or
phenomenon. The findings of this study showed that verbal and visual learning styles are
the most used learning style by the grade 12 students. And most of the students are
actively participating in their study before the pandemic but during the pandemic some of
them failed to meet the deadline of requirements.
