Transformative Learning Project

Call-to-Action

Genetic links and lifestyle choices both play apart in our health and well-being. Taking the time
to learn about each of these and developing an action plan to prevent diseases is personal
responsibility to be considered. Genetics holds the gun and lifestyle pulls the trigger on some
diseases.
A family health tree is a diagram of your family’s health history over several generations; and
can provide important clues to the genes you have inherited from your parents, grandparents, and
ancestors. It can also give you an opportunity to think about the context in which your family
members lived and how that may have impacted their health.
Lifestyle behaviors, such as eating habits, exercise routine, sleep scheduling, health screenings,
relationship evaluations and emotional health care, are choices that play a part in our lifelong
health and well-being.
