Alternative Site Analysis
The estimated land for the project proposal is around 1481.48 acre. The site at village
Bada is considered favourable based on the environmental and logistic advantages over
other four sites. The merit of the selected site is as follows:
Availability of adequate and continuous land parcel for setting up of soda
ash, Bicarbonate plant, captive Cogeneration power plant, establishing sea
water/ effluent disposal facilities along with other essential associated
facilities. The land is comprised of Government land /Sarkarshree/ and
private unirrigated agricultural land.
No notified ecologically sensitive area within radius of 10 km.
No mangroves vegetation near the project site coastline/estuary.
Sparsely populated surroundings, nearest village Bada has population of
2719 as per Census, 2011.
No forest land within identified project site. However for seawater intake and
outfall, pipeline will pass through adjoining forest land (outside plant
boundary). Prior to undertake any permanent nature construction activities
necessary permissions / approval shall be obtained.
Proximity to Arabian Sea.
No perennial river within the vicinity, only seasonal river ‘Vengadi’ outside
North/West boundary of plant land.
State Highway No 6 is appx. 6 km from proposed project site and easily
accessible.
Proximity to availability of raw material i.e. salt, coke, lignite, limestone etc.
Based on above merits, ‘Bada’ site has been chosen as the most suitable for
setting up of proposed Chemical Complex – Soda Ash manufacturing and
associated utilites/facilites.
