Project Objective
Objective

1 Protection of human health and the environment through the reduction of


unintentionally-produced POPs and mercury in the healthcare waste sector
promoting environmentally-sound approaches.
Project Components and Outcomes

Component 1 Policies and environmentally sound procedures
developed for the minimization of health care
Reduction of unintentionally produced wastes, focusing on the wastes generated during
POPs in the healthcare waste sector pandemic
with special reference to the current
pandemic. Environmentally sound technology for the
treatment and recycling of wastes generated during
pandemic implemented
Component 2 Management of mercury, Improved synergies to support the phaseout of Hg
mercury-added products (MAPs) and added Product (MAPs) and environmentally sound
mercury wastes in the healthcare sector management of Hg and Hg wastes
according to the Minamata Convention
on Mercury and the Philippine National Demonstrated capacity to adopt BAT/BEP for the
