Section 1: Dialogue

Please read the following dialogue between an arriving traveller and airport customs
officer at the airport in Los Angeles.

Customs officer: Good morning. Welcome to Los Angeles. May I look at your
declaration form?
Traveler: Certainly. Here you go.
Customs officer: Do you have anything to declare?
Traveler: No, nothing. Just within the normal allowance.
Customs Officer: What do you have in this suitcase?
Traveler: Clothes, personal belongings, and 2 bottles of wine.
Customs Officer: Ok, do you have anything else besides these?
Traveler: No, that’s all.
Customs Officer: Are you carrying more than ten thousand dollars?
Traveler: No.
Customs Officer: Ok, thank you. You may proceed. Have a nice stay in the United
States.
Traveler: Thank you. I am sure I will.
