A measure of the reflectivity of a surface.
Answer : Earth’s surface is warmed by the Sun through radiation. During the
day, air molecules above land and water are heated by conduction. This
process of conduction can continue even after sunset.
Answer : Streets and buildings in cities have lower albedo than grass and
water in rural areas. This means that areas with lower albedo heat up
faster and heat the air by conduction. Thus, rural areas are comparatively
cooler than urban areas.
