Locating the Scriptures
Do you know what I have come to discover? As
I observed and interacted with so many
believers, a realisation certainly wash through
my mind. It was an understanding that
believers around the world are praying. From
New York to Texas, from Colorado to
Philadelphia, from Africa to Asia, from South
America to Australia, and in every nook and
cranny of the face of the earth there are
believers lifting up their hands to God in
prayers. The Bible says every time we pray it is
being collected into a golden censer, which is
filled with the prayers of the saints. But the
problem is not the ratio of prayers, but do we
actually received answers to what we have
been praying for? If I spent hours in praying
and don’t receive any result from those hours
1
of prayers, then I have wasted my time. True
change comes in the life of a believer when we
can pray and see answers to the things we have
been praying for.
Gladly, we do not have to pray anyhow. Our
prayers should be directed at the target. What
have you been praying for? Is that thing you
have been praying for in the Bible? If you can
find that thing in the Bible then you are a step
away from seeing the answers to your prayers.
For instance, if you are trusting God for the
fruit of the womb, then you will look for
Scriptures that promises and guarantees
fruitfulness for everyone who is a child of God.
For example, the book of Exodus 23:25-26, tells
us that we should serve the Lord our God and
he will bless our bread and water none will be
sick among us and none will miscarry their
young. There will also be no barren person
among us.
Exodus 23:25-26:

2
25 And ye shall serve the
Lord your God, and he
shall bless thy bread, and
thy water; and I will take
sickness away from the
midst of thee.

26 There shall nothing

cast their young, nor be
barren, in thy land: the
number of thy days I will
fulfil.

The example under reference gives us a picture

of what we are supposed to do when we are
praying to God in other to see results. What
you are praying for is in the Bible. Even if that
thing is not specifically provided for in the
Bible, you can look for the generic Scriptures
to back up your prayers. The reason why many
3
believers aren’t seeing results since they started
their prayers as they are praying amiss. They
are just praying God to this and do that
without any Scripture to support the request.
And as they do, they return back frustrated. It
is then that you will begin to hear a lot of
complaining that God isn’t faithful. Friends,
the issue does not lie in the faithfulness of God.
The problem is that you haven’t located
Scriptures that support your prayer request.
That is perhaps the first thing you should do
even before you start praying. Look for
promises of Scriptures that cover your area of
need. Once you have located those promises of
Scripture that support your need, used them to
pray.
The Bible says we should remind God of his
promises.
Isaiah 43:26

Put me in remembrance:
let us plead together:

4
declare thou, that thou
mayest be justified.

Fulfilling conditional Scriptures in other to

get your answers immediately
Do not look for Scriptures to quote, look for
Scriptures to obey. That is perhaps one of the
strongest things I must say here before we
proceed in further discussion. Some of the
scriptural promises we see are conditional. God
will expect you to fulfil the conditions in other
to see the result and the physical manifestation
of the Scripture in your life. Even if you get the
Scriptures and don’t fulfil the conditions, your
prayers will be unfruitful.
For instance, let us take the book of Exodus
23:25-26
The Bible says and you shall serve the Lord
your God.
Look at what the Bible is saying here:
I will bless your bread (the works of your hand)

5
I will bless your water
I will take sickness far away from you
Nobody will have a miscarriage
No one shall be barren (no one among you will
be without a child)
I will satisfy you with long life and prosperity
because the number of your days shall be
fulfilled (meaning longevity)
I want you to look again at the promises
contained in the above Scripture. The
fulfilment of that Scripture above is tied to one
particular thing – Service. So any believer who
wants to see any of the benefits listed in the
Scripture above must, first of all, satisfy the
condition of service. So, if you are using the
Scriptures to in praying to see results, the first
place you must begin is at the platform of
service. There are different avenues of service.
1. You can serve God by soul-winning
2. You can also make yourself available for
service in a church department or unit.

6
3. You can serve God by intercession (see
Luke 2: 36-37)
4. You can serve God by giving direction to
others who do not know anything to do
about their lives.
These means of serving God are by no means
exhaustive. There are several channels you can
use to serve God. Beginning your prayers
without serving God and quoting the Scripture
will not give you any result. The question is,
are you serving God in any capacity? If you are
serving God in any capacity, then you can use
the Scripture and pray with it, and it will
amaze you the kind of result you will see. In
our day, believers prefer to quote Scriptures
than to do Scriptures.
Acts 1:1

The former treatise have

I made, O Theophilus, of
all that Jesus began both
to do and teach,
7
A doer of the word will be able to see faster
results from his prayer than a believer who
isn’t. Don’t be used to quoting scriptures alone.
When the Scripture provides for a condition,
fulfil the condition of that Scripture and then
use it to pray. It is because we have jettisoned
this requirement of God for the fulfilment of
Scripture that is why many are praying and not
seeing any result. The foundation of every
Scripture you quote in your prayers is the
fulfilment of that condition in that Bible verse
or passage.
I give you a further example, using the
Scripture as follows.
If you are using the book of Job 36:12 and
praying to God for financial prosperity, then
you must, first of all, fulfil the conditions
provided in the Scripture in order to see results
in your prayers.
Job 36:12

8
But if they obey not, they
shall perish by the sword,
and they shall die
without knowledge.

The two conditions provided in the Scripture

under reference are:
1. Obedience
2. Service
The usage of the Scripture in praying to see
results will be very productive if you have
fulfilled the condition mention in that verse of
the Bible. A believer must, first of all, satisfy
the requirements of service and obedience,
then apply the Scripture in his prayers.
Answers will come without wastage of time. I
won’t be surprised if I hear that you become
outrageously blessed financially after meeting
the conditions in the above-mentioned
scripture and you pray them.

Something on the Table
There are times that you have to put
something on the table if you want your
prayers to be spiritually answered. Beloved, the
truth is that God answers prayers but
sometimes you have to make a sacrifice in
order for the prayers that you have been
seeking the Lord for to be answered. The story
of Hannah in the Bible brings us an interesting
life lesson.
1 Sam 1:1-11

Now there was a certain

man of Ramathaim-
zophim, of mount
Ephraim, and his name
was Elkanah, the son of
10
Jeroham, the son of
Elihu, the son of Tohu,
the son of Zuph, an
Ephrathite:

2 And he had two wives;

the name of the one was
Hannah, and the name of
the other Peninnah: and
Peninnah had children,
but Hannah had no
children.

3 And this man went up

out of his city yearly to
worship and to sacrifice
unto the Lord of hosts in
Shiloh. And the two sons

11
of Eli, Hophni and
Phinehas, the priests of
the Lord, were there.

4 And when the time was

that Elkanah offered, he
gave to Peninnah his
wife, and to all her sons
and her daughters,
portions:

5 But unto Hannah he

gave a worthy portion;
for he loved Hannah: but
the Lord had shut up her
womb.

6 And her adversary also

provoked her sore, for to
12
make her fret, because
the Lord had shut up her
womb.

7 And as he did so year by

year, when she went up to
the house of the Lord, so
she provoked her;
therefore she wept, and
did not eat.

8 Then said Elkanah her

husband to her, Hannah,
why weepest thou? and
why eatest thou not? and
why is thy heart grieved?
am not I better to thee
than ten sons?

13
9 So Hannah rose up
after they had eaten in
Shiloh, and after they
had drunk. Now Eli the
priest sat upon a seat by
a post of the temple of
the Lord.

10 And she was in

bitterness of soul, and
prayed unto the Lord,
and wept sore.

11 And she vowed a vow,

and said, O Lord of hosts,
if thou wilt indeed look
on the affliction of thine
handmaid, and

14
remember me, and not
forget thine handmaid,
but wilt give unto thine
handmaid a man child,
then I will give him unto
the Lord all the days of
his life, and there shall no
razor come upon his
head.

Hannah has been going to Shiloh for a very

long period of time. It became customary that
everybody knew her that she was a regular face
at Shiloh. Every year, she goes there to make a
petition before the Lord. Nothing really
happened.
Many people are thinking that it was because
Hannah prayed and cried with tears that was

15
the reason why God gave her a son. But I can
tell you from Scripture that her tears didn’t
give her a baby. If you can locate a need that
heaven has and pray in that direction, I can
assure you that your prayers must be
answered. For Hannah, she had to change her
prayer request from give me a child to, if you
give me a child, Lord I will give it back to you.
For long, Israel was without a Prophet. And
God wanted a Prophet to be able to lead them
and give them his counsel in every area of life.
Hannah, on the other hand, has been praying
to God for a protracted period for a son.
Hannah’s prayers were inspired by the kind of
mockery that saluted every day of her life. She
was distracted, disturbed until it came to a
point when she wanted to starve herself to
death by refusing to eat.
Her starvation and daily prayers did not make
any difference. Until the day that Hannah
located a need that heaven has, that was the
day that her cry was over. She noticed that
heaven has a need for a prophet and she
16
decided to tie her prayers to the Prophet that
heaven needs. That was the turning point in
the prayers of Hannah. In the early stage of
Hannah’s prayers, she was too focused on
herself. All she wanted was to get a child so
that the mockery of Peninnah, her adversary,
may stop. When your prayers are too self-
centred, you may not see any result. But if you
can alter your prayer for the kingdom
advancement, you can begin to see a big shift
in the level of answers you see in your prayers.
Do not limit your prayers to me me, me alone.
Believers who pray in a very short-sighted
manner like this, rarely receive answers to
what they have been asking God for. Your goal
will be to locate a kingdom need that you may
satisfy. Hannah’s prayers were all about herself.
Oh God, don’t you see how Peninnah had been
mocking me? If you give me any child now,
this mockery will stop. I want to compete with
this woman who has become a thorn in my
flesh. As she continued to bang heaven’s door

17
with this kind of prayer, her answers never
came.
God would have been telling Hannah to
change her prayers a little and I will answer
you. But Hannah wasn’t hearing. All she
wanted was God just give me a child and I will
be okay. There was nothing like heaven’s needs
in her prayer points.
Her metamorphosis came when she noticed
that Israel had no prophet. So she placed a
demand on God for a prophet that will guide
the children of Israelites. When she began to
pray in this fashion, God may have been
saying, now Hannah I have heard your prayers
and I will give you a son.
The reason why believers don’t see answers to
their prayers is because it is so limited and
restricted in scope. Hannah had to lift up the
veil that was covering her eyes before her
answers came. The veil of what she wanted was
what limited her prayers. After it was lifted,
she saw that this prayer for a child is more

18
than what I wanted. There is a have an agenda
in this prayer point. She included that heaven’s
agenda in her prayer points and everything
changed. A son was given to her. Who later
became one of the greatest prophets that has
ever lived in the land of Israel.
The challenge is not because believers aren’t
praying. The main problem lies in the fact that
our prayers are too selfish to be answered.
James 4:2

Ye lust, and have not: ye

kill, and desire to have,
and cannot obtain: ye
fight and war, yet ye have
not, because ye ask not.

The Bible says that you asked and prayed yet

you never received any answers to your prayers
because the reason why you are asking is to
consume it upon your lust. You may be praying

19
to God to have a baby, and God is asking you
why should I give you a baby? You may be
asking God for a promotion in your job and
God is, in turn, asking you, why should I
promote you? Or you may be asking God to
bless you financially and change your finances
around, and God is asking you why should I
bless you financially?
If your prayers for financial prosperity is for
you to travel around the world and have fun,
then you can pray forever, no financial blessing
will ever drop in your life. The reason is simple
– the prayers are too selfish for God to answer
them. They are too limited in scope and they
are built around yourself alone and your
personal interests. Maybe you should change
that prayer a little more. And begin to observe
the difference in your financial life. Lord, I
want you to bless me financially so that
through my financial prosperity millions of lost
souls will come to the kingdom of God. Lord, I
wanted to be blessed financially so that I can
put a smile on the faces of the homeless people
20
in New York City. Lord, I want you to bless me
financially so that I can use the money you give
me to take over America for Jesus. Lord, I am
praying for financial increase so that with my
money I can build several churches around the
world. Lord, I am asking for financial
prosperity, so that I can sponsor pastors and
evangelists who are preaching the gospel the
world over.
Can you see the differences in the prayers
stated above? While the first arm of the prayer
was a focus on the person making the prayers,
the second aspect of the prayers dwells more
on the kingdom and the advancement of the
kingdom of heaven. When you begin to pray in
this direction, nothing will stop your prayers
from being answered. If you have been praying
to God for a business idea, what kingdom need
have you seen in that business that must be
satisfied? If you haven’t found any, then hold
on until you locate a kingdom need before you
pray the prayers. Praying kingdom
advancement prayers will change everything
21
for you. God is minded to answer you
immediately if your prayers are in line with the
demands of heaven.
The Bible says in the book of Matthew that
your will be done on earth even as it is done in
heaven.
Friends, I want you to look at the Scripture
critically with a third eye. Jesus was teaching
his disciples how to pray and he told them to
pray for the fulfilment of the will of God in
heaven to be done on earth. Jesus was telling
his disciples that if they can ask him for the
fulfilment of his will on earth, he will surely
answer them. A limited and shortsighted way
of praying will bring you no result at all.
Believers who have learned this early on will be
enjoying great and tremendous results of
prayers. And those who are still praying
everything about themselves will see no
answer. Beloved, kingdom advancement
prayers are the easiest way to have God hear
your cry.

22
Even if you are praying for a personal need,
attach that need with a heavenly demand. For
instance, if I am praying to God for a car now, I
will simply tell God if you give me a car I will
use the car for the advancement of your
kingdom. I can give people a free ride so that I
will use the opportunity to minister the gospel
of Jesus Christ to them. The moment I attach
that heavenly need to my prayers, God will give
me the car so that I can use it for the purpose
of advancing the kingdom of God. Friends, any
believer who wants to enjoy speedy answers to
his prayers must understand that putting
something on the table sometimes is what will
make God hear you.
I am going to give you a small assignment and
whenever you have the results of that
assignment, I would love to hear your
testimony. Make a list of all the prayers you
have been praying to God and haven’t seen an
answer. Change that prayer need in line with
the new revelation which you have just read
about. Attach a kingdom need to the prayer
23
and see what will happen. If the prayers have
been answered, I would be glad to celebrate
with you. Just write and share your testimony.

24
3
I want to open this chapter by telling you the
necessity of faith if you are interested in seeing
the results of your prayers being answered all
the time. In the Bible Hall of faith mentioned
in the book of Hebrew chapter 11, we will see a
lot of patriarch of the faith who through their
belief in God did these or did that. The Bible
even says that without the necessity of faith in
God, it is impossible to please him (see
Hebrews 11:6). A strong faith in God is required
in order to pray and see results. Doubts and
unbelieve are some of the potent tools that the
devil uses in order to thwart the prayers of
believers.
Hebrews 11:32-35

32 And what shall I more

say? for the time would

25
fail me to tell of Gedeon,
and of Barak, and of
Samson, and of Jephthae;
of David also, and
Samuel, and of the
prophets:

33 Who through faith

subdued kingdoms,
wrought righteousness,
obtained promises,
stopped the mouths of
lions,

34 Quenched the violence

of fire, escaped the edge
of the sword, out of
weakness were made

26
strong, waxed valiant in
fight, turned to flight the
armies of the aliens.

35 Women received their

dead raised to life again:
and others were
tortured, not accepting
deliverance; that they
might obtain a better
resurrection:

The faith of a believer is essential for effective

prayers. God lives in heaven and you don’t see
anything he does. The realm in which God lives
is called the realm of eternity. The only
material tangible for touching the realm in
which God exists is your faith. Faith is the only
currency by which spiritual businesses are
27
conducted between man and God. And this
currency can be obtained when you
consistently study the word of God in order to
feed your faith. That is why the farther you go
from the Bible, the more faithless you will
become.
Obtaining faith in other to see the results of
your prayers all the time you pray, is just one
step to prayers answers. There is another thing
that the believer must do for answers to
prayers to come down from heaven. Your
words must match your faith. In other words,
your conviction must match the word that you
speak from your mouth. Prayers can be
prevented from being answered if you claim to
believe with your heart and confess another
thing with your mouth. It is a height of
unbelief and lack of trust in God to say you
believe him and then confessed doubt through
your mouth.
We need to understand that every believer
who is a child of God has two mouths. The

28
inner mouth is not visible to the physical
senses, that is the mouth of the spirit. And the
physical mouth which is visible to the human
eyes. You must be consistent in what you speak
with your two mouths, that is, the mouth of
your spirit and the physical mouth. You cannot
be speaking doubt with the mouth of your
spirit, and speak faith with the physical mouth.
It is important for you to speak what you
believe in, and not what you see. What you see
around yourself will always contradict your
faith and believing God. In the same vein, what
you believe will always contradict what you see
in your environment. If what you are believing
God is the same as what you say, the answers
to your prayers will surely come.

29
4
Dealing with the foxes of doubt, fear and
discouragement
Songs of Solomon 2:15 offer us a very
instructive direction on what to do with little
foxes in the following words:

Take us the foxes, the

little foxes, that spoil the
vines: for our vines have
tender grapes.

1 Corinthians 5:6

Your glorying is not

good. Know ye not that a
little leaven leaveneth
the whole lump?
30
These little foxes of doubt, fear, and
discouragement have hindered the prayers of
many in the body of Christ. Sometimes they
may look innocuous, but the damage they can
do to the prayers of a believer is beyond words.
As a believer who is praying to see results, you
must guard your heart against them. If doubt
begins to rise in your heart, the first thing you
should do is to bind that doubt. It is not the
doubt, but the spirit that is behind the doubt.
You are not only binding the doubt you are
also binding the spirit that is sponsoring the
doubt. It is called the spirit of unbelief. For all
of these foxes, doubt, fear, and discouragement
there are spirits that power them. So if you
bind the spirit that is responsible for firing
doubt into your heart, you must have dealt
with them. If you don’t handle them
effectively, you may pray and not see results.
The Bible tells us that a double-minded man is
unstable in all his ways and that man cannot
receive anything from God. Once the devil has
pushed you to the level of double-mindedness,
31
then your results that you have been trusting
God for cannot come. These agents of doubt,
fear, and discouragement can come from
various sources. Surprisingly, even believers
who are children of God can become agents in
the hands of the evil one if they allowed him
to. Peter was a disciple of Jesus Christ, but
Satan at a point in time used to tell Jesus not to
go to the cross. While many may think it is too
harsh for Jesus to turn and look at Peter and
say, get thee behind me Satan. Jesus was not
rebuking Peter. Jesus was rebuking the devil
that Peter allowed to use him. For Judas
Iscariot, the Bible says the devil entered him. It
was after the devil entered into Judas Iscariot
that he began to hatch the plan of executing
Jesus, the Saviour of the world.
There was a time that the Lord led me to do a
very high level of sacrificial giving. I knew that
it was the Lord because it came with such a
clear conviction that the spirit of the Lord was
leading me. I immediately subjected myself to
God’s counsel and began to do what he
32
commanded me to do. On a very sunny and
hot day, a believer whom I respect so much
came to me and said, “Brother Pius, I heard of
all these giving that you have been doing. Even
if you give your body to be burnt in the fire and
have no love, it will profit you nothing.”
I was a baby Christian still finding my way in
Christianity. And this supposedly matured
Christian came to convince me to go contrary
to the instructions of God for my life. Well, as
babyish as I was, I looked at him right in the
face and said, “I will keep doing what I am
doing because it is the Lord that is leading me.”
A barrage of surprise immediately stung the
face of this believer. He never thought I would
give him that kind of answer. Yet I did that to
his complete astonishment.
Never allow anybody to put you out of God’s
conviction on what you are trusting the Lord
for. They weren’t there when you began to pray
and even if they were there, the conviction is
your personal belief, not theirs.

33
Doubt and discouragement are very strong
tools for the enemy because the devil knows
that the day you stop believing you stop
receiving. He also knows that if you get
discouraged, you may not get the answers to
your prayers. So he begins to fire every form of
dart in order to shake your faith in God. Deal
with every spirit of unbelief and
discouragement. Handle them immediately
when you notice the enemy is using them
against you. Those who don’t deal with that
kind of spirit may turn out to hinder them and
prevent the work that God wants to do through
their prayers.

34
5
Counting your blessings for thanksgiving
Thanksgiving and appreciation to God is a
powerful key that unlocks what you are
trusting God for. But before you begin to thank
God, I want you to take a minute and recognise
all the things that God has done for you in the
time past. That is what it means to count your
blessings and if you can count your blessings,
you will surely be thanking God. Murmuring
always comes when a believer fails to
remember the faithfulness of God previously.
God is indeed faithful. If you have prayed a
prayer for chocolate and the Lord has
provided, that will serve as an encouragement
for you to pray for even bigger things and for
the Lord to deliver it into your hands. But the
greatest problem is, sometimes we fail to
remember the things that God has done for us
35
in the past. As we do, a deluge of complain
begins to fall from our mouths.
Mark 6:52

For they considered not

the miracle of the loaves:
for their heart was
hardened.

Jesus fed about 5000 people. The disciples were

actively involved in this miracle of 5000. In one
way or the other, they all participated. When
the feeding of the 5000 people was over, they
took about 12,000 baskets full of fragmented
fishes and bread. Jesus instructed his disciples
to go over to the other side, Bethsaida while he
sent the people away. According to the
instructions of Jesus, the disciples entered into
the ship in other to cross over to the other side.
When it was about 3 AM in the morning, they
saw Jesus walking on the water. They were all
paralysed by fear and began to reason within

36
themselves that it was a ghost. The Bible says
because they couldn’t remember the miracles
of the 5000 and how many loaves they took up,
their heart was hardened.
Every prayer that God has answered for you is a
building material for tomorrow’s faith in other
to trust God for what he will do in the future.
The disciples of Jesus completely forgot about
the miracle that they saw. As a result of that,
fear rose in their hearts.
Friends, you need to have a journal for keeping
tracks of some of the major miracles that God
has done in your life. That is one of the
fundamental keys to remaining thankful. And
if you can be thankful to God, then the tank of
your blessings must always be full. There is a
song we used to sing when I was growing up.
Count your blessings and name them one by
one and it will surprise you what the Lord has
done. How scripturally true the song is. A man
that can sit down to analyse the things that
God has been doing in his life, is a man that

37
will remain thankful to God for all that he has
seen.
What the devil tries to do all the time in other
to take believers to the realm of complaining is
to continue to show them all the things that
God has not done. He keeps pointing you to
them and with time, you begin to complain.
The devil does not want to tell you the plenty
of things that God has been doing for you. He
prefers to push you to the wall and keep
showing you the things that God is yet to do.
Even the things he is showing you, it is possible
that God been a faithful father he will do them
with time. Whenever the devil begins to show
you the things that God has not done, show
him the things that God has done. In that way,
you will be able to destroy all his plans to push
you to the place of complaining and
grumbling.
Psalms 67:5-7

38
5 Let the people praise
thee, O God; let all the
people praise thee.

6 Then shall the earth

yield her increase; and
God, even our own God,
shall bless us.

7 God shall bless us; and

all the ends of the earth
shall fear him.

After you have counted your blessings, the next

thing you need to do is to praise him. The Bible
says let the people praise God and when they
do, the earth will begin to release her increase.
When the earth has released the increase, then
blessings of God will begin to fall in every
direction.

Get it now
Your prayers become effective and materialize
into tangible reality when you can combine
your belief with actions. After you spend some
time praying, there is a need to take a step and
action that is in line with the believer’s
conviction. It is not for you to sit down keep
waiting for the answers to come. The
faithfulness of God guarantees that the answers
will come but it is your duty to take steps of
faith.
Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is the

substance of things
hoped for, the evidence of
things not seen.
40
The opening verse of this book says faith is a
present and current action. Here is one of the
reasons why many believers are mistaken
about prayers. They must have satisfied all the
requirement we have explained in the previous
chapters. However, when it comes to taking
practical steps in order for the things they are
trusting God to manifest, they fail. I know this
may look elementary to us but is still a
fundamental aspect of Scripture. The Bible says
faith without works is dead. After you spent
some time praying and trusting God, there is a
place for you to take actions. In fact, every
prayer must be combined with faith in other to
produce results. The Bible says without faith it
is impossible to please God.
Let me give you an example. If you are trusting
God to get admission into Harvard University,
one of the best universities the world over. You
have taken considerable time to pray and
believed that God has heard you. If you want to
combine your faith with practical actions, you
can get your curriculum for the first year
41
Harvard University and study it. Even if you
don’t understand anything been said in that
curriculum, you can begin to look at it.
Another person’s case might not really be a
university admission that he is praying to God
for. Somebody might be trusting God for the
fruit of the womb. After you have prayed to
God to give you the fruit of the womb, you may
need to take an extra step in other to confirm
your belief that God has heard and answered
your prayers. There will be no need for you to
wait until the baby comes before you purchase
baby things. There will be no need for you to
wait until the baby comes before you take
action. The Bible says what a man has, does he
hope for it again. Romans 8:24 “For we are
saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope:
for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope
for?”
It would be foolhardy for you to be praying to
God for $1000 and when the Lord has made

42
provision, you keep praying over the same
$1000.
My elder sister who got married was trusting
God to be blessed with a baby. So she came to
me and we prayed over that. After we had
prayed and trust the Lord to bless her with the
fruit of the womb, it immediately registered in
my spirit that my sister had to go and buy baby
things in anticipation for the baby that will
come. I did as the inspiration of the Holy Spirit
came upon my heart. The rest, as they say, is a
story. She does not only have a baby she has
two kids right now.
I have to share this testimony with you because
I believe that testimonies inspired faith.
Another sister from Malaysia was trusting God
to be blessed with the fruit of the womb for
many years. She told me how hard they have
tried to get a baby but nothing was
forthcoming. So I told her on the phone one
day that by December, you will have a baby.
She said, “Brother Pius that is impossible.”

43
Then she went on in unbelief, “even if I will
have a baby by the time you have stated, it will
be an immature baby because a baby must
spend nine months in the womb before it is
born.”
I encouraged the sister to go immediately and
buy baby things. I was trying to match what we
are trusting God for with our faith. On a very
sober day, the sister called me to inform me
that she was pregnant. She conceived that
same year and give birth the following year.
She was overcome with joy that she couldn’t
sleep, tossing and turning in the sea of her own
joy. That miraculous baby that came shocked
her as it was something she never expected to
happen.
Friends, I give you all these testimonies in
other to make you understand that when you
have prayed, there is a need for further action –
the action of practical faith. The steps that you
are taking should be in line with your

44
conviction and belief that God has answered
your prayers.
Some prayers didn’t get answered not because
God didn’t want to answer them, but a lack of
action on the part of those who are praying to
God for a given thing. There was a time after
graduating from college and my law school
that I was trusting God for a job. I prayed and
trusted God to bless me with a great job. After
praying, I went around the city contacting
different firms and organisations if they
wanted my services. Many of them rejected me
but I never give up because I knew that I had
prayed to God and he will fulfil his promises
concerning my life. I know the Bible says that
the step of the just is ordered by the Lord. I
just wandered into an office and I submitted
my CV to them. One of the bosses there who
attended to me asked if I knew that they were
looking for an employee. I told her I didn’t
know, I just walked into the office to drop my
CV. They told me that they would get back to
me.
45
As I walked down the stairs of that office on
that sunny Nigerian day (now the place where I
work), I heard the Holy Spirit said in my heart
distinctively, “I will give you this job.”
I was subsequently scheduled for the interview
and I passed everything. I was given the job. I
took the time to give you all these testimonies
in other to make you understand that your
prayers and your faith without action will not
make you see any result. Any child of God who
is interested in seeing the result of his prayers
must learn to take actions that confirm the
things he is believing God for. Anything short
of that will leave you with a lot of prayer points
without answers.
Maintain a clean heart
This book will be incomplete if I do not take
my time to explain this important factor for
praying to see results.
Psalms 66:18

46
If I regard iniquity in my
heart, the Lord will not
hear me:

This Bible passage is very clear and you do not

need any form of revelation to know what it
says. A believer who is praying to God in order
to see results in his life but has sin in his heart,
he is wasting his time. As you pray and believe
God to answer your prayers, maintain a clean
heart. Do not give any place to sin and iniquity
because if you do, it will nullify the entire
effort you have made in other to receive from
God. God’s attitude towards sin has not
changed right from the time of Adam and Eve.
Their expulsion from the Garden of Eden was
occasioned by sin. The expulsion of Lucifer,
now Satan, was also sponsored by sin. The
Bible says the eyes of the Lord are too holy to
behold iniquity. If the eyes of the Lord are too
holy to behold sin, how then can he answer
your prayers? Moses was a great man of God

47
with exceptional spiritual encounters. But time
came that he cried to God yet no answer came.
There was an issue of sin – disobedience to the
instruction of God when the Lord instructed
Moses to speak to the rock, but he decided to
strike it. That is one area we need to watch out
for if we want to see the results of our prayers.
Praying to see results will be easy if we can
observe the conditions that have been stated
and explained earlier.
I am waiting to hear your testimonies and may
the Lord in his mercy bless you.
