    The Governor of Assam has issued a notification to extend the settlement period for settled lands in all settled areas outside of the 6th schedule area by 5 years, from October 1st, 2023 to September 30th, 2028. The previous settlement periods were set to expire on September 30th, 2023. The extension is in accordance with certain rules of the Assam Land and Revenue Regulation of 1886. The District Commissioners and other officials have been instructed to take necessary action.

    Ecf No.297955/28: In partial modification of all earlier orders relating to terminal year of
    Settlement in different districts of Assam, which will expire on 30 th September, 2023 and in
    conformity with the provisions of Rule1 (e) read with Rule 48 (b) and Rule 64 (e) of the
    Assam Land & Revenue Regulation, 1886, the Governor of Assam is pleased to extend the
    period of settlement year for settled lands in all settled areas (except 6th schedule area) that
    are not under resettlement operation, by 5 (five) years w.e.f. 1-10-2023 till 30-09-2028 .
