Selected Quranic Verses about the House of David

& the Children of Israel

14:39 Praise be to Allah Who hath given me (Abraham), in my old age, Ishmael and
Isaac! Lo! my Lord is indeed the Hearer of Prayer.

3:84 Say (O Blessed Muhammad): We believe in Allah and that which is revealed unto
us and that which was revealed unto Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the
(twelve) tribes (of Israel), and that which was vouchsafed unto Moses and Jesus and the
Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and unto Him
we have surrendered

5:12 Allah made a covenant of old with the Children of Israel and We raised among them
Twelve Chieftains: and Allah said: Lo! I am with you. If ye establish worship and pay the
poor due, and believe in My messengers and support them, and lend unto Allah a kindly
loan, surely I shall remit your sins, and surely I shall bring you into gardens underneath
which rivers flow. Whoso among you disbelieveth after this will go astray from a plain
road

Divine Favor on the House of David (peace be upon him)

34:13 Give thanks, O House of David! Few of My bondmen are thankful.

2:251 So they routed them by Allah's leave and David slew Goliath; and Allah gave him
the kingdom and wisdom, and taught him of that which He willeth. And if Allah had not
repelled some men by others the earth would have been corrupted. But Allah is a Lord of
Kindness to (His) creatures.

4:163 Lo! We inspire thee as We inspired Noah and the prophets after him, as We
inspired Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the tribes, and Jesus and Job and
Jonah and Aaron and Solomon, and as we imparted unto David the Psalms;

5:78 Those of the children of Israel who went astray were cursed by the tongue of David,
and of Jesus, son of Mary. That was because they rebelled and used to transgress.

6:84 And We bestowed upon him (Abraham) Isaac and Jacob; each of them We guided;
and Noah did We guide aforetime; and of his seed (We guided) David and Solomon and
Job and Joseph and Moses and Aaron. Thus do We reward the good.

17:55 And thy Lord is best aware of all who are in the heavens and the earth. And we
preferred some of the Prophets above others, and unto David We gave the Psalms.

21:78 And David and Solomon, when they gave judgment concerning the field, when
people's sheep had strayed and browsed therein by night; and We were witnesses to their
judgment.

21:79 And We made Solomon to understand (the case); and unto each of them We gave
judgment and knowledge. And We subdued the hills and the birds to hymn (His) praise
along with David. We were the doers (thereof).

27:15 And We verily gave knowledge unto David and Solomon, and they said: Praise be
to Allah, Who hath preferred us above many of His believing slaves!

27:16 And Solomon was David's heir. And he said: O mankind! Lo! we have been taught
the language of birds, and have been given (abundance) of all things. This surely is
evident favor.

34:10 And assuredly We gave David grace from Us, (saying): O ye hills and birds, echo
his psalms of praise! And We made the iron supple unto him,

34:13 They made for him what he willed: synagogues and statues, basins like wells and
boilers built into the ground. Give thanks, O House of David! Few of My bondmen are
thankful.

38:17 Bear with what they say, and remember Our bondman David, lord of might. Lo! he
was ever turning in repentance (toward Allah).

38:22 How they burst in upon David, and he was afraid of them! They said: Be not
afraid! (We are) two litigants, one of whom hath wronged the other, therefore judge
aright between us; be not unjust; and show us the fair way.

38:24 (David) said: He hath wronged thee in demanding thine ewe in addition to his
ewes, and lo! many partners oppress one another, save such as believe and do good
works, and they are few. And David guessed that We had tried him, and he sought
forgiveness of his Lord, and he bowed himself and fell down prostrate and repented.

38:26 (And it was said unto him): O David! Lo! We have set thee as a vicegerent in the
earth; therefore judge aright between mankind, and follow not desire that it beguile thee
from the way of Allah. Lo! those who wander from the way of Allah have an awful
doom, forasmuch as they forgot the Day of Reckoning.

38:30 And We bestowed on David, Solomon. How excellent a slave! Lo! he was ever
turning in repentance (toward Allah).

Divine Favor on the Children of Israel

2:40 O Children of Israel! Remember My favor wherewith I favored you, and fulfill your
(part of the) covenant, I shall fulfill My (part of the) covenant and fear Me.

2:47 O Children of Israel! Remember My favor wherewith I favored you and how I
preferred you to (all) creatures.

2:63 And (remember, O Children of Israel) when We made a covenant with you and
caused the Mount to tower above you, (saying): Hold fast that which We have given you,
and remember that which is therein, that ye may ward off (evil).

2:83 And (remember) when We made a covenant with the Children of Israel, (saying):
Worship none save Allah (only), and be good to parents and to kindred and to orphans
and the needy, and speak kindly to mankind; and establish worship and pay the poor due.
Then, after that, ye slid back, save a few of you, being averse.

2:122 O Children of Israel! Remember My favor wherewith I favored you and how I
preferred you to (all) creatures.

2:211 Ask of the Children of Israel how many a clear revelation We gave them! He who
altereth the grace of Allah after it hath come unto him (for him), lo! Allah is severe in
punishment.

2:246 Bethink thee of the leaders of the Children of Israel after Moses, how they said
unto a Prophet whom they had: Set up for us a King and we will fight in Allah's way. He
said: Would ye then refrain from fighting if fighting were prescribed for you? They said:
Why should we not fight in Allah's way when we have been driven from our dwellings
with our Children? Yet, when fighting was prescribed for them, they turned away, all
save a few of them. Allah is Aware of evil-doers.

3:49 And will make him (Jesus) a messenger unto the Children of Israel, (saying): Lo! I
come unto you with a sign from your Lord. Lo! I fashion for you out of clay the likeness
of a bird, and I breathe into it and it is a bird, by Allah's leave. I heal him who was born
blind, and the leper, and I raise the dead, by Allah's leave. And I announce unto you what
ye eat and what ye store up in your houses. Lo! herein verily is a portent for you, if ye are
believers.

3:93 All food was lawful unto the Children of Israel, save that which Israel forbade
himself, (in days) before the Torah was revealed. Say: Produce the Torah and read it
(unto us) if ye are truthful.

5:12 Allah made a covenant of old with the Children of Israel and We raised among them
Twelve Chieftains: and Allah said: Lo! I am with you. If ye establish worship and pay the
poor due, and believe in My messengers and support them, and lend unto Allah a kindly

which rivers flow. Whoso among you disbelieveth after this will go astray from a plain
road.

5:32 For that cause We decreed for the Children of Israel that whosoever killeth a human
being for other than manslaughter or corruption in the earth, it shall be as if be had killed
all mankind, and whoso saveth the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all
mankind. Our messengers came unto them of old with clear proofs (of Allah's
sovereignty) , but afterwards lo! many of them became prodigals in the earth.

5:70 We made a covenant of old with the Children of Israel and We sent unto them
messengers. As often as a messenger came unto them with that which their souls desired
not (they became rebellious). Some (of them) they denied and some they slew.

5:72 They surely disbelieve who say : Lo! Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary. The
Messiah (himself) said : O Children of Israel, worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. Lo!
whoso ascribeth partners unto Allah, for him Allah hath forbidden Paradise. His abode is
the Fire. For evildoers there will be no helpers.

5:78 Those of the Children of Israel who went astray were cursed by the tongue of David,
and of Jesus, son of Mary. That was because they rebelled and used to transgress.

5:110 When Allah saith: O Jesus, son of Mary! Remember My favor unto thee and unto
thy mother; how I strengthened thee with the holy Spirit, so that thou spakest unto
mankind in the cradle as in maturity; and how I taught thee the Scripture and Wisdom
and the Torah and the Gospel; and how thou didst shape of clay as it were the likeness of
a bird by My permission, and didst blow upon it and it was a bird by My permission, and
thou didst heal him who was born blind and the leper by My permission; and how thou
didst raise the dead, by My permission and how I restrained the Children of Israel from
(harming) thee when thou camest unto them with clear proofs, and those of them who
disbelieved exclaimed: This is naught else than mere magic;

7:105 Approved upon condition that I (Moses) speak concerning Allah nothing but the
truth. I come unto you (lords of Egypt) with a clear proof from your Lord. So let the
Children of Israel go with me.

because He hath a covenant with thee. If thou removest the terror from us we verily will
trust thee and will let the Children of Israel go with thee.

7:137 And We caused the folk who were devised to inherit the eastern parts of the land
and the western parts there of which We had blessed. And the fair word of the Lord was
fulfilled for the Children of Israel because of their endurance; and We annihilated (all)
that Pharaoh and his folk had done and that they had contrived.

7:138 And We brought the Children of Israel across the sea, and they came unto a people

Israel believe, and I am of those who surrender (unto Him).

Allah unto you, confirming that which was (revealed) before me in the Torah, and
bringing good tidings of a messenger who cometh after me, whose name is the Praised
One. Yet when he hath come unto them with clear proofs, they say: This is mere magic.

2:140 Or say ye that Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac, and Jacob, and the tribes were
Jews or Christians? Say: Do ye know best, or doth Allah? And who is more unjust than
he who hideth a testimony which he hath received from Allah? Allah is not unaware of
what ye do.
