CHAPTER III

INDUSTRY TRENDS AND ANALYSIS

A. Maturity of the Industry

Sustainability and digitization are the two major categories that will determine and

change fashion trends in the future. No brand or retailer will be able to avoid them. Sustainability

and digitization are anything but opposites. In fact, many sustainable developments can only be

implemented through digital processes. Fashion is a fast-changing industry where new trends are

constantly emerging and evolving. This characteristic creates a short life cycle for most fashion

products. While some trendy items today may become obsolete tomorrow, lost fashion styles can

come back with new vigor again and again. The process of fashion trends arriving and leaving is

called the fashion product life cycle. In this article, we’ll explore the stages of a clothing life

cycle and explore the benefits of a fashion boutique POS to your product lifecycle management

(PLM). Fashion product life cycle is the entire process through which a clothing item is

introduced in the market till it leaves the market. In theory, there are 4 stages of a product’s life:

introduction, growth, maturity, and decline. Depending on the preferences of the majority, some

products remain in a prolonged maturity state, while some quickly go extinct, and some

eventually return and revolve after many years. In addition to the 4 traditional stages, fashion

retailers must also consider another 4 categories of trends: basics, fashions, fads, and styles. The

life of a fashion item is visualized as a bell-shaped curve, where it starts in the introduction stage,

gradually goes up in the growth stage, reaches its maximum popularity and profit in the maturity

stage, then demand decreases and it falls into the decline stage. With the rising appeal of a

product, more and more people are accepting the fashion trend. As a result of fashion
11

recognition, companies will produce more to meet demand. Sales will begin to climb

significantly, and more competitors are starting to notice the opportunity. As the trend spreads,

distribution will become more widespread. In this stage, the objective of marketing will be on

increasing exposure to gain approval from the general public. In this phase, the product has

reached its peak of popularity. When the public’s interest decreases, the item’s price and sales

volume go down, meaning profit margins are thinner. Competition for this item also becomes

more intense and there’s no room for new entries, indicating that the market has reached

saturation. In the maturity stage, the marketing purpose is to fend off competition, and introduce

altered products if possible. This leads to opportunities for new fashions.

B. Vulnerability of Economic Factors

Because of the growing contribution of the fashion industry to the national economy as

well as in the global economy, fashion has become one of the indexes to measure the economy of

a respective nation. High fashion and the practice of Haute couture fashion means, country is

developed, economic growth is stabilized, and hence, the economy is strong. On the contrary, if

people have just basic clothes or dresses to wear, it means the country is in a developing state

and the economy is underdeveloped. In addition to this, fluctuations in the economy substantially

affect fashion. For example, during the recession or pandemic time, fashion becomes the least

priority and issues like "value for money" and durability become more important and hence it

affects the demand for trendy items. On the other hand, if the economy is strong and national

income is high, fashion flourishes. Furthermore, the global effect of devaluation of the dollar,
12

international trade agreements, fluctuations in inflation rates, etc. affect the global economy. As a

result, manufacturing, marketing, and, of course, buying patterns get affected. For example, the

2007–08 recession affected the whole world. Many of the private companies struck down, people

lost their employment, and national income went record low. Economic factors such as

Recession, In the nation’s economy, it is a temporary period of decline of the economy; during

this period, trade and industrial activity go down, and it is measured by a fall in GDP in two

successive quarters. Inflation, In the nation’s economy is a temporary period during which the

prices of goods and services go up; the value of money decreases and living costs increase. The

prices of every product are very high and hence very difficult for the common people to afford

anything other than food items. Surprisingly, many people cannot even buy food. National

Economic Policy: National Economic Policy refers to the laws and rules made to regulate

business and trade industry. If such rules and laws are strict, the taxes are very high, then the

prices of (specially) the luxurious products will be high, which is not approachable by the people

of the middle-income group. On the other hand, if the national economic policy is liberal, taxes

are comparatively low, then it is a good sign for the business and trade industries. For example,

after 1990s changes in national economic policy (i.e., liberalization, privatization, and

globalization), hundreds of industries grew in India.

High Economic Growth Rate: Last but not the least, if a country’s economy is strong and

thriving, in such a condition, the fashion industry grows, as every person not only wants to have

trendy dresses, but also can buy them.

C. Seasonal Factors
13

Our clothing shop will provide quality clothes based on the season. We within it have to

routinely think in blocks of three, six, nine and twelve months consecutively. The fabric of the

clothes differs as per seasons or the weather conditions like we use thick fabric clothes that can

keep us warm during winters, we use cotton clothes in summers and raincoats in rainy seasons.

Every new season means a change in style. The move from one season to the next always has a

huge impact on how we think and feel. We make adjustments to the way we look based on the

weather conditions and our environment. But of course, seasons influence more than just our

dress sense and outlook; the change of seasons affects our entire culture. We’re always changing

the way we do things in response to new seasons. There are events and shows that are only

available at certain times of the year, including fashion shows, like London Fashion Week. Our

spending habits are influenced by seasonal change too. With that in mind, let’s explore in

greater detail how the seasons affect our culture and modern fashion. The change of seasons has

an impact on every industry, from fashion to entertainment and even gaming. In fashion,

designers from all over the world create clothes for the four main seasons, with different styles

and fabrics. When we move into the colder months, retailers often switch gears, filling their

shelves with jumpers and jackets. Demand and interest in products are always affected by

seasons. In other sectors like travel, seasonality influences the number of people booking

holidays at different destinations. Many companies, like the gaming business, for example, even

tailor their services to keep up with the changes. The online gaming industry often has content

for different seasons and events, such as Halloween and Christmas-themed updates on mobile

games, and even seasonal slots. The benefit of this is more variety for players, but if you want

the best, you need to check this list on Bonus Finder, a platform that hosts online slots, casino
14

games, and free spins. Online gaming businesses face heavy competition and, by providing

seasonal themed games, they can stay relevant and further engage audiences.

D. Technological Factors

In today’s modern media people are focused on their social media and nowadays they

keep up with the trends that are in fashion today especially when it comes to clothing. There are

a lot of trendy clothes these days, that's why aesthetics is here to offer you the clothes that suit

your OOTD and you can buy the clothes you want at a very affordable price. Back in the day,

designers would create similar designs without their knowledge. However, with the advent of

designing apps, it has become rare for designs to be equal or exact. All thanks to computing

power, once you put up your security, you rest assured that your artificial intelligence is safe.

The introduction and intervention of technology have seen considerable developments in many

industries. With this,The fashion industry has not been an exception. This technological advent

has made it possible for the growth of the fashion sector. Aesthetics also offers you an online

shopping experience and can visit our social media accounts. We are always inspired and

astounded at the constant development of technology moving the fashion industry into a more

efficient and creative future. Refining and developing manufacturing processes allows designers

limitless possibilities. The ever growing digital world opens up new opportunities, both in the

creative process and the way we interact with and discover fashion. Incredible products are

growing out of interdisciplinary collaborations, using the skills of scientists, computer

engineers, manufacturers and designers.

15

E. Regulatory Issues

Accesthetics is a type of business where the customers can buy their favorite

clothing, shoes and others and satisfy their interests. Therefore, it is important to maintain

cleanliness inside and outside the shop. The owners require the staff assigned in the shop to

clean the area where the clothes are being displayed. This is for the health and safety of the

buyers. Also, the owners have decided to put fire extinguishers and a fire exit. These two are

essential for the safety of the customers and staff when an unexpected dangerous incident

happens. In addition to that, the business requires the staff and the customers to always sanitize

their hands and check their body temperature in the thermometer that the business provides

because of the current situation where people are in the middle of a pandemic. Also, Aesthetics

has CCTVs to ensure the safety and security of all the employees and customers. Aesthetics

always prioritize the safety and security of their customers above anything else.

F. Supply and Distribution

Accesthetics is not just a typical clothing shop but a clothing shop that has a twist.

Aesthetics also offered lower clothes such as pants, jogger pants, maong shorts, denims. Also we

have accessories like necklaces, bracelets, caps etc. We also sell shoes like sneakers, top-sider

and many more. Supplies are both supplied locally and internationally, however, it is mostly

supplied by the local suppliers in our country. With the chill and relaxing ambiance of

Aesthetics physical store, it offers walk-in. It also accommodates orders that were made online

and accommodates inquiries through their social media accounts. Especially we are open for
16

resellers that might want to resell our products and Aesthetics our open for collaborations in

other clothing brands.

A. Target Customers

The café and design are suitable for everyone, especially those who are living nearby the location

including its neighbor cities. However, since it is a budget-friendly clothing store, the prime

customer of Accesthetics are those teens to young adults because the fashion trend that is perfect

for styling and bringing people together, while nurturing fashion..

● Age 10 to 45 years old

● Theme: Streetwear,Formal wear,Vintage.

● Occupation: Students,Employees,Unemployed

● Budget: 100 - 2,000 pesos

Accessthetics is located in McArthur highway Poblacion, Meycauayan Bulacan. Fronting

Esperanza mall and close to Meycauayan College Main Campus.

B. Buying Patterns and Sensitivities

Buying Patterns

Acccestheics’ products such as shirts, polo, pants shoes, rings and necklaces. Because clothing

is considered a daily need since customers will only purchase these products in order to treat or

show the style themselves, when they have something to celebrate, or just simply for hanging

out and interest. Also, customers will tend to buy these products because their peers

recommended them or due to the factors like logo, taglines, and other advertisement materials.
17

Therefore, it is a limited decision making since it requires a moderate amount oftime to think in

order to purchase. It may be considered as impulse buying due to the fact that customers will

only buy because it is influenced by their friends without merely planning, or it is just suddenly

the persistent urge to buy immediately. But rest assured, with the high-quality products and

various marketing strategies of the business, guarantee to meet Accesthetics customers'

expectations and fulfill their satisfaction.

Buying Sensitivity

The table below illustrates the buying sensitivity of the business's potential customers.

These factors significantly contribute to the customers' decision-making as it affects them to

decide whether they will purchase the products or avail the services. In accordance with what the

table shows, the customers consider other various aspects aside from the product itself when

buying certain goods. This comprises the price, product features, quality of the product, brand

name, speed of delivery, special offers, courteousness of the employees, how the business is

advertised, packaging, the convenience of the purchase, accessibility, ambiance of the

CHAPTER V

THE COMPETITION

A. Competitors and Market Share

In Esperanza Mall, which is located at the McArthur Highway in Meycauayan, Bulacan

has a lot of clothing business that also sells shirts, accessories, jackets and sweatshirts but the

difference is there is no exact and direct competitors that offers the same services that

AccEsthethics have such us customize design that the consumer can buy inside the shop. Below

are the list of shops that also sells a clothing and accessories and considered as direct competitors

in terms of the location:

● Star Shop - It is located at McArthur Highway. This shop offers t-shirts, pants, shorts,

skirts and much more. They also offer appliances and accessories.

● Bench - It is located inside the SM Marilao. This shop offers polo shirts, shoes, and more.

They also offer clothing underneath like boxers, sports bras and all.

● Penshoppe - It is also located inside the SM Marilao. This shop also offers clothes and

accessories.

● Artwork - It is also located inside the SM Marilao. This shop offers cute and unique

clothes with their own artworks.

● Oxgn - This shop is also located in SM Marilao. This is also famous especially for

teenagers. This shop also offers clothes and accessories.

Market Share Distribution

20

According to the graph below, which displays the distribution of market share across

competitors, the Bench looks to have a 37.7% market share in the area. This outcome

stands out as the company's current closest and most formidable rival. As was already

mentioned, AccEsthetics doesn't have an exact direct rival that sells the same goods and

services. As a result, Bench and other competitors are only recognised in terms of

AccEsthetics. The information was solely based on local observation and market

research.

Figure 4: Market Share Distribution

21

B. Porter’s Five Forces of Competition

Figure 5: Forces of Competition

Table 2

Forces of Competition

Forces Degree Reason

Competitive Rivalry Middle Although there are no exact

competitors for AccEsthetics

22

for its products, the location

has a lot of direct competitors

in terms of the clothing store.

Hence, customers can easily

switch to a competitor’s

services for a small cost,

efficiency, and availability.

However, the uniqueness of

the clothes in terms of the

products it offered may

increase its market

attractiveness.

Bargaining Power of Buyer High Customers have many options

for what to wear and what to

buy because there are several

clothing brand competitors in

the area. Because of this,

AccEsthetics is under

pressure to distinguish itself

from the competition, draw

customers, and be

exceptional.
23

Bargaining Power of Low AccEsthetics has a lot of

Supplier suppliers for each of their

products for more options.

This is to lessen problems in

terms of quantity, urgency,

and costing. Since there are a

lot of suppliers options, there

are alternative sources when

such problems occur. Hence,

there is low supplier power.

Threats of Substitute Low In terms of the unique

products AccEsthetics

offered, there is a low threat

of substitutes as there is no

exact competitor for them

(the combination of Clothing

Line and Accessories). The

experience of the business

can not be easily substituted.

Hence, customers will not

easily seek other services and

products.
24

Threats of New Entrants Low The notion behind the

concept of AccEsthetics is

because of the interest and

passions of its owners. The

products offered in this

Clothing Line are not usually

seen in a common Clothing

Line. This concept is a bit

risky for others if their goal is

to simply earn and achieve

their return on investment.

25

CHAPTER VI

STRATEGIC POSITION AND RISK ASSESSMENT

A. SWOT Analysis of the Business

a. Strengths

● AccEsthetics offers a lower/affordable price for accessories that are manufactured at the

best of qualities, on par with high-end retailers.

● Customizing accessories is a huge part of the business, with a product being made by the

customers’ imagination in which AccEsthetics delivers upon, turning your dream

accessory into reality and much more.

● AccEsthetics believes in the equality of every individual, thus the accessories offered are

inclusive to everyone’s taste, regardless of sociocultural background, economical status,

race, gender and so on.

● Business locations are spread out all over from as big as a region to as small as a

barangay, as the business believes in being accessible to all customers wherever they may

be.

● AccEsthetics’ strategy is comparable to fast food expansion with the likes of McDonald’s

or the likes of SM’s minimart chains of Alfamart, instead offering and more centered

upon clothing and accessories to an outlet near you.

b. Weakness

● With AccEsthetics’ outlets being spread out in various areas all at the same time,

maintenance cost for each location with the many materials being bought, machineries to
26

make the products i.e. accessories, the manpower needed to operate a singular location

means it is very costly to run, along with the many locations.

● Customers can have a different taste with their style, specially with their clothing or

accessories they want to wear.

● Cannot offer everything in one go, only what is available for that certain amount of time,

such as being seasonal or running out on certain materials to make the accessories.

Usually takes 1 business week until the new rotation of products is handed.

c. Opportunities

● AccEsthetics can do promotions if many other customers will like the products we serve,

so that the business can spread out in the said locations and other people or civilians can

knock their mind to buy our products.

● The business can expand to different locations when customers find the business

satisfying, this will benefit both parties the business and the customers for they will have

more accessibility to the store so it is convenient to go to the physical store.

d. Threats

● Some materials can be unavailable to make the accessories so production may be

hindered or slowed to a crawl, thus having less availability depending on materials being

present for AccEsthetics’ use.

27

● Comments that are negative, with little to no structure to their criticism, damaging

fallacies, hearsays and so forth against the business can ruin AccEsthetics’ reputation as

an accessory and clothing retailer.

● Other businesses ranging from a small business akin to AccEsthetics to well-known high

end retailers would start to copy AccEsthetics’ strategy of expanding its reach to

customers, scenarios in which these other businesses may flourish whilst AccEsthetics

crumble due to irrelevance are possible.

1. Formal work clothing: Professional and tailored to a certain customer, professional

clothing is typically reserved for store managers. This dress code, which includes dress shirts and

business suits, may be found in upscale establishments. Dress shoes and polo jackets, as well as

the necessity to wear a tie, may be included in the requirement. Solid-colored pants are typically

necessary. Black, gray, or khaki are popular choices. Khaki pants are a little more professional

than black denim trousers, but darker colors hide stains and last longer.

2. Long hair should be properly pulled back from the neck and away from the face.

Employees can still look sophisticated with their hair pulled back if they use hair clips or stylish

hair ties that match their outfit.

3. At all times, facial hair should be kept clean and neatly cut. Unkempt beards can shed

hair in unexpected places.

4. Make sure that their nails are clipped and clean. Scrub the hands with a light brush

under running water to remove dirt from under the nails and avoid false nails or thick nail

lacquer. Polish can flake off and wind up in drinking coffee.

71

Social Media Policy

A social media policy establishes standards and regulations for the company's use of

social media. While businesses can't always manage what the employees post on social media,

professionals can set certain guidelines for talking about the company and brand. There are no

exceptions to these policies, which must apply to everyone in the cafe, from the owner to the

staff. Following these rules can help the business maintain a consistent brand image across all

social media platforms. Safety on social media - It's critical to always keep personal social media

accounts secure. As a result, only a few individuals of the staff should be trusted with passwords

for various accounts.

1. Assign one employee to password management; this person should be the only one who

knows the password and enters login information on each device.

2. Set a schedule for changing passwords on a weekly, biweekly, or monthly basis.

3. List the devices that authorized restaurant staff can use to access the restaurant's social media

accounts (for example only work phones, not on personal phones)

Brand standards - Every store has brand requirements that must be adhered to for the

company's brand to be represented consistently across social media. Below is the list of the brand

guidelines for advertising that must be followed at all times, such as:

1. Colors associated with a brand

2. Fonts with logos

3. Brand individuality (serious, quirky, fun, informative)

4. Imagery
72

Regulations on copyright - Because social media is a public platform, sharing

information on it is subject to a variety of laws and regulations. Mention the many copyright

rules that must be observed when uploading content on social media platforms,

and make sure that nothing is shared without correct permits and licensing to avoid future

legal action.

Crisis management strategy - Even with various protections in place, there is still a

chance that something will go wrong. A crisis response plan lays out the procedures for dealing

with these scenarios. It ought to include:

1. Assessment and identification of the severity of the situation guidelines

Who should be contacted in the event of an emergency? (Store manager, owner, social

media manager, legal team)

2. Action plan to be implemented in response to the scenario Businesses may be

proactive and begin damage control efforts as soon as feasible if they have a crisis

management plan in place. This aids in speedy situation control and decreases stress for

the person in charge

Health and Safety Regulations

The health and safety of customers and employees should be a major priority in any

organization. This is certainly relevant when operating a physical store. Accessthetics is

committed to ensuring that everyone who visits the store may relax in a safe and comfortable

environment, regulations may vary depending on the location and governing laws. Some

common health and safety regulations for a clothing store include:

73

1. Fire safety: It is important to have a proper fire safety plan in place, including regular

fire drills, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and clear escape routes.

2. Electrical safety: All electrical equipment should be properly installed and maintained

to prevent potential hazards such as electrical fires and electric shocks.

3. Slip and fall prevention: Clothing stores should maintain safe and clear pathways,

clean up any spills or debris promptly, and ensure that carpets and rugs are securely in

place to prevent slips and falls.

4. Ergonomic safety: Store employees should be trained in proper lifting techniques, and

workplace environments should be arranged to minimize the risk of repetitive strain

injuries.

5. Ventilation and air quality: Clothing stores should have proper ventilation to avoid

exposure to any hazardous chemicals, dust, or other contaminants that may be present in

the store.

6. Security: Measures should be in place to protect employees and customers from any

potential threats, such as theft or violent incidents.

74

These are just some of the basic health and safety regulations that a clothing store should

follow. It is important to regularly review and update policies to ensure that they are

up-to-date and in compliance with any changing regulations and guidelines.

strategy specifying the causes, activities, and charity for which you will volunteer
77

CHAPTER XI

DEVELOPMENT, MILESTONES AND EXIT PLAN

A. Long Term Business Goals

There is no way for businesses to be built without any sort of set goals nor

planning. In the business world, there is a wide variety of ways to flourish the attainment

of a successful entrepreneurial venture, one being short-term business goals. Short-term

business goals are a set of goals in which the organization plans to execute for a set

period of time, with it taking only weeks to months, and does not exceed a year. While on

the other hand, long-term business goals are exactly different in nature with short-term

business goals as it takes more organization, planning and strategies to accomplish. Thus,

long-term business goals are achievable after years of working towards them. However,

both short-term and long-term business goals are required to be used by the entrepreneurs

since short-term goals work towards achieving the long-term goals and so forth. This

gives clarity to what the business needs their attention towards, identifying what needs to

be prioritized on and revealing what problems may arise while trying to achieve them.

To quote Yogi Berra, "Without a plan, even the most brilliant business can get lost.

You need to have goals, create milestones and have a strategy in place to set yourself up

for success." This deeply emphasizes the importance of having any sort of goals that can

further achieve success, a way for a business to have eagerness to move forward towards

a certain direction that is beneficial to its interests.

AccEsthetics work towards providing accessibility to high quality accessories and

aesthetically pleasing clothing the consumers expect from the business proper.
78

AccEsthetics offers an environment in which the owners have engineered to be

exceptionally comfortable as they shop around the facility, giving an experience they may

want to experience again, further establishing good relations and entertaining any inquiry

as part of customer service.

business and furthering its growth, earning more profit, always providing more wonderful

service, as well as establishing connections with customers and strengthening them. On

top of that, the goals that the business are planning to achieve are as follows:

● AccEsthetics will continue to maintain the quality of its products and services to

its customers, as to retain their satisfaction and interest to come back for more.

oversaturate the area. With eventual successes, the business strives to go

nationwide, and then be known globally.

● AccEsthetics will increase its staff's income every 2 years, up to 12%, so as to

keep up with the inflation of other goods.

● AccEsthetics plans to support all types of charities, fundraisers, feeding programs,

and any other community support. The less fortunate, offering students funding

through scholarships, donating to the research to eliminate dangerous illnesses,

the physically and mentally impaired, and more.

79

B. Growth Strategy

company succeed over the long term and advance the long-term goals of its owners. You

can accomplish this by putting these growth techniques into practice:

access. They can browse/shop anywhere as long as they have an internet connection that

they can use. This website help customers to know if the accessthetic have a

promo/discount available on this day so that they can prepare to ship out goods with an

affordable price products

with their decision to purchase from us, Accessthetic will be sure to improve the quality

of the product by hiring and training a talented team of designers, pattern makers, and

production workers to create new versions that relate to the current trend.

Market Expansion - The business owners hope to grow their company by

opening more branches in other parts of Bulacan. As a result, the company will build

popularity and eventually attract potential clients. Having another branch is difficult since

it necessitates market research for new target markets, local demand, and fierce local

competition. However, this can significantly aid in the expansion of the company.
80

C. Milestones

Milestones are a necessary component of a sound business strategy since they

ensure compliance with the milestones set out by the apparel sector.

Keeping Good Relationship with Customers - Typically, a company's product

serves as its cornerstone. It plays a key role in both how they differentiate themselves

from rival businesses and why customers keep coming back. Accessthetic offers the best

clothing and accessories since they want devoted and returning consumers. The

company's founders also show appreciation to clients and project a friendly aura, putting

clients at rest and reassuring them of the services the business can provide. Hearing and

accepting feedback from them is one of the ways to keep a good relationship with them.

Set a Target Sales - Setting up a monthly sales goal, regardless of how small, will

encourage business owners to increase performance and aid in the establishment of a

stable and sustainable apparel industry.

Making good partnerships - AccEsthetic is open to further collaborations. The

owners of Accessthetic are preparing for a significant development of their company,

thus they will want assistance and organization. That will surely benefit all parties

involved.

D. Exit Plan
81

This gives information about what might happen to the company should the

business owners run into a situation that negatively impacts their sales. An exit strategy is

a technique for business owners to know what options they may use in the future, if

necessary. This does not imply that they are preparing for the worst.

Selling Business - Accessthetic to create a business plan that emphasizes

inventory management optimization and highlights the distinctive features of your brand

or designs in order to find the best entrepreneur for the company and make sure that it

can continue to run the entrepreneur partner with the necessary expertise, prior

experience, and interest.

Find Services of Professionals - to seek professional assistance. To assist us with

the exit process, attorneys, accountants, and valuation specialists. That can aid us in

negotiations, marketing, appraisal, and ensuring that all legal and financial requirements

are met.

Invest the income of the business - If the Accessthetic owners have a reliable

source of income and can simply use the company as a source of income even if they no

longer operate it, this strategy may be used. The Accountant or Accessthetic's chosen

entrepreneur will take over administration of the business. As a result, the shareholders

make money from the company they founded and have the option to grow it or start a

new one.
82

Communication with Other Employees - Throughout the exit process,

Accessthetic will keep lines of communication open and honest with its staff, clients,

suppliers, and other stakeholders. Update on developments, handle issues, and offer

assistance as needed. This will support preserving relationships both during and after the

business's exit.
