INTRODUCTION
So many different factors that effect of the student performance in academic

areas and one of these is absenteeism. It takes place when students are already
uneasy with the pressures coming from their daily school activities. When a student
misses a day of school he/she must have lost the chance to hear to others, interpret
and analyzing the lessons or joins the interaction within the class. This loss is being
rooted to two different causes and varying factors under these courses. The injury might
be a family situation or an individual problem. Then, under these courses are the factors
that contribute to a child’s regular truancy. These may finance concerns, disability,
psychotic imbalance, poor school climate, family health, transportation problems, drug
and alcohol use, and differing community attitude towards education. Attitude is one
important building block of a person particularly the students to achieve their aspirations
successfully or sometimes experience hopelessness and dejection.
Students have different characteristics and orientations that need to be realized

and understood so that teachers can maintain, impose and implement classroom
discipline strategies that would prevent or correct improper behavior. Academic
problems of students come in various
Forms such as difficulty in specific subject, lack of motivation and study habits, strict
teachers and failed major examination.
Absenteeism in one angle view point is one of the most common causes of
degrading performances of the students. Especially to those who are included in the
advance intelligence curriculum, absenteeism causes a great lose and may result to
giving up an aimed position. Social interaction of the students within the classroom
involves the teachers and their classmates where teaching and learning activities are
being facilitated which need to be improved and addressed some factors that may
somehow influence the learning process. It can also cause social repletion especially
when a class is composed of a great numbers of students. This habits of the students
can cause a dilemma to the school administrator when big figures are involve and may
decrease the school’s performance.
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Absence nowadays cannot be separated from the individual who are called a student.
This absence of phenomena, it is easy to see even likened it has become a necessity in the
nature of a student. So it is not surprising if this habits continues to fall proceeds among school
students as example of secondary even at university and primary level, the problem still persist.
Therefore, we feel that this problem is very serious issue in public education like Juan G.
Macaraeg National High School that the researcher take responsibility to investigate and find a
solution to this problem from continuing to happen. At the same times, the researcher know
accurate information about these problems and can be able to cope with this problem from the
root.
Statement of the Problem:
This study has the following objectives:
1. To determine the Demographic Profile of the Respondents.
2. To determine the pre-dominant cause of Absenteeism in Grade 12- TVL

Students in Juan G. Macaraeg National High High School Students.
3. To determine the main effect of the Absenteeism among grade 12 - TVL
Students on Juan G. Macaraeg National High School Student in the academic
Performance.
Scope and Limitation
This study was focused on the effect of absenteeism in the academic

performance among Grade 12- TVL Students In Juan G. Macaraeg National High
School
This study is talk about the causes and effect of absenteeism in the academic
areas among Grade 12- TVL Students In Juan G. Macaraeg National High School
METHODS
Design
The use of survey approach and utilization of descriptive method was

observed in this research study. The use of the certain approach was to that it
corresponds to the main objectives of this research that is to determine the effects of
absenteeism in the academic performances among Grade 12- TVL in Juan G.
Macaraeg National High School.
A survey questionnaire was distributed to be answered by the students.
Participants
The respondents of the study were the 26 Grade 12- E.I.M Senior High
School Students from 1 section only. The students answered the questionnaire in
separate ways. The students were given question to be answered according to their
situation as student and some of the questionnaire form are checklist.

According to (Teasly, 2004) absenteeism is a period of time when a student does not
attend school students who do not attend school will generally fall behind their classmates in
their academic success (Ford & Sutphen, 1996) they have fewer opportunity to learn the
materials that will help them to succeed (Epstein & Sheldon, 2002) the focus of student
absenteeism ranges from early schooling until adolescent years (Ford & Sutphen, 1996).
Absenteeism in students affects their school performance especially when they are in a
group or teamwork
