Expectations for interactions for teachers: The teacher will communicate with both the
students and parents of students via email when needed, Remind messages will be sent out every
Sunday afternoon to preview students and parents for the week ahead, and Zoom meetings, if
needed, for conferences. These links, codes, and information can be found at the top of the
syllabus.
Expectations for interactions for students: Students can submit questions, concerns, and
comments to the teacher by reaching out through Remind. My office hours are from 7 a.m. to 6
p.m. If you send a message outside of this timeframe, there is no guarantee that I will send a
message back until the opening of my next office hours. If you need to make an appointment
with me, you can email me, and we can come up with a time to meet through Zoom or in person.
Appropriate behavior criteria for students: Students are expected to behave in the classroom
and follow all class rules. Students will not use foul language, cheat on assignments, make
negative comments toward their peers, or bully another student, with no exceptions. Students are
expected to be honest and up to their best manners in class. Students are also expected to come to
class prepared every day. Not following class rules will result in the following: a warning, office
visit, parent-teacher meeting, in-school suspension, out-of-school suspension, and expulsion if
unwanted behavior occurs too much and creates too much of a distraction or problem for other
students. Students will also be expected to follow all rules in the school handbook.
Due dates for all assignments: The assignments for this unit are listed below with the due dates.
● Assignment #1: Padlet preview on the standard. There is no due date, but must be
reviewed before and throughout the standard lesson.
○ The students will use the link provided on the Weebly website to access and
review the resources and information about the Middle East and the water crisis
issue.
● Assignment #2: Quizlet over terms and definitions. There is no due date for the
assignment but is required to review while in the lesson to ensure the students are
learning new vocabulary and academic language for the standards.
○ The students will take 15 minutes to review the key terms and definitions during
the lesson as an activity while the teacher is preparing the extra learning spots for
the students to review.
● Assignment #3: Kahoot game. Due 12-10-2023.
○ The students will use the link provided on the Weebly website to access the
Kahoot! challenge game to test the student's knowledge of the information
covered in the lesson presentations and previous activities.
● Assignment #4: Google Earth Activity. Due 12-12-2023
○ The students will create a Google Doc and answer the questions provided in the
instructions of the activity in their own words by the due date while looking at the
virtual map in the link provided.
● Unit Quiz: Final Unit Quiz. Due 12-15-2023
○ The students will use the link provided to access the final unit quiz and answer it
in their own words. Students are expected to answer honestly and with integrity
(no cheating).
How feedback will be given: The instructor will give the students feedback on their activities,
quizzes, and assignments through different apps and messaging options. For activities that will
be completed on Google Docs or other submission-type assignments, students will receive
feedback directly with comments left on the documents or website they used to complete the
assignment. Other ways the students will receive feedback is through their grading submissions;
under their grade, an area will be open for the instructor to leave comments under the grade for
assignments. The final way for students to receive feedback will be through messaging such as
email, reminders, or verbal communication.
Social Media: For this class, the teacher will have a Facebook profile page that will be private
and deleted at the end of each semester to start a new one for an incoming class. This will be the
primary form of communication and sharing classroom information and activities for this
classroom.
