There are many events and occasions in my life which I treat as important
events, and out of those, my admission to Harvard University was a very
special occasion for me. Since the university is located in Massachusetts I
would say this occasion took place there.
I got admitted to this university in 2014, and I had to compete with
hundreds of other students to be accepted. It is one of the most famous
universities in our country, and for a single position, more than 25
candidates compete in the entrance exam.
My future career, profession, economic condition and social status had been
shaped to a great extent by this event. If I had been admitted to a different
university in a different faculty, things in my life would have been different.
That's why I consider this event as a very significant event in my life.

My elder sister got married last November and it was a very

special occasion for me. The marriage ceremony was held in
an open ground which was the key attraction. A large number
of guests were invited to the ceremony. All of my relatives
were there. I also invited some of my friends. So, it was a
great gathering for all of us. Many of the relatives arrived
there whom I met after a long time. Everyone was happy with
the event. It was special to me because my sister was happy
to have her life-partner.

Celebrating my 19th birthday was a special event for me. In
fact, it was a surprise for me by my friends and family
members. They all kept it a secret to me and so, it was special.
They brought the birthday cake in my bedroom and it was just
after 12.00. They also brought some candles and presents for
me marking the occasion. I actually had no idea about their
plan and was amazed at their cordiality. I realized how much
they loved me. It was special as all of them remembered the
date and accordingly made plans to celebrate it.
READING 4
I’m going to tell you about a very special event in American culture, the
sixteenth birthday which we refer to as the “Sweet Sixteen”. This tends to
be an extravagant birthday party, as it is a rite of passage (a big life
event) into adulthood. Now, let me tell you about mine.

Well, since my mother passed away just three years before my sixteenth
birthday, my two aunts, cousins, and sister wanted to make sure that this
was an unforgettable day for me. To my surprise, my aunts booked a
limousine for us girls to go have an upscale dinner at the downtown
harbor in Baltimore, Maryland. I put on my finest dress, which was a deep
navy blue color that accentuated my eyes, with a pair of shiny silver heels
that matched with my jewelry. I felt on top of the world!
READING 5
Although I have celebrated plenty of significant events in my life, I would like
to specifically talk about a birthday party that I had organized for my younger
sister. In 2016, she entered her teen years and turned thirteen years old. I
celebrated her 13th birthday with utmost pomp and show to mark her new
and turning phase in life.

Diving deeper into the details, I would clearly define it as a family dinner
arranged at home involving my family and some of my sister’s friends. I
invested my best efforts to make it the most unforgettable event of her life.
From the decorations to a uniquely designed cake and some authentic dishes,
I looked after everything by myself. To make the environment cozier, I had
arranged for a karaoke night as well. In the end, while my sister cut the cake,
we all sang a beautiful and noisy Happy Birthday song.
