If you have cell phones, then you can record audio. But you may need to check to see
that your apps can save and share the files in an MP3 format. Or you may be using
school-issued laptops, or your own. Below are a few of the tools and apps you might
consider during your planning and producing stages.
Podcast Requirements
1. Create a document called PODCAST PLAN. Tell me:
a. Your focus question(s) or Claim
b. What are the speaking roles of each person?
c. Who are you going to interview? Or what clip are you going use.
d. Will there be storytelling? What stories will be included?
e. Will there be sound effects and music? Make a list of what you want/need.
f. How will you begin the podcast?
g. How will you end it?
h. What is the title of your podcast?
2. (Still part of PODCAST PLAN) Create an outline which will give detailed accounts for the time and order of
events. Use the template below. Modify as needed.
All this will account for 50% of your midterm grade. The
remaining 50% will come from the finished product.

(Still part of PODCAST PLAN) Create an outline which will give detailed accounts for the time and order of

Use the following outline to plan the discussion of your podcast. It’s important to carefully structure the
discussion, as it needs to be understandable and engaging to people outside your group. Try to create an
informative, thoughtful, and engaging show.
The first step is to identify the main talking points for your subject - what are the topics that you want to cover?
Only three talking points are included in this template, so add more as needed. Next, identify the content that
will be discussed for each talking point, and determine the speakers. The bullet points are elements that should
be included in each section and aren’t in a specific order. Play around with the order of the content, as well as
the style of your podcast.
Write the content of the talking points in short descriptions and avoid fully scripting. Reading lines and scripts
will be obvious to the audience, and make it sound like you’re doing just that - reading, instead of discussing.
For a more conversational podcast, determine the content for discussion, and speak in a free-form fashion.
When switching from one talking point to another, craft a segue that smoothly transitions the topics.
Always rehearse the discussion before your final recording. Write under
descriptions of sections
