5.EQUIPMENT
5.1.TEST MACHINE
(Example of machine, see diagrams and photographs in Appendix 1)
It includes:
• a metal mount on which glass run channel a to sell in lump bracket test-tube,
• a fastening device of the test-tube on to sell in lump bracket test-tube,
• an electrical control ensuring a to-and-fro movement of to sell in lump bracket test-tube with a scale of
displacement of 40 mm at the speed of 0,02 m/s ± 5 %,
• a mobile arm bracket of the tool (5.2.) (see dimensions in Appendix 2),
• one or several additional masses allowing the abrasion tool (5.2.) to apply to the sample a mass of
2 400 g ± 5 g.
5.2.ABRASION TOOL
(See Appendix 2)
It includes/understands:
• a caliper,
• an articulated abrasive door-paper guaranteeing parallelism between the abrasive paper and the surface of
the test-tube,
• abrasive paper with the water of international pimple P 220 supplier reference LW 620 Flexiback If, which is
cut out in rectangle of 40 mm ± 1 mm 20 mm ± 0.5 mm of limited-liability company PREMINES, Adresse:

5.5.CONDITIONED ROOM
At 23 °C ±2 °C and 50 % ± 5 % of relative humidity.
5.6.CRISTALLIZER
5.7.GREY SCALE
For the evaluation of shading on the test-tubes, this scale is defined by standard NF IN 20105-A02.
Use the scale with 9 degrees on black board.
5.8.COLORIMETER
For the determination of the trichromatic coordinates according to the test methods D15 5083 and D15 5084.
5.9.MASK
Neutral gray paperboard (charter for RENAULT) or black (for PSA), in which are practised windows of dimensions
+0
30 mm ± 1 mm x 30 mm ± 1 mm (identical to dimensions of the grey scale) spaced between them of 20 − 1 mm.
The scope of the windows must be painted with more close to the color of the face to aspect.
This gray charter for RENAULT presents a factor of reflexion of 18 % in the band of 420 nm - 700 nm. The product
is available at CST - 22/24 avenue de Saint Ouen - 75018 Paris - France (Phone: 01.53.04.44 .00. - Fax

7.REPRESENTATIVENESS OF SAMPLES
Specific chapter for the tests for PSA Peugeot Citroën.
The test specimens or samples must be representative of the scale to be characterised. To provide this
representativeness, it is necessary to find out the basic characteristics of the population studied. The selection
criteria for the test specimens or samples must be specified in the Test Report (RE), in conformity with norme
A10 0156.
In case of doub about sampling, contact the PSA service DTI/DITV/PMXP/ECH/PMLD in order to know the
directives to be followed.
9.METHOD OF OPERATION
Note: Repeat 3 times at least the test (3 different test-tubes or facilities).
• Furnish the face towards test-tube with a band of adhesive tape (5.3.) and to stick the test-tube on to sell in
lump bracket such as:
• The adhesive tape stuck to the back of the test-tube coincides with the position of abrasive paper (diagram
hereafter),
• The beginning of abrasion begins to approximately 5 mm from the two with dimensions ones from the test-
tube.
• Fix the tool for abrasion at the end of the arm.
• Add the additional mass so that the tool for attrition (5.2.) applies the mass defined in paragraph 5.1.
• Dip beforehand (5 minutes) abrasive paper in water (5.11.) contained in a crystallizer (5.6.) and drain using
absorbent paper (5.4.).
• Cover back with the abrasive paper of adhesive tape (5.3.).
• Stick abrasive paper on the axis of symmetry of the tool for abrasion (see diagram above).
• Gently position the arm equipped with the tool for abrasion in contact with the surface of the test-tube. The
fulcrum pin of the tool for abrasion must remain perpendicular to the length of the test-tube.
• Actuate the electrical control in such way that the tool for abrasion carries out only one change-over on the
surface of the test-tube.
• Change the abrasive paper rectangle after each test.
Note: Eliminate the test-tubes which do not have a homogeneous surface after abrasion. With the need, start again
the test so as to obtain 3 exploitable test-tubes at least. Moreover carry out the test in the same direction for
all the test-tubes.

12.TEST REPORT
For the tests for PSA Peugeot Citroën, the form and the minimal contents of the test report are defined in the
standard A10 0156.
In addition to the results obtained, the test report must indicate:
• assembly reference parts of this method,
• mode of taking away of the test-tubes (on pads, parts…),
• complete assembly reference parts of material tested, its grain, its possible finish (painting, etc),
• locate and specify the samples tested and sides
• operational details not envisaged in the method as well as the possible incidents likely to have acted on the
results.
• For RENAULT:
• The results of quotation on a gray scale must be to them indicated for the two directions.
• To specify if quotations were carried out with or without reference model of gray.
• For PSA Peugeot Citroën:
• To note the evolution of brillancy (Delta L*).
