Jesus Is My
Shepherd

"The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want" (Psalm

23:1)

MODULE 1
LESSON 1

MODULE 1 - CLASS 1 JESUS IS MY

SHEPHERD
Annexure A: What is Destiny Training?
"Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested
by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and
accurately dividing
[rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth." 2 Timothy 2:15 (AMP)
Destiny Training is Word-based, Kingdom-focused empowerment through teaching to step into the God-dream and
purpose for our lives. More than attempting to deposit new information into students’ minds, Destiny Training
endeavors to draw out, to lead forth that which God has already deposited in us, His children:
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew [and] approved of you [as My chosen instrument],
and before you were born I separated and set you apart, consecrating you; [and] I appointed
you as a prophet to the nations." Jeremiah 1:5 (AMP)

"LISTEN TO me, O isles and coastlands, and hearken, you peoples from afar. The Lord has
called me from the womb; from the body of my mother He has named my name. And He has
made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of His hand has He hid me and made me
a polished arrow; in His quiver has He kept me close and concealed me. And [the Lord] said
to me, You are My servant, Israel [you who strive with God and with men and prevail], in
whom I will be glorified." Isaiah 49:1 (AMP)

God’s heart is first and foremost for the salvation of all.

"This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to
be saved and to understand the truth." 1 Timothy 2:3 (NLT)
Jesus came and made the ultimate sacrifice so that this dream, to give all of humanity access to salvation, could be realised.
Following in His footsteps, we are all called to become just like Jesus, doing what He did in pursuit of successfully executing
the mandate with which He left His disciples and all that would follow after them.
"For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so
that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters." Romans 8:29
(NLT)

"Jesus came and told his disciples, 'I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth.
19Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20Teach these new disciples to obey all the
commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of
the age.'” Matthew 28:18 -20 (NLT)

teach from a deep-seated personal conviction with regards to the vision and God’s plan for our lives. It is presented as 6 module

INTRODUCTION

David was one of the greatest kings of the people of Israel. He found the key that opened the door to success in all areas of
his life, when he learnt to have a personal relationship with God from an early age. While confronting King Saul about his
disobedience, the prophet Samuel said, "The Lord has sought out a man after his own heart and appointed him leader
of his people, because you have not kept the Lords command“ (Samuel 13:14). When Samuel

wanted to know who Saul’s successor would be, he went to the house of Jesse, the father of David. After being introduced to
seven of Jesse's sons, he saw David, and it was as if a beam of light illuminated the house. “Then the Lord said, ‘Rise and
anoint him; he is the one.’ So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence his brothers, and from
that day on the Spirit of the Lord came upon David in power" (1 Samuel16:12b-13). Saul's servants, while reporting
to the king about David, said, “I have seen a son of Jesse of Bethlehem who knows how to play the harp. He is a
brave man and a warrior. He speaks well and is a fine-looking man. And the Lord is with him“(1 Samuel 16:18).

Everyone close to David knew that God was with him. David had probably met God whilst out in the fields, taking care of
some of his father's sheep. Those of us who know the Father personally know that we met Him, simply because the Lord
chose the correct moment to reveal Himself to us.

1. JESUS LISTENS TO PRAYER

At the annual convention held in Singapore, there were twenty-three different nations represented from across Asia,
including a pastor from Pakistan. When I had the opportunity to interview him, my question was, “How did it come
about that as a Muslim you made a decision to accept Jesus into your life?” His answer was:
“I was the firstborn in a Muslim family. In my city, Dicran, I got to know someone who I later discovered
was a Christian missionary. His name was Er-On. I began to visit his house, and he started to teach me
the Koran; but, whilst studying with him, he spoke about a Jesus who was different from all the other
prophets. If I asked questions about Jesus, he would teach me that Jesus was different and that He was
above all the other prophets. Later I realised that this was his religion; and I thought that even though this
was his religion, mine was in the Koran. I refused to accept his teachings.

Two years later, I finished my high school studies, and one day I took a boat trip with some of my friends.
They were jumping into the water, swimming and returning to the boat, and I also wanted to show my
courage. People from the woodlands in my country see themselves as very brave, and it is necessary to
demonstrate it in some way. I jumped into the water as far as I could, but people from the woodlands do
not know how to swim; therefore, when I tried to come back, I found it extremely difficult. I was drowning! I
prayed in the name of Allah, in the name of Mohammed, in the name of all the Islamic gods, but none of
them was able to help me. It was then that I remembered that my friend used to pray in the name of
Jesus, and I said. “Lord, help me; if You help me, I will surrender my life to You, Jesus.” At that very
moment I fell unconscious. When I came out and opened my eyes, I was back on the boat. One of my
friends told me that I had been drowning, but that when they turned around to rescue me, they saw
something was supporting me in the water. I immediately knew that it could only be the hand of Jesus.
This was my first baptism and my very first supernatural experience, and I promised myself, "I will do
something great for Him." I experienced a radical conversion to the Lord. I began winning people for God,
and He opened the doors for me to go back to my community to evangelise to Muslims."

2. JESUS, A MAN BEYOND COMPARISON

The one man who has impacted the whole world throughout every age is known as Christ Jesus. Society has recognized
many men as great because of their conquests, achievements, political abilities, religious or pious lives, their philosophies
and world famous doctrines; some are eminent moralists, others are great conquerors, excellent political, military or
religious strategists. However, none can be compared to Jesus.

"All that He has done, no other man could ever equal; only someone who
is God could have accomplished the work that the Lord Jesus did."

He is the wonderful Creator of everything that exists. The Word of God says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the
Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were
made; without him nothing was made that has been made” (John 1:1-3). “He is the image of the invisible God,
the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and
invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities, all things were created by him and for him. He is
before all things, and in him all things hold together” (Colossians 1:15-17).

3.BORN IN THE APPOINTED TIME

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be

on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).

The apostle Paul said. “But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a women, born under law”
(Galatians 4:4).

We find the account of Jesus Christ's birth in the book of Matthew 1:18. Our God is a God of timing. Just at the right time,
the Holy Spirit chose an ordinary, God- fearing woman to carry Jesus, the Saviour of the world, in her womb. Mary's
pregnancy surprised her fiancé, but God spoke to Joseph in dreams and he obeyed God. Both of them understood that the
baby was Emmanuel, God with us. Jesus was the answer to a series of prophecies given through the patriarchs, through
Moses, through the Psalmists and the Prophets, ever since the very first couple disobeyed God (Genesis 3:15).

4. JESUS IS GOD, AND LIVED ON EARTH AS A MAN

“Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is great. He appeared in a body,

was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the
nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory” (1 Timothy 3:16).
The Apostle Paul does not present this subject as a controversy, but as an undeniable truth. “The Word became flesh and
made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only who came from the Father,
full of grace and truth" (John1:14). If Jesus is God, then it is worth the effort to know Him and to make Him known. “For
whoever finds me finds life and receives favour from the Lord. But whoever fails to find me harms himself; all who
hate me love death” (Proverbs 8:35-36).

Jesus brought confusion among His adversaries when He said that before Abraham, He already was. The teachers of the law
asked how this could be, as He was not yet even 50 years old. How could He know Abraham who had lived 2000 years
before? Jesus is God. He took the form of a man to teach all people about the coming glory. The author of the book of
Hebrews declared, “Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: “Sacrifice and offering you not desire, but a
body you prepared for me” (Hebrews 10:5)

Know Him as a Person

In order to redeem mankind, God needed someone human, but untouched by original sin. After searching both heaven and
earth without finding anyone, He assigned this mission to His Son Jesus, known as the Word of God that became flesh (John
1:14). He was a human being just as any other person, but without the stain of sin.

He sat down to rest (John 4:6).

He looked for a place to sleep on the boat (Mark 4:38)

He cried out “l am thirsty” (John 19:28)

He was tempted by the enemy when He was hungry (Matthew 4:2).

He was tempted in everything but did not sin (Hebrews 4:14-15

Jesus our Deliverer

“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:36)
“The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work” (1 John 3:8b).

Being God, He became man (Philippians 2:5-8).

Being rich, He became poor (2 Corinthians 8:9).

Being holy, He became a curse (Galatians 3:13).

Being righteous, He became sin. (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Being healed, He took our sickness and our pain (Isaiah 53:4-5)

Being blameless, He died with the wicked (Isaiah 53:9).

Being perfect, He was broken for us (Isaiah 53:10).

God created man with a mind able to think and reason, making him intellectually superior to every other creature. Not only
did God give man intelligence, but He also made him a living soul and spirit. The spirit of a human being is capable of
communicating directly with God; nevertheless, sin brought a spiritual death upon us. In His mercy Jesus came to give us
eternal life.

Receive the abundant life He offers

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; l have come that they may have life, and have it to the full”
(John 10:10). Humanity was deceived by the adversary and was destined for eternal condemnation. The Son of God,
moved by the Father's love, offered His life. By so doing, He rescued us and, at the same time, gave us abundant life which
we can only find in Him. When the apostles wanted to know the way, Jesus explicitly told them, “I am the way and the
truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). Responding to Nicodemus’ questions,
Jesus said, ‘‘I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.
Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, "You must
be born again” (John 3:5-7). When speaking to the woman at the well Jesus said, “Everyone who drinks this water will
be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will
become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life” (John 4: 13-14). While teaching the Jews, He told them,
“You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the
Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life” (John 5:39-40). When speaking with the
Jews, Jesus declared, “For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world. “Sir,”
they said, “from now on give us this bread.” Then Jesus declare, “l am the bread of life. He who comes to me will
never go hungry and he who believes in me will never be thirsty” (John 6:33-35). At the Feast of Tabernacles, Jesus
raised His voice and said, “Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from
within him.” By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the
Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not been glorified” (John 7:38-39).
Be Inspired by Him
Jesus never wrote a book, but he inspired many writers. He never sang a song, but He has inspired great singers and
musicians. He never studied medicine, but He has healed millions of people through the ages. He never founded a university,
but he has given more lessons than any other man. “No one has ever written about Jesus as much as the Christians have,
because He is God” (Anonymous).

CONCLUSION

As Christians we possess an extraordinary treasure:

We know that Jesus is the word of God; the Word who was from the very beginning, and became man. We know and
believe that in him is life, that he is the light of the world and that whoever follows him will not walk in darkness. He is the
Bread of Life. Jesus Christ is the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in him, even though he is dead, Christ will
resurrect him to life.

What Is Vision?
Objectives

Module 2- Lesson 1
1. To understand what the vision is.

2. To know your place in the revival.

3. To recognise God as the greatest visionary and Jesus as His best dream.

Ptr. Kem Erlina

4. To understand the origins of the Vision in the Word and Promises of God
INTRODUCTION

Vision is the idea of God revealed to the mind of man so that he

can carry it out.

Everything that exists originated from a vision that God had of Creation. He has put the same capability to have vision in
each person, and He expects us to fight to achieve our dreams by using our creative ideas. Vision is the motor that has
propelled prominent leaders to shape the destiny of whole nations, overcoming all kinds of adversities. The concept of vision
has been around since the beginning of creation as it was God's idea that inspired the realization of all things, including His
masterpiece - mankind.

“Then God said, 'Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness”
(Genesis 1:26).

1. GOD WANTS TO COUNT ON US

I am fully assured that God wants to use believers in these end times as burning torches, to carry His fire to different places in
the world. To achieve this, it is necessary to raise an army of courageous people, willing to pay a high price to see the
Kingdom of God established promptly on the earth. If each one of us commits to this Vision, we will be able to see His
Kingdom established much sooner than we expect. Jesus formed His own brave army, capable of bearing spiritual weapons.
He started by raising up twelve men, passionate for the things of God — twelve men of prayer, full of Jesus’ presence, who
testified, “We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and
truth” (John 1:14)

2. IT IS TIME FOR WORLDWIDE REVIVAL

Although two thousand years have passed since Jesus started forming His army, the Church has only ever grown
sporadically. There have been outbreaks of spiritual awakening in certain areas, regions, and nations, but we have never seen
a worldwide revival since the times of the apostles.
Why not? Perhaps you already know the answer; the problem is the spirit of individualism. Despite this, the Lord Jesus
managed to set a precedent for working in a team. The problem of individualism was already understood in the days of
Habakkuk, who asked why God had “made people like the fish in the sea, like the sea creatures that have no ruler”
(Habakkuk 1:14). The prophet was worried because there was no vision of government; everyone looked out for their own
good, clouding the vision of God in their lives. He later added, “I will stand at my watch and station myself on the
ramparts; I will look to see what he will say to me, and what answer l am to give to this complaint” (Habakkuk
2:1). He had determined to persevere until he received an answer from the Lord. "Then the Lord answered me and said,
"Record the vision and inscribe it on tablets, that the one who reads it may run. For the vision is yet for the
appointed time; it hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; for it will certainly come,
it will not delay” (Habakkuk 2:2-3 NASB).
God confirmed to the prophet that a vision or government would come and following that would come the greatest
worldwide revival.
“For the earth will be filled with the knowledge
of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea”
(Habakkuk 2:14).

3. JESUS WAS THE REDEMTIVE DREAM OF GOD FOR THE WORLD

The Lord Jesus was passionate about His vision: to redeem humanity from certain eternal condemnation.

He is God. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John
1:1).

He is the Word of God who became man. “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.
We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father full of grace and
truth” (John 1:14).

He is the offering of God for redemption. “Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said:
‘Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; with burnt offerings and sin
offerings you were not pleased.’ Then l said, ‘Here l am — it is written about me in the scroll -— l
have come to do your will, 0 God’” (Hebrews 10:5-7)

He is the manifestation of the fullness of divine grace. “For the law was given through Moses; grace
and truth came through Jesus Christ” (John 1:17).

Only through Him can we know the heavenly Father. “No one has ever seen God, but God the One
and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him known” (John 1:18).

He is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of me world (John 1:29). There has never been, nor will
there ever be, any hope for mankind apart from Him. Jesus set out to save us, paying a high price by shedding His
blood on the Cross of Calvary. It is our responsibility to take His vision and reproduce it in others, sharing His
message of salvation. "Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter”
(Proverbs 24:11)

4. THE VISION ORIGINATES FROM THE WORD

Everything begins with the revelation of His Word:
“In the beginning was the Word” (John 1:1a).

“And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light” (Genesis 1:3).

5. THE VISION ORIGINATES FROM THE WORD

Everything begins with the revelation of His Word:
“In the beginning was the Word” (John 1:1a).

“And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light” (Genesis 1:3).

Noah built the ark because God told him to (Genesis 6:13-14).

Abraham left his land because God told him to, and he became a channel of blessing for the families of the earth
(Genesis 12:1-3).

Moses delivered the people of Israel because God told him to “So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to
bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt” (Exodus 3:10).

Zechariah was temporarily mute because he doubted the words of the angel (Luke 1:19-20).

Mary was called blessed; she gained God’s favour when she believed the angel’s words, and she was the instrument
that the Lord used to make His own dream become flesh in the person of Jesus (Luke 1:30-35).

The Holy Spirit had revealed to Simeon that he would not die before he had seen the Messiah (Luke 2:29-32).

Two of John the Baptist’s disciples were impacted by their leader’s words who, upon seeing Jesus passing by,
exclaimed, “Look, the Lamb of God!” Andrew and John took this as the revelation that Jesus was the Messiah and
decided to follow Him (John 1:35-39).

6. THE POWER OF THE PROMISE

A promise from God in His Word is like a signed cheque from Him.
“Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that
through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the
corruption in the world caused by evil desires” (2 Peter 1:4)
In 1990, I asked the Lord for direction regarding how to carry out the ministry. In response, He opened my understanding;
what He revealed to me not only revolutionized our lives and the lives of our disciples, but also gave direction to our
ministry. God asked me, “How many people did Jesus disciple?" In my mind I started to recall the moments when He was
surrounded by the multitudes. I started to understand that one day He was with one group, and the next day with another, but
that He maintained constant contact with His team of twelve. God's voice spoke to my heart, saying, '‘If you disciple twelve
people, and if each one of them in turn does the same with another twelve who will later do the same with another twelve,
the growth will be exponential." That day, the scales fell from my eyes and I was able to see the great growth that the Lord
wanted to give me. Thus was born what is now known as G12. G stands for Government, and the number 12 also signifies
Government.
Although Jesus could have invested His life in the multitudes, He preferred to work on forming the characters of twelve very
different people. Just like the potter who works with the clay, He formed the character of each one of them for three and a
half years, until they could say like Job, “Your hands shaped me and made me.”
Before ascending into heaven, the Lord met with his disciples and saw that something was missing if the work in them was to
be complete. lt was the divine breath. They had to carry out the work of evangelists in the different nations of the world, and
so Jesus told them.

"Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” And
with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit” (John
20:21-22).

How did Jesus manage to change twelve people into pillars of Christianity, though they were neither cultured nor educated,
and had neither riches nor social standing? The answer is simple:
These individuals were willing to allow themselves to be molded by Him.

CONCLUSION
Vision involves having a clear image of what God wants us to do. He reveals to us the purpose He was for our lives. Only
through faith can we enter the spiritual realm, to see what the Lord has pre-established for each one of us; we must then bring
this vision into the natural realm, which can only be achieved with the help of the Holy Spirit.
