Our Covenant of Shalom
Our Covenant of Shalom
Shalom is the Hebrew word usually translated peace which means prosperity, harmony (within and without), completeness, wholeness, health, welfare, safety, soundness, tranquility, Fulness, rest, the absence of agitation or discord, a state of calm without anxiety or stress. God has given us his covenant of shalom, and will not go back on it. Isaiah 54:10 For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee. The New Covenant is a covenant of Shalom ((peace). Shalom is the hallmark of the Kingdom. A hallmark is a conspicuous characteristic or feature. This should be a characteristic of those living in the kingdom. Consider these verses that spoke of the arrival of the kingdom.
Isaiah 2:4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
Isaiah 9:6-7 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace (shalom) Of the increase of his government and peace (shalom) there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. Isaiah 52:7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; (shalom) that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth! Isaiah 54:13 And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace (shalom) of thy children. Isaiah 57:19 I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace (shalom) to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the LORD; and I will heal him. Isaiah 66:12 For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will extend peace (shalom) to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees. Ezekiel 37:26 Moreover, I will make a covenant of peace (shalom) with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore. Christ is our peace (shalom). Ephesians 2:14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Christ is Jehovah-Shalom: Then Gideon built an altar there unto the LORD, and called it Jehovah shalom: unto this day it is yet in Ophrah of the Abiezrites. Christ comes to drive evil beasts (demons) out of our lives.
Ezekiel 34:25 And I will make with them a covenant of peace (shalom), and will cause the evil beasts to cease out of the land: and they shall dwell safely in the wilderness, and sleep in the woods. The Lord delights in our prosperity. Psalm 35:27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity (shalom) of his servant. Our covenant gives us the right to enjoy the peace and prosperity of the kingdom. Settle for nothing less than shalom. Thus is your covenant right. Claim it and walk in it today.
