Departmental procedure for obtaining a service connection:-

Their is a certain procedure to obtain the service connection by a consumer. To obtain a new
following steps should be followed.

 Firstly, the Consumer has to approach customer service centre to get a prescribed
application form which is free of cost. The Consumer has to fill the entire particulars in the
application and shall indicate his name and address for further communication.
 The filled in application is filled in application is then registered in customer service centre by
paying Registration fee in the form of the Demand draft towards Divisional Electrical
Engineer operation APSPDCL. The amount of D.D Depends on type of the category i.e,Rs.25/-
for Category 1(domestic)and Rs.50/- for the L.T Categories (commercial, Industrial,
agricultural etc.)and Rs.100/- for H.T connection .The relevant documents such as proof of
ownership of the premises, writing certificate from the licenced electrical contractor and 2
and 3 pass photos should be attached with the application .Then the consumer will be given
Acknowledgement of the application which consists of registration number and it’s date.
 The application from customer service centre is then sent to the concerned Assistant
Engineer (A.E), operation .After receiving and going the application the A.E will ask the line
inspect to inspect the premises .The line inspector will inspect and examine the premises to
fix the point of entry of service line and the position of service cut out and energy meter in
consultation with consumer and /or his licensed electrical contractor. After the inspection of
the premises a test report with the particulars of load will be prepared and an estimate will
be formulated.
 Now the line inspector will submit the test report and estimation in a prescribed form to
A.E/A.D.E. After studying the report the A.E/ A.D.E, will ask the section officer to intimate the
consumer in the prescribed profarma to pay the deposits and keep ready the service wire.
 Now the consumer has to pay the following charges.

 DEVELOPMENT CHARGES
 SECURITY DEPOSIT IN THE FORM OF DEMAND DRAFT TOWARDS DIVISIONAL ELECTRICAL
ENGINEER, OPERATION, APSPDCL.

The security deposit will be taken normally for 3 months Consumption charges. All the charges
and deposits shall be in the form of crossed demand draft and will not accepted in cash. The
section officer will issue the temporary receipt for all the deposits obtained.

 After payment of the deposits, the service number and the energy meter will be allowed
with in the month. Then the A.E of the Subdivision will issue the work order for the metering
equipment.
 The service line and the metering equipment will be laid an detected in the consumer
premises. The service line will be connected to the mains and service will be released. After
this, a test report will be collected to the mains and the service will be released. After test
report will be collected in prescribed pro-forma and sent to Electricity revenue officer(E.R.O)
for the billing .The Supplier may fix one or two seals to cut out and energy meter and no
person other than supplier shall not break any seal. The electricity bill should be paid at the
bill collection centres monthly /bimonthly as per the norms of the Electricity Board tariff.
