INTRODUCTION

Select city walk, the country’s most admired Shopping Centre was conceptualized
in 2003 and soon became the iconic retail landmark in the heart of the city. Select
CITYWALK is a 1.3 million sq. ft. air-conditioned, vibrant and upscale destination
shopping center. This is a part of an overall complex of 54 acres that comprises of
three floors of office space, India’s first Six-Screen, two Gold Class and four
Premier Class PVR Cinemas, and approx. 1 lakh sq. ft. of Serviced Apartments.
Select CITYWALK also blends tradition and modernity in a seamless way with its
events and celebrations. From Diwali to Christmas, Valentine’s to Ganesh
Chaturthi, every single event is meticulously planned and well throughout. Aiming
to always make for a convenient shopping trip, the many varied services ensure
that the shopper never feels the need to step out of the shopping center for
anything.

ABOUT THE ARCHITECTS

The Architects of select city walk mall is TEVATIA CHAUHAN AND SHARMA
ARCHITECTS (P) LIMITED .Tevatia Chauhan & Sharma Architects Private
Limited is an unlisted private company incorporated on 01 April 2003. It is classified
as a private limited company and is located in New Delhi. The company has 3
directors and no reported key management personnel.
The longest serving directors currently on board are Anoj Tevatia, Anand Sharma
and Goon meet Singh Chauhan who were appointed on 01 April 2003. They have
been on board for more than 20 years.
Anand Sharma has the largest number of other directorships with a seat at a total of
13 companies. In total, the company is connected to 14 other companies through its
directors.
FEATURES

The Shopping Center is divided into three broad zones: There are eight anchor
tenants and 180+ stores representing over 500 major Indian and international
brands of clothes.
The Shopping Center has a 10,000 sq ft (930 m2). multi-cuisine food court my
square. It also has a number of specialty fine dining restaurants. The mall also
houses PVR cinemas multiplex, which comprises six screens including 2 gold
classes and has a total seating capacity of 1,235. In December 2017 it opened
Delhi's first IMAX theatre.
There is also a 100,000 sq ft (9,300 m2) outdoor open plaza, Sanskriti, for art
festivals, fairs, exhibitions, performances, and al fresco dining. The plaza is
landscaped extensively in timber, water, stone and steel and has an open–air
amphitheater, along with trees and water features.
CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS
• Type of construction – RCC frame
• Concrete is used for dome and Brick wall is used for straight walls
• External finish cladding – Granite, texture paint, composite metal.
• Internal wall finish- plaster with desired paint, ceramics tiles for the toilet.
• Flooring- Marble, Granite slabs, Vitrified tiles.
• The oval shaped atrium at the entrance is covered with a light membrane
sheet of polycarbonate.
• Glass panels around ovel shaped atrium.
• Doors – shutters of ply TW frames and fireproof door wherever required.
• Windows – Aluminum sections.
• Electrification- Adequate provision for electric outlet, TV and Telephone
points.
• Tensile membrane is used at atrium roof, corridor shed, Amphitheatre stage,
sitting space and at terrace
.
SERVICES

Some of the services are like 2 entries and 5 fire exits are provided and the 3-
basement parking is provided. The placement of the entry to the basement is such
that it also acts as drop off without hindering the entry to the basement 3 escalators
are provided. And Service corridors are also provided at the rear side of the city
walk. A 20m wide service lance is provided at the rear side which also acts as
surface parking.

STORE:

Areas of the store were assigned as per their requirements, Floor to floor height is
4m. And the Internal layout varies individually, Shop area ranges from 50sq.m -
1500sq.m

WASHROOM:

o There were 2 washrooms present on each floor. Each washroom comprises


of:
o 5 washbasins
o 6 urinals
o 6 cubical
o Hand dryer
MULTIPLEX:

There are 6 screens.2 of the 6 are gold classes and the Other 4 screens are above
the gold classes. The main entry is through the bridge on the first floor which
connects the mall and multiplex building. The ground floor entry can also be used
for gold class entry, Tickets for cinema can be purchased from the ground floor
and first floor, good point is that the ticket counter is just at the entrance of the
mall. Parking for the cinema is the same as for the mall.

DISPOSAL

• The waste from the restaurants is collected in the basement through shaft.
• The garbage area is divided into 3 separate areas like:
▫ Compositing area.
▫ Segregation area.
▫ Segregated waste for recycling area.
Which was done to divide the waste into different categories.
• After separation waste is disposed through garbage trucks.
PARKING AND BASEMENT SERVICES

About 1300 Cars can be parked on 3 different floors at a time. Basement 1- offices,
parking for 370 cars, loading and unloading area and garbage area.
Basement 2- parking 470 cars. And Basement 3- parking 270 cars.
Basement height is 3.5m.
There were two separate entries which were connecting to the parking lot from the
ground floor, one was used for general entry of cars and the other was used by
service vehicles.
Signage is clearly marked in the basement and throughout the basement,
firefighting equipment's like sprinkles, fire hose reel, fire extinguisher was present.
CONCLUSION

In conclusion, the case study of Select City Walk mall highlights its remarkable
success story within the retail and entertainment industry. Through a strategic
blend of innovative design, a diverse tenant mix, customer centric services and a
commitment to community engagement, the mall has consistently exceeded
expectations. Its ability to adapt to changing market dynamics and the evolving
preferences of consumers has allowed it to maintain a strong competitive edge. The
case study of select city walk serves as a valuable benchmark for other retail
destinations, showcasing how effective management and continuous innovation
can lead to sustained growth and prominence in the market.
