ApRe User Manual and Test Instructions V1.10
1. Introduction
ApRe module is a protection system device that is certified against unintended car movement appropriate to EN 81-1+A3
standard which operates with ADrive.
There is an additional locking system on overspeed governors that are appropriate to EN 81-1+A3 standard. Overspeed governor
stays in locked position when the system is de-energized. Meanwhile, if an unintended movement occurs (up or down), safety
gear becomes active and stops the car in the allowed distances. ApRe module controls coil of the locking system on overspeed
governor. ADrive checks the operation of ApRe module and locking system. ADrive permanently blocks the elevator in the
event of an error on ApRe module or locking system. This state does not change even if the electricity is turned off and on again.
A qualified staff should interfere to operate the lift again.

14. Stopping Distance Calculation before Unintended Car Movement (UCM) Test
Before performing the UCM test, the stopping distance of the protection system must be calculated theorically considering worst
conditions (the worst load condition and with the effect of maximum acceleration of drive/control system). The calculated
stopping distances should be appropriate with the distances shown in section 14.
Locking coil of overspeed governor is de energized even during automatic relevelling in ApRe system. Therefore the following
datas are not included in the stopping distance.
• Doors open transaction zone length (mm)
• UCM sensing device response time (ms)
• UCM activation device response time (ms)
For the worst case scenario: Empty car moves upward at the top of the well or full loaded car moves downward at the bottom of
the well and, ADrive running the motor with full torque should be considered if there is relevelling in the system (See section
16).
The following table shows the curve of how the car stops during UCM considering the worst case scenario:
Velocity (m/s)
Va
Va = 2 * aa * ( Xosg + Xsga )
ab: Minimum braking acceleration of safety gear (in m/s2). This data varies according to the type of safety gear. Acceleration
may vary according to the direction of the car.
Xsgb: Maximum braking distance of safety gear (in mm). This is calculated as follows:
Xsgb = Va2 2 * ab
Total maximum stopping distance during UCM is calculated as follows:
Xucm = Xosg + Xsga + Xsgb
ApRe User Manual and Test Instructions V1.10
Car
Shaft
Landing
Car apron
Car entrance Figure-5
• The car should not exceed 1.2 m from the landing level (This distance is 1 m where the clearance height of car door is
2 m).
• The landing sill and the lowest part of the car apron shall not exceed 200 mm.
• The free distance from car sill to landing door lintel shall not be less than 1 m.
• These values shall be obtained with any load in the car, up to 100 % of rated load.
15.1. Full Torque Test Function of ADrive for Unintended Car Movement
The stopping distance in case of UCM shall be tested under worst case conditions taking into account the worst failure in drive
system (e.g. max. torque, max. acceleration, max. speed). In this mode, ADrive applies maximum torque to motor in the given
direction which causes maximum acceleration in the elevator. The maximum current value can be applied to the motor in this
mode is the value set by parameter 11.13 current limit. In addition, overspeed, low speed, motor overload and ApRe monitoring
error detection are disabled.
This function is only available for firmware version <=V8.81 and for closed loop operations (with encoder).
To activate the function, adjust "13.1-Drive Mode" < "Full Torque Test" from the ADrive menu. This setting does not appear in
the open loop. Since this test is not permanent, if ADrive is reset, this parameter will return to its "Normal" setting.
ADrive system does not check low speed, overspeed, motor overload and ApRe monitoring errors while the function is active.
In this mode, ADrive applies maximum torque to motor in the given direction which causes maximum acceleration in the
elevator. This parameter should be set to two times of the motor current value at the end of auto tuning process. The maximum
current value can be applied to the motor in this mode is the value set by parameter 11.13 current limit.
17. Troubleshooting
Problem 1 Overspeed governors locking system is constantly in the locked position (not released).
1. The Pow. led should be lit on ApRe module. If the led is unlit, check the 12V/24V DC supply (Power terminals) and battery
connection (Battery terminals).
2. When Rescue connection is made (RSC1 and RSC2 terminals are bridged), check the locking systems status.
If locking system is not released:
• Check Trip connection. Normally RT1 and RT2 terminals should be short circuit.
• Check F1 glass fuse (7A) on ApRe module.
• Check locking coil of overspeed governor connection (B.Magnet terminals).
• Check if locking coil of overspeed governor voltage is in appropriate value.
If locking system is released:
• Check if ADrive or lift controller is giving an error.
• Make sure that the doors are all closed/locked. 135 circuit should be closed.
• Make sure that the brake contactor (KFR) is activated while moving.
• Check SFD and 10B terminal connections.
3. After performing the steps above, if the error still does not improve, remove the B.Magnet terminals and connect the DC
supply to locking coil directly. If the locking system releases, it means that the ApRe module is faulty and if the system does
not release, it means that locking system is faulty.
Problem 2 Locking system of overspeed governor is released constantly (locking does not happen).
1. Check if locking system works when Trip (RT1 and RT2) terminals are unplugged.
If locking system does not switch to the locked position when Trip terminals are unplugged:
• Check the locking system of overspeed governor’s connection (B.Magnet terminals).
If locking system switches to the locked position when Trip terminals are unplugged:
• Ckeck Rescue connection. Normally RSC1 and RSC2 terminals should be open circuit.
• Make sure that the brake contactor (KFR) is off when there is no movement.
• Check SFD and 10B terminal connections. There should not be any voltage at SFD and 10B terminals.
2. After performing the steps above, if the error still does not improve, remove the B.Magnet terminals. If locking system
switches to the locked position, it means that the ApRe module is faulty. If not, it means that locking system is faulty.
Problem 3 Safety gear is activated when safety circuit is cut while the elevator is moving.
1. Check that the system is operating correctly while the elevator is not moving. Locking coil of overspeed governor goes off
1 second after mechanical brake contactor is off.
2. If there is a problem only in emergency stop, the the elapsed time to stop the car may be longer than 1 second.
Problem 4 While the car is moving, safety gear activates when mains power is gone.
ApRe module can not be fed from battery in case of a power failure.
1. Check battery connection (Battery terminals)
2. Low battery voltage, battery capacity is not enough or battery/batteries may be faulty.
Problem 5 ADrive gives “CONTACTOR DELAY IS NOT ENOUGH” error.
The time between the brake contactor to drop and the main contactor to drop is less than 1 second. The delay of main contactor
to drop should be extended from the lift controller (see section 8.3)
Problem 6 ADrive gives “APRE CHECK INPUT IS NOT HIGH” error.
ADrive checks locking system of overspeed governor before activating the main contactor. If the system is not in locked
position, ADrive gives “APRE CHECK INPUT IS NOT HIGH” error and does not move the car. Apply the solution described
in "Problem 2".
Problem 7 ADrive gives “APRE MON. ERROR PERMANENT ERR NO: 32” error.
The automatic control function of ApRe and overspeed governor gives error. This fault does not block the system permanently.
The error is resetted after signal turns back to normal.
1. Check the connection of locking coil switch of overspeed governor (ADrive PIN Terminal). Normally the connection of
closed contact should be made. When the coil is de-energised, PIN signal must be active. After the coil is energized, PIN
signal must be off.
2. If the locking system of overspeed governor is always in locked position, apply the solution described in “Problem 1”.
3. If the locking system of overspeed governor is in released position, apply the solution described in “Problem 1”.
Problem 8 ADrive gives “APRE MON. PERMANENT ERR.: 34” error.
The automatic control function of ApRe and overspeed governor gives error. This fault blocks the system permanently. Even
when the signal returns to normal or the system is switched off and switched on again, the error will not be resetted. Appy the
solution described in “Problem 7”.
To erase the permanent error, adjust “5-FAULT HISTORY” > “5.2-Clear F.list” from the menu of ADrive after detecting and
correcting the failure.
Problem 9 ApRe module gives sound alarm (Err. led is blinking).
1. Check Battery connection (Battery terminals).
2. The battery/batteries may be defective.
