something to say.
And? Sit properly, Teacher.

Good!

Learning Goals:
At the end of the discussion, I can:

1. I can define season.

2. I can share my personal experience during
a particular season; and
3. I can identify seasons in the Philippines.

Review
(last meeting, we tackled about weather
Components and this time, let us have a short
review. I will call somebody to read and answer.)
Direction: write T if the statement is true and
F if it is false.
________1. Temperature refers to how warm or cool the
air is in the atmosphere.
________2. Wind is not a movement of air.
________3. Clouds are collection of millions of tiny water
droplets or ice crystals.
________4. Precipitation is the water from clouds in liquid
(rain) or solid (snow/hail) form that falls
to the earth.
________5. Humidity measures how much moisture is
present in the atmosphere.

B. Developmental Activity
1. Motivation
Let us have a game. There will be three groups
to compete. As you can see, there is a piece of
a cut out picture being paste here. All you must
do is to complete it by looking for its missing
parts at the back of the arm of your chair. The
first group to complete the image will be the winner.
You will be given 1 minute to do it.
Am I clear? Yes, Teacher.

What do the picture shows? The picture shows a sunny

day, Teacher.
Do you like this weather? Yes, Teacher.
Why? Because I can go biking,
playing, and eating ice cream.
What will happen to you if you stand
under the direct heat from the sun? The skin might burn, Teacher.
Very good!
What else? Can lead to heat stroke,
Teacher.
What is the best thing to do to avoid heat
stroke, burned skin and fever? Stay inside the building and
drink a lot of water.

what do the second picture shows?

The second picture shows a
rainy day, Teacher.
What will happen to the plants if there is no
water for them to absorb? The plants will die, Teacher!

What is the importance of water? Water is important for survival

not only to plants but also to
animals and humans like us.

Very good!

Motive Question:

Based on the pictures pasted on the board, what

question can you make? What are the seasons in the
Philippines?
What is/are the possible answer to that question? There are two seasons in the
Philippines, wet and dry.
Later, we will know if your hypothesis is correct.

Words Synonyms
frequent Most of the time
infrequent sometime
2. Presentation of the new lesson
Today, we will learn about Seasons of the
Philippines.

3. Discussion
Teaching Modeling
a. Explicit Teaching “I Do”
(use the same picture in the motivation)

Season is the period of the year that is usually

characterized by a particular kind of weather.
Philippines has two seasons only,
wet season and dry season.
The seasons in the country are caused by its
location on the equator and prevailing winds.
Since the Philippines is located just right above
the equator, it receives direct heat from the sun
throughout the year. This is the reason why we
experience relatively high temperature, high
humidity and abundant rainfall year-round.
The sun’s heat also speeds up the evaporation
process in surrounding water bodies. This
results infrequent to frequent rainfall all
throughout the country.
The Northeast Monsoon and Southwest Monsoon
also contribute to the seasons in the Philippines.

These prevailing winds blow consistently in

specific direction and period over particular
areas in the country. The wet or rainy season
takes place from June to November. This is
characterized by frequent rainfall, which may
bring flood to the lowlands. Typhoons often hit
the country during this season.

Farmers plant their crops during this season and

people prefer to serve and eat warm foods, wear
thick and long-sleeved clothes.
The dry season takes place during the months
of December to May. This is characterized by
less and infrequent rainfall as well as dusty soil.
During this season, some of the crops die due to
insufficient supply of water. The dry season is
influenced by the Northeast Monsoon or Hanging
Amihan that brings cool and dry air.
Activities: swimming, flying kites, and biking.
Drying of crops under the sun is usually done
during this time. People wear loose and thin
light-colored clothes as well as shorts to feel
comfortable during hot days. Foods and
beverages like halo-halo, ice cream, and fruit
shakes are usually served during this season.
b. Guided Practice “We Do”
(use the pictures from discussion)
Let us have an activity. All you have to do is choose
one picture and put it in the box you think it belongs.
Afterwards, you are going to share your personal
experience about it. I will call somebody to do it.
Are you ready? Yes, we are ready.

Wet Season Dry Season

c. Independent practice (You Do)

(Each pupil will be given a flaglets. Prepare the
scoresheet for the game.)
Let us have a game. Blue flaglets represents dry
season while red represents wet season.
I will paste here the picture one at a time.
All you must do is to raise the blue if the
picture tell it as dry season while raise the color
red if it tells wet season. The group can earn 1
point if all members got the correct answer.
d. Application (Differentiated Activities)
Let us have another group activity and always
remember to help one another and share your
ideas. Each group must have a leader who will
present the activity in front of the class. You will
be given five (5) minutes to do the task and
another five (5) minutes to present it in class.
Group 1-SL
Direction: Draw one smiley face if the picture tells wet season and two smiley face if it is
wet season.

___1.

___2.

___3.

___4.

___5.

Group 2-AL
(T-Chart)
Direction: Paste the pictures in the right column.
WET SEASON DRY SEASON

Group 3-FL
Direction: Identify each situation. Write the season it
implies whether dry season or wet season.
Example:
dry season 1.Evelyn was eating halo-halo yesterday.

_________1. Yesterday, Lawrence went to school

wearing a thick long-sleeves, boots
and umbrella.
_________2. Justin and his family spent their
weekends by doing a picnic.
_________3. Johnssen’s father is drying corn
under the sun.
_________4. The river was overflowing due to heavy rains.
_________5. Niko Jei was playing under the rain.

e. Generalization
(Teacher will go back to hypothesis given by the learners)
What is season? Is a period of the year that is
characterized by a particular
kind of weather.
How many season do we have in our country? Two, Teacher. 1 is wet season
and 2 is dry season.
What are the seasons we have in our country? We have two seasons in our
country, wet and dry season.
What causes the seasons in the country? The causes of the country’s

the prevailing winds.
