Then

“Why are you doing this?”

“Hyung please.”

“Do you not love me?”

“Sunny, I’m so sorry.” Jake says, barely holding himself. “Hyung loves you so much. Please
forgive me. Forgive us.”

“NO!”

Jake’s hand opens the younger’s chest and grabs Sunoo’s heart with ease.

He stares at the younger's face as his eyes fill with tears. Jake rips out the heart. Feeling the exact
moment it stops beating. As Sunoo’s eyes close and his body falls, Jake grabs his body with his
other arm.

A sob leaves his mouth but he doesn't allow himself to cry. Not now. Not ever. He doesn't deserve
crying when he is the one who killed him.

Jake gently puts Sunoo's lifeless body to the floor. He leaves a quick kiss to his forehead before
turning to his right where Jay laid the wings he cut off from Sunoo minutes ago.

He gently squeezes the heart. It's black. Still carrying the visual proof of the curse Sunoo had to
carry. Then he grabs his wings.
He has to do it himself. He knows killing Sunoo would be the end of him; he also knows he
wouldn't make any of his other lovers go through this trauma.

Niki was going to hate him. Heeseung probably won’t be able to look at him after this.

Jake could live with it.

Jake climbs the stairs to go to the altar alone. With each step, he holds back a sob. His chest burns
with pain and agony of what he did, and what he is about to do.

But it was all for Sunoo.

He had to sacrifice him, in order to save him.

NOW

100 YEARS LATER

“Remind me why we are enrolling into university, again?” Niki whined as he struggled to tuck his
shirt into his pants. For someone who never sleeps, Niki was always grumpy in the mornings.

“Well, it’s not just any university.” Jungwon explained before reaching out to help him with his
shirt. “It is the oldest university in the world. Also has the world's biggest, oldest and diverse
library. Filled with secret, priceless books and knowledge .” He emphasized every single world.

Jungwon gave Niki a quick kiss before removing his hands from the younger's shirt. Looking
pleased with how his outfit turned out.

“I thought the world’s oldest university was in-” Sunghoon tried to ask in confusion before getting
interrupted by Heeseung.
“It is what normal people know. Decelis is the actual one. It is connected to secret societies.
Common folk don't even know it exists.”

“We enrolled for the library.” Jay said to cut it short. “It might have books about us .”

“Oh.” Niki said. He hated the fact that he was always the last one that got the news. Still, he chose
to not say anything. His face however, failed to mask his anger.

They didn’t talk as they packed the rest of their stuff. Jake was nowhere to be seen but Niki
assumed he was done packing his stuff days ago.

When they packed everything, Jake appeared in the stairs with two briefcases.

He didn’t say anything, didn’t even look at anyone. He went down the stairs quickly and stood
next to Jay who gave him a gentle pat on his shoulder.

“Okay let’s go.” Jungwon said after a moment.

Sunoo

Sunoo didn’t sign up for this. He just wanted a normal life, with normal people. Going to a normal
university and having normal friends. But being adopted by werewolves as a baby took that chance
from him permanently. Now, Sunoo LOVED his family. He couldn’t find a better family when he
thought about it. Yes, going to a human family would be great, given that he himself was human
but whatever, right? He grew up loved and pampered. He was spoiled. It was nice. He even went to
a human school and made great friends.

The problem, however, was that he was forced to go into a secret university because his pack was
in some kind of big war with another pack and it was too dangerous for him.

Also, as his brother Taki said: “Free health care.”

“They have the world’s greatest doctors in there. Literally.” Nicholas, his other brother, explained.
“They invented the medicine field.”

You see, Sunoo had this condition since he was a baby. He had a weak heart. Nothing doctors
could fix with modern medicine or surgeries. He needed a transplant and even that wouldn’t give
any guarantee of anything. Sunoo grew up knowing that his time on earth was limited. He probably
wouldn’t even be going to see his 30’s. It was sad, but there was nothing he could do.

And that is how he ended up in the gates of Decelis University. He was picked up by the
university’s car by the airport and was dropped by the gates.

Before Sunoo could even ask the chauffeur anything, he was all alone. He sighed and grabbed the
handles of his suitcases.

“At least help me carry these up the stairs.” He whined to no one. There was no way he could carry
his bags himself without fainting. Literally.

As he was struggling to carry one of his suitcases up the stairs, he heard another car arriving but he
was too focused on not dropping his suitcase. He hoped whoever came would help him carry his
stuff.

He stopped midway on the stairs to calm his heart and breath and turned his head to see the
arrivals. One by one, 6 men got out of the car. They didn’t seem to notice Sunoo yet so he waited
patiently until one of them turned towards him. Lucky for him, the shortest one of the group turned
towards him.

Sunoo felt like he was electrocuted when their eyes met. The man, who looked around his age,
looked like he had seen a ghost. He opened his mouth like he was going to say something but
instead, he closed it quickly. Sunoo stared as he put on a fake smile on his face.

And within a millisecond, he was standing in front of Sunoo.

He must be a vampire. Sunoo thought. I never met one before. Nice.

“Hi.” The vampire said. “Need help?”

Sunoo’s attention slid to the other men still standing in front of their car. They all carried different
levels of shock in their faces. Sunoo felt weird.

Was it because he was a human?

Taki said there were many humans in this university. Why would they be surprised to see a
human?

“Uhm.” Sunoo mumbled before turning back to the vampire that was standing in front of him.
“That would be great. Thanks.”

The vampire nodded his head and he went down the stairs to grab Sunoo’s other suitcase before
climbing up again to grab the one he was holding.

“Vampire strength.” He said pointing to the suitcases. “It is like holding a paper.”

“Oh. Cool.” Sunoo didn’t know what else to say.

“I’m Jungwon.” the vampire introduced himself. They started climbing the stairs. Sunoo could tell
he was slow on purpose to keep up with Sunoo’s pace.

“I’m Sunoo.” Sunoo smiled kindly when he noticed Jungwon was staring at him. “Thank you for
the help. I’m kind of weak. It would take a while for me to carry them myself.”

“You are human right?” Jungwon asked. They were almost at the end of the stairs.

“Yeah. Uhm. My adoptive parents are werewolves.” Sunoo explained. “I grew up with them.”

“That explains the smell.” Jungwon commented lightly. Like he was teasing him.

Sunoo smiled but he couldn’t stop himself before sniffing his shirt.
“I didn’t mean you are stinking.” Jungwon tried to explain in a panic. “Werewolves have a distinct
smell. I’m assuming they scented you. That’s why you smell like a werewolf.”

“Oh.” Sunoo stopped to think for a second. “Ah yes, my brothers scented me before I left. I can’t
smell it myself.”

Jungwon put the suitcases to the floor. “I will help you carry these to your room.” He said before
putting his hand behind his neck. He looked nervous. “Do you- Do you want to meet my mates?”

“Mates?” Sunoo asked in surprise.

“Partners?” Jungwon looked even more nervous now. “I have 5 boyfriends. We all date each
other.”

“Sure. I-” before Sunoo could finish his sentence. The other 5 men were standing next to
Jungwon.

“This is Heeseung hyung.” Jungwon pointed to the second tallest.

“Hi, I’m Sunoo.” Sunoo smiled kindly.

Heeseung was a handsome man. He had neatly styled silver hair and a couple of silver piercings
covering up his ears. His big doe eyes, however, were staring into Sunoo’s eyes like he was trying
to read his mind. Maybe his soul.

“Nice to meet you.” Heeseung said. His gaze turned softer than a moment ago quickly. Sunoo still
had a hard time reading his facial expression.

“Next to him is Niki. Our youngest.”

Niki was the tallest one among them. He had dark black hair that fell into his forehead in a messy
way. He looked like he was in pain and he refused to make eye contact with him.
Niki mumbled a little “Hi.” before disappearing into thin air with his bags.

“He is shy.” Jungwon forced a smile.

“This is Jay hyung.” Jungwon walked towards the black haired guy next. Jay had a calm, almost
apathetic look on his face when he raised his hand to greet him.

“Nice to meet you Sunoo.” He said with a gentle, soft voice.

“Sunghoon hyung.” Jungwon pointed out the guy with the white hair.

Sunghoon gave him an awkward smile.

“And, this is Jake hyung.” Jungwon pointed out the last one. Jake looked at him with eyes filled
with tears. But somehow he looked like he was refusing to cry.

The second their eyes met, Sunoo felt a weird pain on his chest. It was different from his normal
heart pain but it still hurt regardless. He instinctively put his right hand over it. He only realized he
was crying when Jungwon reached out to wipe his tears.

“Oh.” Sunoo said in surprise. “I don’t know why I’m crying.” He accepted Heeseung’s
handkerchief offer and wiped his eyes.

“Are you okay, Jake-shi?” He asked right after. Pointing to his own eyes. “Your eyes-”

Jake made a weird sound before nodding. Sunoo watched Sunghoon grabbing Jake’s arm and
taking him inside the building without a word.

“Sorry about that. We are dealing with… something.” Jungwon seemed genuinely apologetic.
“They are nice, I promise.”

“Don’t worry about it.” Sunoo smiled.

“How old are you, Sunoo?” Heeseung asked. He was now standing next to Jay, who was about to
reach out to hold his hand.

“I’m 18.” Sunoo said. “Just graduated high school.”

“We are your hyungs then.” Heeseung said.

“Niki and I are the same age as you. Not literally but we turned around your age.” Jungwon said.
“Everyone else is older.”

“You can call us hyung.” Jay hyung said. “What is your room number?”

“107.”

“Great. We are on the same floor!” Jungwon grabbed Sunoo’s suitcases again.

Together they got inside the main building and started to walk toward the rooms. It looked like
they knew where they were going so Sunoo followed them from behind.

“Do you like cake?” Jungwon asked as they were climbing another set of stairs. “We love cakes.”

“Uhh…” Sunoo was breathless. “Y-yes.”

Too many stairs. Sunoo was already stressing about them. He wasn’t sure he could survive a week
climbing all these stairs. He wondered if they had any elevators.

“Are you okay?” Jay stopped to turn back and look at him. He must have heard Sunoo’s struggle.
He looked a little worried.

“I have heart problems.” Sunoo explained truthfully. “I wish they had elevators.” He whined right
after.
Everyone stopped.

Sunoo didn’t need any supernatural powers to realize there was a silent conversation going
between the three.

Before Sunoo could attempt to change the topic, he was in the arms of Jay.

Jay effortlessly climbed the rest of the stairs with Sunoo in his arms.

Sunoo was speechless.

“I’m sorry.” Jay said before putting him down at the end of the stairs. “I should have asked
before.”

“It’s… okay?” Sunoo grimaced.

Jay looked embarrassed.

“Thank you, hyung.” Sunoo said when he realized he made Jay upset. “That was very kind of you.”

Jay gave him a small nod.

“Here is your room.” Jungwon pointed out the door that he was standing next to. “We are in
number 113. We don’t need food to survive but we occasionally eat dessert. Jay hyung will bake
cake today. Is it okay if we bring you some?”

Sunoo nodded happily. “Thank you, Jungwon.” He couldn’t believe he made friends that easily.
And he was going to eat cake. He couldn’t be any luckier on his first day here.

Sunoo heard Heeseung chuckle.

“Hope you like red velvet.” Heeseung said. “Jay worked and perfected his recipe for decades.”

Before Sunoo could answer, they disappeared in the hallway.

“It is my favorite.” Sunoo answered. He wasn’t sure if they could hear him or not. “What a
coincidence.”

Chapter End Notes

Okay!! Before anything. Here are some info about the story. The vampires here are
like the ones from Twilight. Except they don't sparkle in sun. They don't burn in the
sun either. They don't sleep. Vampires in default have heightened sense of smell and
hearing. They are stronger and faster than other humans. They don't age. Most
vampires get a gift when they turn.

Heeseung has telepathy. Jake has pyrokinesis. Jay has super strength. Sunghoon has
emotion manipulation. Jungwon has super speed. And Niki can teleport.

I didn't read any of the Dark Moon content. So I don't know any "canon" facts. The
powers I picked from their mvs. And I picked Sunghoon's power to benefit this fic.

I don't really like when side characters take so much part on fanfics so in this fic they
will have very minor roles.

As you can probably tell, English is not my native language. I'm hoping to improve my
writing skills as we go with this fic. Every comment and kudos is appreciated. Please
don't hesitate to drop comments.

Much love, Duckz.

“How is he?” Jungwon asked the second he entered their room. His eyes quickly searched the room
to see where Jake was.

He ignored Niki’s tasteless chuckle.

It took Jungwon a while to find Jake in their unreasonably big room. Jake was lying in one of their
beds that was all the way at the end of the room. He was wrapped in a blanket, probably by
Sunghoon who was also cuddling him tightly like he would disappear if he didn’t. His face was
hidden on Sunghoon’s chest.

“He doesn’t let me help him.” Sunghoon sighed when he noticed Jungwon stood next to them. He
didn’t actually need permission to manipulate emotions but he would never play with his mates’
feelings without their consent. Not anymore. He promised them a long time ago to never do it
again. And he was a man of his word.

Let’s not tell him that Sunoo has heart problems.

Heeseung said telepathically.

At least not now.

Jungwon turned behind with a grim expression. Jay shook his head to show his disapproval.
I’m not saying to hide it from him. Just until he is a little bit better.

“Care to share with the class?” Niki commented bitterly. He never liked being left in the dark.

“Maybe you should calm down a little, Niki.” Jungwon bit back. He didn’t mean to sound so harsh
but he was already stressed and overwhelmed by the whole situation. “Sunghoon hyung, why don’t
you help Niki?”

“Don’t even joke about it.” Niki yelled. He teleported next to their door to leave some space
between them. “I will never, ever let any of you control me again. Never.”

“Everyone, calm down.” Sunghoon begged. Tightening his grip on Jake a little more.

“He is finally here. We should be happy.” Heeseung tried to reason.

“Happy?” Niki was lost in his wrath. “He doesn’t remember us. There is no way we can be sure he
would even love us again.”

Niki teleported again to stand right in front of Heeseung. His anger was not directed at him, at least
entirely.

“Niki-” Jay tried to interrupt.

“You know, I always hated how you all acted like nothing happened after. Like he never existed,
like we didn’t kill him. And as if it was not bad enough, you all erased him. You didn’t forget him
but you sure erased him from our lives.” Niki stopped briefly before continuing. His voice was
getting quieter with each word like he was fighting the urge to cry. “I couldn’t even talk about him
with any of you because you would run away, or change the topic. Or you would stop me because
Jake hyung was around.”

No one said a word.

“I hated Jake hyung, for killing him. I hated Jay hyung for cutting his wings that he loved so much.
I hated Sunghoon hyung for chaining me and locking me up so I couldn’t stop you all. And I hated
you all for not allowing me to talk about him.”

Niki closed his eyes. And disappeared before anyone could say anything.

Sunoo

Sunoo woke up to the sound of his door being knocked.

After getting inside to his room that was way too big for a single person, he was left with the
chores to unpack all of his stuff, call his family to let them know he arrived safely and answer his
group chat that was filled with 492 unread messages.

At some point while trying to read every single one of them and replying to some, Sunoo must
have fallen asleep.

“Sunoo?”

A voice Sunoo recognized as Jungwon’s called from outside the door.

“Coming!” He yelled while trying to find something to wear. He grabbed the shirt he wore earlier
the day and tried to fix his hair while walking to the door.

When he opened it, he wasn’t expecting the vampires from earlier standing outside his room.

“Oh.” Sunoo couldn't hide his surprise.

“We wanted to get to know you better, if it’s okay?” Jungwon smiled. Holding a white cardboard
box Sunoo assumed had the cake inside.

“Of course.” Sunoo said and moved to give them a space to get inside. “Sorry, I fell asleep.”
Laughed nervously. He hurried back to his bed to fix the messed bedding.

“Don’t worry about it.” He heard someone say.

It was the white haired vampire. Sunghoon?

“We couldn’t meet properly.” Sunghoon said. He was now standing in front of him. Sunoo only
noticed Jake was also there when he popped his head from behind and put his chin on Sunghoon’s
shoulder.

“Nice to meet you, Sunoo.” Jake greeted. He had a small, but genuine smile on his face. He didn’t
break eye contact when their eyes met. Sunoo couldn’t help but notice the pain lingered in his
eyes.

“Let’s eat!” Jay called from the mini kitchen area of his room.

Sunoo smiled politely to the two vampires and waited until they started to move to follow them
behind.

“Niki is not coming?” Sunoo couldn’t help but ask when he realized one of them was absent. It
was also hard to miss since Niki was the tallest one between the vampires.

Jay cut a generous slice from the cake and pushed the plate in front of Sunoo.

“He went to hunt.” He answered. He continued to share the slices of cake with the others.

Sunoo watched the older as he saved one slice and put it back into the cake box carefully. He
figured it was left for Niki.

“You drink from humans, right?” Sunoo asked nonchalantly.

Growing up with werewolves made him indifferent to… strange things.

Heeseung, once again, chuckled softly.

“Yes.” Sunghoon replied. “We use donors though. We don’t go around killing people.”

“You mentioned hunting though?” Sunoo pressed. He was curious but he tried to not sound rude.

“We hunt animals sometimes.” Jungwon explained. He was already done with his own cake and he
was trying to steal a bite from Jay’s plate. “We prefer human blood of course, but animal blood
works just as fine. Different tastes. And you get hungry quicker when you drink from animals.”

“Oh.” Sunoo took another bite from his own cake. It was delicious. “What kind of animal do you
guys like to drink from?”

Sunghoon burst out laughing.

When Sunoo looked at him confused, he quickly stopped and put on a gentle voice before
speaking.

“I’m sorry. It is just kind of funny how cool you are with all of this.”

“I told you, I grew up in a wolf pack.” Sunoo replied. “I watched my brothers mauling animals in
the forest and eating them raw.”

“Oh.”

“I like deers.” Heeseung said. “Kind of a basic one I guess.”

“Deers dry out so fast.” Jay chimed in.

“Yeah, I love bears.” Jake said.

“I once drank from a fox.” Jungwon said. He looked upset. “I felt bad right after because it didn’t
satisfy me at all. Died for no reason.”

“My brothers eat mostly deers and wild rabbits.” Sunoo said. “They don’t like bears. They say
bears taste weird.”

“How many brothers do you have?” Jay asked.

“9.” Sunoo replied. “My parents can’t have kids. We are all adopted. I’m just the only one who is
human.”

“All boys?” Heeseung sounded surprised. “I can’t imagine having 9 brothers.”

“It is as bad as you imagine.” Sunoo nodded. “I love them all, of course but there are just too many
people all the time. Even for me.”

They ate the rest of their cake in silence. Sunoo thought he didn’t mind the silence as it felt
strangely peaceful when it was with them.

Sunoo helped Jay wash the dishes and Sunghoon dried them with a small smile on his face.

“I’m curious, Sunoo.” Heeseung asked once they were done with cleaning and back to sitting.
There wasn't enough space in the couch for all of them so Sunoo sat on his bed with Jungwon and
Sunghoon while the others moved the couch next to his bed and sat on it.

“About what, hyung?”

“Did you ever think of turning into a werewolf?”

The question hung in the air with a sudden silence.

Sunoo tried not to look upset when he tried to think about how to explain it.

“I mean. Yes. At one point.” He started, playing with his fingers. “You probably already know that
werewolf turning is different from vampire turning. There is a high risk of dying in the process of
werewolf turning. Even healthy people don’t survive most of the time.”

He could feel the stares of the vampires.

“With my heart problems, trying to turn into a wolf would be like suicide.” He explained. “Also, I
never really wanted to become a werewolf. Deep down it always felt wrong? I don’t know.”

“Heart problems?” Jake asked with a shaky voice.

Sunoo lift his head to look at him. He didn’t like the way Jake’s voice made him feel.

“Yeah, some kind of birth defect.”

“Oh.” Jake said quickly. He cleared his throat and stood up abruptly. “I forgot I had to call
someone. Excuse me please.”

“Jake-” Heeseung reached out to hold Jake’s arm but Jake was quick to move it.

“See you around, yeah?” He said to Sunoo with a forced smile. He was avoiding eye contact once
again.

“Are you okay, Jake hyung?” Sunoo stood up instinctively. He felt an overwhelming worry about
the older. He tried to take a step towards him but Jake moved away slightly like it burnt.

“Yes.”
And within a second, Jake was out the door.

“We should leave too.” Jungwon said right after. “It’s almost 1 AM. You should probably sleep.”

“Okay.” Sunoo replied. He didn’t know what to say. “Thank you for the cake, Jay hyung. And the
company.”

“You’re welcome.” Jay said.

They said their goodbyes and one by one all the vampires left his room.

Sunoo stood for a solid few minutes in front of his door after their departure.

Something was weird.

Sunoo

The next day, once again Sunoo woke up to the sound of his door knocking. He had no idea about
the time but since he didn’t hear his alarm clock ran, it must have been even earlier than he was
supposed to wake up.

Groaning, Sunoo pulled himself underneath his comforter and walked slowly to the door.
Knocking never stopped.

“Kim Sunoo-shi?” An unfamiliar voice called behind the door.

Sunoo walked the last few steps hurriedly and unlocked the door with still half closed eyes.

A man, a human one, that he didn’t know was standing behind it. He was carrying a black binder
that was filled to the brim with one hand. His other hand hung in the air as he was about to knock
on his door again.

The man smiled kindly.

“Sorry to wake you up, I’m your assigned guide.” He explained. Pointing to his name tag on his
chest. “I’m Haru.”

“Oh. Nice to meet you, Haru-shi.” Sunoo replied. He was still confused about why he was woken
up so early.

“I woke you up because I didn’t want you to climb stairs again.” Haru explained quickly. “I was
informed that you would need an elevator. I normally read every new student's files to see what
kind of accommodations they would need while studying here. I’m sorry about not thinking that
myself before. There is an elevator that you can use. It’s normally only for staff use but-” He
searched his pocket hurriedly.
“Here is the key for the elevator.” He handed him a tiny, golden key. “And this binder has all the
information and forms you would need for this year. There is a map, your schedule, syllabuses and
all the other stuff.” Haru also handed him the binder.

“Thank you so much.” Sunoo said. He was still yet to wake up completely.

“It also has my number in it. You can call me or text me if you need something. Or want to ask
something.”

“Got it.” Sunoo opened the cover of the binder to take a peek.

“That’s all for now then.” Haru sighed. He looked like he didn’t sleep for days. “I need to go.
Hope you have a great year.”

Haru turned and walked off without waiting for a reply.

Sunoo stood there a few moments before he could fully digest what Haru said.

“Wait, who informed him?”

Sunoo didn’t see any of the vampires for the rest of the week. Sunoo would lie if he said he didn’t
want to see them.

His first week in this weird university was very busy and confusing in many ways. He rarely had
free time between his lectures and his lectures ended around 6 PM the earliest. He wasn’t sure if
normal universities had the same time schedule as this one but he was doubtful.

The first few days Sunoo took longer than it needed to get to his room in the long hallway. He was
hoping to run into one of the vampires but it was no luck. The coven (Sunoo wasn’t even sure if
they used the word coven but whatever) seemed to disappear.
It was on day 4 when Sunoo finally decided to give up trying to run into them and he continued to
live his life like normal. They were probably busy with the new semester like Sunoo was. They
would visit Sunoo when they had free time. Hopefully.

On friday, Sunoo skipped his last lecture to call his family. They would probably get mad at him
for skipping his classes but Sunoo felt lonely and he was going to lose his mind if he didn’t see any
familiar faces as soon as possible.

“Are you guys all alright?” Sunoo asked worriedly the second his facetime call was answered. He
wasn’t able to call his pack all week since they were in an active war with another pack.

“Hello to you too, hyung.” Taki teased him.

“Answer me.” Sunoo pouted. His eyes quickly started to count how many of his brothers were in
the call.

“Everyone is alive.” Nicholas said. “You know they don’t let us “pups” go into the fight.”

“I’m still worried.” Sunoo said.

“We were worried about you too, you know?” Fuma, one of his oldest brothers, asked before
taking the phone from Taki. “Is it safe there?”

“Oh hyung, guess what?” Sunoo asked excitedly.

“What?”

“I met a group of vampires!”

“A group of what?” Taki yelled.

“I’m sorry I think I misheard what you said?” Fuma looked like he was two seconds away from
losing his mind. “Vampires?”
“You knew there would be vampires here.” Sunoo said defensively. “It’s literally an university for
monsters and some fucked up cultish human societies.”

“STAY AWAY FROM THEM!” Euijoo screamed behind the camera. Sunoo couldn’t see him on
the screen but he knew he was panicking.

“Carry a clove of garlic.” Nicholas suggested. “Wear it like a necklace.”

“I don’t think garlic works like that.”

“Why not?”

“Silvers don’t hurt us. It might be a myth.” Taki said.

“Wolfsbane kills us though.”

“Hey guys, let’s change the subject.” Sunoo suggested. “How are mom and dad?”

“They are-” Fuma was interrupted when Sunoo’s door was knocked once again.

“I will call you guys later, okay?” Sunoo said hurriedly as he got up from his bed to answer the
door.

“Don’t open it if it’s one of those vampires.” Nicholas whispered.

“They can just break the door if they wanted to.” Taki sighed. “See you later, hyung.”

“Bye,” Sunoo ended the call and unlocked the door.

It was the tallest one. Niki.

“Hi.” He said when the door was opened.

Sunoo tried to hide his surprise.

“Hi. Niki, right?” Sunoo asked.

“Yes.” the boy nodded. “I was assigned to fetch you to take you to our room.”

Sunoo raised his eyebrows in confusion.

“What?”

“That sounded creepy.” Niki admitted. He laughed nervously. “I meant to say, Jay hyung baked
another cake and we have some special tea brewed so I was assigned to ask you… If you want to,
of course.”

“Oh.” Sunoo blinked.

Niki avoided eye contact and grabbed his neck.

“Okay.” Sunoo said quickly to not overwhelm the vampire any longer. Niki seemed like a shy guy
and even though it was cute to see him like this, Sunoo didn’t want to torture him.

“Great.” Niki said. He looked relaxed.

Sunoo chuckled softly and went inside his room to grab his phone and keys.

“Do I need to bring something?” Sunoo asked before closing his door. It felt wrong going to their
room empty handed.
“No. Just yourself is enough.” Niki answered quickly.

Sunoo closed his door and followed the vampire.

“How was your first week?” Sunoo asked, wanting to break the ice between them.

“Okay, I guess.” Niki said. “It was kind of boring.”

“What are you studying?”

“Literature.”

“That sounds boring, yes.” Sunoo giggled.

Niki smiled. “You?”

“Economics.” Sunoo sighed. “You can laugh. It is more boring than literature for sure. It is not the
major I wanted to pursue but there aren't many options here anyway.”

“I wasn’t going to laugh.” Niki said softly. “It is just-”

“Here you are!” Jungwon called suddenly. He was peeking behind the door with a mischievous
grin on his face.

Sunoo only then noticed they arrived in the vampire’s room.

The door opened all the way.

“Sunoo!” Sunghoon called excitedly. He was in the kitchen with Jay.

Sunoo waved to him and stepped inside.

“Long week?” Heeseung asked. He grabbed his arm gently to move him towards the couch.

“Yes.” Sunoo let him guide him.

“Same for us too.” Heeseung said. He sat next to Sunoo on the couch. “We wanted to see you but
you were sleeping when we had the free time-”

“Next week will be better.” Jungwon said. He pushed Niki to the armchair and he moved to sit on
the loveseat himself. “We will run to each other for sure.”

“It must be boring since you can’t sleep.” Sunoo said emphatically. There was a period where he
suffered from insomnia and the boredom was worse than the tiredness he experienced.

“We occupy ourselves.” Jake answered. He sat in the loveseat next to Jungwon. “We all have
hobbies.”

“Like what?”

“Jay plays the guitar. I read. Heeseung plays games. Niki dances and Jungwon does-” Jake stopped
mid sentence to turn and look at the said person. “What do you do?”

Jungwon shrugged.

“I read too.” Sunghoon said. He was holding two plates in his hands. He gave one of them to
Sunoo and the other to Heeseung. “Jungwonie and I watch dramas sometimes.”

Jay arrived quietly holding the rest of the plates. He distributed them quickly and went back to the
kitchen to bring the tea.
Sunoo sniffed the cake curiously.

“It is ruby.” Jay said. “The chocolate I mean. That's why it’s pink.”

Jay put the teapot into the tiny table in front of them.

“I never tried ruby chocolate before.” Sunoo said. He was so excited to try it.

“Can werewolves eat chocolate? Is it poisonous?” Sunghoon asked.

“It is kind of funny.” Sunoo answered. “They can eat in human form just fine. But if they eat in
wolf form it upsets their stomach. It doesn’t kill them but it hurts a lot.”

“Try it.” Jay pointed to his plate with his eyes.

Sunoo didn’t have to be told twice.

The cake was amazing as always. The first one he tried was made with regular chocolate but this
one was pink. Sunoo could taste the difference between them but it wasn’t a huge difference for
him. He was sure his brothers or the vampires here could taste the difference better than him.

“It is amazing, hyung.” Sunoo said, his mouth still full.

Jay gave him the biggest smile he saw from him.

“Try the tea too.” Niki pushed a tea cup in front of him. “I picked the blend.”

Sunoo sipped carefully.

It was fruity, but also almost woody? Sunoo didn’t know how to explain it. But it tasted amazing
too.
Sunoo hummed happily.

“I love it.”

Niki looked proud.

“What are you all studying?” Sunoo asked after a few bites of his cake.

“Literature.” Jungwon answered.

“All 6 of you?”

“Yes.”

Sunoo was surprised. His shock must have been apparent on his face that Heeseung decided to
explain.

“We lived for centuries.” He said. “We studied almost everything you can imagine. Literature is
one of the most diverse subjects in the world. There are always more things you can learn and
discover about it.”

“I get it.” Sunoo said. “I actually wanted to study literature or fine arts.”

“What are you studying now?” Jay asked, curious.

“Economics.” Sunoo sighed.

“You can change your major.” Jungwon said. “You should study what you are interested in.”
“I don’t know.” Sunoo said. His face fell.

“Sunoo doesn’t seem to want to talk about this, guys.” Jake interrupted. “Let’s talk about
something else.”

“Tell us about yourself.” Heeseung suggested. “Whatever you want to talk about.”

Sunoo smiled mischievously. “You might regret it, hyung. I’m told I talk too much when given the
opportunity.”

“Bring it on.” Jay smiled. He leaned on the couch, showing that he was getting comfortable to
listen.

Sunoo loved a challenge.

the missing: someone, lost or from past

Then

“Sunny!” Jake yells, not being able to hold his laughter longer.

Sunoo laughs too, flapping his wings a little bit faster.

But Jake catches up to him. Like he always does.

Sunoo makes a disappointed noise as Jake grabs his waist.

“Catched you.” Jake announces. His wings are smaller than Sunoo’s but somehow it doesn’t affect
his speed.

“Now what?” Sunoo asks. Still breathless. They are hovering in the air.

“We need to go back.” Jake answers. He grabs Sunoo’s cheek with his hand and caresses. “They
are waiting for us.”

“Okay, love.” Sunoo says. Gently removing Jake’s hand from his waist. “Let’s go.”

“You are going to run away, aren’t you?” Jake grabs Sunoo’s wrist gently. “I can tell it from the
look on your face.”

“Only for a few minutes.” Sunoo whines. “I will just take a peek.”

“Okay.” Jake sighs. He knows bargaining is not possible with Sunoo.

“20 minutes.” Jake warns. “One second late and I will send Jungwon after you.”
Sunoo makes an excited noise before reaching to give Jake a kiss.

“Thank you! Thank you!”

Now

“Are you a coven?” Sunoo asked. He was meaning to ask that since the day he met them.

“No.”

“Not officially.”

Niki and Jungwon answered at the same time.

Sunoo watched the two look at each other like they were about to argue.

“We are technically a coven but we don’t consider this a coven yet.” Heeseung said.

“What do you mean?”

“Unlike packs, coven only becomes a thing when you are complete.” Jay tried to explain. “You can
always add new people to your pack while also being a thing. In covens, there is no open spot. You
are either complete or not. And when you are complete, you become a coven.”
Sunoo stared at him with confusion. “So, you are missing someone?” he asked.

“Yes.” Niki answered quickly. His eyes briefly met with Sunoo’s.

“Hope you find that someone soon then.” Sunoo said. And he meant it. He wasn’t sure he
understood the coven thing completely but he knew about packs. If covens were even more
intimate than packs, the vampires must have been feeling very empty without their last “someone”.

“Thank you, Sunoo.” Heeseung said kindly. He looked a little sad even though he was smiling at
him.

When Sunghoon leaned in to whisper something to Heeseung’s ear, Sunoo’s attention turned to
Jake who was reading a book quietly.

“What are you reading, hyung?” Sunoo asked curiously. He squinted his eyes to try and read the
page Jake was on. “Oh, is it a poem book?”

Jake quickly closed the cover of the book. “Yes. It is Paradise Lost.”

“Oh! I heard about it. I Haven't got the chance to read it yet.” Sunoo said excitedly. “I love reading
poems too.”

“You can borrow it.” Jake blurted out. Pushing the book towards Sunoo.

Sunoo took a look at the book.

“This looks very old, hyung. I wouldn’t forgive myself if I accidentally damaged it.” Sunoo pushed
the book back. “I’m sure the library has a copy of it.”

“No.” This time Jake put the book directly at Sunoo’s hands. “I insist. I wouldn’t offer it if I wasn’t
okay with it.”

Sunoo softly touched the black leather cover. He was about to thank him for lending it but his
alarm went off.

“Shit, I will be late!” Sunoo jumped off his seat. He hurriedly packed his stuff back to his bag
while quietly cussing to himself. He hated being late.

“I can teleport you.” Niki offered. “Wouldn’t take a second.”

“You can teleport other people?” Sunoo asked.

“Yes. Only one at the time though.” Niki extended his hand to him. “Just hold my hand.”

“Thank you, Niki.” Sunoo said. He was very relieved.

Sunoo turned to the other vampires to say goodbye. “See you later.”

Niki reached to grab his hand impatiently.

“Close your eyes. You might get sick otherwise.”

Sunoo closed them.

Later that day, Sunoo felt very weak so he kindly refused when Sunghoon invited him to hang out
in their room.

Sunghoon looked worried but chose to not comment on it except telling him to let them know if he
needed anything.

Sunoo nodded even though he wouldn’t bother them anyway.

After taking his pills and drinking a protein shake, Sunoo skipped the shower and lied to his bed
with his outside clothes.

He put an alarm on his phone just in case he fell asleep so he could get up to take a shower before
ending the night.

Sunoo tiredly groaned and turned to lie on his back. He needed to pass the time until the pills
started working. Right then, Sunoo remembered the poem book he borrowed from Jake earlier the
day. He got up lazily and pulled out the book from his bag.

“This is so worn out.” He talked to himself. His fingers gently caressed the black leather. The
leather was full of cracks and stains.

He opened the cover curiously. Pages were yellowed.

There was no doubt Jake loved this book. He must have read it countless times.

Sunoo gently flipped the first page. At the back of the very first page, there was a small hand
written note.

To Jake,

I know you are not really interested in poems, especially the ones that are religious like this. But
somehow this became one of my favorites. I annotated it a little. Hope you can add something from
yourself too.

I love you forever.

- Sunny
And there it was. The strange yet familiar pain he felt in his chest before.

Sunoo touched his chest lightly and took a deep breath.

“Who is Sunny?” He couldn’t help but ask out loud. He frowned.

Sunoo flipped the book to check the rest of the pages quickly. He wanted to see if there were other
notes like this.

The book was filled with them.

Two different hand writings, along with little arrows that pointed out different lines and notes,
connecting them with others. The book was filled with annotations.

Sunoo figured some of them were left by Sunny, whoever that is, and the rest of them were from
Jake.

After a few quick looks, it was easy to tell them apart.

Sunny’s handwriting was small and it looked a little messy. Jake on the other hand had bigger and
neater letters.

Sunoo closed the book.

Even though Jake insisted for him to borrow it, Sunoo felt like he was reading something he wasn’t
supposed to. It felt wrong.

He placed the book on his nightstand. He was sure he could find the book on the internet. He
would read it on his phone and act like he read the one Jake gave him. He didn’t want to upset the
vampire by refusing to read his book and returning it.
Sunoo sighed.

He lied on his bed again. Soon after, he fell asleep.

Jay

If Jay could sleep, the only thing he would see in his sleep would be nightmares. He would see the
same moment, over and over again, like his own personal hell loop.

He would feel himself repeating the same motions, and he would feel the blood that dirtied his
hands again. He would hear the scream. Oh fuck, the scream.

Maybe it was a blessing dressed as a curse.

Jay didn’t move from his bed where he liked to pretend to be asleep.

He opened his eyes briefly before closing them shut quickly again. The bright light still managed
to hurt his sensitive eyes.

Jay pulled his eye band on. He then put on his earphones. This way, no one could bother him.

Except Heeseung.

But Jay knew he wouldn’t bother him. Heeseung knew how much Jay needed these quiet times and
he always respected him enough to give him space.

Jay was grateful.

He lied still for a few minutes. His favorite album was playing but he was too distracted to actually
listen to it.

He couldn’t help but remember a certain memory from a long time ago. It was with Sunoo.

They were in their living room, and the music they both loved very much was being played on the
piano by Heeseung. They were slow dancing. There were lots of kisses and laughter. There was
joy.

Jay remembered every single detail about that day. It was the last good moments he had with
Sunoo before everything ruined. His last few happy moments.

He would give anything to be able to go back in time and stop the catastrophe from happening.

But it was not possible. There was nothing he could do to stop it from happening. The guilt and
regret he experienced were permanent. The anger was alive. And it was eating him.

Jay smelt the familiar scent before he felt the bed move.

Jake sat on the bed and waited as if he was waiting for permission.

Jay turned off the music and removed his earphones. He patted his lap.

“Come here.”

Jake didn’t waste any second before lying on his lap.

Jay didn’t remove his eye band but he knew Jake didn’t mind. He held Jake’s left hand and
interfined their fingers slowly.

There was a painful bond only him and Jake could have. A mutual understanding of a shared
trauma. They could relate to each other in a way others couldn’t.
Jay was grateful that others didn’t share this burden with them, but he also couldn’t help wanting
them to be a part of it. The burden, however different it was for him and Jake, was hard to carry for
both of them.

Jay couldn’t even imagine how bad it was for Jake.

Because even though he was forever cursed because of his doings, he would never know the pain
that came from having to kill someone he loved the most in the universe.

Jay squeezed Jake’s hand.

“Everything will be okay.”

Jay whispered. Like a prayer.

Sunoo

Sunoo would never admit it out loud, but he always felt like an outsider his whole life. It wasn’t
because the people he grew up with excluded him. It was because Sunoo was different.

He wasn’t supposed to be with werewolves. He was not meant to grow up in a pack with people
who are nothing like him. And he wasn’t supposed to go into this fucked up university.

After 3 weeks in this university called Decelis, Sunoo learnt quickly that he was not actually
welcomed with open arms here.

Sure, they didn’t act like he wasn’t wanted here. All of the staff and professors treated him like
every other student. The problem was the students. Whoever Sunoo tried to talk to and befriend, no
matter “monster” or “human”, either cut the conversation short or just ignored him completely.

Monsters were ignoring him because he was a human and humans were ignoring him because he
was not part of their weird society/cult.

Sunoo tried every group. He tried other vampires, they were just rude. He tried fairies, they
threatened him. He was not dumb enough to try the werewolves, they didn’t like strangers and they
certainly didn’t like human strangers. The first human group he tried were kind enough to entertain
a few answers but they were quick enough to find an excuse and leave. The second human group,
which Sunoo realized later that was probably a religious satanic cult, just yelled “NO!” when
Sunoo tried to approach them. It wasn’t like Sunoo would want to befriend them anyway. Hmph.

“I swear I will lose my mind here, hyung.” Sunoo whined the second his brother answered his call.

He was truly grateful to the “almost” coven he befriended. He would be so pathetic without them.
“What is wrong, Sunoo?” Fuma frowned.

“I hate it here.” Sunoo said. “Please let me come back home.”

“You know you can’t.” Yudai yelled from outside the screen.

“I’m just so lonely here.” Sunoo sighed.

“Didn’t you make friends with a vampire coven?” Harua asked this time. Squeezing himself into
the tiny screen. He was whispering.

“I did. I like them a lot but I also miss you guys.” Sunoo confessed. He would never imagine
missing his loud and annoying brothers this much.

“Awwww.” He heard Taki say mockingly.

“Shut up.” Sunoo smiled.

“Speaking of vampires,” Fuma said with a stern tone. “Mom and dad don’t know that you made
friends with a coven. They don’t need any extra stress right now.”

“You didn’t tell them?” Sunoo was surprised.

“No.” Fuma confirmed. “Please don’t accidently mention them when you call them.”

“I don’t have a death wish.” Sunoo rolled his eyes.

“Also-” Euijoo interrupted. “Be careful. I’m sure they are nice guys but you can’t be too careful.”

“You don’t have to worry about that.” Niki replied.

Wait… Niki?

Sunoo turned so fast that he hurt his neck. He made a pained noise.

Niki laughed tastelessly and put his hand on Sunoo’s neck to start massaging it.

“Sunoo is like a family now. We wouldn’t hurt him.” Niki was staring into the camera like he was
annoyed. His fingers, however, were light like a feather on his neck.

“Sunoo already has a family.” Nicholas said. He was growling. Lightly, but clearly.

“Not that kind of a family.” Niki said this time. His annoyed expression turned into a cocky grin.

“Sorry about Niki.” Heeseung said this time. He appeared next to Sunoo and leaned towards the
camera.

“So nice to meet you. I’m Heeseung.” He smiled kindly. “You must be his brothers.”

“Yeah. We are.” Euijoo looked uncomfortable.

“Hyung, I will call you later.” Sunoo said hurriedly. It didn’t feel like a great time for meetings.
“You can meet later, okay?”

“Yeah sure.” Fuma sounded relieved. He must have felt the tension starting to grow. “See you later,
kit.”

The call ended and Sunoo took a deep breath.

“Kit?” Jungwon asked. He moved slowly to sit across the table, facing him.
“Oh,” Sunoo laughed. “It is like an inside joke. Do you know how minors in packs are called
pups? Since I’m not a werewolf, they call me kit instead. Like a baby fox.”

“I love it.” Jungwon nodded. Approving the nickname.

“Sorry about that by the way.” Sunoo said to the vampires. “They don’t really like vampires. And
they are already very stressed with all of the stuff that is going on.”

“What is going on?” Niki asked. He was still massaging Sunoo’s neck and he didn’t seem like he
was going to stop any time soon. Not that Sunoo complained anyway.

“Our pack is in some kind of war with another pack.” Sunoo explained. “That is why I came here
in the first place. They were worried about me so they sent me the furthest and safest place
possible.”

“You must be so worried too.” Jay commented.

“I am.” Sunoo confirmed. “But our pack is very strong. I know they will win in the end. And my
parents don’t allow my brothers to join. Which is good because the majority of them are still
pups.”

Niki stopped massaging his neck and sat next to the empty spot next to him.

“Do you also have names like pup for newly turned vampires?” Sunoo asked. “Also, for how long
will a vampire be seen as the ‘baby’ ?”

Jake burst out laughing.

“We call them new-borns.” Jake explained. “It takes a few years until a new-born matures enough
to control themselves.”

“Most covens also continue counting their human birthdays. For vampires, mental maturity still
works like humans’. If a vampire turns while being a minor, it will take some years until they
reach mental maturity.” Sunghoon explained further.

“That makes sense.” Sunoo nodded. “It would be a bummer if a teenager stuck in the mentality of a
teenager permanently.”

Sunoo pulled out his phone to check time to make sure he still had some time left for lunch.

“I got threatened by fairies today.” Sunoo said lightheartedly as he pulled a protein shake from his
bag. “I really hope they didn’t mean it.”

He heard a collective gasp from Jake and Jay.

“Did you take anything from them?” Jay asked, looking frantic.

“Did you give them your name?” Jake yelled.

“No and no.” Sunoo shaked his drink. “They just told me they would eat me if I go near them.”

“Good.” Jay put a hand on his chest. “I feel like I aged a hundred years in a few seconds.”

“You don’t look a day older than-” Sunoo squinted his eyes to take a look at the vampire for a few
seconds.

“22?” He finally decided. It sounded like a question. “I don’t know. You still look younger than
my oldest brothers.”

“Considering my real age, I will take it as a compliment.” Jay smiled.

“How old are you guys anyway?”

“Around 600. Give or take a couple more years.” Jungwon replied. He was playing with zipper of
Sunoo's bag.

“Oh.”

“Yeah we are old us fuck.” Niki said.

“I think it’s cool.” Sunoo smiled. “I would give anything to live for centuries with my lovers.”

There was a dead silence for a few moments.

Sunoo decided to change the topic when he noticed the atmosphere he accidentally created.

“Anyways, I don’t know if you guys like to eat pie. But I’m told I bake great pies.” Sunoo pulled
his phone again to show them pictures. The vampires immediately turned their attention to the
screen.

“I usually bake rabbit pie. I don’t eat it, of course. But my family swears they taste good.” Sunoo
showed them a couple of pictures he took. “I can bake you one if you want to. Without rabbit.”

“Can you teach me?” Jay asked.

“Of course.” Sunoo smiled. “Does that mean you want to try?”

“Yes!” Jungwon seemed enthusiastic enough. Other vampires nodded.

“Apple or blueberry?”
Then

“Where the fuck is he?” Jay asked. He was pacing non stop for 20 minutes now. His wings were
tightly shut on his back, showing that he was genuinely stressed and vulnerable. Even if his voice
sounded angry, everyone knew how truly worried he was.

“I’m sure he will be home soon, Jay-ah.” Heeseung tried to comfort the younger.

Jay shrugged Heeseung’s hand from his shoulder and continued pacing.

At the other end of the room, Jake was standing like a statue.

“Why did you leave him there, hyung?” Jungwon asked. It was clear from his tone that he was not
blaming Jake, but he was curious. “You know how he is.”

“I’m sorry.” was all Jake could say.

Jungwon squeezed Jake’s shoulder and walked towards the others. Niki was leaning against the
door, arms crossed tightly. His face was serious.

“He is probably on his way home.” Sunghoon said.

“He is 20 minutes late.” Jay said. “What if-”

His voice cut off when he heard the door being knocked.

Niki quickly moved away from the door he was leaning in and turned to open it.

“Sunoo?” He asked as he was opening the door.

Sunoo looked… distraught.

Niki quickly grabbed Sunoo and patted him to check for any injuries.

“Are you hurt?” He asked frantically. Sunoo not looking at any of them worried him even more.

“I’m not hurt.” Sunoo said softly.

“Did you get caught?” Jay asked. He grabbed Sunoo’s shoulder gently.

“No.” Sunoo shook his head.

“Sunny, look at me.” Jake walked towards him, he then grabbed his chin to force eye contact.

Sunoo looked at him for a brief second before hugging the older.

“I’m sorry, hyung. Were you worried?” He asked.

“Did something happen?” Jake insisted.

Sunoo hesitated for a few seconds before answering. “No.”

“Don’t lie, please.” Jake begged.

“It is not your fault.”

“Sunoo.”

“It is not your fault. I’m sorry.” Sunoo cried. “I’m sorry. It is not your fault.”
Jake hugged him tighter.

“It is not your fault. Hyung.” Sunoo started sobbing. “It’s my fault. Mine. ”

Chapter End Notes

One thing about me: I care deeply about little tiny details. Anything you notice and
didn't notice yet is there or happened for a reason. I'm like an Easter bunny if I was
VERY generous about giving out Easter eggs (idk I'm not Christian and I'm not even
sure if little spoilers count as Easter eggs) Changes and extra things happen for a
reason. Isn't it fun?

Comments and kudos are appreciated.

Also unrelated to the fic, I was listening to "Tomorrow Never Came" by Lana Del Rey
while writing this. If you didn't listen to it yet, I recommend it. One of my favorite
songs of her.

Much love, Duckz.

vampires stalk (it's okay because it's sunoo) and blush. apparently.

Sunoo

Fall came early that year.

It was only early September but Sunoo could already feel the gloomy weather and see the darkened
sky. There must have been something magical about the Decelis University when he thought about
it. Sometimes, most of the time, he felt like he was in a different universe. Or maybe in a different
time.

Sunoo wished he brought something more suitable for fall to wear. He wrapped his arms around
his body and tried to walk the rest of the way as quickly as possible. There was a narrow
cobblestone walkway connecting the buildings. Following the walkway, it was almost impossible
to get lost. Everything was connected in some way. Even when they are separate.

Sunoo's quick steps towards to his morning class interrupted by someone grabbing his arm. He let
out a surprised yelp and turned to his back.

“Did I scare you?” Asked Sunghoon. From the look on his face, it was clear that he wanted to scare
him. With a small smile, Sunghoon removed his hand.

“I saw you walking alone so I figured I could accompany you.”

“I wasn’t scared.” Sunoo lied. He was a little embarrassed about the noise he made.

Sunghoon laughed and took Sunoo’s arm. With now intertwined arms, they started to walk slowly.

“You are not late, are you?” Sunghoon asked. He raised his arm to check the time.

“I still have some time.” Sunoo answered. He tried to hold back a shiver.
“Which class?”

“This one is math.”

“I hate math.” Sunghoon said. “Do you like it?”

“I don’t hate it but I also don’t particularly enjoy it.” Sunoo replied. “At least it’s not the most
boring one I’m taking this semester.”

“Yeah. It could be worse.” Sunghoon commented. “Like physics.”

They didn’t have to walk too much before they arrived in front of the building Sunoo was supposed
to go in.

“Thank you for walking with me, hyung.” Sunoo smiled.

“Sunoo wait!” Sunghoon called when Sunoo was about to leave.

“Here,” Sunghoon took off his brown puffy jacket and handed it to him. “You look cold.”

“Hyung,” Sunoo took the jacket but he was hesitant to accept it. “What about you?” He asked
worriedly.

“Vampires don’t get cold.” Sunghoon said. “What we wear is mostly for fashion, or because we
love the texture.”

Sunghoon helped him wear the jacket. It was at least two sizes too big for Sunoo but it was so
comfortable. Sunoo touched the soft material as Sunghoon zipped up the jacket for him.

“Thank you, hyung. I will wash it before returning it.”

“No, you can keep it.” Sunghoon replied hurriedly. “It looks better on you anyway.”

“Are you sure?” Sunoo asked.

“Yes.” Sunghoon smiled shyly. “See you during lunch break?”

“Sure.” Sunoo nodded. “Thank you for the gift.”

“You’re welcome.”

Vampires

“Any luck yet?” Heeseung asked without raising his head. He was scanning through a book
carefully and he wouldn’t risk missing something if he took his eyes off it for a second.

“No.” Jungwon sighed. “But we only just started the research. I’m sure we will find something,
eventually.”

“I don’t even know what we are looking for.” Niki grunt.

“You will know it when you see it.” Jay stood up to switch the book with another one. “I’m mostly
curious to learn if there are other vampires that were angels before turning. Like us.”

“Fallen angels are a thing we already know about. But they just turn into regular humans that don’t
age.” Jake thought out loud. “And the regular vampires were humans before they turned.”
“I think I’m going to have a headache.” Sunghoon closed the book and stood up to leave. His
fingers were massaging his temples. “I need to get some fresh air.”

“I will come with you.” Niki teleported next to him. “I’m so bored.”

“You are just going to watch Sunoo, aren’t you?” Jungwon asked with a knowing tone.

“No.” Niki refused. “He has a class right now.”

“I thought we all agreed that watching people without their knowing counts as stalking and it’s not
okay.” Jungwon stared at him with a serious face. “I know you teleported to his room last night.”

“Niki…” Jake said in disapproval.

“But-” Niki sounded defeated. “It is Sunoo.”

“I know you miss him. But you can’t watch him like that.” Heeseung spoke softly.

“I know. It is just… Now that he is here it just became so much harder for me to go without seeing
him constantly.”

“I get it. I feel like I became greedy too.” Sunghoon confessed. “I started to go out early so I can
walk him to his classes.”

“I’m running out of recipes to bake.” Jay chuckled.

“Jungwonie and I are taking an extra class so we can see Sunoo more.” Jake confessed. “He didn’t
notice us yet.”

“I guess we all do some creepy things.” Jungwon sighed. He seemed to accept that they were all
creepy about Sunoo.
“What about you, hyung?” He asked. “Are you listening to him?”

“No.” Heeseung answered quickly. “I only listened the first day to see if he remembers us.”

Jungwon watched as the older man stood up from his seat and moved towards the window.

“Sometimes I unintentionally listen to him. But it is more like picking up a few words from a full
sentence.” He raised his arm to wipe out a spot from the window glass. “I think I’m kind of scared
to learn something I don’t want to know.”

Sunoo

“You seem familiar.” Mumbled one of the human guys from the Satanist cult.

Sunoo, 2 members from the cult, a werewolf and a fairy were assigned into a group for a project by
their Professor. It was almost like a joke. A human, werewolf and a fairy walk into a bar. But
instead, they walked into a library.

“Shut up, Kevin.” Another human of their group warned Kevin with a sharp tone.

“No.” The fairy, Sunoo had no idea about her name, interrupted. “He seems familiar to me too. It
makes me uncomfortable.”

“Didn’t he go around introducing himself to everyone in the first weeks?” The werewolf spoke
nonchalantly.
“Oh.” Kevin mumbled. “You are that guy.”

“Can we continue with our research?” Sunoo asked. He was very annoyed by the weird stares he
started to receive from them.

“Are you friends with the vampires?” Werewolf ignored his request. “I heard you grew up in a
pack. What would your family think if they knew you are befriending the natural enemy?”

“It is none of your business.” Sunoo challenged him. Growing up in a pack taught him many
things. And one of them was to never step back from a fight. In this case, it was a staring contest to
show him that he had no authority over Sunoo.

Werewolf growled but averted his gaze.

Sunoo almost smiled. Almost .

“Let’s just split the parts so everyone can do the work alone.” Fairy suggested. “It is clear that
none of us enjoy being together.”

“Agreed.” The other human that was not Kevin, pushed the paperwork to the center so everyone
could see clearly. “Kevin and I can do the survey.”

“I can do the 19th century part.” Fair pointed out. “I lived through it.”

“Leave the rest of the research to me.” Werewolf stood up to pack his stuff.

“What about me?” Sunoo asked confusedly. There was nothing else left for him to do.

“We can send you our research and you can combine them all together.” Fairy suggested. “There
are many things left for you to do. Like making the report.”

“Okay.” Sunoo sighed. “I guess you can send me an email?”

“I don’t use a computer.” Fairy frowned.

“What about you?” Sunoo turned to ask the rest of the group.

“We will send an email.” Kevin said.

“Yeah.” Werewolf nodded. “I guess we are done.”

When everyone agreed, it only took a few moments until Sunoo was left alone. Sunoo sighed once
again and started to pack his own stuff slowly. He could only hope they would send their work
early enough for him to complete the report. Or it would be one of those projects that he would
have to do an all-nighter to complete it.

“How dumb are those guys?”

Sunoo was startled by the sudden voice.

“Niki?” Sunoo put a hand on his chest out of habit. “Are you trying to kill me?”

Niki’s grin disappeared quickly. “No. I’m sorry.”

Sunoo rolled his eyes but couldn’t help smiling at the pouting vampire.

“It is okay.” Sunoo said. He didn’t stop the vampire when he reached out to zip his bag and throw
it on his shoulder. “They were a little rude, yes.”

“You are being nice. They were assholes.” Niki said.

“How long have you been listening to us?”

Niki looked embarrassed. “Not much. I just got worried when I heard a growling so I stepped
closer just in case.” He said softly.

“You are cute.” Sunoo couldn’t hold back. His smile grew bigger when he noticed the slight blush
on the vampire’s cheeks.

Vampires can blush? Huh.

“If you are done, we can go back together.” Niki suggested.

“Sure.” Sunoo wore his jacket. It was the jacket Sunghoon gave him a day ago. “Are we going to
teleport?”

“Actually I was thinking of walking?” Niki averted his eyes. “If you are not tired, of course.”

“I would love to walk with you.”

“Cool.”

Then

“This is my first time coming here.” Heeseung says. He sits next to Niki when he gets no protest
from the younger.

“Don’t read my mind.” Niki warns. He slides closer to him.

“I promise I won’t.”

“I always find myself here.” Niki confesses after minutes of shared silence. “I don’t think I even
think about coming here, I just… come here.”

“I think it is lovely that you found this place even without knowing where it was.”

Niki chuckles. But it is far from joy. “It is like torture, hyung.”

“Niki-”

“I can’t escape.” Niki says. “I try teleporting back. But it just won’t work. At least right away. So I
either have to walk all the way back or I have to sit here for hours until I can teleport back.”

“How long has this been going on?” Heeseung asks, even though deep down he knows the answer.

Niki still entertains an answer.

“Since the day we turned. You know, right after.” Niki shrugs. “It is painful but I think I would
rather be here than be at the house .”

It was home back then. But not now.

“I run away too.” Heeseung says after a while. “At first I couldn’t control what I heard and it was
very hard.”

“It must suck.” Niki says emphatically. He doesn’t move his gaze from the scenery.

“It sucked.” Heeseung confirms. “But it got better. Everything gets better with time.”

“Not this one.” Niki refuses. “I don’t think this will get better.”
Heeseung has nothing to say.

So they sit together. None of them tries to start a conversation again. While Niki stares at one spot,
Heeseung takes his time to really see everything.

This was Sunoo’s favorite spot after all.

sleepover (but not really)

Sunoo

Sunoo wasn’t really a depressive person. Despite being born with an illness that is technically
terminal and being abandoned by his birth parents because of said illness, he always tried to be a
positive person.

Sure, it wasn’t always sunshines and rainbows for him but he mostly tried to enjoy whatever he
had. Every human died eventually. He was just very aware of his limited time. It wasn’t that bad,
really. Knowing that he had limited time on this earth made him appreciate the small things. Like
the sky. The sunset and sunrise. The night sky. Cuddling with his family. Playing with his brothers.
Spending time with his friends.

Every moment was precious and special for him.

The only downside would be the pain, probably.

Having a chronic (terminal) illness meant most of the time he would be in some kind of pain.
Sunoo was always tired and he would be in constant pain if he wasn’t on hundreds of medicines.
Doctors weren’t sure what exactly was wrong with him. He had a weak heart, he had arrhythmia,
he had 2 cardiac arrests (last one was almost 3 years ago), he also had a pacemaker before but it
caused more damage than benefits so it was removed. Since no one knew what was the actual
problem, the only “cure” would be a heart transplant but it was a possibility that was too low to
count on.

In short, Sunoo was doomed.

“This is very weird.” The doctor Sunoo was seeing said in disbelief. “I’ve never seen something
like this before.”

Sunoo sighed.

“Not the first time I’m hearing it.” Sunoo started to button his sweater.
“I can clearly see the symptoms but I’m having a hard time finding the root cause.” Doctor seemed
distraught. “What medicines are you on right now?”

“I took them with me, actually.” Sunoo unzipped his bag to take out his pouch that carried all his
medicines. He handed the pouch to the doctor and waited patiently as he carefully examined all.

“Would you say these work well for you?” The doctor handed him the pouch back. “There is no
need to change something that works for you.”

“I’m not sure.” Sunoo said. “I guess the ones I take for arrhythmia work fine. But lately I’m
struggling with the pain and I’m more tired than usual. I’m having a hard time walking around. I
feel very sleepy.”

“I see.” The doctor went back to his desk to open a cabinet. “I will give you a new pain medicine
and some other stuff for the tiredness.”

He put three bottles on his desk and picked up a notepad. “I’m writing the instructions here. I also
put my number. You can call me for any emergency. And I mean it.”

“Oh.” Sunoo was genuinely surprised. “Thank you.”

“It is literally my job.” The doctor said with a smile. He turned his face towards the door like he
was trying to hear something. After a moment, he turned back to Sunoo with a smile again.
“Someone is waiting for you.”

“What?”

“My vampire gift is super hearing.” The doctor explained. “Not as fancy as some are but works
well with my job.”

“Can he hear us?” Sunoo asked worriedly.

“No. Even for vampires, the walls are way too thick for them to hear.” Doctor assured him. “I will
see you in two weeks.”

Sunoo thanked once again and hurriedly left the room to see who was waiting for him.

Surprisingly, it was Jungwon.

“How did it go?” Jungwon asked the second he saw Sunoo.

“Fine. He gave me new medicines.” Sunoo let him carry his bag for him. It was already a routine
for him and vampires. “How did you know that I was here?”

“Jake hyung saw you coming here.” Jungwon admitted. He took Sunoo’s arm and linked them
together. “Class or your room?”

“Neither.” Sunoo lightly pulled Jungwon to the other way. “I wanted to sit in the garden a little.”

“I can… come?” Jungwon sounded surprised.

“Of course.” Sunoo smiled. “I love company.”

They could only walk for a few minutes before Sunoo succumbed to curiosity.

“Can I ask something?”

Jungwon laughed. “I love your questions. You can ask me anything.”

“Since your gift is super-speed… Is it uncomfortable for you to walk slowly? Like in my pace for
example?”

“Hmm.” Jungwon halted for a few seconds. “I wouldn’t say it is uncomfortable. But it is kind of an
unnatural feeling I guess.”

Sunoo hummed in understanding.

“But I love walking at your pace.” Jungwon confessed. He turned to look at Sunoo’s eyes bravely.
“You don’t have to worry about me, okay?”

“I can’t believe I’ve never seen this drama before!” Sunoo complained with a mouth full of
popcorn.

He was having a “sleepover” with Jungwon and Sunghoon and even though he tried to explain that
“it wasn’t technically a sleepover if Sunoo was the only one sleeping and eating”, the vampires
didn’t take any criticism.

“It’s a very old drama.” Jungwon said. He snuggled closer to Sunoo. "Ancient, even."

“You are cold.” Sunoo whined jokingly.

“You will beg me to cuddle you when it is summer and I will say no.”

“I bet I can find someone else to play the ice mold.”

“I volunteer.” Sunghoon raised his hand.

“See.” Sunoo sticked out his tongue playfully.

“We should do this more often.” Jungwon said after a few minutes of silence. “It is so much fun
with you.”
“His reactions are so funny.” Sunghoon agreed.

“I’m down as long as you stop saying whatever this is 'a sleepover'. ” Sunoo rolled his eyes.

“It is a sleepover!” Sunghoon opposed. “I’m even wearing a onesie!”

Sunoo held back his laugh.

“Are you going to pretend to sleep then?”

“We will rest our eyes.”

“Isn’t it boring?”

“Well, kind of yes.”

“We won’t creepily watch you sleeping, I promise.” Jungwon chimed in. “It’s always so noisy in
our room. We would appreciate some quiet time here.”

“Okay then.” Sunoo didn’t have any reason to say no. For some reason, the thought of sleeping
with them made him feel safe.

“One more episode?” Sunghoon asked expectantly.

“Sure, but don’t get mad if I fall asleep in the middle.” Sunoo warned. He was already feeling very
sleepy. The only reason he wasn’t lying down already was because of the fact that he was being
(lightly) squished between Jungwon and Sunghoon on both sides.

“We won’t.” Jungwon assured. He threw his arm over Sunoo’s shoulder but he didn’t put any
weight on him. Sunoo figured it was to touch Sunghoon.
“You will hate the lead guy.” Sunghoon pressed play.
feelings, intertwined

Vampires

“Is it just me or is Sunoo acting weird?” Jungwon asked when everyone (except Sunoo) gathered
in one of the private rooms of the library.

“What do you mean?” Sunghoon immediately lifted his head from the book he was reading.

“I’m not sure.” Jungwon bit his tongue in thought. “I think he is ignoring me.”

“Why would you think that?” Jake sounded worried. “I’m sure he is not ignoring you.”

“No, he is ignoring him.” Niki confirmed. His usual smug expression was replaced by a thoughtful
one. “Today he changed his way when he saw Jungwon was coming.”

“He hates me!” Jungwon sounded defeated.

Heeseung chuckled. “He doesn’t hate you.”

“He doesn’t?” Jungwon asked hopefully.

Jay frowned as he turned to look at Heeseung. “I thought you didn’t listen to him.”

“I don’t listen to him.” Heeseung looked offended. “I can’t help but hear when his thoughts are
loud.”

Jungwon sat in the empty spot next to Heeseung. “Why is he ignoring me then?”
“He has a crush on you.” Heeseung smiled. “He also thinks you are adorable.”

“WHAT?”

“Not fair!” Niki yelled. “He fell for Jungwon first in the past too!”

“I’m that lovable.” Jungwon playfully stuck his tongue out. “I would rather him think that I’m hot
though.”

“One done, five left.” Sunghoon clapped his hands. “We can do it!”

“Let’s just take it slow, okay?” Jake tried to calm the atmosphere. “He has only known us for 2
months.”

“2 months and 11 days.” Niki corrected.

“The point is, we should wait.” Jay decided to interfere. “I think we should just let it be. I don’t
think it would be right if we tried to force our way to his heart. We should just let him develop
feelings for us naturally. And that is if he ever develops feelings for us.”

“I hate how pessimistic you are.” Jake complained.

“He is right.” Heeseung sighed. “He might develop feelings for all of us. Or some of us. Or maybe
it was only for Jungwon. We should be prepared for everything.”

“It sucks.” Niki groaned. Heeseung could sense that he was getting angry. “I don’t think I can live
knowing that Sunoo doesn’t love me like he did before.”

“Don’t say that.” Jay tried to reach to hold Niki’s arm but the younger pushed his hand off.

“I need to be alone.”
“He will be fine.” Jungwon comforted the older vampires when Niki disappeared.

“He is having a very hard time.” Sunghoon whispered. “It is not as bad as before but it is bad.”

“Now I’m even more worried.” Jay stood up to leave. But he was stopped by Jake.

“He will be fine.” Jake repeated Jungwon’s words. “Because now he has hope .”

Jay sat back in his chair.

“What are you going to do with Sunoo?” Jake asked Jungwon to change the topic.

“What should I do?” Jungwon suddenly looked panicked. “Last time I wooed someone was like
500 years ago.”

“It’s called ‘flirting’ now.” Jay changed his book with Niki’s.

“Not the point.” Jungwon rolled his eyes.

“Catch him when he is alone and take him somewhere romantic.” Sunghoon laid back in his chair.
“You watch so many romcoms, you should’ve picked some stuff from them by now.”

“I will if he stops running away when he sees me.”

“You have insane speed. You could catch him if you wanted to. Besides, Sunoo is very slow even
for a human.”

“Take him to the town.” Heeseung suggested. “There is so much stuff to do there.”
“Sunoo mentioned that he wanted to see the town before.” Jake nodded. “Town is a good idea.”

“Should I take the car?”

“Obviously. Even though carrying him would be ‘romantic’, it is not that comfortable.” Sunghoon
gave him the keys.

“I’m not going now. ”

“Why not?”

“I don’t know if he is free today!”

“He is free.” Heeseung chimed in.

“Maybe he doesn’t want to go with me.”

“Why are you scared?” Jay asked.

Jungwon wasn’t sure what he was scared of.

“You won’t mess things up, if that is what you are scared of.” Jay tried to assure. “We already
know that he likes you. He also always had a soft spot for you. He adores you.”

“I will try. ” Jungwon sounded defeated. “I need to find an excuse to invite him first.”
Sunoo

Sunoo knew he needed to follow the gloomy vampire the second he saw him wandering in the
garden alone.

He had a sullen expression on his face and the fact that he was walking instead of randomly
teleporting around was enough to make Sunoo worry about Niki.

For some reason, he knew he was supposed to be with him.

Sunoo hurriedly ran behind the tall vampire but it wasn’t long before Sunoo was out of breath and
struggling.

“Niki-” he managed to call before stopping to rest.

Thankfully, Niki was able to hear him.

Within a second, the vampire was standing next to Sunoo with an extremely worried look on his
face. Niki gently put his hand on Sunoo’s shoulder.

“Are you okay?”

“Yes.” Sunoo took a deep breath before straightening his body. “I should’ve called you before
trying to run after you.”

Niki’s apparent worry never left his face. His grip on Sunoo’s shoulder tightened.

“Were you looking for me?” He asked confusedly.

“Not exactly.” Sunoo smiled. “I saw you walking alone and I wanted to ask if I could join you.”
“Oh.”

Niki removed his hand from Sunoo’s shoulder.

“So?”

“So what?”

“Can I join you?”

“Yes.” Niki answered quickly.

“Good.” Sunoo grabbed the vampire’s arm excitedly. “Let’s go then!”

“Maybe we should sit down a little.” Niki suggested, he pointed to the marble bench.

Sunoo figured Niki suggested it because he could hear Sunoo’s irregular heartbeats. Jay has
mentioned before that they had heightened hearing and it was very easy to hear human heart beats.

“Only for a few minutes.” Sunoo accepted the offer. “Then we can walk.”

“Are you okay, Niki?” Sunoo asked once they sat down on the bench. The bench was very small so
they had to squeeze in it. Sunoo’s legs were practically on top of Niki’s.

“What?” Niki looked uncomfortable but Sunoo wasn’t sure if it was because they were close to
each other or if it was because of the question.

“You looked kind of upset.” Sunoo explained. “I was worried.”

“Oh.” Niki averted his gaze. “I was upset. But I’m not anymore.”

“Do you want to talk about it?”

“No.” Niki shook his head. His voice small.

“Are you uncomfortable right now?” Sunoo tried to figure out the problem. “We don’t have to sit
here. I already feel better.”

“No!” Niki looked at him like he was insane. His gaze softened when their eyes met. “I’m not
really good at regulating my emotions.”

“Do you have to?”

Niki, once again, looked confused. “What do you mean?”

Sunoo smiled kindly. He was dying to reach and grab his hands but he wasn’t sure if Niki would be
comfortable with it or not.

“Emotions exist for a reason.” Sunoo tried to explain. “We need to live with them. I mean yes, we
should not let anger consume us and hurt people around us. Especially hurt us. But we also need to
experience them. I think the main problem with people is that we tried too hard to not feel what we
feel that we lost how to be a person.”

“That is deep.” Niki teased lightheartedly.

“What I’m trying to say is,” Sunoo tried to look into the vampire’s eyes when he said the next
words “I think you hold yourself back from feeling what you are feeling that it started to consume
you.”

Niki stayed quiet for a few moments. He looked like he was really thinking about what Sunoo
said.
“Sometimes I feel like I feel nothing at all.” Niki whispered. “And sometimes I feel like I feel
everything at once. And it scares me because I don’t know what I feel or how to stop it.”

“You don’t like when Sunghoon hyung helps you, do you?” Sunoo asked.

“No.” Niki said sharply. “Maybe it would be better if he helped but I don’t want to be manipulated
.”

Sunoo thought quietly for a few minutes. He wanted to help Niki the best he could so he needed to
pick his words carefully.

“I don’t know what happened in the past that made you think of Sunghoon hyung’s emotion
control as manipulation .” Sunoo started. He tried to not sound accusing. “But I can see why it can
be one. I can also understand you for not wanting his help with regulating your emotions. You
don’t have to get his help just because he can control them. Does that make sense?”

Sunoo saw Niki giving him a little nod.

“Your emotions belong to you.” Sunoo touched lightly on the vampire’s chest. “You are supposed
to feel them. Let them out. Don’t try to ignore them. If you want to cry, cry. If you want to yell,
yell. Let people know how you feel. Let yourself know how you feel.”

Sunoo heard Niki take a deep breath.

“It might be hard at first. You might be embarrassed to show people.” Sunoo shrugged. “But you
have a great gift. You can teleport somewhere, let your feelings out.”

Sunoo only noticed that his hand was still on Niki’s chest when the vampire grabbed it and
intertwined their fingers. The gesture might have seemed romantic, but there was something
innocent about it.

“And,” Sunoo pushed, a smile growing on his face. “If you ever feel sad, and need comfort. You
can and you should go to other people for comfort. There is nothing wrong about being
vulnerable.”
Niki stayed quiet for a few seconds. “Jake hyung gives the best hugs.” He said in a small voice.

“Then go and hug him!” Sunoo squeezed his hand. “I also give good hugs. Just so you know.”

“Is this an open invitation?” Niki smiled.

“Yes. And you can abuse it.” Sunoo smiled too. “But please don’t appear in my bathroom. I would
die from embarrassment.”

Sunoo decided that Niki’s laugh was one of the most beautiful sounds he had ever heard.

“How are you feeling now?” Sunoo asked after their laughter died.

Niki closed his eyes and he stayed quiet for a few seconds. “I think I feel… Serene .”
crushes and falling in love (no-one is counting)

Sunoo

“Thank you for inviting me.” Sunoo said as he went inside the car.

Hours ago, Jungwon called him to tell that he had something to do in the town and to ask if he
would want to join him. Sunoo was quick to accept the offer since he already wanted to go to the
town and he also wanted to spend some time with Jungwon.

Now, Sunoo couldn’t deny that he had been kind of ignoring (aka running away) Jungwon for a
while now. It wasn’t because he didn’t like the vampire or anything. It was actually quite the
opposite. Since the day Sunoo realized he liked Jungwon in more than a friend way , it was hard
for him to be around him. He knew vampires could pick up the way his heart beats when he is
around Jungwon and he didn’t want to give away his silly crush just yet. He especially didn’t want
other vampires to find out about his crush on Jungwon. He wasn’t sure how they would react to
Sunoo having a silly human crush towards their mate of several centuries. Sunoo knew they
weren’t in any open relationship. They all seemed very in love, happy and content with each other.
And none of them made any comments or remarks about being interested or open for other
relationships.

Now you would wonder why he would agree to be alone with Jungwon after ignoring him for
days?

The thing is, Sunoo was a weak man. Not only physically but also emotionally. Sunoo was always
the type that followed the heart more than the brain. No matter how hard Sunoo tried to stop
feeling what he felt for Jungwon, it didn’t seem like it was something he could run away from.
And besides, he liked Jungwon too much to decline having some alone time to spend time with
him. He could only hope Jungwon wouldn’t notice the way his heart beats fast when he is around
him.

“Thank you for joining.” Jungwon smiled big. He reached out to buckle Sunoo’s seatbelt. “My
arrangements there should only take a few minutes so we will have plenty of time to wander
around.”

Sunoo smiled in excitement and ignored his accelerated heartbeat when Jungwon reached once
again to fix his seat for him.

“Let’s go.” Jungwon said once he seemed pleased with everything. He turned on the engine and
frowned when he tried to change the gear shift.

“Fuck.” He cursed softly. “I forgot this car is automatic.”

“You never driven this car before?” Sunoo asked.

“This car is Heeseung hyung’s.” Jungwon explained. “My car is not automatic so I’m not really
sure how to use this one.”

“It is easy.” Sunoo pointed out the gear shift. “You just leave it in D.”

“Can you drive?”

“I don’t have a license.” Sunoo chuckled. “My brothers taught me how to drive though.”

Jungwon started driving.

“This is so much easier.” Jungwon said after a while.

“Yes. I can’t drive manuals that well.” Sunoo turned his attention from the window to Jungwon
again.

“I can teach you.” Jungwon offered. “If you want.” He added quickly.

“That would be great.” Sunoo accepted the offer. He could practically feel his cheeks getting
warmer. “I’m a hard student though.”

“I have the patience and the time.” Jungwon smiled.

“I feel like I should offer to teach you something too.” Sunoo teased. “Though I’m not sure if I
know something you don’t already know.”

“I can act like I don’t know.”

“Yeah? Should I teach you how to make ramen? I will make it 10 long steps so you can learn it just
right.”

“Sounds perfect.” Jungwon laughed. “I want to see the 10 step ramen making.”

Sunoo joined Jungwon’s laughter.

The rest of the road went mostly in silence with a few short comments about the scenery. Sunoo
was in awe about the never ending road full of trees and the bushes. If it wasn’t for the asphalt
driveway, Sunoo would think no human ever put a step on this place.

“Here we are.” Jungwon announced once they could see the streetlights. All of the sudden, the
trees were gone and the stone houses that looked at least a century old started to appear. Sunoo
could hear the faint sound of music blasting outside.

“Wow.” He couldn’t help but shout with excitement.

“Maybe we could try to find the party after.” Jungwon offered.

“I wonder if this place is like this everyday.” Sunoo unbuckled his seatbelt when they stopped. “I
miss going to parties. Or outside.”

“Not everyday but several times a week.” Jungwon turned off the engine. “Niki comes here often
to dance.”

“Oh, I’m jealous.”

“I’m sure he would love to take you too.” Jungwon was out of his seat and opened Sunoo’s door in
a second.

Sunoo took Jungwon’s hand and let him help get out of the car.

“So, what is it that you have to do?” Sunoo asked when they started to walk toward the music.

“Oh,” Jungwon halted for a few seconds. “I need ink for my fountain pen.” He laughed nervously.

“I always forget how old you actually are.” Sunoo laughed. “You and Niki not allowing me to call
you hyung doesn’t help either.”

“What do you mean?” Jungwon genuinely seemed curious rather than offended.

“No one really uses fountain pens anymore.” Sunoo shrugged.

“Well, they write very nicely.” Jungwon reached to hold Sunoo’s arm as they were about to cross
the street. “Does it bother you to not use honorifics with Niki and I?”

“Not really.” Sunoo shook his head. “It is just strange to not call someone who is centuries older
than me hyung.”

“I get it.” Jungwon said after a moment. “In my case, it just doesn’t feel right for you to call me
hyung I guess. I don’t know.”

“I really don’t mind, Jungwon-ah.” Sunoo smiled, hoping it would ease the vampire. “As long as
you are happy and comfortable.”

“You are always so nice.” Jungwon sighed. He got closer to Sunoo a little bit more.

“I try to be.” Sunoo really wished he could reach and grab his hand.
Sunoo didn’t mind when Jungwon stayed silent as they continued walking slowly.

“This is the place.” Jungwon pointed out the little bookshop standing a little far away. “They also
sell stationary.”

“I wonder if they sell comic books.” Sunoo thought out loud. He wanted to buy some for Niki.

“What is a comic book?” Jungwon asked so curiously that Sunoo had to stop and stare at the
vampire for a few seconds.

“Are you serious?” He asked in disbelief when he realized Jungwon was not joking.

“I’m not really following up with the recent trends.” Jungwon seemed ashamed.

Sunoo reached to grab Jungwon’s hand without a thought when he realized he made the other
upset. “I’m sorry Jungwon-ah.” he said. “I didn’t mean to make fun of you.”

Jungwon’s mode visibly lit up with Sunoo’s words. He smiled and squeezed his hand back before
shaking his head.

“No, it is okay.” Jungwon tilted his head in obvious curiosity. “But seriously, what is a comic
book?”

“They are visual novels, basically. They have drawings on them. Instead of writing out the scenes,
they draw them, basically. Like reading a tv show?”

“I want to see one.” Jungwon looked interested.

“I will buy you one if they sell it here.” Sunoo smiled and pulled him towards the bookshop. “As a
gift.”
Rest of their day went pretty fast after their hour-long stay in the bookshop. Sunoo picked out a few
comics for Niki and Jungwon and bought himself a poem book. While Sunoo was busy looking
around, Jungwon disappeared for a long 30 minutes and he appeared back with visibly no
purchase. Jungwon mentioned he bought some stuff but he didn’t show what he bought.

After the bookshop, they walked around the town and stopped by a cafe so Sunoo could rest and
eat dinner.

“Are you not hungry?” Sunoo asked when he was done ordering his food.

“We will hunt tonight.” Jungwon pulled out his phone. He quickly typed something on his phone
before putting it back to his pocket. “I don’t have a big appetite.”

“How often do you eat?”

“Me? Once a week. Others eat 2-3 times a week. Niki sometimes goes once every two weeks. But
he drinks human blood only so he doesn’t need to eat as often.”

“I guess it changes for every vampire.”

Jungwon nodded.

“Did you ever date, Sunoo?”

Sunoo knew Jungwon was kind of blunt and direct but he didn’t really expect him to ask something
like this so randomly.

“Not really.” Sunoo replied. His heart started racing. I would like to date you though.

“Are you okay?” Jungwon must have noticed the accelerated heartbeat. He looked worried.
“Yes.” Sunoo nodded quickly. “I have never dated anyone before.”

“What about love?” Jungwon pressed. “Did you ever fall in love?”

Sunoo felt his cheeks burning. Was Jungwon trying to kill him?

“I don’t think so.” Sunoo whispered. He averted his gaze. “I had crushes before though.”

Jungwon hummed. Sunoo didn’t dare to raise his head to look at him.

“I apologize.” Jungwon said after a minute. He sounded genuine. “I made you uncomfortable.”

“It is okay.” Sunoo still refused to look at the vampire.

“I fell in love 6 times.” Jungwon said. “I guess I can say 7 times now. I don’t know. I’m not sure if
I should count it or not.”

Sunoo finally raised his head to look at him. Jungwon’s stare was already on him.

He looked… kind of sad.

Sunoo was speechless. What does he mean? Did Jungwon lose a lover? Is he in love with someone
new right now?

“Anyways.” Jungwon said to change the topic. He didn’t seem to talk about this any longer. “I
bought you something.” He reached into his front pocket and pulled out a black box.

“What?”

Jungwon chuckled and placed the box in front of Sunoo. When Sunoo made no movements to open
it, he opened it himself.
“It’s a fountain pen.” He pulled out the golden pen. It was decorated with emerald stones and
Sunoo’s name was engraved on it in cursive. “Since you never had one before, I figured I would be
the one that gave you one.”

Sunoo took the pen carefully. It was surprisingly light.

“It is so pretty.” Sunoo whispered. “Thank you, Jungwon.”

“I’m glad you liked it.”

“I also bought you something.” Sunoo reached for his bookbag. “It is not as fancy as this pen, but I
bought you a copy of my favorite comic book.”

Sunoo pulled out the book and gave it to Jungwon who waited with open hands. He looked very
excited.

“Thank you!” Jungwon said. His eyes sparkling with excitement. “I will probably finish this
tonight.”

“Hope you like it.” Sunoo pulled the other comic books from his bag. “I also bought one for Niki. I
mentioned this to him earlier.”

Jungwon took Niki’s comic book too and placed it carefully on the table.

“Others will be jealous of the gifts.” Jungwon said playfully.

“I guess I will have to buy them gifts too.” Sunoo smiled.

Jake

Despite Jake’s overly positive nature and hopeful wishes, it turned out life wasn’t suddenly
sunshines and rainbows just because they had Sunoo again.

Sure, having Sunoo back was something they all wished and prayed day and night for a century.
There wasn’t a single day that passed without them begging to God for forgiveness, for him to give
them Sunoo back.

It doesn’t matter how long it takes. Please just give him back.

They would pray in tears. The pain would not go away and the nightmares didn’t need sleep to find
them. It was a constant battle between the pathetic hope and inevitable acceptance.

It was also somewhat funny how all 6 of them were stuck in different stages of the grief process.
All of them were a textbook example of different stages yet none of them could manage to fully
move on. Even Heeseung, who always looked like he held himself together the most, seemed to be
stuck between the line of depression and acceptance.

In Jake’s case, he felt like he would forever be stuck in bargaining.

He didn’t stop the bargaining when Sunoo came back.

Instead, his pathetic prayers would turn into something different. This time, it was even more
greedy and sad than the first time.
Please, don’t take him away.

Maybe it was God’s way of making fun of them. He already knew they were eternally cursed and
punished for their wrong doings and he was okay with that. He knew all of their punishments were
justified. But using the only innocent person as a tool for mockery and pain was unmerciful.

Wasn’t God supposed to be the one that is the most merciful and forgiving?

Maybe he wasn’t.

Because if he was, Sunoo would not suffer again as a human. He would not be in constant pain and
he would not have to die once again at such a young age.

Because if he was, God would be understanding. He would know how powerful the feeling and
nature of love really is. He would know how it could make someone do reckless things for it and
how it could make someone burn the world for it.

Jake often thought about burning the world down. It would be a great, comedic passage from the
world to hell. A start of a constant, non ending fire.

But it was before he got Sunoo back. They got Sunoo back.

Right now all he wanted was to protect him as much as he could. In this lifetime, Sunoo would not
experience the same faith he did before. He was going to make sure of that.

“I didn’t know you were religious.”

Jake startled with Sunoo’s voice.

He opened his eyes that he closed tightly and lowered his hands to his lap.
“I’m not religious.” Jake sighed. “But I believe in God.”

“Same for me.” Sunoo sat next to Jake. He seemed worried about the grass staining his pants for a
second but he quickly turned his attention towards him. “I don’t pray much though.”

“Why?” Jake asked even though he could imagine the answer Sunoo was going to give him.

“I don’t think he loves me much.”

Oh. That wasn’t exactly what Jake was expecting.

“Are you not going to say ‘God loves everyone’?” Sunoo laughed lightly.

“No.” Jake shrugged. “He surely doesn’t love everyone.”

“Figured.”

“But I don’t think he hates you.” Jake said. Even though he didn’t fully believe it, he wanted to
believe it. What other reason could he have to send Sunoo back as a human?

“It could be worse I guess.” Sunoo shrugged. He tilted his head lightly and looked at Jake
curiously. “What were you praying for?”

“Time.” Jake said truthfully. He never liked lying to Sunoo anyway.

“Time?” Sunoo looked confused. “You have plenty of it. Don’t you?”

Not for me. For you. And a little bit for me. For us.

“How did you find me here?” Jake asked instead. This part of the garden was kind of hidden and
hard to find. It wasn’t really on the campus map either.
“Jay hyung showed me earlier.” Sunoo replied. “I also always seem to run into one of you guys
somehow. Today was your day, I guess.”

“I’m glad you found me.” Jake smiled. He watched as the younger picked a flower from the grass.
It was a dandelion.

“Do you know the meaning of dandelion?” Sunoo asked quietly. His fingers were lightly brushing
its petals, carefully not to pluck them.

“Not really.”

Sunoo gave the flower to Jake before speaking.

“It has many meanings.” He started. He reached out to pick another one. It was pink . “Most of
them have good meanings. One of them, for example, is happiness. It can also symbolize optimism,
growth and good health .”

Sunoo plucked one of the petals of the flower.

“Dandelions are often seen as weeds rather than flowers. I’m not an expert so I don’t know if they
are technically weeds or not. But I think they have the most beautiful meanings.” Sunoo sighed. “It
can symbolize many things, really. It also changes with who you are giving to. Or which color it
is.”

Jake looked at the white dandelion that was resting in his hand. It was the kind that you could blow
on its seeds and they would fly away. “What does this one mean?”

Sunoo turned to look at Jake with an unreadable expression.

“Healing, grief and recovery.” Sunoo put his own pink dandelion to the grass and turned his face
towards the sky. “Make a wish. And blow it.”
Then

“I don’t know what they did!” Sunoo yelled in frustration. His cries turned into sobs when he
realized he was not the only one crying. “They just started chanting in a language I can’t
understand and suddenly I was unable to move, then I guess I blacked out because when I opened
my eyes again I found myself on the floor and they were gone. I-I don’t feel good.”

“Take off your clothes.” Jay frantically walked towards him.

“What?”

“Take them off!” Jay yelled. His panic was evident. With shaking hands, he reached to unbutton
Sunoo’s shirt himself. When unbuttoning them took too much time for his liking, he ripped the rest
of the shirt. The buttons flew across the room.

“Hyung, what are you doing?” Sunoo asked between his sobs. He tried to stop him but Jay seemed
lost inside his head.

When Jay ripped off the shirt from Sunoo’s shaking body, he froze.

There was a black mark on Sunoo’s chest, right where there was supposed to be his heart. Jay
could see that the mark grew in size with each passing second.

“Turn back.” Jay managed to whisper. His throat felt like it was closing. There was a growing
heaviness on his own chest. He forcefully turned Sunoo so he could take a look at his wings.

It was Jungwon that confirmed the thing he saw.

“His wings are turning black!” Jungwon yelled.

“What is happening? Is he falling?” Niki pushed Heeseung’s arm to get closer to them.

Sunoo was trembling harder with each passing moment. Jay knew if it weren’t for Niki’s arms that
held Sunoo tightly, he would have fallen to the floor. Jay himself was barely holding himself up.

“Wings burn when an angel falls.” Heeseung took a step towards them. “This is something else.”

“What is it then?” Jake dared to ask.

“I DON’T KNOW!” Heeseung yelled in frustration and panic. “I don’t know.”

“I don’t feel good.” Sunoo whispered. His face seemed sickly pale all of the sudden. Niki moved
one of his hands to Sunoo’s face to touch his cheek.

“What hurts? Sunoo?”

“It doesn’t hurt.” Sunoo’s eyelids were heavy. His speech was noticeably slower. “I just don’t feel
good. ”

Jay moved before it even happened. Suddenly, Sunoo’s body went limp. Jay watched as Niki’s eyes
widened with fear. He reached his arm towards Sunoo to do something,do anything but all he
could do was to watch as Niki’s knees unbuckled and he fell to the ground with Sunoo still in his
arms.

“Sunoo hyung?”

Sunoo

Sunoo died before. At least it was the closest thing someone could experience to death.

When Sunoo was 9, he experienced his first near death experience. Cardiac arrest. He didn’t even
remember the whole ordeal but he felt the aftermath of the CPR done by his brother. Fuma was a
pup himself and even though his chest compressions saved Sunoo’s life, he suffered from multiple
broken ribs because he didn’t know how to control his own strength.

The second time Sunoo momentarily died was when he was 15. This time none of his brothers
were around and it was Sunoo’s teacher who did the CPR on him. This time was relatively less
painful since it was done by a human. Sunoo only had one broken rib and several bruised ribs.

The death was something that followed Sunoo closely. It was almost like a shadow. Always close
but never actually touching him. It was mocking him. Teasing him. Reminding him that it was
right there, ready to take him whenever it wanted.

Lately, the death’s teasing seemed to change his usual ways. It wasn’t uncommon for Sunoo to see
death related dreams, but it was new that he started to see himself dying.

Like it was scheduled, Sunoo would have a nightmare every other day. He would see and feel
himself die. He couldn’t manage to remember the details of his dreams. But it was always the
same.

Someone ripping and opening his chest, pulling out his heart. The pain was excruciating.

Sunoo would wake up crying. From both pain and from sadness he wasn’t sure how to explain. It
wasn’t a sadness caused by his own death, but it was a sadness felt for someone else. Whoever his
killer was, it was clear that Sunoo felt sad for them. There was no anger or resentment for his
killer. Only sadness.
That night, Sunoo woke up from his nightmare with wet cheeks and he rested his hand on his chest
to make sure everything was in place. It only took a few minutes before Sunoo collected himself
enough to get up from his bed.

Normally, Sunoo would occupy himself with something until he was sleepy again. He would read
the poem book Jake gave him or he would make himself a cup of tea and scroll through his phone
to pass time.

But that night, Sunoo didn’t really want to be alone. He needed someone. And he knew just the
right place.

The door of the vampires’ room opened before Sunoo was even close enough to knock it.

Sunoo didn’t wait to see who he was hugging before he threw himself to him. Whoever that was,
quick to wrap his arms around Sunoo and secure him in place. Sunoo wrapped his arms tighter and
took a deep breath. Amber.

“Sunoo, what is wrong?” Heeseung asked in panic yet his voice was soft. Like he was scared of
upsetting him.

“Nightmare.” Sunoo replied shortly. He felt Heeseung’s arms relaxing before he forcefully
separated their bodies.

Sunoo was about to panic by the sudden rejection but when Heeseung took his face in his palms he
panic turned into relief. Sunoo could feel the incoming tears before they left his eyes.

Heeseung stared at his eyes for a moment. He seemed to be in some kind of dilemma but Sunoo
didn’t know what it was about.

Heeseung’s furrowed eyebrows were replaced with a woeful expression.

“Come inside.” Heeseung said after what felt like years. He seemed to have made up his mind
about something. He removed his hands from Sunoo’s cheeks and gently grabbed his shoulder to
pull him inside.
The room was empty.

“Where is everyone?” Sunoo asked curiously.

“Some went to play, some to hunt, I think Jungwon is in the library.” Heeseung took Sunoo to the
kitchen area.

“I didn’t bother you, did I?” Sunoo asked.

Heeseung laughed and shook his head lightly.

“You would never bother me.” He turned on the stove and put the kettle on. “I was also a bit bored
before you came.”

“I am glad that I was able to accompany you as much as you could accompany me then.”

“Which blend would you like?” Heeseung placed 5 different jars filled with tea leaves in front of
him.

Sunoo had no idea what they were so he took his time taking a sniff of each jar and trying to decide
on one.

“That has mint on it.” Heeseung said when he noticed Sunoo paused a little bit longer to take in the
smell of a particular blend. “And orange peel.”

Sunoo pushed the jar towards Heeseung. “I love mint.”

“What about mint chocolate?” Heeseung asked. Something in his tone made Sunoo think that
Heeseung already knew the answer.

“I love everything mint.” Sunoo replied. He waited patiently as Heeseung poured the water. He
seemed to know what he was doing so Sunoo watched him in curiosity.

“I need to confess something.” Heeseung said after a while. He placed the kettle back on the stove
and finally turned to look at him. He looked nervous.

“What is it?”

“You already know each one of us has some kind of gift. Don’t you?” Heeseung sat on one of the
chairs. His gaze swayed between Sunoo’s eyes and the table.

“Yes. But I don't know your gift.” Sunoo answered softly. Was Heeseung worried about Sunoo’s
reaction to his power?

“Okay. But first, I need you to know that I didn’t use my power on you.” Heeseung looked at him
like he was begging him to believe him. “I did once, accidently. But it was just for a moment.”

“Hyung, I believe you.” Sunoo reached out to pat his arm. “Why are you so worried?”

“My power is kind of… violation of privacy.”

“Oh.”

“I have telepathy.” Heeseung said it like he was pulling out a bandaid. He averted his gaze from
him.

That explains his worry. Sunoo tilted his head in thought. Why would he think I wouldn’t believe
him?

“Sunoo?” Heeseung asked with the tiniest voice he ever heard from him.

“I’m sorry.” Sunoo apologized. “That’s a super cool gift.”

“You think?” Heeseung seemed relieved. A small smile appeared on his face.

“Yes.” Sunoo nodded. “Can you read minds too? Is this why you were worried?”

“Yes and yes.” Heeseung sighed. “I can read, see, hear or whatever you call them. I don’t read the
minds of people I know to respect their privacy. Also it would be so noisy to listen to everyone all
the time.”

“So you can turn it off?”

“It is not like a button. I just try not to focus on them. They are often like background noise.”
Heeseung started to fill their cups with tea. “Sometimes if someone’s thought is loud, it can slip
and I hear them clearly. It is complicated.”

“Is this why you seek some alone time?”

Heeseung halted for a moment. His gaze met with Sunoo’s. He had that unreadable expression on
his face again.

“Yes.” He said after a while. He placed one of the cups in front of Sunoo.

Sunoo took a small, careful sip from his tea. It was in the perfect temperature. He sighed in
satisfaction. It might be the best tea he ever tasted. When he finally turned to look at Heeseung, he
noticed that the older vampire was already staring at him.

“You can talk to me telepathically whenever you want.” Sunoo took another sip from his tea.

Really?

Sunoo would think Heeseung spoke out loud if he didn’t see his closed shot lips.

Sunoo let out a surprised laugh.

“It is so cool. Do it again, hyung.”

What about mind reading?

It was crazy . Sunoo could hear his laugh, his actual voice and tone inside his head without
actually hearing him.

“I would rather if you didn’t.” Sunoo answered softly. “But you can read them if we are talking
telepathically? Can you do it without reading the other stuff?”

I promise I won’t. Heeseung smiled. You can answer me from your mind and I can hear your
reply. I will only listen when we are talking.

To say that Sunoo was thrilled was an understatement. He wasn’t sure why he was so blown out
about it but he was.

“If I call your name, can you hear it?”

“If you want me to, I can listen to you if you call for me.”

“I do.” Sunoo nodded sharply.

“Are you feeling better?” Heeseung asked after what felt like hours. Even though they made an
agreement on telepathic conversation, they sat in silence to drink their tea. There was something
peaceful and comforting about the silent company they shared with each other.

“Yes.” Sunoo put his cheek on his hand. “So much better.”

“Do you want to talk about it?”

Sunoo wasn’t sure. He felt close enough to Heeseung to share things like this to him but he also
didn’t want to burden him in any way.

“It is not like I don’t want to share with you.” Sunoo explained. “But it is kind of worrisome? I
don’t know.”

“Now I want to know about it because I would love to try to help you if it is something that bothers
you this much.”

Sunoo sighed.

“I keep seeing myself dying.”

“Oh.”

“It is always the same way. Same nightmare basically. The dying part is not that scary.” Sunoo
chuckled softly. “It just hurts a lot? And I feel so sad. Like so so sad, hyung. I don’t know why.”

“How do you die?” Heeseung asked quietly.

“Someone rips my heart out.” Sunoo started to play with his fingers. There was a lump on his
throat. “I don’t know who. I never see their face. But I feel so sorry for them.”

“Sunoo-”

“Why would I feel sad and sorry for my killer?” Sunoo turned to look at Heeseung.

What he didn’t expect to see was to see the vampire… crying.

“Hyung?” Sunoo stood up from his chair to go beside Heeseung. “Why are you crying?”

Heeseung raised his arm to wipe his tears but they just kept coming. Sunoo didn’t know what to do
as the vampire’s quiet tears turned into loud cries.
Sunoo gently cupped his cheeks and wiped his tears with his fingers. It hurt to see the vampire cry.
He felt that his own eyes started to water too.

“Hyung, what is wrong?” Sunoo tried to ask once again. He kept wiping the vampire’s tears. They
seemed like they wouldn’t stop.

Heeseung opened his mouth to say something but the sound of the door opening interrupted the
vampire.

“Hyung?” It was Jay.

He hurriedly came towards them and put his hand to the vampire’s shoulder.

“I don’t know what happened.” Sunoo stammered. “He suddenly started crying.”

Jay looked at him with a worried expression. He used his other hand to wipe Sunoo’s eyes.

“You are crying too.” Jay said softly.

“Maybe I should go.” Sunoo didn’t know what to do. The entire situation was too overwhelming
and confusing all of the sudden.

“No!” Heeseung grabbed Sunoo’s wrist. “I’m sorry.”

“I will walk Sunoo to his room.” Jay told Heeseung. Despite the actual words, the way he spoke
was gentle and careful. He squeezed Heeseung’s shoulder once before turning to Sunoo.

“You need sleep. It is almost 4 AM.” Jay gently pulled his arm.

“But Heeseung hyung-”

“I will take care of him.” Jay assured. Sunoo turned to look at Heeseung.

Heeseung hyung. He called. Is it because of me?

No. Heeseung’s reply was quick. I just remembered something from my past. It wasn’t your fault.

Heeseung’s words didn’t lessen his worry.

Jay pulled him outside the room before Sunoo could even think of a reply.

Once they were outside and the door was locked, Jay removed his hand from Sunoo’s arm and
sighed. When he finally looked at Sunoo he looked ashamed and sorry.

“I’m so sorry, Sunoo.” He sounded genuine. “That was very rude of me but I felt like it would be
the best if I let you out.”

“I can keep my distance from Heeseung hyung. If that is the best.”

Jay looked baffled. “What? Why?”

“Are you not mad at me?” Sunoo asked in confusion. “I thought-”

Jay interrupted him with a worried look on his face. “I’m not mad at you, Sunoo. I don’t know why
you would think that. I was actually worried about you the most, because I heard your heart
beating a little too slow.”

“What?”

“Why would you think that I’m mad at you? Is it because I took you outside?”
“Because I made Heeseung hyung cry. I thought-”

Sunoo was interrupted when Jay pulled him for a hug.

“I don’t understand.” Sunoo’s voice was muffled because of the hug. Jay and his height difference
wasn’t that big but his face was tightly plastered on the vampire’s chest. Sunoo had barely enough
space to speak.

No heartbeat. Sunoo thought. There were no heartbeat sounds coming from the vampire’s chest.
For some reason, he didn’t imagine vampires wouldn’t have a heartbeat. But it made sense. They
were undead dead bodies. Forever frozen in time.

“Heeseung is dealing with something.” Jay said. His arms around Sunoo relaxed a bit before he
removed them completely. “Nothing is your fault, okay?”

Sunoo took a step back. He didn’t dare to look at the vampire’s face but his soft tone was enough
to calm him down.

“Let’s get you to your room.” Jay said softly. His hands grabbed Sunoo’s arm once again.
“Humans need sleep.”

Sunoo

Despite his fears, his group mates handed him their research weeks before their assignment was
due. Sunoo wasn’t sure how they managed to finish their task in such a short time, but he wasn’t
going to dwell on it.

When he was done getting all the research (some in email and some were handwritten in some kind
of brown paper) and the survey papers, Sunoo decided to work on the report in the library. His
room was good to study in but it was also too quiet for his comfort. He knew that the vampires
spent most of their time in the library so he could spend time with them while also getting some
work done.

Sunoo gathered all of his stuff in one of his biggest bags and texted Jungwon to let him know he
was going there. Sunoo could only take a few steps before Niki teleported in front of him.

“You never work in the library.” Niki commented confusedly. He took Sunoo’s bag and threw it on
his shoulder.

“What? You don’t want me there?” Sunoo pouted.

Niki didn’t seem bothered by Sunoo’s teasing. Instead, he seemed amused.

“Maybe I should take you to the library every single day to prove that I want you there.” Niki
commented with a grin.

“Is this a threat?”

“A promise.”
Sunoo laughed. “I don’t think I can survive going there everyday. People can die from boredom, I
heard.”

“We can keep you entertained.” Niki quickly grabbed Sunoo’s hand before he could think of an
answer. “Let’s go.”

“That's too many papers.” Sunghoon commented as Sunoo started to pull out his stuff.

When Niki and Sunoo arrived at the library, the rest of the vampires were already busy with
reading and taking notes. They all smiled and greeted Sunoo and immediately turned their attention
back to whatever they were doing. Everyone except Sunghoon and Niki.

Niki sat Sunoo’s left and Sunghoon changed his seat to sat next to his right.

“Group project.” Sunoo explained to Sunghoon. “My group mates did the research and I have to do
the report.”

Sunghoon curiously reached out for the stack of papers that were given by the fairy.

“Fairy?” He asked. He seemed to recognize the type of paper that fairy used. “They could have at
least used a typewriter.”

“They use magic, I think.” Niki said.

“Like in Harry Potter?” Sunoo asked.

“What is Harry Potter?”

Sunoo gasped.

“He is joking.” Sunghoon said shortly after Niki started laughing.

Sunoo playfully stuck his tongue out to Niki.

“Do you need help with these?” Sunghoon pointed out the papers.

“Thank you for the offer, hyung.” Sunoo smiled at the vampire. “But I should do it myself. I
already feel bad that I didn’t help with the research.”

“You two should start working on your own research.” Jay called out from the other side of the
table. He looked at the two vampires with a slight annoyance on his face. When his eyes met with
Sunoo’s, his gaze softened.

“What are you researching?” Sunoo dared to ask. He was meaning to ask about it for weeks but he
never had the chance.

“Vampires.” Jake answered shortly. He sent a quick glance towards him before turning his
attention to his book.

“We are researching the origins of vampires.” Jay explained. “As you can imagine, there is not
much information about it.”

“How far back you went in terms of time?” Sunoo asked. He leaned towards the table to take a
look at all the books that were opened. “Vampires came before werewolves so you should start
from the period before werewolves.”

Vampires’ heads rose in unison.

“What?”
“What do you mean?” Heeseung closed his own book and leaned towards Sunoo. His eyes were
wide open suddenly.

“Oldest records about werewolves go as far as 2 thousand years.” Sunoo started to explain. “I
didn’t read the original records of course, but my dad told me that vampires were mentioned in
them. He said it said vampires were already there when the first werewolf was created.”

Jay and Heeseung cursed at the same time.

Jungwon disappeared into many walls of the library without a word. Niki too was gone after a
second, following him.

“Did I say something wrong?” Sunoo asked in worry as Jake and Sunghoon started to collect the
books.

“No. The opposite, actually.” Jay stood up. He had a huge grin on his face. “You helped a lot.”

“What else can you tell us about?” Heeseung asked.

“I don’t know much, really.” Sunoo said. “My brothers probably know more than I do.”

Sunoo pulled out his phone. “I can ask them. But I’m not sure if they would be willing to share.”
He sent them an apologetic smile.

“Understandable.” Jay said. “You already helped us more than you can imagine.”

“I brought everything I could find.” Jungwon appeared with a huge stack of books in his arms.
“Niki is looking at the north wing.”

“I told you, we didn’t have to start from the 19th century.” Sunghoon appeared next while
complaining to Jake. He was also holding a stack of books.

Jake was empty handed except a very old looking laptop tucked under his arm.
“How many times do I have to explain? People research about the past. They write about them.
You never know!” Jake looked offended.

Sunoo watched quietly as everyone gathered around the table and they distributed the books
between them. It only took about 10 minutes before everyone was seated again. Sunghoon and
Niki were in their old seats next to Sunoo.

“Let’s work for real this time.” Jungwon said. He looked at them with a serious face. “So Sunoo
can finally work in peace too.”

Sunoo decided it was best if he didn’t say anything.

When everyone turned their attention to their own work, Sunoo opened up his own laptop. He
decided to work on converting the fairy’s papers to digital first. He still had weeks to complete the
report so he wasn’t going to push himself.

He pulled the stack of papers in front of him and reached out to dig his bag to find his pencil case.
But there was something unfamiliar inside it.

Sunoo frowned and pulled his bag close to see what it was.

There was a white paper that was folded several times inside his bag. And it didn’t belong to him.

Not wanting to bring attention to himself, Sunoo quietly picked the paper and pulled it close to his
chest. He carefully unfolded the paper.

You don’t know anything, do you?

A handwritten note. With red ink.

Sunoo frowned. There was something weird about this ominous note. He unfolded it once again.
Do you want to know, S?

Sunoo had barely enough time to put the paper back inside his bag before an excruciating pain
blossomed inside his chest. The pain was so severe that Sunoo momentarily lost his vision and his
breath seemed to be stuck.

Gasping for air and not being able to see anything; Sunoo tried to reach out for someone, anyone he
could reach. He didn’t know who he managed to hold hands with but his voice was
incomprehensible like Sunoo was underwater.

Suddenly, Sunoo was seeing something.

It felt like watching a movie without the audio on. Like changing the TV channels, several scenes
started to play right after each other. One moment he was staring at the morning sky. The second,
the sky turned into an ugly red like it was about to rain blood. Then, it cut into a scene where he
was kneeling inside a church, his arms raised up like he was praying. Rest of the scenes, or visions
went too fast for Sunoo to even comprehend. He saw several faceless people, white and black
feathers flying around, someone’s hand reaching out to caress his cheek and finally he saw the sky
once again. This time, it was gray.

Sunoo heard his name called before he got his vision back.

“Sunoo?”

“Call his doctor!”

“He is waking up, I think.”

Sunoo felt his face being lightly tapped.

“Sunoo, open your eyes baby.”

Baby?
Sunoo frowned confusedly and used the last bit of his strength to open his eyes.

“Thank God.” He heard Jake shout.

Sunghoon lightly tapped Sunoo’s cheeks again to get his attention.

“Sunoo?”

“How long was I out?” Sunoo asked quietly. His throat was dry like he didn’t drink water for days.

“Less than a minute.” Heeseung said. Sunoo only then realized he was lying on his lap.

“Your heartbeat was so slow that we almost thought it stopped completely.” Jungwon said with the
coldest tone Sunoo ever heard from him. Jungwon turned his head the other way when he noticed
Sunoo was staring at him.

Sunoo attempted to stand up but Heeseung pulled him back to his lap.

“Don’t move. Niki will take you to the doctor’s office.”

“No.” Sunoo refused. “I feel good.”

“What?”

“You almost died of pain.” Sunghoon looked at him like he was insane.

“It doesn’t even hurt anymore.” Sunoo was as confused as the others. He touched his chest lightly.
Nothing . He felt fine .
“You should still go for a check.” Jay said firmly. “Niki?”

Niki appeared next to them. He had an apathetic look on his face as he grabbed Sunoo’s arms to
help him stand up.

“We will follow you right after.” Heeseung said. He stood up with ease and turned to others. Sunoo
figured he was talking to them privately .

“Come on.” Niki said quietly. He tied his arm around Sunoo’s waist. “Close your eyes.”

Then

They woke up for the last time that day. Waking up as 6 dead bodies that had lost everything
somehow seemed more cruel than spending an eternity in hell. They hoped for it, actually. They
hoped to be sent right straight into hell.

Being in constant pain would not give them enough clarity to think about what happened, what
they had lost and what they had done. They would not have to think about Sunoo.

Maybe that's why God cursed them as vampires. Being an undead living creature who can not sleep
seemed cruel enough. He knew they wouldn’t live a single day without remembering. And
yearning. God surely was the creator of torture.

“No! No! Tell me you didn’t? Sunoo? Sunoo!”

“It is already done.”

“Who? Who did it?”

Nothing was the same after. How could it be any similar to the past when they had lost everything
.

Sunoo was their everything after all.

Was.

Sunoo would forever be their everything.

That was the problem.

Sunoo being their everything, them not wanting to get over him.

“Hello, my love.”

Sunghoon kneelend on the freshly trimmed grass. His fingers gently removed the dirt from the
tombstone. Sunoo’s tombstone was empty except for the tiny engraving of a sun on it. It felt wrong
to put his name or the death year on it somehow. But they still needed something physical to visit
and grieve.

Sunoo didn’t have anything left to bury. Only thing that was left of him was a few feathers fallen
from his wings. Everything else was burnt entirely when the ritual was completed. There weren’t
even any ashes left.

Sunghoon placed the bouquet of Myosotis in front of the tombstone.

“I know I promised to bring the others, but I don't think they are ready yet.” Sunghoon sat next to
the tombstone. He lightly leaned on the side of it. It felt like they were sitting next to each other. “I
will try again tomorrow. I promise.”
“It is stupid.” Niki says. Still, there is no fire in his voice. “He is not even there. It is empty.”

“It is not stupid for us.”

“You need to drink.”

“Or what? I die?”

“No. But it will hurt.”

“Leave me alone, please.”

“I’m here.” Jungwon announces. “I heard Heeseung and Jay hyung visited before I did.”

Jungwon pushes a dirty handkerchief from Sunoo’s side with his foot. “Humans never clean up
after themselves.” He frowns.

He stays still for a few moments. His eyes wander around.

“You wouldn’t mind if I read here, right hyung?” Jungwon forces a smile. He shakes his book in
front of the tombstone. Like showing it to Sunoo. He feels stupid.

Unlike others, Jungwon lies on his stomach right in front of the tombstone.
“Should I read it out loud?” Jungwon asks. The memory of Sunoo whining about Jungwon ruining
the story with his funny voices flashes before his eyes. Jungwon smiles, this time he cries without
being able to hold himself. “I will read it out loud.” He decides.

Jungwon starts reading.

“Sorry it took me too long.” Niki stands like he was waiting to be scolded. “At least I’m not the
last one.”

His eyes briefly wanders around the tombstone.

“You have weeds growing on you.” Niki says after. He kneels and begins to pluck the weeds.
“Don’t worry. I will leave the dandelions.”

“How long will you be acting like this?”

“Like what?”

“You can’t ignore them forever. They need you. We all need each other.”

“Watch me.”

“Niki-”

“I can’t bear looking at them. I just can’t do it.”

“Where do you think he went?”

“What do you mean?”

“Heaven or hell. Where do you think he went?”

“I don’t know.”

“Purgatory?”

“Only humans go there.”

“Maybe he just stopped existing. His soul, I mean.”

“Stop.”

“Hello love, look who I brought here.” Sunghoon says. He tightens his grip on Jake’s hand. “Only
took me 30 years to manage.”

Sunghoon feels the shame radiating from Jake.

“You are not upset with Jake, are you?” Sunghoon pulls Jake closer to the tombstone. “You know
he would come here earlier if he could.”

Jake’s pain burns his throat.

“I can’t do it.” Jake whispers. Guilt replaces the pain. “I don’t deserve to be here.”

“It is not fair, hyung.” Jungwon says. Even though he promised himself to not cry, he cries the
second he sees his tombstone. “I now lived longer than you had lived.”

“It is hard.” Heeseung confesses. “I used to think there was nothing that time couldn’t ease but I
was wrong. Big time.”

Heeseung replaces the dried out flowers with a fresh bouquet.

“It doesn’t ease anything. Or fix anything.” Heeseung sighs. “You need to do it yourself. Someone
needs to take the first step.”

Heeseung stops momentarily to wipe the tombstone with the sleeve of his shirt.

“It feels like we are stuck.” He continues. “It is like going two steps forward then two steps back
again. Especially Jake and Niki.”

A crow lands on Sunoo’s tombstone.

“They fought last night. It was the longest they had spoken to each other in ages. Hell, it might be
the first time they have looked at each other. It wasn’t pretty but it is better than ignoring each
other, right?” He chuckles. “I think they can start to move on from there. Their first step towards
each other. Better late than never.”

Hugging Jake felt like finally leaving an unfamiliar place to get back home.
“Don’t say anything.” Niki warned. He could feel that Jake was frozen in shock. “You can hug
back.”

“99 years.” Jay says. Clock shows exactly 11:10 PM as he stands in front of the empty grave. “You
could say it was only 99 days and I would believe you.”

Jay doesn’t sit on the grass. He waits for a few moments before he continues.

“We will wait for you.” Jay says. “As long as it takes.”

The rain comes suddenly. The cemetery lights up momentarily before it falls into a darkness again.
Thunder follows a second after.

Jay decides to sit next to the tombstone.

“I guess I can stay here for a little.” He sighs. “Just until the storm stops.”

“I’m Sunoo.” Sunoo smiled.

Hehe. Didn't I say "I will see you very,very soon." ?

Well here I am.

This was more like a special chapter. I think. I really wanted to share short sections
from a very specific period from their past. Finally I completed it. I really don't want to
give away too much because there is still so much to discover about with time. It is not
ending just yet.

Hope you enjoyed it.

Thank you once again for all the love and comments.

Sunoo

After the incident in the library, a quick check up with his doctor was enough to scare him for a
lifetime. Even though Sunoo felt fine, his heart was not really fine.

Doctor seemed extremely worried and stressed over Sunoo’s condition. He kept repeating the same
test over and over again like he couldn’t believe the result. Test after test, the doctor’s face dropped
a little bit more. When he was finally done with the last one, Sunoo was ready to hear the worst.

“You need to be very, very careful Sunoo.” His doctor said firmly. His gaze swayed between the
machine and Sunoo’s eyes. “I will give you a new medicine. Make sure to take it on time.”

Sunoo knew what was implied behind the unsaid words and the worried looks. But Heeseung, who
was standing next to Sunoo, had the privilege to actually hear them.

Heeseung seemed crushed by whatever he read from the doctor’s mind.

Before they left the doctor’s office, Sunoo stopped the vampire to ask him for a favor.

“Whatever you heard, can you keep it a secret?” Sunoo whispered even though everyone in the
room could hear him anyway. But his main concern was being heard by the vampires that waited
outside the room.

Heeseung stared at him and nodded lightly.

“What about you?” Heeseung asked right after. His worry was still apparent in his voice. “Do you
not want to know?”
“I think I know already.” Sunoo said. He forced a smile to try to ease the vampire but it looked like
it had the opposite effect.

Heeseung briefly closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

“They will figure it out eventually.” Heeseung warned. “Even if I don’t tell them.”

“I guess you are right.” Sunoo shrugged. If his condition was even worse than before now, it
would be very easy to notice from the outside. “I just don’t want to upset more people.”

And there it was again, the expression that Sunoo couldn’t figure out. Heeseung was not afraid to
show his feelings unlike some of the other vampires, but sometimes he would have that unreadable
expression on his face. It wasn’t apathetic in any way. It was more like a mix of different emotions
that were too wrapped with each other for Sunoo to figure out.

But it still made Sunoo’s heart ache.

Vampires

None of them wanted to leave Sunoo alone after what happened. But Sunoo seemed very tired and
there was no way they could ask to stay in his room as he slept.

So they dropped Sunoo to his room and slowly walked back to their room. None of them made a
sound until they were inside and their door was locked shut.

“Where is Jake and Niki?” Heeseung asked, even though he knew the answer.

“Where do you think?” Jungwon said bitterly. He seemed upset about his own tone so he added
with a softer voice right after. “Not together that’s for sure though.”
“What did the doctor say?” It was Jay that had the courage to ask. He always seemed to be the one
that took those hard steps.

“It’s not good.” Heeseung’s mask broke immediately. “He thinks at this rate, he doesn’t have much
time.”

The sound of something breaking followed a second later.

Sunghoon cursed. “Fuck!” He was holding the pieces of a broken chair in his hands. “Fuck!”

“Hyung, sit down.” Jungwon went to Sunghoon. “I will clean this up.”

“Is he in pain?” Jay asked. “He tends to lie when he is in pain so I was doubtful when he said he
was fine.”

“I don’t think he was lying.” Heeseung wiped his eyes.

“I felt something .” Jungwon said quietly. He was already done cleaning out the broken chair
pieces. “Something supernatural happened.”

“What do you mean?” Jay walked to Jungwon.

“I don’t know how to explain. But there was a presence of something.” Jungwon closed his eyes
briefly. “Not someone. But something .”

“Like magic?” Sunghoon finally turned his attention from the window to them. His eyes were
bright red.

“I guess.” Jungwon shrugged. He seemed confused.

“Fucking fairies!” Sunghoon walked angrily towards them. “What if they did something to
Sunoo?”

“Why would they?” Heeseung dared to ask.

“I don’t know!” Sunghoon made a nose that was too close to growling. “Who else does magic?”

“Literally everyone in this university. Except the werewolves maybe.” Jay put a hand on
Sunghoon’s shoulder and squeezed it. “Let’s go for a walk, Sunghoon.”

“I don’t want to walk.” Sunghoon whined but he was already following Jay.

Jay grabbed his hand and turned to look at Heeseung.

I will leave Jake and Niki to you.

Heeseung nodded.

When Jay and Sunghoon left, Heeseung reached to hug Jungwon. The younger vampire
immediately wrapped his hands around his waist and Heeseung gave him a quick kiss on his
forehead.

“It is not fair, hyung.” Jungwon whispered. “We just got him back.”

Nothing was fair.

“I can’t do this again.”

Heeseung froze.

“Jungwon-”
“I mean it. I can’t and won’t do it again.” Jungwon said firmly. He loosened his arms and took a
step back. “You know none of us can do it again.”

“There is nothing we can do.”

“We can find a way.” Jungwon raised his voice. “We found a way back then.”

“And look what it cost us.” Heeseung said coldly.

“So you would rather Sunoo hyung-” Jungwon stopped like he was choking on his words.
Heeseung could see that he was about to cry. “You don’t mean it.” Jungwon said after, barely
managing to whisper.

Heeseung hugged him again, this time tighter.

“I would do it all over again. Without a doubt.” Heeseung said. “I’m just scared of what might
happen if we intervene again.”

“We should still try.”

“Let’s talk about it together , okay?” Heeseung asked. “We still need to talk to Niki and Jake.”

Jungwon sighed.

“I will talk to Niki.” He said. Removing himself from Heeseung’s arms. “I know where he is.”
Sunoo

Sunoo knew he was supposed to rest, but it was another nightmare filled night and he needed some
breather.

He quickly wore the fluffy jacket Sunghoon gifted him and left his room in hurry. He didn’t think
he would run into any of the vampires but he didn’t want to risk it. He was already feeling guilty
about burdening them with his problems. He knew, logically, the vampires wouldn’t spend time
with him if they didn’t want to but he also knew that they were too kind hearted to ignore someone
who needed company. He just wanted them to have a peaceful night without Sunoo’s problems.

That was why Sunoo decided to go to the garden. It was around 3 AM and there was nowhere else
he could go inside the campus.

He easily opened the gate and very quietly closed it again. He was going to the secret part of the
garden. Since he discovered it, that place quickly became his favorite spot. That place was
strangely very…comforting.

Sunoo saw the vampire before he saw him.

“I swear I’m not a stalker.” Sunoo called jokingly. He giggled when Jake startled and turned
towards him in shock.

“Sunoo?” He asked. “Why are you here?”

“Couldn’t sleep.” Sunoo replied shortly. He sat next to Jake on the grass.

“I didn’t know you would be here.” Sunoo said to explain himself. He didn’t want him to think that
he intended to interrupt his alone time.

“I’m happy you are here.” Jake said. “It was getting too lonely.”
“How long have you been here?” Sunoo wondered.

“Not long, actually.” Jake said. “Maybe an hour.”

Sunoo nodded.

Jake wrapped his arms around himself. He looked so tiny in Sunoo’s eyes.

“Long day, huh?” Sunoo said in an attempt to start a conversation.

“You can’t even imagine.” Jake laughed tastelessly. “Everyday is a long day when you can’t
sleep.”

Jake seemed to be lost in thought. There was clearly something going on with the vampire and even
though Sunoo wanted to learn and help him, he didn’t think he had the right.

Sure, he grew very close to the vampires but there was an invisible wall between him and the
“almost” coven.

Sunoo pulled his legs to wrap his arms around and rest his chin. He decided to enjoy the quiet
company Jake was offering him. He had some things to think about too. There were so many things
going on with his life and he didn’t have enough time to think about them properly.

He wasn’t sure if thinking about them would change anything, but he knew he needed to face them
at one point. Because reality, no matter how far you run away from them, always finds a way to
catch up to you.

“Sunoo.” Jake called after minutes of silence.

Sunoo quickly turned his head towards the vampire.

“Yes?”
Jake looked at him like he was ready to confess something.

Sunoo waited patiently for him to start to talk, but Jake shook his head like he changed his mind.

“Hypothetically speaking,” Jake started, averting his gaze from Sunoo’s. “Someone you loved had
to do something that hurt you, to save you from something else.”

Sunoo nodded to show him that he was listening.

“But what they did to you was also very, very bad. ”

“Is what they did to me better than what would happen to me if they didn't?” Sunoo asked.

Jake looked dumbfounded. “Yes.” he replied. That was the inevitable truth.

“Did they have any other choice?”

“Not really.”

“So what is your question?” Sunoo asked. He was confused.

“Would you…” Jake seemed to struggle. “Forgive them for what they did?”

Sunoo didn’t have to think at all before answering.

“Yes.”

“Just like that?” Jake stared at him with wide eyes.

“If they did it to save me from something worse and they had no other choice, I would forgive
them.” Sunoo confirmed.

“But. What if what they did was terrible.” Jake’s voice trembled. “Something unforgivable.”

“You said it was someone I loved, right?” Sunoo asked.

Jake nodded.

“Do they love me too?”

“Yes.” Jake said firmly. “A lot.”

“Not to be cheesy,” Sunoo said, smiling shyly. “I think there is nothing love can’t forgive.”

Jake started sobbing.

Panicking, Sunoo reached out to wipe the vampire’s tears. It seemed to become his automatic
response whenever the vampires cried. It was more like an instinct. He didn't even need to think
about the action.

Jake was startled by the sudden touch but he closed his eyes like he appreciated it.

“Did something happen with you and the others? Is this why you are asking me about this?” Sunoo
reached to hold his hand. He was very worried about Jake. “I’m sure they would forgive you,
hyung.”

Jake laughed between his sobs. Tears didn’t seem to stop. “No. It is actually about my friend. He
did something bad.”

“Oh.” Sunoo reached to wipe Jake’s face once again. “I know your friend’s lover might not be as
easy to forgive him like I do, but I think with time he will.”

Jake put his own hand over Sunoo’s hand on his cheek. He looked at him with an expression mixed
with relief and guilt.

“Thank you.” He whispered. Somehow, his words seemed to carry more meaning than Sunoo
could comprehend.

Sunoo smiled.

“You’ve always been so forgiving.” Jake whispered so quietly that Sunoo figured he didn’t mean it
to be heard.

Still, Sunoo heard it.

Chapter End Notes

I don't know what to say. I'm about to cry (again) as I type this note.

Okay. First of all, we are at 500 kudos? I can't believe it, at all. Thank you for the
love. I'm speechless, really.

Second, I can't stress this enough, comments are the biggest gift a writer could receive.
When I say I literally wait with my mail app open waiting for comments excitedly
every time I post a chapter, I mean it. Sometimes I go to sleep late and wake up early
so I can check for the comments. I really, really appreciate them a lot.

I also wanted to thank for all of the beautiful comments on the last chapter
specifically. I cried a lot, you have no idea how happy they made me. Thank you all
again. And thank you all for all the comments you left before.

Even if you didn't leave a comment, I still appreciate you.

I'm a very emotional person I'm not gonna lie.

This chapter took longer than intended to finish. I had to change something and
remove a part so I can put it on a future chapter. But you may or may not get another
chapter today. So don't forget to check it again. He he.

Much love, Duckz.

Sunoo

Sunoo didn’t say anything about the ominous note he received in the library to the vampires. He
didn’t intend to hide it from them, he really didn’t. But he couldn’t find the correct timing. And as
the days passed by and he didn’t receive any other notes, he decided it was pointless to even
mention.

The vampires seemed stressed already and he didn’t want to give them one more thing to think
about. So he left the note he received before in his drawer and tried to forget about it.

It wasn’t as easy as Sunoo imagined.

It turned out the note didn’t only trigger the visions he saw that day. It seemed like it only opened a
door for many for visions to come.

Sunoo’s dreams started to become… interesting. They were still very short and vague to infer from.
Lots of sky, faceless people and darkness. Oh right, it was dark.

The darkness vision was hard to explain. It felt like he was trapped in a dark room with his eyes
and body tied, his ears blocked so he could not hear a thing. It might have been the scariest thing
Sunoo had to experience so far. Not being able to move, hear or see anything.

The nothingness experience might be thought of as the same every time, but Sunoo could tell it was
different each time. The feelings he felt were different. There was fear, anger, despair and
acceptance. They all felt like they were different stages that followed each other.

Sunoo wasn’t sure what to do with the things he saw. And the ones he couldn’t see.
Maybe, deep down he knew they meant something. Something important. Something that he
needed to remember.

Sunoo was never an overthinker, but waking up from nightmares and being left with confusing
visions didn’t leave him any choice but to think about them. Losing sleep and having nothing else
to do gave him plenty of time to try and connect to puzzle pieces.

Trying to connect things was not as easy as he thought. There weren’t many things for him to work
on anyway. Bunch of sky gazing and faceless people who he couldn’t even hear didn’t give him
anything to work on. He tried to remember anything that would help distinguish the faceless
people. Only thing he could see was that some of them had dark hair when some had light hair.
That was all.

“From earth to Sunoo, earth to Sunoo.” Sunghoon called out playfully. He was waving his hand in
front of his face.

“There he is.” He said when Sunoo finally looked at him.

“Are you daydreaming?” Jungwon asked. He pulled his chair closer to Sunoo’s.

“I guess.” Sunoo mumbled. He must have been daydreaming since he didn’t notice the vampires
joining him in the library. He raised his arm to check the time.

It had been a little over thirty minutes since he came to the library. He wondered when the
vampires arrived.

“Feeling okay?” Heeseung reached to touch Sunoo’s forehead. He frowned.

“Yes, I’m fine.” Sunoo briefly closed his eyes to get himself together. He needed to focus.

“Are you still having trouble sleeping?” This time it was Jake who worriedly asked. He was sitting
at the end of the table. He stood up when Sunoo turned to look at him.

“A little.” Sunoo figured there was no point in lying. He was aware of his own gloomy mood and
he really didn’t want to affect their moods but he didn’t have any energy to fake a smile. Sunoo still
felt sorry.

Jake appeared next to him. He removed the hoodie he was wearing and touched Sunoo’s shoulders.
“Raise your arms.”

“What?” Sunoo was confused but he still raised his arms.

Jake dressed him easily.

“Better.” Jake said after fixing the hood. He squeezed Sunoo’s shoulder once more and turned to
walk back to his spot.

With burning cheeks, Sunoo averted his gaze and buried his nose in the hoodie. It smelt like
honeysuckle.

Sunoo didn’t know why, but the feeling of the hoodie and the smell of it was very comforting for
him.

Sunoo shyly glanced at Jake. He was already staring at him with a small smile.

“Finally.” He heard Jay whisper under his breath.

Someone cleaned his throat.

“How is your report going?” Sunghoon asked.

“I’m still trying to finish the fairy paper, actually.” Sunoo sighed. The fairy’s research was
fantastic. She seemed to be very knowledgeable herself and it was clear that there was lots of care
put on it. The only downside was that it was all handwritten on paper and there were too many
pages to transfer to the computer. Sunoo wasn’t even halfway done.

“How is your research going?” Sunoo asked back.

“We didn’t have time to work on that.” Jungwon said. His eyes briefly averted to Heeseung. “We
don’t have a deadline on that one though.”

Sunoo couldn’t stop a yawn escaping from his lips.

“Coffee?” Niki asked. He stood up from his chair.

“You don’t need to-” Sunoo tried to decline but Niki was already gone.

“Nonsense.” Jungwon said. “Let us do things for you.”

Niki came back with a paper cup and a bottle of water just then.

“Thank you, Niki.” Sunoo smiled at the vampire.

Niki gave him a small nod and went back to his seat.

When everyone slowly turned their attention back to their work, Sunoo faint heartedly reached for
his bag.

Ever since he found the note in his bag, he developed some kind of fear. It had been 5 days since
he received that ominous message and even though he didn’t receive any other, he was scared to
open his bag and find a new one.

Sunoo wasn’t sure if it was because he was sitting in the same chair as he did 5 days prior, but he
felt like same thing would happen again.
Sunoo slowly unzipped his bag and took a peek inside.

Fear caught him before he could even make a noise.

Sunghoon must have noticed the sudden change in his emotions that he lifted his head from his
book and looked at him worriedly.

“What is wrong?” He asked.

“Fuck.” Sunoo couldn’t hold it. He could feel all the attention was on him now.

“Sunoo?” Jay called.

“I knew I was right!” Jungwon yelled. He stood up and turned to look at Heeseung.

“What is going on?” Niki’s gaze swayed between Sunoo and Jungwon.

“Remember the incident from earlier?” Sunoo started. He really didn’t want to talk about it but he
was not going to touch another ominous note.

“Unfortunately.” Jungwon nodded.

“Okay,” Sunoo took a deep breath. He turned his bag upside down to empty the contents of his
bags. “I received a note that day. It had some ominous messages in it. Then I started seeing this.
You know the rest.”

“What?”

“Why didn’t you say anything?”

“What did it say?”

“What did you see?”

They shouted at once. Sunoo averted his gaze and pointed out the new note with the tip of his
pencil.

“I just got a new one.” He whispered. “I don’t want to touch it.”

Jay made a move to grab the note but Sunoo pushed his hand.

“Don’t touch!” Sunoo yelled. “What if it hurts you?”

“It won’t.” Jungwon said. He reached out to take the note so fast that Sunoo didn’t have time to
stop it.

Jungwon carefully unfolded the paper and his eyebrows frowned a second later.

“What does it say?” Sunoo dared to ask.

“It is a sigil.” Jungwon said coldly. He made eye contact with Heeseung.

“For what?”

There was silence for a whole minute. Sunoo wasn’t sure how it worked, but it seemed like they
had a silent conversation between the six.

“Where is the note you received before?” Niki asked. He was avoiding eye contact. Sunoo could
clearly see the anger radiating from him.

“In my drawer but-”

Niki was gone.

“What is going on?” Sunoo tried to ask but vampires seemed to be lost in thought. All of them
carried a different level of fear and anger in their faces.

It was Jake who first reached out to him.

“Someone is messing with you.” Jake said. “Probably fairies. They like messing with human’s
heads.”

It seemed like there was more to it.

“Why me?” Sunoo asked instead. He wanted to believe the words of the vampire.

“Fairies don't need a reason. They do things because they can.” Jake sighed. “They are messed up
creatures.”

“Just don’t touch any note you receive from now on.” Jay warned. “We will handle the rest.”

“How-”

Niki came back. He looked furious. His whole body was shaking. He avoided looking at Sunoo
and walked straight to Heeseung and Jungwon.

“I will kill them.” Sunoo heard Niki say. “Do they think this is just a joke?”

“Niki, quiet.” Heeseung warned.

Sunoo was lost.

“Niki,” Jay called out. He put a hand on Sunoo’s shoulder. “Why don’t you take Sunoo to the
town?”

“Huh?”

Niki sent an annoyed stare to Jay but his gaze softened when he turned to look at Sunoo.

Sunoo watched as he closed eyes and took a deep breath. He looked like he was trying to calm
himself.

“Good idea.” He said a moment later. Looking a little bit more relaxed than before. “It’s friday,
anyway.”

Sunoo looked at him curiously.

“On fridays, I dance.” Niki grinned.

Then

“You know why I’m here.” The angel says, and takes a careful step towards Sunoo.

Sunoo stands still like a statue. He looks like he is lost inside his mind, locked inside his body.

Oh, how easy this is going to be. Angel thinks. But the angel can’t help but feel sorry about the
whole situation. Sunoo was innocent after all. There is no deserving of this. Seeing him accepting
his fate without a fight aches the angel’s heart.

“Be quick.” Sunoo whispers. “Take me.” He begs.

Now

Vampires heard Niki’s scream before they saw him.

“It stopped! It stopped!” Niki stammered, delirious. “ Help me. ”

In his arms, there was the unconscious body of Sunoo.

Sunoo

When Sunoo woke up, nothing felt wrong.

He knew, logically, that something must have gone wrong if he woke up in the doctor’s office
without having any prior memory of what happened.

But he felt fine. Whenever he said the word fine, he knew everyone was assuming he was lying.
For him, not having any pain would count as fine but he guessed everyone had different meanings
when it comes to defining “fine”.

Sunoo enjoyed the quiet for a few moments before trying to stand up.

“Good morning.” Jay called. He was sitting on the ledge of the window. “How are you feeling?”

“Fine.” Sunoo mumbled. “What happened?”

Jay stared at him for a long minute before sighing slowly. Even though his apathetic mask was on,
a slight relief seemed to wash over the vampire. Jay walked towards him slowly.

“You passed out when you were in town with Niki.” Jay said monotonically. “Doctor said there is
nothing new to worry about.”

“Huh.” Sunoo nodded. It made sense, somehow. He could faintly recall getting street food with
Niki.

“I don’t remember it, to be honest.” Sunoo said. “I hope I didn’t trouble you much.”
Jay’s mask crumbled.

He looked…frustrated.

“Stop doing this.” He said, voice low but firm. “We care about you. You are important to us . There
is no bother or trouble or inconvenience when it comes to you .”

Jay chuckled softly when he saw the look on Sunoo’s face.

“Why are you surprised?” He asked.

“I don’t know.” Sunoo confessed.

Jay reached to hold Sunoo’s arm.

“The doctor said that we could leave when you wake up.” He helped Sunoo get up. “He asked me
to tell you to take it easy. ”

Sunoo didn’t remove his hand from Jay’s and Jay didn’t seem to mind.

“What time is it?” Sunoo asked. Sunoo was glad Jay wasn’t making a fuss about him fainting. If
there was something he hated the most in this world, it would be being treated like he was made of
glass.

“Around 5.” Jay showed him the way. His grip in Sunoo’s hand tightened. “What do you want to
eat? I will cook for you.”

“Do you have any ingredients?”

“Niki can buy it.”

“Is he okay? He must have been scared.” Sunoo asked worriedly. He could imagine it would be
scary for him to see Sunoo pass out.

“Yes.” Jay answered way too quickly. “What about waffles?”

“Skipping class?” Sunghoon handed him a paper cup before sitting next to him in the gazebo.

Sunoo stared at the piping hot paper cup with confusion. It was obvious that it wasn’t from the
campus coffee shop.

“Where did you buy this?” He asked before lifting the cup to take a sniff. It smelt like chocolate.

“Niki bought it from the town.” Sunghoon took a sip from his own drink. Sunoo had a suspicion
that it was not coffee that Sunghoon was drinking. “He wanted me to give it to you.”

“Why?”

“He said you wanted to try the seasonal drinks from there. So he bought it for you.”

“No, I meant to ask why he didn’t give it himself?”

“Oh.” Sunghoon halted. His smile disappeared slowly. “I’m not sure.”

“Is he okay?” Sunoo couldn’t help but ask. Since he fainted on Niki, the vampire started to avoid
him. He wasn’t running away, but it seemed like he tried to keep a distance. He was always there,
just not close.

Sunoo thought since Sunghoon had emotion related powers, he probably had at least an idea about
his mood.
Sunghoon took two long sips from his drink. He looked like he was trying to buy time.

“He is…okay.” Sunghoon grimaced.

“You are really bad at lying.” Sunoo said, chuckling.

Sunghoon looked embarrassed but he still gave him an awkward smile.

“He will be okay.” He assured Sunoo. He put down his own drink to the floor and slid closer to
Sunoo. “Why did you skip the class? Are you not feeling okay?”

It was kind of endearing how easy it was to read Sunghoon. Everything he felt or thought, seemed
to reflect on his face.

Sunghoon’s worry reflected in his voice as well as it did to his face.

“I’m fine.” Sunoo assured. “I skipped the class because I was bored.”

“Ah.” Sunghoon shook his head in approval. “Was it math again?” He grinned.

“Worse.” Sunoo sighed. “Law.”

“Why do you need law for?”

“I don’t know. I stopped asking questions when it comes to my major.” Sunoo finally took a sip
from his drink.

It was peppermint hot chocolate.

Sunoo made an excited noise before taking another sip.

“Niki will be delighted when he learns you loved the drink.” Sunghoon commented. “Be prepared
to drink it everyday now.”

“Don’t threaten me with a good time.” Sunoo giggled. “This is so good.”

Sunghoon leaned towards him to smell Sunoo’s drink.

“Do you want to try it, hyung?” Sunoo offered the drink.

“Can I?” Sunghoon asked shyly.

“Yes, go ahead.” Sunoo helped Sunghoon take a sip from his drink.

Sunghoon grimaced and coughed like it burnt his throat.

“Too minty.” He complained. He reached out to his own drink, probably to mask the displeasing
taste.

“That is kind of the point.” Sunoo laughed.

“I never understood your obsession with mint.” Sunghoon chugged the rest of his drink. “I feel so
much better now.”

“It is blood, isn’t it?” Sunoo asked curiously.

“Yes.” Sunghoon confirmed quickly.

“Human?”
“Yes.”

“What type?”

Sunghoon laughed.

“Type doesn’t really matter.” He said. “Doesn’t affect the taste at all.”

“Huh.” Sunoo tilted his head. “I didn’t expect that.”

“Yeah, drinking blood is not a grand experience.” Sunghoon frowned. “Doesn’t even taste good."

Sunoo frowned in empathy. “That must suck. Sorry.”

Sunghoon suddenly reached out to pat Sunoo’s head.

“What?” Sunoo was dumbfounded. Did he just.. Pet me?

“You are just so cute.” Sunghoon said, smiling.

“I know.” Sunoo teased back. “You are the first one to pet me though.”

“I’m sure it wasn’t the first time.” Sunghoon looked at him with an expression Sunoo couldn’t
figure out. It didn’t seem negative but there was something sad about it.

Sunghoon’s smile trembled but it didn’t disappear.

“I’m glad I met you-” Sunghoon said after a while. He seemed like he had more things to say but
Sunoo figured he chose not to speak when Sunghoon shyly averted his gaze.
“I’m really happy that I got to meet you all too.” Sunoo said quietly. He meant it wholeheartedly
and he hoped Sunghoon could feel his sincerity. “I like you guys a lot.”

He always liked making new friends but there was something different about his relationship with
the vampires. Something he never felt for any of his friends before.

There was an odd, nostalgic familiarity he felt with the vampires. He felt like belonged . Like he
was supposed to be with them .

“Don’t go all sappy on me now.” Sunghoon tried to joke but he was betrayed by his own voice and
expression once again. He looked both happy and worried.

Sunoo halted, lost in thought. How endearing Sunghoon was. For a “monster” that had lived
centuries, there was a certain innocence about him.

Sunoo smiled without being able to stop himself.

“What?” Sunghoon asked curiously when he realized Sunoo was smiling. A mirroring smile
appeared on his lips. “What happened suddenly?”

“Nothing.” Sunoo answered. He figured Sunghoon reading his emotions was enough as an answer
for now.

Suddenly, he felt very sleepy.

A yawn escaped his mouth. Sunoo closed his eyes briefly.

“Sleepy?” Sunghoon asked softly.

“The new medicine I’m on makes me extra sleepy.” Sunoo confessed. He didn’t like to talk about
medical stuff with the vampires but he didn’t want Sunghoon to think he was bored.
Sunghoon chuckled and kneeled in front of him.

“Climb on my back.” He said, patting his own shoulder.

“I can walk.” Sunoo refused. Even though being carried sounded perfect right now, he was
suddenly feeling extremely shy about it.

“Come on.” Sunghoon insisted. “You look like you will fall asleep any second.”

Sunoo realized there was no point in fighting with Sunghoon on this. He got on Sunghoon’s back
and wrapped his arms loosely around his neck. When Sunoo finally placed his chin on his
shoulder, Sunghoon slowly stood up.

“Don’t fight the sleep.” Sunghoon said.

Sunoo’s eyes closed slowly. Less than a second later, he had fallen asleep.

Then

“You should’ve let the angel take me.” Sunoo whispered. He was fighting so hard to keep himself
conscious.

Jay didn’t answer. Instead, he quietly continued bathing him. The bar of soap almost slipped
between his shaky fingers.

“The water ran cold.” Jay mumbled after a moment. Sunoo not even mentioning the temperature
meant he was more gone than he thought.
“I will go ask someone to boil more water.” Jay said before getting up.

That seemed to get Sunoo’s attention.

“Don’t leave.” Sunoo grabbed his wrist. He wasn’t looking at him but he sounded desperate.
“Hyung, please don’t leave me alone.”

Jay sat back to the floor.

“You will get cold.” Jay whispered.

“I don’t even feel it.” Sunoo intertwined their fingers. “It doesn’t even matter, anyway.”

“It does.” Jay tried so hard to not get angry. “It matters to me.”

Sunoo didn’t answer. His eyes seemed to get even more cloudy. His darkened wings loosened
while his body turned firm. Still, his hand on Jay’s never seemed to loosen.

He was gone.

“Jungwon!” Jay shouted, not daring to leave the bathroom. “Boil water!”

Jungwon didn’t answer, but Jay could hear the outside door opening and closing. He must have left
the house to get more wood to feed the fire.

“You are never alone.” Jay said, a little bit louder than his normal voice. He pushed back the hairs
that fell into Sunoo’s forehead. He hoped that if he talked louder, Sunoo would be able to hear him.
“Even when you feel like you are all alone, we are always here.”

The black mark on Sunoo’s chest grew a bit more like it was mocking him.

Vampires

It turned out Sunoo not remembering dying momentarily wasn’t as good news as they hoped.

It was a mystery enough itself that Sunoo came back to life without any intervention. When Niki
came back with Sunoo practically dead in his arms, it seemed like they were too late to do
anything. But then, a moment later Sunoo’s heart was beating again and he was woken up briefly
with a gasp before losing consciousness again.

Heeseung was not able to hear or see anything on Sunoo’s mind and the only thing Sunghoon
could figure out was that Sunoo was scared .

Niki then took him to the doctor’s office without saying a word.

Thankfully, this time there was no damage done to Sunoo’s heart but it wasn’t enough to calm any
of them. Niki, who had to experience Sunoo momentarily dying in his arms, seemed to take it the
hardest.

He was already struggling with the fact that Sunoo didn’t have much time left and experiencing
something traumatic as this affected him a little bit more than any of them. Surprisingly, it was
Jake that approached him to talk about it.

None of them knew what they talked about, but it seemed to ease Niki enough.

Even though the crisis was evaded temporarily, none of them really had the strength to face Sunoo
after this incident.

Except Jay.
This wasn’t because Jay wasn’t affected by the incident. On the contrary, Jay was as affected as the
others. If not a little bit more.

There weren’t any “love more, care more” situations going between them, but it was a truth that all
of them had different kinds of relationships with each other outside the romantic aspect.

For Jay and Sunoo, Sunoo seemed to seek Jay whenever he wanted to feel “safe”.

Jay used to be the safe place for Sunoo and even though things were changed right now, Jay could
only hope he could bring the quarter of the comfort he brought to the younger before.

That was why he was the one that waited for hours for Sunoo to wake up.

When Sunoo told him that he didn’t remember anything, Jay was foolish enough to think it was a
good thing.

He was wrong.

It was almost a week after the incident and they were all watching Sunoo like hawks.

The sigil they found in the note Sunoo received turned out to be a memory recovery sigil. It was an
old-school magic and thankfully it was done wrong. They weren’t even sure if the sigil would
work if it was done correctly because even though Sunoo was reincarnated, it didn’t mean his old
memories were locked inside his brain. Still, it was better to be safe than sorry.

They all knew Sunoo was having nightmares about his death and with the threat of memory
recovery sigils, they needed to be sure that Sunoo didn’t remember anything.

The change in Sunoo was subtle.

He wasn’t acting differently by any means, but he was carrying the physical effects of it. It seemed
like he was having nightmares more frequently and whenever Sunoo had nightmares, he would
have trouble going back to sleep. The dark eyebags and short naps he would take around the
campus were proof of it. He also seemed to get lost in thought more often.

Sunoo looked like he was crying when he joined them in the library.

Sunghoon, who was quick to notice his mood, frowned.

“What is wrong, Sunoo?” He stood up to walk towards him.

Sunoo looked surprised for a second. He seemed to forget that Sunghoon could read his emotions.

“I fought with one of my brothers.” Sunoo answered vaguely. He looked like he didn’t want to talk
about it. “It is fine.”

“But you are not fine.” Jungwon commented. His face softened when their eyes met.

Sunoo didn’t reply but he smiled softly at Jungwon.

“I’m fine. I’m just sad for him. I guess.” Sunoo shrugged. “He is not mad at me or anything. It is
something different.”

None of them asked any further questions about it.

Sunoo looked relieved. He opened his bag to take out his laptop. “I’m done with the fairy papers.”
He announced. It was clear that he wanted to change the topic.

“That’s good.” Jay commented. “Are you starting the report now?”

“Yes.” Sunoo nodded. “Last night I realized the survey papers were already summarized so that is
good news too.”

“When did you go to sleep?” Heeseung asked, eyes curious.

“I didn’t.” Sunoo sighed. “It is fine though. I took lots of naps.”

“You know that you can come to us when you can’t sleep, right?” Jake looked at him.

Ever since his conversation with Sunoo, he seemed much more comfortable with interacting with
him. Jake didn’t explain what they talked about, but it was clear that something heavy must have
been lifted from his shoulders.

“I know.” Sunoo sighed. “Sometimes I want to stay alone. I guess.”

It was clear that Sunoo was hiding something from them.

And they would find out.

Sunoo

“What do you know about reincarnation?”

Nicholas looked at him with an apathetic face. “Well, hello to you too.”

“Hi hyung.” Sunoo greeted him shortly. He wasn’t really in a chit chat mode.

Harua, who was sitting next to Nicholas, stared at him with widened eyes. He raised his arm to
wave at him.

“Hi, Harua.” Sunoo couldn’t help but smile.

“I don’t know anything.” Nicholas answered. “Why? Is it homework?”

“Kind of.” Sunoo lied. “Do you know someone who knows about it, then?”

“Maki knows!” Harua shouted excitedly. “Do you want me to call him?”

“Yes, thank you.” Sunoo nodded.

Harua disappeared from the screen.

“What is this about?” Nicholas asked once he left. He raised his eyebrows.

“Nothing. I’m just doing homework.”

Nicholas didn’t seem to believe him but he didn’t dwell on it.

Maki came a minute later. He looked like he ran to get there.

“What do you want to know?” He asked, breathless.

“Is it real?”

“Could be.” Maki shrugged. He pushed Nicholas to sit next to him. “No one would know it either
way. Because in theory you forget your past lives when you reincarnate. So even if you actually
did, you wouldn’t know.”

“That wasn’t helpful at all.” Sunoo frowned.

“If you care about my own personal opinion,” Maki continued, “It is real.”
“Why do you think so?”

“Some dreams feel way too real, don’t you think?”

Sunoo froze.

“Also, the whole deja vu thing.” Maki looked excited. “I think something happens right then. Our
souls somehow get triggered enough to know that they experienced it before.”

“You seemed like you thought about it a lot.” Sunoo almost forgot about himself for a second.

“Yeah, my dreams are always wild.” Maki sighed. “I kept experiencing deja vu since I was a kid
too.”

“If my dreams are visions from my past lives, I lived a pretty good life.” Nicholas chimed in. He
had a huge grin on his face. “I always feel pretty good after I wake up.”

“Do you know how to get clearer visions?” Sunoo asked but he was pessimistic. Maki was
knowledgeable in many things but he wasn’t sure if he knew enough about esoteric stuff.

“No idea. Sorry, hyung.” Maki shrugged.

Sunoo tried so hard to not pout.

“By the way,” Maki asked. His smile disappeared. “What is going on between you and Taki?”

“Nothing.” Sunoo lied.

“Liar.” Nicholas said. “The kid has been sulking since yesterday.”
“Yes, he didn’t even come hunting last night. You know he loves hunting.” Maki got closer to the
screen.

“I will talk with him.” Sunoo said. He didn’t want to explain what happened. “He just needs some
time I think.”

“Okay. We need to go.” Nicholas said. He raised his arm to show the time to Sunoo. “Patrol time.”

“Since when do you go for patrols?”

“Since I’m a grown ass adult, thank you very much.” Nicholas smugly smiled.

“Even Jo goes with him.” Maki said, sulking. “He is not even an adult.”

“It was one time and he won a bet.”

“I want to go too.”

Sunoo laughed. Even though he didn’t find the answers he was looking for, talking with his
brothers lifted his mood.

“Finally you are smiling.” Nicholas commented. “See you later, kit.”

Call ended a second later.

Then
“You think you are so smart, don’t you?” He asks, clearly mocking. “You think you figured it all
out.”

“Shut up.” Jay says, he loses his grip on the handle of the sword for a moment. “Shut up.” He
warns once again.

“Poor Sunoo.” He continues. “Being sacrificed for nothing. Do you think you can fix this?”

“At least we tried.” Jay says. “Did you really think we would accept our fate?”

“Fate.” He repeats. A chuckle escapes his lips. “You can’t change fate, you fool.”

“We already did.” Jay answers. “Look where you are now.”

“You think you did, but you only postponed it.”

“Enough talking.” Jay interrupts him. He raises the sword. “I don’t know about fate, but destiny
can be changed.”

Jay lowered the sword.

A scream echoed.

Now

Jay gasped in pain.

Chapter End Notes

WE ARE SO BACK!! pt 2

But seriously... I struggled so hard with another "slump" while writing this chapter. I
wrote and deleted 4 times already. It was hell. I kept those parts of course, they will be
added in the future chapters. But here we are (FINALLY) now.

Thank you so so much for the comments. I keep reading them whenever I need
motivation.

Since I seemed to get over this slump, I hope I can go back to my regular schedule. He
he.

I'm trying to keep the suspension and the questions while also trying to give out little
puzzle pieces for you to gather. I don't know how much of a good job I'm doing but
I'm trying. All the choices I make while writing are there and happened for a reason.
Nothing is really random, but I guess you figured out all already. :') Don't worry, we
are just getting started. Everything will unravel. But with time.

See you soon?

Much love, Duckz.

for a century

Jay

The last time Jay ever felt physical pain, he was still an angel.

Angels, despite being immortal, being able to fly and have some special powers, were the closest
creatures of God to humans. They could sleep, eat and get hurt. Emotions, such as love and hate
were not originally added to their essence, but like humans, they evolved.

Funnily enough, Jay experienced both love and pain for the first time with Sunoo.

The love was a story for another time. The pain, however, started and ended with him .

Jay knew what it meant instantly.

But it didn’t make sense. At all.

There was a sharp, excruciating pain that blossomed between his shoulder blades. Right on top of
his spine. Where his wings used to be.

It was the unmistakable pain of getting his wings cut off. The funny thing was, he never
experienced getting his wings cut off.

Jay whimpered in pain and managed to throw himself from the bed to the floor. He was trying to
use his arms to support his weight and keep himself up, but his arms were weak. He was gasping
for air, blinded by the pain.

Was this how Sunoo felt? Was this the pain he caused to Sunoo?

Jay, for more than one reason, cried out in pain.

“Jay!”

The panicked voices of his mates filled his ears.

Everything was too much. Too much noise. Too much pain. So loud. So fucking loud.

“Shut up.” Jay managed to say.

The voices were immediately cut off. He felt someone grabbing him from his arm to keep him up.

Jay didn’t dare open his eyes.

After what it felt like hours, the pain suddenly stopped.

Jay gasped for the last time. And opened his eyes.

“What happened?” Heeseung didn’t waste time asking questions.

“Karma.” Jay joked. A tasteless smile appeared on his lips.

Sunoo

Sunoo hasn't been feeling like himself lately.

There was an odd feeling, almost like an unfamiliarity he experienced when it comes to himself.
Like there was something missing. He was himself, just not complete. He knew himself, but also
didn’t.

Reincarnation theory seemed more real than it ever did before.

There must have been a past Sunoo that wanted to be remembered, wanted to be seen and heard.
He could feel the yearning of his old self. The pain, the sorrow and longing. He was ready to be let
out.

There was only one problem.

This Sunoo, the one that he is now, wasn’t sure what would happen if he remembered.

Was he supposed to remember?

There must have been a reason why he forgot in the first place. All the pain he still carried to this
life must have been enough of a reason to not remember. Maybe people reincarnated because they
deserved a fresh start. A happier, painless life.

Well, Sunoo’s new life wasn’t perfect either.

Maybe reincarnation was also a punishment.

It made sense, didn’t it?

Maybe he did something bad in his past life. Something so bad that God punished him with another
life, only to make him suffer in different ways.

It all made sense. And also didn’t.

Sunoo wondered if there was anything he could do to receive forgiveness. To break the
reincarnation loop, to die and stay dead.

Maybe he should start praying. And beg.

He didn’t feel like he had much time left anyway.

“I like you, Jungwon.” Sunoo said one day. Finding the vampire all alone next to the water
fountain seemed romantic enough. Jungwon was hardly ever alone anyway. It seemed like the
perfect timing.

And Sunoo didn’t really have much time left to waste.

Jungwon stared at him with widened eyes and an obvious shock.

“D-do you mean-” He tried to ask, stuttering.

“Yes. That way.” Sunoo nodded. He wasn’t sure why he was rushing too much right now.

Jungwon closed his mouth shut. He stared at him for a few seconds in utter shock.

Sunoo was starting to think it was a mistake.

“Why suddenly?” Jungwon managed to ask. His shock seemed to be replaced with worry. He took
a step towards him cautiously.

Sunoo smiled. “Why not?” He asked back. “Anything could happen. I would be sad if I couldn’t
tell you this.”
Jungwon closed his eyes briefly. Sunoo watched as the vampire closed his fist shut.

Jungwon was already staring at him when Sunoo averted his gaze back to his face.

“I like you too.” Jungwon said. Voice quiet but confident. “It’s been a while, actually.”

“Oh.” It was Sunoo’s time to be surprised. He never imagined being liked back, really. Especially
since Jungwon was already in a relationship with many others.

“I didn’t expect this.” Sunoo confessed. He laughed shyly.

Jungwon took another step towards him.

“Am I the only one?” He asked, a small smile appearing on his lips. “I don’t think I’m the only
one.”

“I-” Sunoo stuttered. Suddenly speechless. He felt different feelings towards other vampires too,
but he wasn’t really sure of them like he was for Jungwon. Still, he couldn’t deny there was
something.

“Never mind.” Jungwon said quickly. He reached to hold Sunoo’s hand.

“Can I kiss you then?” Jungwon asked, shameless.

Sunoo felt his cheeks burning. His heart was beating a little fast. Still, he didn’t feel any pain.

It turned out, his heart was capable of beating without causing him pain and discomfort.

“What about-”
“They wouldn’t mind. Actually, I think they would be happy.” Jungwon interrupted. His smug grin
turned into a genuine, shy smile. He grabbed Sunoo’s chin with one hand.

Then he kissed him.

Somehow, Sunoo could taste salty tears between their kisses.

He wasn’t the one crying.

Unlike other times, this time it was one of the vampires that found Sunoo.

“How did you get here?” Sunoo asked as the vampire lied next to him quietly.

He was on the roof and the only way to get in here was through the elevator. The elevator was only
being used by the staff and Sunoo himself.

“Climbing is easy.” Jay whispered. “I saw you from the forest.”

“You can see from there?” Sunoo was impressed.

“What are you doing here?” Jay asked instead of answering.

“Stargazing.” Sunoo replied. “The sky is so clear here. I can see everything.”

“Do you know their names?”

“Not really. I just love to look at them.”

Jay reached out to grab Sunoo’s hand. His touch was light as a feather. He gently raised Sunoo’s
pointer finger and turned it towards the sky.

“That one is Sunoo.” He said.

“Really?” Sunoo chuckled.

“Yes, I just named it.”

“Can you do that?”

“Why not?” Jay removed his hand from Sunoo’s. “It reminds me of you.”

Sunoo’s heart stopped for a second.

Jay was quiet.

“Jungwon told us about today.” Jay said after a while. His voice calm.

“Are you not mad?” Sunoo dared to ask.

“Why would we be?” Jay asked back. His voice didn’t seem to carry any resentment.

“Because he is your boyfriend. And I’m just a human that you met a few months ago.”

Sunoo could feel Jay was turning to look at him. Yet, he couldn’t find the bravery to do the same.

“None of us are mad.” Jay said. “The opposite, actually. We are happy.”
Sunoo couldn’t find the strength to verbally answer, so he nodded quickly.

“You do know that we like you too, right?”

Sunoo’s head quickly turned towards him.

Jay seemed… almost shy.

“What?”

“Why is it so hard to believe?” Jay smiled. “We’ve been pining after you for a while, actually.”

“Oh.” Sunoo didn’t know what to say. He put a hand over his heart.

“Oh.” Jay repeated. Lightly teasing him.

“I like you too. I think.” Sunoo said quietly.

The smile never left Jay’s lips. “You think?”

“I think it is a little confusing for me. I had crushes before, but… this felt a little too fast for me to
comprehend properly.”

“It didn’t feel short for us.” Jay said, voice going quieter. “It felt like a century .”

“Is this bad?” Sunoo was confused.

“Waiting was hard. But it is worth it in the end.” Jay answered.

“This is different for me.” Sunoo confessed. “I never felt like this before. I knew I liked you all. It
was almost immediate. But I had a hard time understanding the differences. Was it romantic? Was
it platonic? The ‘liking’ experience was different for all of you.”

“How come?”

“It is different. Not in a liking more or less way. I don’t know how to explain. It is just different.”
Sunoo whispered. “Maybe that is why it took me too long. I wasn’t sure about what this feeling
was. And when I realized it was romantic, then I had to figure out what was different all over
again.”

Jay hummed to let him know he was listening.

“It is a little scary for me, to be honest. I never knew I was capable of loving this many people.”
Sunoo continued. “And it was scary, because I felt something. Like there was something that so…
so familiar about you.”

The sadness in Jay’s eyes was unmistakable.

“I felt like I belonged, even though I knew I didn’t.”

Jay gasped, lightly but Sunoo could still hear it.

“You do.” Jay said. Louder and firmer. “You do belong.”

Sunoo smiled, closing his eyes.

How good it felt to hear those words.

Belonging somewhere, fully and truly. It was his dream.

Tears wet his cheeks unannounced.

How sad it was. To find a place for himself, only for it to not be permanent.

“I wish it was permanent.” Sunoo wished.

“It will forever be.” Jay promised.

Sunoo

“Are you going to stay here tonight?” Sunghoon’s muffled voice interrupted Sunoo’s thoughts.

Sunghoon raised his head that was resting on Sunoo’s chest (it was right on top of where his heart
was and Sunoo would be lying if he said he didn’t find it absolutely adorable and romantic) and
there was a small pout that started to grow with each passing second.

Sunoo smiled.

“Should I?” Sunoo asked. There had been only a day since he confessed liking the vampires and
even though Sunoo thought everything would change, nothing really changed.

Sure, most of them were extra clingy and surprisingly shy suddenly but there were no drastic
changes. Sunoo only then realized how close he was to the vampires prior to the confession. Apart
from everyone looking much more relaxed and comfortable, it was the same.

It just felt right. And normal. Everything was familiar. Like how it was supposed to be.

“Of course.” Sunghoon frowned. He put his head to Sunoo’s chest again. “There is no reason for
you to sleep alone in that sad room.”

“It sucks that you guys can’t sleep.” Sunoo sighed. “We could sleep together.”

Sunghoon wrapped his arm on Sunoo’s waist. “This is the closest thing to sleep we get. And I
appreciate every second of it.”

“Can I join?” Heeseung shyly asked.

Sunoo raised his arm instead of an answer.

Heeseung was quick to make himself comfortable. He lied next to Sunoo and put his head on
Sunoo’s chest. Sunoo rested his arm on Heeseung’s shoulder. Heeseung and Sunghoon’s heads
were lightly touching each other.

“Heavy.” Sunoo hummed.

Sunghoon immediately lifted his head.

“Are you okay?” Heeseung asked worriedly.

Sunoo pushed Sunghoon’s head back to his chest.

“It feels like a weighted blanket.” Sunoo replied. “It is nice.”

“Tell us if it hurts.” Sunghoon warned.

“I missed this.” Heeseung whispered.

“I missed this.” A voice echoes.

“I’ve only been gone for two days.” Sunoo says, failing to mask endearment.

“Long two days.” The voice corrects. The faceless person rests his head on Sunoo’s chest. His
arm wraps on his waist.

“I missed you.” Sunoo whispers.

“I missed you more.”

Sunoo closed his eyes.

Maybe he was imagining things.

Maybe it was just him losing his mind.

“What are you thinking?” Sunghoon, as always, seemed to notice the change in his mood.

“Nothing.” Sunoo lied. Even though he knew Sunghoon could probably tell that he was lying, he
didn’t feel like telling them about the visions he was having.

“Just to make it clear,” Heeseung whispered. “I promise I never and never will read your mind. But
there is nothing, and I mean it, nothing you can not share with us.”

“I know.” Sunoo hurriedly replied. “I trust you, hyung. It's just, I think it is something I need to
figure out first.”

“All we are saying is that you don’t need to face things alone anymore.” Sunghoon said. “We can
figure them out together.”

Sunoo smiled.

“Either way, we will be there for you always.”

“Can I draw you?” Niki asked one day. He was already holding a sketchbook but he looked shy
about it.

“For what?” Sunoo wondered.

“For myself.” Niki averted his gaze, mumbling.

“Okay.”

"Okay?"

“Yes.” Sunoo started to fix his hair. He didn’t have any mirror nearby so he pulled out his phone.
He ignored countless messages that he received the past few days.

“It might take hours.” Niki said, voice still low.

Sunoo turned his attention back to the vampire. Niki seemed like he was waiting for a rejection.
Sunoo didn’t know why, but it only made him want to agree to anything Niki would ask him to do.

“I don’t mind.” Sunoo smiled. “As long as you are happy.”

Niki nodded and walked past by him to sit on the empty spot right in front of him.

Sunoo waited patiently as Niki opened his sketchbook and slowly turned to pages to find an empty
place to draw.

“How do you want me to pose?” Sunoo asked once Niki picked up a pencil.

“C-can you smile?” Niki stuttered. His cheeks were flushed.

Sunoo didn’t have to fake it.

“Don’t move.” Niki warned softly. A small mirroring smile appeared on his lips.

“Hyung, don’t move.” A voice whines.

“I didn’t!” Sunoo opposes, even though he knows he moved his head slightly a moment ago.

The faceless person scoffs. Like he knows Sunoo lied.

“I’m almost done with the outline.” The voice calls, and picks up the pencil again. “I will reward
you if you can manage.”

“Reward me? With what?” Sunoo asks. He feels fluttered.

The faceless person laughs, then shakes his head.

There is something too familiar about the sound of his laughter.

Sunoo could feel his body frozen in shock. By some miracle, it seemed like he didn’t even close
his eyes. His sight, however, seemed to get cloudy for a moment.

“Are you okay?” Niki called out. He seemed to notice the change on Sunoo.

“Yeah.” Sunoo tried so hard to force the word out. He blinked quickly a few times to clear his
vision. He felt his smile tremble. “Sorry. Give me a second.”

Sunoo, a little harshly, slapped his cheeks.

“Is something wrong?” Niki’s worried voice was enough to pull Sunoo back.
Sunoo opened his eyes quickly and nodded. He was already feeling better so he didn’t have to lie.

“No. Let’s continue.”

“You need proper clothes for fall.” Jay interlocked their fingers. His gaze was carefully scanning
the display windows of the shops.

That morning, Sunoo was woken up to a sulking Jay holding two sweaters in his hands. He seemed
to visit Sunoo’s room to pick him some clothes for the day. And he didn’t seem happy about his
finds. He seemed even more disappointed when he learned the only weather appropriate jacket
Sunoo had was the jacket that Sunghoon gave him earlier.

It only took one glance from Jay to make Sunoo agree on going shopping with him.

“I will just let you do your thing.” Sunoo said. “I hate shopping.”

“Good.” Jay said. “I have a plan.”

“Just don’t go crazy.” Sunoo warned. “My parents are rich but not that rich.”

“Who said you will pay?” Jay turned to look at him like he was offended.

“Why would you pay for my stuff?” Sunoo looked at him in confusion.

“Because you are my boyfriend now, and I want to spoil you.”

Sunoo halted in shock.

It was the first time any of the vampires used the word “boyfriend”.

“Boyfriend?” Sunoo repeated.

Jay gently reached to cup Sunoo’s cheeks between his hands. He had a soft, but still somehow
teasingly, smile on his face.

“Yes.” Jay confirmed. “I know you were wondering about it for a while now. About what we
really are. Others guys are still super shy about calling you their boyfriend yet but I didn’t want to
wait longer.” Jay spoke softly. His fingers on Sunoo’s face were gently caressing his cheeks.
“You’ve always been a romantic.”

“You’ve always been a romantic.” A voice calls.

Sunoo turns to look at the faceless person that spoke. He feels his cheeks burn.

“Why are you teasing me now?” Sunoo pouts.

“I’m not teasing.” The voice refuses but Sunoo can tell he is lying. “It’s cute. You are cute.”

The faceless person caresses Sunoo’s cheek.

“I love you.” He whispers.

Sunoo felt his cheek gently patted.

“Sunoo?”
Sunoo blinked several times, trying to get rid of the cloudiness in his eyes.

Jay looked extremely worried. His eyebrows were frowned and his lips were tight like a straight
line. He gently tapped Sunoo’s cheeks once again when Sunoo didn’t reply.

“Please say something.” Jay begged.

Sunoo was confused. If Jay was this worried, he must have been very visibly gone.

“What?” Sunoo couldn’t help but ask. He realized it was a mistake when the worry on Jay’s face
seemed to grow. “I got lost in thought. Sorry, hyung.”

Jay didn’t seem to be relieved.

“Do you need to rest? Are you feeling bad?”

“No.” Sunoo shook his head. “I’m fine.”

“Long, long time ago. There was a boy.” The faceless person’s overly enthusiastic voice
interrupts Sunoo’s reading.

“No, what are you doing?” Sunoo whines.

“The boy wasn’t born, but created.” The voice continues. His enthusiasm only seems to grow
with each word.

Sunoo giggles, his book already forgotten on his lap.

“He wasn’t alone.” The voice gets quieter to create a dramatic effect. “But he was lonely.”

Sunoo rolls on the grass to get closer to the faceless person.

He raises his arm and pats his chest, asking Sunoo to lie on it.

“One day, out of despair and loneliness.” The voice continues, his fingers starting to play with
Sunoo’s hair. “He does something bad.”

“Like what?” Sunoo asks curiously.

“He falls for the wrong person.” The voice says like it was the worst news ever.

“How can there be a wrong person to love?”

The faceless person drops the book he was reading from to the grass.

“Now that I took your attention,” He says smugly, “I can get the kiss you owe me.”

“Owe?” Sunoo matches his energy. “I don’t owe you anything.”

The faceless person laughs. “Then I will have to steal one from you.”

“You are a kiss thief.”

“You are a kiss thief.” Sunoo said before he could comprehend what he said.

Jungwon, like he always does, seemed to take every chance he could possibly take to kiss Sunoo.
Sunoo wasn’t complaining or anything, he really enjoyed the kisses. But Jungwon seemed like he
was in some kind of rush. Like he was limited on time. Like he was trying to take every
opportunity to be close with Sunoo.

Jungwon reached to kiss him again. His arms wrapped his waist to pull him closer.

“Get a room.” Niki called out. He seemed both annoyed and delighted.

“We are in a room.” Jungwon said, not even bothering to turn to look at him. “I’m sure if you ask
nicely, Sunoo would kiss you too.”

“I’m not athletic. At all.” Sunoo complained. He was holding on Sunghoon’s hands like it was life
or death.

“It’s just rollerblades.” Sunghoon said. “You told me you wanted to try them.”

“Well, I didn’t actually mean it.” Sunoo tightened his grip. “Are you going to take me for bungee
jumping if I said I wanted to try it?”

“No. Because you would die.” Sunghoon said sharply. He didn’t seem to take Sunoo’s joke very
well. “Literally.”

“Yeah it would be an instant death for me. That's for sure.” Sunoo nodded. He removed one of his
hands momentarily to grab on Sunghoon’s shoulder. “Hyung, I will fall.”

“I will catch you if you fall.”

“I will catch you if you fall.”

Sunoo falls.

He catches him.

Sunoo finds himself in the air. Sunghoon was lifting him up.

“See, I catched you.” Sunghoon said proudly. He grinned and carried Sunoo to the bench.

Sunoo only had a few seconds to collect himself as Sunghoon started to untie his laces. Thankfully,
he didn’t seem to notice anything different.

“Anything else you want to try?” Sunghoon teased once he was done. He helped Sunoo wear his
sneakers.

“No.” Sunoo said. “I think I’m good.”

“You can play the violin?” Sunoo asked excitedly. He was standing next to Jake while he was
trying to pick an outfit from his closet.

There was a brown, leather violin case that was pushed at the back of his closet. The case looked
old and scratched, but it seemed loved and cared for .

“I used to.” Jake choughed. He looked tense.

“So you can play?”

“I didn’t pick up the instrument for years. Heeseung hyung carries it everywhere for me for some
reason.” Jake said. Picking out a hoodie from the shelf. It was the same blue color as the one
Sunoo was currently wearing. “I probably forgot.”
“Can you play something for me?” Sunoo pushed his luck. He was aware Jake was uncomfortable
about the topic but he needed to know why.

Jake stopped his motions and stood still for a few seconds. He seemed like he was actually
thinking about it.

“Okay.” Jake said after. He reached to gently pick up the violin case.

Sunoo clapped excitedly and watched as Jake carried the case to his bed.

Jake quickly unlocked the case. The violin was white. With gold patterns engraved on it.

“It’s so pretty.” Sunoo gasped. He took a step closer to take a better look at the violin. It seemed
like they were flowers.

Jake didn’t reply, but there was a small smile on his face. He picked up the instrument and checked
to see if everything was working properly. When he seemed satisfied enough, he shyly looked at
Sunoo.

And started playing.

The music was… nostalgic.

“What are you playing?”

“What are you playing?”

“I composed it.” The faceless person says. The music continues without a halt. “It is named
Sun.”
“Sun?” Sunoo asks.

“Yes.” The voice laughs. “It is your song.”

Sunoo opens his eyes only to see Jake’s were closed.

He seemed to be lost in the music, like he was completely embracing it. It was clear that this was a
special moment for Jake and Sunoo felt so lucky to be there to experience it.

For that moment, Sunoo almost completely forgot about the truth he was blissfully trying to
ignore.

Then

“Why are you helping us?” Jay asks. He wraps his arm around Sunoo protectively.

“Because I know it is the right thing to do.” The angel says. “And I’m returning a favor.”

“What favor?”

“Sunoo was there for me when no one else was.” The angel answers vaguely. Still, Jay doesn’t
miss the loving stare the angel sent towards Sunoo.

“They will punish you.” Jay warns. As much as he is grateful to the angel for helping them, he is
worried about him too.

“Yes.” The angel nods. “But I made up my mind.”

“What is your name?” Jay calls when he sees that the angel is about to leave.

“Riki.” The angel answers. “Remember my name, and I will remember yours. Sunoo and Jay. ”

700 KUDOS ;-;

Thank you so much. I have no words.

Sorry for the late update (4 days is late for me, yes). So here is a slightly longer
chapter. Hehe.

My own not-so-dark academia life will pick up again in less than a month so I'm really
speed running here. Hopefully I can finish it before then. ;-; If not, updates might be a
little bit slower. TMI of the day: I finally followed my dreams and I'm now going to
study literature. I will forever be a student, I'm afraid.

Comment are appreciated.

I will see you soon.

Much love, Duckz.

Then

“What do you like about them so much?” Jake asks, his fingers gently moving in a circle on the
younger’s back. “I mean, I know you don’t like them. But you find them interesting.”

Sunoo makes a sound like he is deep in thought, he turns his head towards Jake.

“When I was a young angel, right after being created.” Sunoo starts and Jake stops. He removes his
hand from his back and lies next to Sunoo.

“I heard many stories.” Sunoo says. He reaches his hand to hold hands with him. “One of them was
about him. ”

“Him?”

“Yes. Him.” Sunoo nods. “Lucifer.”

“Oh.”

“Some say his doom started because of love.”

“Well, that is bullshit.” Jake says.

“I guess.” Sunoo sighs. “There was one particular story I liked. It was about him falling to the
earth, and falling for a human that he despised so much.”

“That seems interesting.” Jake says, a little curious. “Tell me about it.”
“After he fell. He starts wandering in the world. For years and years. There is nothing he can do,
and nowhere else he could go. His hatred of humans only grows and grows.” Sunoo closes his eyes
for a second. Like he made himself sleepy with a bedtime story. “One day, he meets a human. A
woman.”

“Wow.”

“He falls in love with the woman. And she falls for him, without knowing anything about who he
is.”

“I didn’t know he was capable of love.”

“He didn’t either.” Sunoo confirms. “He starts to think it’s just a big game God is playing. It seems
like being able to experience such a beautiful thing after what he had done is impossible. Surely
God must have been messing with him, right?”

Jake can imagine what is about to be next.

“So, he kills her. He kills his human lover. So that God can’t take her from him.”

“No.” Jake whines.

“After he kills her, God talks to him. He tells him how he gave him another chance, and he ruined
it himself.” Sunoo’s voice gets quieter. “Lucifer gets furious. He vows to take revenge on God, no
matter how long it will take.”

“That’s all?” Jake asks when Sunoo seems to stop.

“Not really.” Sunoo replies. “When Lucifer starts a religion, a cult after himself, his followers start
to do human sacrifices. Taking away their lives when their time has not come yet. Basically playing
God, mocking fate.”
Jake’s eyes widen.

“So, God punishes Lucifer for the last time. He takes away his body, turns it into ashes. There is
only his soul left. His soul gets abandoned in the world, without being able to touch, talk or
communicate with anyone.”

Jake shakes his head to imply Sunoo to hurry.

“He becomes nothing, while he is in everything. That was his ultimate punishment.” Sunoo smiles
when he notices Jake’s interest in the story.

There is a moment of silence.

“So, to answer your first question.” Sunoo continues. “I like to watch them, because I noticed
fairies started to come to Lucifer’s altar.”

“Fairies?”

“Yes. Not many. Only one.” Sunoo pouts. “And it is the same one always. But it is weird enough
to me.”

“Fairies are neutral.” Jake says. He frowns in thought. “It is weird for them to be in one side’s
worship place.”

“Exactly!” Sunoo yells, forgetting their other boyfriends sleeping in other beds. “That is why I’m
curious.”

“Just be careful.” Jake says after a moment. He knows he can’t stop Sunoo. “Promise?”

“Promise, love.” Sunoo says, reaching for a kiss.

Now

Sunoo

“Hey, it’s Sunoo right?”

A human and a fairy that Sunoo never saw before, sat to the empty seats on the opposite side of
Sunoo’s desk.

Sunoo could only nod lightly before the human offered him a handshake.

“I’m Ethan, and this is Apple.” He introduced himself and the fairy. His grip on Sunoo’s hand was
way too tight.

The fairy, who had a really mischievous smile on his lips, winked at him. “It is not my real name.”
He clarified.

“Figured.” Sunoo said, forcefully removing his hand away. He couldn’t help but frown at the two
strangers. There was an ominous, uncomfortable feeling that surrendered the two.

“I will just cut the chase.” The human, Ethan, said. His grin only grew when he noticed the frown
on Sunoo’s face. “We were wondering if you would want to join our… club .”

“A club?” Sunoo repeated.

“It is a secret. So you have to actually join before you can learn what it is about.” The fairy said.
“That is a pass for me then.” Sunoo said. There was no way he would willingly jump into a
situation like that. Especially if fairies were involved.

Like they expected Sunoo’s refusal, neither the human nor the fairy seemed saddened by it.

“You seem very familiar.” The human said. Leaning towards him. His eyes sparkling in
excitement. “ So, so familiar. ”

Sunoo felt his hand tingling.

“Maybe I have a common face.” Sunoo said. He was already making plans to leave this situation.

“Could be.” The fairy nodded. He stared at him with a growing grin. “Even your name is familiar.”

“Such a pretty name.” The human chimed in. “So many nicknames you can create from it. Noo.
Noonoo. Sun. Sunny. ”

“Sunny!”

“Yes, love?”

“Y o u p r o m i s e d!”

“Promised what?”

“Hyung, promised what?”

Sunoo woke up to a darkness.

Vampires

“Fuck! We totally lost track of time!” Sunghoon yelled, not even caring about being in the library.
He turned his wrist with the watch on towards his mates to make a point.

“We were supposed to pick him up from his class.” Jungwon stood up, hurriedly packing his stuff.

“He probably already went to our room.” Jay mumbled. His own bag was already packed and
placed on his shoulder. “His class ended two hours ago.”

Niki stood up to teleport without a word.

“I hope he doesn’t wake him up.” Heeseung sighed. Niki was still a little bit clumsy with his gift.
“Last time he almost fell into Sunoo because he tripped.”

“He is not in the room.” Niki appeared seconds later, looking extremely worried.

“What?” Jungwon pulled out his phone. He frowned as soon as the screen lit up. “No messages. He
usually texts me before going anywhere.”

“I don’t like this.” Jay grumbled. “I’m calling him.”

“Yeah. I don’t feel good about this.” Heeseung said. He turned to ask Niki to search the campus
but it seemed like he already left.
“He is not answering.” Jay whispered. His phone screen cracking under his grip.

“Niki left to search, I’m sure he will find him in no time.” Heeseung walked to Jay, putting his
hand on his shoulder to give him some grounding.

“We should still try to look for him.” Jake said quietly. Avoiding eye contact.

“Of course.” Sunghoon said softly. “Let’s split.”

Sunoo

Sunoo woke up to a dream. He knew it was a dream because he was floating. He realized it was
actually a nightmare because it was dark.

It was so dark.

Ever since he was a little kid, Sunoo was indifferent to darkness. Maybe it was because of the
security that came from his pack, but he felt like there was nothing that could harm him in the dark
as long as he had his pack with him.

Now, his pack was not with him. And the darkness seemed to visit him in his dreams constantly.
When the night fell and he had to go to sleep, there was no one that could protect him from it.

Even his boyfriends.

“Do you want to hear something funny, Sunoo?” A voice he never heard before, called out to
him mockingly.

Even though the voice called out to “Sunoo”, Sunoo knew he wasn't the Sunoo the voice was
calling for.

“I’ve been acting like you. For quite a long time. And they didn’t even notice I wasn’t you.” The
voice said, like purring.

“You are a fool if you think I would believe you.” The Sunoo from his dreams said.

The voice laughed, but it was clear that it was annoyed. Like it was mad that it couldn’t succeed
tormenting the dream Sunoo.

“It doesn’t matter.” The voice spat. “It is me who is out, and it is you who is stuck here.”

Sunoo from his dreams said nothing. But Sunoo could feel his desperation.

It seemed like the voice was able to feel it too.

“I will leave you alone now.” The voice sang, gaining it’s sadistic joy back. “Enjoy the
nothingness.”

“Sunoo!”

“Sunoo, come back to me.”

“Sunoo?”
“Sunoo?”

“Sunoo!”

“Please, Sunoo!”

“FUCK!”

Sunoo felt someone checking his pulse.

“Hyung?”

Niki?

Sunoo opened his eyes.

“I thought you died!” Niki yelled the moment he saw Sunoo opening his eyes. His cheeks were wet
with tears.

“I think I fell asleep.” Sunoo said, voice hoarse. He forgot the terrifying nightmare (or the vision)
he had the second he saw Niki crying. He reached to wipe the vampire’s tears. Niki was on his
knees on the floor.

It only took Sunoo a few seconds to remember they were in the little glass walled study room in
one of the buildings.

Niki closed his eyes momentarily and took a few calming breaths. His hand was holding Sunoo's
wrist gently, but firmly.

“So, you are fine?” He asked to confirm.

“Yes. Just a nap.” Sunoo nodded. “Did I worry you guys?”

“Yes.” Niki said. He seemed to be relieved enough to pout in protest. “Don’t do it again.”

“Don’t fall asleep?” Sunoo grinned.

“Yes.” Niki helped Sunoo get up from his chair.

“Got it.” Sunoo smiled. He started to stretch while Niki was busy packing his stuff for him.

“Oh, it’s already 8 PM.” Sunoo frowned. “I think I missed several of my classes.”

Niki chuckled and pulled out his phone to call someone.

“I found him.” Niki said on the phone. Sunoo figured it was one of the vampires. “He is fine. Yes,
we are coming to the room.”

“Can we pick up some food first?” Sunoo asked when Niki ended the call. “I’m starving.”

“I will get you whatever you want later.” Niki held his hand. “I need to take you to our room first.
They were worried too.”

Sunoo frowned in guilt. He really hated being a worry and a burden to other people. He knew that
none of this was his fault, but that fact didn’t help to lessen the guilt.

Niki squeezed his hand lightly.

“It’s not your fault.” He said like he knew what he was thinking. “We are just a bunch of over-
thinkers. And over-worriers.”

“And a little dramatic.” Sunoo joked to lighten up the mood.

“Being dramatic is literally in the description of a vampire.” Niki nodded, trying so hard to keep a
serious face. “You can google it.”

Sunoo laughed and Niki smiled.

“Close your eyes.” Niki squeezed his hand once more. “Last time you forgot, you got a headache.”

Sunoo closed his eyes.

Chapter End Notes

This might be the biggest (the most direct) reveal I did so far. I kind of felt bad I'm not
going to lie because personally, I love the uncertainty and theories while reading
stories. But I was also aware it was supposed to happen at some point. At least we
have so many more plot reveals to happen so I can live with this :')

Sunoo

It started with a dot. A small, black, perfectly shaped dot. It was so tiny that it was very hard to
notice at first glance but for Sunoo, it was impossible to overlook.

There was a dot in the middle of his right hand’s palm.

Sunoo, without wanting to alert his boyfriends, quietly tried to wipe off the dot. He thought it
might have been a stain from his pen, or even dirt but no amount of effort seemed to work to
remove it. He even tried to scrape off it, but it only caused irritation on his skin. The dot seemed to
be permanent.

Maybe it was a beauty mark?

It was weird. But Sunoo tried to not overthink it. Whatever the dot really was, it could wait a little.
Sunoo had bigger problems to worry about.

“What are you doing?” Heeseung’s curious voice interrupted Sunoo’s thoughts.

Sunoo shrugged and pulled the strings of the vampire’s hoodie so he could lean towards Sunoo.
Sunoo kissed the vampire quickly and watched as the vampire blush shyly.

Even after weeks of being together, some of them were still very shy about it. Especially
Heeseung.
“I can taste blood.” Sunoo said after pulling himself. He grabbed his mug that was filled with hot
chocolate to the brim and took a sip.

“Sorry, I just fed.” Heeseung looked genuinely sorry.

“No, hyung. It’s okay.” Sunoo grabbed his hand. “I’m sure I taste terrible most of the time.”

Heeseung chuckled but shook his head. “No, you always taste so good.”

Sunoo couldn’t tell if he was lying or not, but he didn’t dwell on it. He stood up from his chair and
took a look at their room. Yes, it was their room now. Sunoo’s old room was basically empty
except for his suitcases.

“Where did everyone go?” He asked curiously. He followed Heeseung as he made his way towards
the kitchen area.

“The library.” Heeseung answered vaguely. “They will be back in an hour.”

Sunoo hummed and watched as Heeseung started to go through the cabinets.

“What are you looking for?” Sunoo took another sip from his drink. Heeseung must have carried it
here with him.

“Your medicine.” Heeseung replied. He sounded deep in thought.

“Why?”

“Your heart rate slowed down quite a lot.”

Huh. That explained the sudden drowsiness. Sunoo was too distracted with his own work to
realize.
“It is in my bag.” Sunoo said but Heeseung shook a bottle he found in one of the drawers.

“I found the spare bottle.” Heeseung opened the cap and placed one in Sunoo’s palm.

Even if he noticed the tiny dot on his palm, he didn’t change his facial expression.

Sunoo hoped he didn’t.

Before Sunoo could ask for it, Heeseung gave him a glass of water.

“Sunoo.” Heeseung’s gentle voice called out after a moment. “Do you have a history of
sleepwalking?”

“No.” Sunoo quickly answered. He was sure of his answer because it would be impossible for him
to sleepwalk without being noticed while living with a pack. “Why?”

Heeseung placed a hand under his chin. He mumbled something to himself before turning his gaze
towards him.

“You were sleepwalking last night.” He said finally. “You tried to leave the room.”

“Did I talk?” Sunoo ignored the sleepwalking part. Coincidentally, last night was also the first time
he didn’t see any dreams/nightmares since he came to the university.

“No.” Heeseung sat in the chair. “Not a single word.”

That was interesting. What were the odds of starting to sleepwalk the same night he didn’t see
anything at all for the first time in forever?

Sunoo sighed and ruffled his hair in frustration. He didn’t feel good about this.
“What is it?” Heeseung asked worriedly.

“Nothing. I just-” Sunoo wasn’t even sure himself. “So many things are happening lately. It is
frustrating.”

Heeseung looked at him sadly. Sunoo averted his gaze.

“How are you feeling now?” Heeseung asked instead, trying to change the topic.

“Fine.” Sunoo put a hand on his chest. “I didn’t even notice it myself before you mentioned to be
honest.”

Heeseung gasped.

“Sunoo, that is not good. What if it happens again when we are not around to notice?”

That would be bad. Sunoo thought.

“I will be more careful.” Sunoo said instead. “I promise.”

Heeseung sighed. He grabbed Sunoo’s now empty mug and placed it into the sink.

“Are you hungry?” He asked. He seemed like he was trying to find something to occupy himself.

“You are not allowed in the kitchen.” Sunoo said, laughing. “I can take a nap until the others come
though.”

Heeseung smiled. Even though he couldn’t sleep, he enjoyed cuddling with Sunoo while he took a
nap.
“Sounds great.”

The dot grew in size. It was still not big enough to be easily noticed but since Sunoo made a habit
of obsessively looking at it, he noticed right away.

He was getting a little worried. But at least the sleepwalking seemed to stop. And the nightmares
came back. The visions, however, were never really gone.

Sunoo knew that eventually he would have to talk about his visions with someone. Probably his
boyfriends. Or with his brothers at least.

They were too real and consistent to continue ignoring anymore. Sunoo knew, deep down, that
they were real.

If he was really seeing visions about his previous life, it was clear that he had multiple partners like
he had right now. And there was something so… familiar about the people he saw in his visions.

Could it be possible for the vampires to reincarnate too? Did they remember? Or was it all a
coincidence? Maybe they weren’t even the same people. Maybe the visions Sunoo had didn’t even
belong to him . Or maybe… he was just losing his mind.

There were too many questions and no answers.

Sunoo felt a tingling start from his neck all the way down his entire spine.

He felt like something bad was about to happen.

“What?” Taki yelled right after accepting Sunoo’s call.

Taki, by nature, was a very calm and easygoing person. He was always kind and sweet and it was
really hard to make him angry. Since it was rare to see him mad, it was usually very scary to see
him like that.

“Are you still mad at me?” Sunoo pouted. He already knew the answer to his question but he was
hoping to ease him a little bit. It didn’t work.

“Did you break up with them and buy your ticket here?” Taki asked. His eyes never lost the icy
cold stare.

“No.” Sunoo whispered.

“Then I’m still mad at you.” Taki confirmed. “And you didn’t answer any of my texts. Or the
hyungs’. Or the kids’.”

“Well, there was nothing to answer.” Sunoo frowned. “It was mostly threats and yelling in text
form.”

“Hyung.” Taki’s voice was firm but his stare was softened. “We are just worried. Okay? You can’t
blame werewolves for not trusting vampires .”

“I get it.” Sunoo tried to not sound provocative. “It is just… I’m a human. It is different for me.”

Taki stayed quiet for a few moments. Sunoo could almost hear him thinking.

“You might be human.” Taki said after a while. “But you are still part of the pack. And outside the
supernatural part, you are our brother. So we see you as our own.”

Sunoo tried so hard to not burst into tears right then.

“So yes, we were a little mad and mostly worried about the vampire dating part.” Taki said. “I
guess you left me no choice.”

Taki sighed dramatically.

“What? What are you going to do?” Sunoo was alarmed. He wouldn’t tell to their parents, right?

“I will come visit you.” Taki said, grinning.

“What?” Sunoo jumped on his seat. “You can’t!”

“I actually can.”

“Mom and dad would never let you.”

“I will run away.” Taki said it like it was obvious.

“Do you have any idea how expensive plane tickets are? And there are hours of car rides too.”

“I have saved up money.” Taki frowned.

“How are you going to escape?”

“Mom and dad are going to visit grandpa in less than two weeks.” Taki whispered. “I have a plan.”

Sunoo groaned. “You will get in trouble.”

“I won’t.”
“How are you so sure?”

“Because I have a plan.”

“You are a minor, you can’t fly alone.” Sunoo tried.

“I will take Euijoo hyung with me.” Taki seemed unbothered. It was clear that he actually planned
every single detail. “He owes me big.”

Sunoo knew he already lost.

“Fine.” Sunoo said. “You will come here. Then what?”

Taki smiled. “I will give them the brother talk .”

“And what is the talk?”

“I don’t know.” Taki whined. “I have time to think about it.”

“Just be careful.” was all Sunoo could say.

“You too.”

Sunoo ended the call and closed his eyes. He was certain that he would get in trouble but as long as
Euijoo hyung was with him, he didn’t have to worry about his safety. He wondered what was the
reason he owed Taki.

Sunoo felt a cold hand on his shoulder.

“How did it go?” Jay asked.

Everyone knew about the drama that was going on between him and his brothers, but it was Jay
that suggested Sunoo to finally talk with Taki.

“Good.” Sunoo leaned into the touch. “He said he is coming here.”

“When?” Jay moved in front of Sunoo so he could look at him. But his hand never left his
shoulder.

“In a few weeks.” Sunoo said. “He said he will run away with one of our brothers. I’m not sure if
he can manage it though.”

Jay smiled. “I want to meet him.”

“You never saw him before?” Sunoo asked. “We used to facetime each other a lot.”

“I don’t think so.”

“Well, if he can manage it, you will see him soon.” Sunoo pulled Jay to force him to sit next to him
but Jay pulled him instead. Sunoo stood up and let Jay wrap his arms around his waist. “He is very
cute.”

“Cuter than you?”

“Everyone is cuter than me.” Sunoo said, smiling.

Jay kissed his neck.

“I doubt it.”
When the black dot on his palm grew three sizes overnight and it was impossible to hide it
anymore, Sunoo used the cold weather as an excuse to wear his fingerless gloves.

“Good news is, it is not cancer.” His doctor said with certainty. “Bad news is… I don’t know what
it is.”

Sunoo wasn’t sure if he should be relived or not.

“Don’t take my word on it, but it might be some kind of curse.” The doctor said. He grabbed
Sunoo’s hand once again to take a look at the dot. “It moves, did you notice?”

Sunoo felt his eyes widen. He didn’t.

“I guess it is too fast for human eyes to see.” The doctor mumbled. “Did you experience anything
weird lately? Talked with anyone? Perhaps a fairy?”

“Why fairy?” Sunoo asked even though he knew the answer. But it was the human that touched
him. Not the fairy.

“Fairies are the best in curses. It is their thing.” the doctor said. He removed his hand from
Sunoo’s. “It is best to not interact with them much.”

“No.” Sunoo lied. “No fairies.”

Doctor looked at him like he could see that he was lying. He sighed.

“Magic and curses are not really my area.” He said after. “Perhaps you should talk about this with
your boyfriends.”

“I will.” Another lie. “Sometime.”

“Since you are already here, why don’t we take a look at your heart?” He wore his stethoscope
without waiting for an answer.

Sunoo nodded.

“Do you believe in reincarnation?”

Sunoo figured pulling the bandage off at once was better than trying to turn the topic into it.

“What?” Jake stood up in shock. “Suddenly?”

Sunoo pulled him back to the grass. He didn’t trust himself to not show the truth on his face.

Jake lied back again and Sunoo placed his head on his shoulder so he couldn’t move.

“Yeah.” Sunoo mumbled. “Do you believe in it?”

“Yes.” Jake’s answer came quickly. “I do.”

“Do you think you reincarnated then?”

“No. I was something else before I was a vampire, but it wasn’t reincarnation.”

“I think I started to believe in it too.” Sunoo whispered.

“Why?” Jake asked after what felt like centuries. His voice was even quieter than Sunoo’s.

“I just do.” Sunoo said. He didn’t feel ready to talk about his visions. Not yet.

And if he was going to talk about it, he would talk when all of his boyfriends were present.

“Do you think I will reincarnate after I die?” Sunoo asked instead. If he was really reincarnated,
was it a possibility to reincarnate once again? Was there a limit?

Sunoo felt Jake’s body froze.

“Don’t.” Words barely managed to leave Jake’s mouth. Sunoo heard him taking a deep breath to
collect himself. “You are not going to die.”

“Let’s be realistic here, hyung.” Sunoo said bitterly. He didn’t mean to sound like that, but he
needed them to be aware of his limited time. Because it seemed like everyone was in some kind of
denial. Or ignorance.

“I won’t let you die.” Jake said. Words came out like he was struggling with letting out any sound.
And he was. Sunoo didn’t need to see him to know that it was so hard for him. “I promise.”

“That is romantic.” Sunoo tried to joke.

“Please don’t joke about it, Sunoo.” Jake begged. Still, he sounded a bit better than a second ago.
“I keep my promises.”

Sunoo wanted to believe him.

“But-” Jake said after a moment, grabbing Sunoo’s hand and intervening their fingers. “ If you die,
I would do anything to make sure that you reincarnate back to us.”

Sunoo closed his eyes and smiled. That, for some reason, was something he felt like he could
believe Jake wholeheartedly.
Then

“What kind of an angel are you?” Sunoo asks as he carefully approaches the angel that sits alone in
the field. The angel looks young, maybe a couple days passed after his creation. His wings are shut
on his back but it is clear that they are small. Way too small.

The angel startles and turns into Sunoo with widened eyes.

“Hmm?” Sunoo smiles to encourage the angel to speak.

“I don’t know.” The angel answers. “I think they forgot to assign me a job.”

Sunoo shakes his head. “No. I’m sure they didn’t! Maybe they are still thinking about it.”

The angel laughs, like Sunoo told a joke. “What are you?”

“I’m supposed to be a guardian angel.” Sunoo says. He sits on the grass next to him. “I didn’t get
assigned a job either.”

The angel nods, he looks in a better mood than he was moments ago.

“What is your name?” Sunoo asks next.

“Riki.”
“Riki? I know a Riki.” Sunoo smiles. “I’m Sunoo.”

Riki nods, a small smile appears on his face. “Maybe I should change my name.”

“Why? Riki is nice.” Sunoo pouts.

“I want to be the only one.”

“You don’t have to change your name to be the only one.” Sunoo says. “But if you want to be
unique, I will call you my brother.”

“Brother? Isn’t it a thing for humans?” Riki looks confused.

“I guess, but you don’t have to share a blood to be brothers.” Sunoo shrugs. “I feel like you would
be a great brother for me.”

Riki stays still for a few moments. Sunoo watches the young angel as he looks deep in thought.
When Riki’s thoughtful stare turns into a happy smile, Sunoo smiles too.

“Okay.” Riki says. “I will be your brother.”

Sunoo raises his hand to pat the angel’s head but Riki groans in pain. He raises his left hand to
check his wrist.

Sunoo knows what was about to happen.

A light appears on Riki’s wrist. His job is about to be revealed. A symbol that will show what kind
of angel he is.

But when the light suddenly turns dark and slowly disappears, Sunoo gasps.
There it is, a symbol that will show Riki’s kind.

An angel of death.

Vampires

It was both praiseworthy and annoying that Heeseung was so serious about his promise to not read
Sunoo’s mind.

Since the day one of their turning, Heeseung was very careful about his powers. In the early days
when he still didn’t know how to fully control them, he would go to extreme lengths like going
away as far as possible to not hear, see or feel anything. And there were two main reasons for that.

One, it was to respect his partners’ privacy.

And two, it was to keep his sanity.

Losing Sunoo was the single most painful thing that ever happened to him. No, being cursed by
God and becoming a monster was nothing compared to it. Nothing he would experience in his
immortal life would ever compare to it. There was nothing worse that could happen and nothing
could hurt more than it did when they lost him. That was the peak. That was the apocalypse of his
world. Their world .

His pain was already unbearable as it was. Experiencing his lovers’ pain on top of it was… worse
than death.

So that was why since the day he fully learnt to control his “gift”, Heeseung vowed to never use his
powers unless he got explicit permission. And he was a man of his word.

Even though his boyfriends admired Heeseung’s fidelity, right now they were having a hard time
not to snap.

“I don’t care, hyung.” Niki whispered quietly not to wake up Sunoo. “He is hiding something.”
Heeseung sighed and turned his head slightly to take a look at Sunoo.

It was almost midnight and Sunoo was sleeping soundly wrapped in a fluffy green blanket in one
of their beds. It was the bed Jay used the most often.

“We need to know what it is, hyung.” Jungwon spoke next. “We can’t protect him if we don’t
know what is going on.”

“Did he sleepwalk again?” Jake whispered.

“No.” Jay shook his head. “I’m not sure if it is good or not.”

“Of course it is good.” Jake frowned. “It was so fucking scary seeing him like that. It was just
like-”

Just like before.

They knew it wasn’t the same, but it looked the same.

“Well, something is happening.” Sunghoon crossed his arms. “He’s been acting strange for a while
now.”

“He keeps dissociating.” Jungwon added. “It’s not like before . I’m sure of it. He is not really gone
. He is responsive almost immediately. It is like… like he is remembering something.”

“We would notice if he remembered.” Jay frowned.

“Maybe he doesn’t remember everything, but-” Jake cut himself quickly. He seemed like he was
doubting if he should say it or not.

“But what?” Heeseung insisted.

“He asked me about reincarnation.” Jake said in one breath. He averted his gaze to the floor.

“He what?”

“Why didn't you tell us sooner?”

“So he remembers?”

“Be quiet!” Jungwon warned angrily. He sent a quick glance at Sunoo to make sure he didn’t wake
up because of the yellings. Thankfully, Sunoo was a deep sleeper. It was very hard to wake him up
without touching him.

“I don’t think he remembers everything.” Jake said. He covered his face with his hands and made a
frustrated noise. “I think it is only partly.”

“I would notice if he lied.” Sunghoon chimed in. “I don’t think he remembers us.”

“So let’s make it clear.” Niki crossed his arms. “He has nightmares about dying, he remembers
things from his past life and there is something weird going on but we have no idea what it is.”

“Yeah. That is pretty much it.” Jungwon nodded. He looked annoyed.

“So we know nothing.” Niki stood up. His voice got lower like it always does when he gets angry.
“Great!”

“We would know if Heeseung actually used his gift.” Sunghoon pointed at Heeseung with his chin.
He seemed to be affected by Jungwon and Niki’s moods.

“I promised Sunoo-” Heeseung’s sentence was cut off when Jay suddenly jumped on his feet and
ran towards the bed.
“Sunoo?” Jay called out softly.

It was happening again.

Sunoo rose up on the bed like a puppet whose strings were pulled up. His eyes opened wide but it
was clear that he wasn’t conscious. He got up the bed without saying anything.

“He is sleepwalking again.” Jay whispered. He tried to reach out to hold him but Jungwon ran there
to stop him.

“Don’t touch, hyung.” Jungwon warned. “I read that it can cause him to lash out.”

“What if he tries to leave the room again?” Jake asked worriedly.

Niki went in front of the door and locked it before blocking it with his body.

“Sunoo.” Sunghoon called out. “Let’s get you to bed, hmm?”

“No, it doesn’t hurt.” Sunoo said dully. He started walking towards the kitchen.

“What is happening?” Jay frowned.

“Sleepwalkers talk too.” Jungwon sighed and followed Sunoo.

“But he is not actually meaning them, right?” Heeseung asked. “He is not conscious.”

“I don’t know.” Jungwon turned off the water boiler Sunoo pressed on a second ago. “Probably.”

Sunoo looked like he was trying to make himself tea.

“I think he had a nightmare.” Heeseung whispered. Whenever Sunoo woke up from a nightmare,
Heeseung would make him some tea. “He is trying to make tea.”

Sunoo didn’t seem like he was listening to the conversation going around him. He pulled out a
blend he liked from the cabinet and almost bumped into Jake while going for a mug. Jake moved
out of his way quickly and held the sharp edge of the cabinet so Sunoo wouldn’t hit his head.

“You don’t like mint?” Sunoo asked. “Good. Now leave me alone.”

“Who is he talking to?” Niki whispered. He sat down on one of the chairs so he could watch over
him comfortably.

“I have no idea.” Jungwon said.

Sunoo reached out for the kettle but he must have noticed that it was not hot. He pouted and
pressed the button once again.

“Sunoo, do you want me to make you tea?” Heeseung asked. He really didn’t want him near
anything hot while he was sleepwalking.

“Where were you, hyungie?” Sunoo turned to him. He looked like he was about to cry. “It is not
contagious.”

“What?” Heeseung felt his own heart break. “What do you mean, baby?”

Sunoo halted. He carelessly put the mug on the counter. His lips trembled.

“It is not contagious.” He repeated. He raised his right hand and turned his palm towards him.

The black mark. That fucking black mark.

It was tragically funny, really.

Risking everything, breaking every rule, not following the orders and even sacrificing Sunoo to try
and save him from that fucking mark just for it to appear again.

Maybe they were already in hell.

After showing them the mark and everyone was frozen in shock and despair, Sunoo went back to
bed without saying a word.

“No.” It was Jake that first found his voice. “No no no no no no no-”

Heeseung tried to approach him but Jake flinched like he got slapped.

“Not again.” Jake was delirious. “I can’t do it again.”

Everything crumbled.

It felt like years had passed when Sunoo finally woke up the next day.

Since it was the weekend, none of them tried to wake him up when he continued sleeping past 10
AM. They all needed some time to calm down and collect themselves before having to face him.

Niki cleaned his throat to alert Jay when he noticed Sunoo was about to wake up.

He gathered all his strength and gently brushed Sunoo’s hair from his eyes. His hair was getting
too long again.
“Niki?” Sunoo’s confused raspy voice almost made him smile despite the circumstances. But there
was a heavy feeling in his chest and throat and even thinking about smiling made him think that he
would not manage it.

“Good morning.” Niki barely managed to whisper. He was rarely on the same bed with Sunoo and
he knew that Sunoo finding himself in his arms was a shocker by itself.

Sunoo smiled and snuggled closer to him.

“Still sleepy?”

“Hmm.”

“Are you not hungry?”

Sunoo’s eyes opened wide.

“What do you want to eat?” Jay called from the kitchen area. His apron was already on and he was
looking inside the fridge.

Niki kissed Sunoo’s head before loosening his arms so he could get up.

Sunoo stood up quickly and Niki stared at him as Sunoo made his way towards the kitchen area.

Jay reached to give Sunoo a kiss but Sunoo stopped him. “I need to brush my teeth first.”

Jay chuckled and kissed Sunoo’s forehead instead.

“Can you make soup?” Sunoo pulled out the miso paste from the fridge and handed it to Jay.

“Sure.” Jay didn’t question. He quickly grabbed the rest of the ingredients and put them on the
counter.

“Where is everyone?” Sunoo looked around when he noticed the absence. He went towards the
bathroom next.

“Morning walk.” Jay answered. It was only half of the truth. Yes, they were technically on a ‘walk’
but there was also hunting. And there was a little ‘group therapy session’ involved which mostly
meant Jake and Heeseung would talk and Sunghoon and Jungwon would try to help. Jay and Niki
were the only ones who didn’t like the group talk.

“They will be back soon.” Jay added quickly. He called Niki to the kitchen with his hand. “Can you
cut the tofu?”

They heard the water turning on. Sunoo was probably taking a shower.

Niki grabbed the knife and started cutting up tiny pieces from the tofu. Just the way Sunoo liked
them. “Are we going to tell him?”

“No.” Jay said firmly. “We agreed not to. For now.”

“He will be so upset when he learns that we hid it from him.” Niki frowned. “There is no way he is
not suspicious of the mark.”

“Telling him about the mark means we need to tell him everything.” Jay reminded him. “We need
to think about it carefully.”

“It is not like we have all the time in the world.”

The door of their room opened before Jay could even answer. One by one, the rest of their
boyfriends crowded into the kitchen area.

Jay could smell the blood from them. He needed to drink too.
“Where is Sunoo?” Jake asked. His eyes were still very red from crying.

“Showering.” Niki answered.

“Is that miso soup?” Jungwon curiously looked inside the pot. “Whose birthday is it?”

“Nobody’s. Sunoo wanted to drink it.” Jay handed him a spoon to stir it.

“It is not his birthday, is it?” Sunghoon asked worriedly. He pulled out his phone to check the date.

“No, it was in summer.” Jay halted for a second to think. A small smile appeared on his lips. “He
was created around the same time as an angel too.”

“You were the first one to meet him, right?” Sunghoon asked.

“Yes.” Jay nodded. “It was love at first sight for me.”

“Awww.” Niki teased him. He poked him with his elbow.

“Yet, he fell for me first.” Jungwon joined the teasing.

“You fell for him first too.” Heeseung corrected. “You were following him around like a puppy.”

“And he fell for my charm.” Jungwon smiled widely. He sighed loudly. “Can’t believe it was
centuries ago.”

“It still feels like yesterday.” Heeseung agreed.

The bathroom door opened.

Sunoo smiled when he noticed them. “You are back!”

Jungwon ran to him to steal a kiss.

“Wear my hoodie.” He said right after. He went to his closet to grab his softest hoodie before even
waiting for an answer. “My turn.”

“I have my own clothes, you know.” Sunoo said but he still wore the hoodie Jungwon handed him.

They all knew Sunoo secretly loved wearing their clothes. And they loved it too because when
they got their clothes back, it always smelled like Sunoo.

Jungwon grabbed Sunoo’s hand and gently pulled him to the kitchen.

Jake stole Sunoo from Jungwon and made him sit on his lap. Heeseung and Sunghoon took their
turns to kiss Sunoo patiently. It was almost like a routine of their mornings.

Jake wrapped his arms around Sunoo’s waist and placed his head on his shoulder.

“How was your walk?” Sunoo asked curiously.

“Good.” Jake kissed his neck. “How was your sleep?”

“I slept nice.” Sunoo said. He didn’t seem to notice that all attention was on him. “I don’t think I
saw a nightmare.”

“That’s good.” Sunghoon said with an exaggerated excitement. “Hope you never see them again.”

Sunghoon looked around to see if anyone would bring up the sleepwalking but no one seemed to
want to talk about it.
“Yeah, they are not fun.”

Sunoo leaned on Jake’s chest. He put his hand on top of Jake’s hands and sighed.

Jake only then noticed that Sunoo was wearing fingerless gloves.

“Are you cold?” Jake asked. He wondered if he could manage to make Sunoo talk about the mark.

“Huh? No. Why?” Sunoo asked.

“Nothing.” Jake quickly changed his mind. He felt the ice cold stares coming from Jungwon. He
sent an apologetic smile to the younger but Jungwon continued staring at him.

“Soup is ready. Do you want something else?” Jay turned off the stove.

“No. Thank you hyung.”

“Why miso soup?” Heeseung asked. Since he couldn’t learn anything by himself, he kept asking
questions instead.

“I just love the taste.” Sunoo answered. He got up from Jake’s lap and moved one of the empty
chairs. Jay pushed the soup bowl in front of him. “My mom cooks it a lot.”

“I’m not sure if mine is as good as your mom’s.” Jay mumbled. He looked nervous suddenly.

Sunoo took a sip from the soup and shrieked happily. “It tastes amazing.” He said.

“Better than your mom’s?” Jay grinned.

“She uses instant packs.” Sunoo giggled.

They sat quietly as Sunoo drank the rest of his soup. At some point, Sunoo’s phone buzzed and
they watched him curiously as he texted with someone with one hand.

Sunoo’s smile grew bigger with each message he received.

“What is it?” Jungwon couldn’t help but ask. He was trying hard not to lean over and read the
messages.

“Ah.” Sunoo turned off his phone screen. He looked at them with a huge smile on his face. “They
finally signed the ceasefire agreement with the other pack.”

“So happy to hear that.” Heeseung smiled.

“Yeah.” Sunghoon smiled too. “You must be relieved.”

Sunoo nodded. “I’m just glad my family is safe now.”

An alarm went off.

“Sorry.” Heeseung quickly turned it off. “It’s Sunoo’s alarm.”

“For what?” Jungwon asked.

“For his medicine.” Heeseung got up from his chair and went to the cabinets.

“Did they increase your dosage?” Niki asked worriedly.

Sunoo pouted and nodded quickly. They all knew that he didn’t like to talk about it so they didn’t
push for more answers.
“Here you go.” Heeseung came back with his medicines and a glass of water.

I will tell you later. Heeseung told everyone except Sunoo.

“I really hate these.” Sunoo whined. “They make me so sleepy.”

“What is wrong with naps?” Sunghoon leaned in to brush Sunoo’s hair with his fingers. His hair
was still damp from his shower.

“I feel like I’m wasting so much time sleeping.”

Sunghoon froze.

“Humans need rest.” Jungwon chimed in. “Don’t feel bad about sleeping when you need it.”

Sunghoon gently caressed Sunoo’s cheek before sitting back in his seat. He cleaned his throat and
looked around helplessly.

It was one of the many topics that they all tried to ignore for the moment.

They all knew that they would eventually have to face them, but right now they chose to postpone
it.

“What do you want to do today?” Jake asked, eager to change the topic once again.

“Can we watch a movie?”

Vampires

Sunoo tried not to show it, but it was clear that his pain was unbearable.

After the night they learnt about the curse and it’s morning where they discovered Sunoo started a
new medication, they needed to wait till they were all alone to have a proper talk.

It turned out there wasn’t much to talk about. Even though they knew they needed to talk about the
curse, they decided to postpone it for a little bit longer. So instead, they talked about Sunoo’s
condition.

Heeseung explained to them that Sunoo’s pain medicines stopped working a while ago and there
was no safe dosage nor another medicine that he could use instead. The only working ones that
were the antiarrhythmic ones. There was another medicine that Sunoo used but Heeseung didn’t
know what exactly it was for. It only caused Sunoo to take several naps during the day. At least he
was not in pain while he was sleeping.

When Sunoo’s condition worsened and his pain doubled, his overall condition decreased rapidly.
He was always so tired and out of energy. It was hard to even move around.

It was painful to watch. Really. Knowing that he was suffering and not being able to help in any
way was excruciating.

“We will lose him either way, don’t we?” Jungwon asked one day.

Him and Heeseung were the only ones that were not in their room to watch over sleeping Sunoo
that night. They had decided to take the car and go to the town so they could talk.

Heeseung intertwined their fingers and squeezed his hand.

“If we don’t lose him because of the curse, he will die because of his condition.” Jungwon
continued. He tried to blink the tears away but it was hard to control them when he was finally in a
place he could be fully vulnerable.

Even though he was the second youngest, Jungwon naturally became someone that all of his
boyfriends could rely on. A leader if the label was needed. He was so used to being the strong one
for all of them that he stopped allowing himself to be vulnerable.

Heeseung was the only one he felt like he could be like this without feeling guilty.

“We still have some time until the curse develops further. They won’t send anyone until then.”
Heeseung whispered. He handed Jungwon a napkin from the table.

A waiter quietly approached their table to give them their tea.

Jungwon sniffled and accepted the napkin.

“There is no escape from this anymore, hyung.” Jungwon stared at the tea cup. Tears seemed like
they were not going to stop any time soon. “We will lose him either way. There are no ifs. We will
lose him.

Heeseung had nothing to say. But Jungwon didn’t need to hear anything. He just wanted to vent.

“Before we learnt about the curse.” Jungwon started. He wiped his face and took a sip from his
tea. “I was thinking of turning him into a vampire.”

Heeseung looked at him with widened eyes.

“Don’t tell me you never thought of it before.” Jungwon smiled tastelessly. “It seemed logical. If
he turns into a vampire, he can live healthy. He could be with us forever.”

Heeseung thought about it. A lot actually. He even talked about it with Jake and Niki once. The
idea seemed brilliant back then. And it was. They weren’t sure if Sunoo would even accept the
offer, but it was a plan . A solid one.

Right now, it wasn’t even a possibility anymore.

Heeseung felt his own tea turning cold.

“What are we going to do?” Heeseung asked with a small voice. He hated how helpless he felt that
moment.

“I don’t think we can do the ritual again.” Jungwon said. He removed his hand from Heeseung’s
grip but he put it on his arm instead. He started to lightly tap on the older’s arm. It was a
meaningless act but it felt nice. “But maybe we should try again.”

Heeseung shook his head. “There is no guarantee that he will reincarnate once again. There is also
no guarantee that we can complete it this time. They will be prepared to stop it this time.”

“I fucking hate this.” Jungwon said, wiping his tears aggressively. “So we will just sit and watch?”

“I don’t want to, Jungwon.” Heeseung said. “But-”

“But what?” Jungwon yelled. All of the people inside the cafe turned to look at them. “I know you
remember it, but let me remind you once again. Jay hyung was so depressed that he couldn’t even
move most of the time. Niki too. Sunghoon hyung was almost never in the house because he would
get so affected by our mood. Remember how he was so fucking angry all the time? Jake hyung was
like a ghost. He didn’t even talk to us for nearly 10 years.” Jungwon’s voice got quieter with each
word.

Heeseung could only stare at him helplessly.

“I don’t think they can survive this again.” Jungwon whispered. His eyes were red from all the
crying. “I don’t think I can survive either.”

Heeseung was quiet for a few moments.

He wouldn’t survive it. He knew it. None of them were strong enough.

“If we try again.” Heeseung barely managed to speak. His throat felt like he was closing. “Who
will do it?”

They both knew neither Jake nor Jay would be able to do it again. Even if they wanted to, neither
of them would let them do it anyway.

“I will do it.” Jungwon said. “Niki can’t do it and Sunghoon would-”

“I will do it.” Heeseung cut off. There was no way he would let anyone else do it. Especially
Jungwon.

Even though Jungwon tried to be tough and strong, he had a sensitive and fragile heart. He lived all
of his feelings privately and it sometimes made them think that he didn’t need support as much as
the rest of them. But Heeseung knew better. He also knew that before Jungwon and Sunoo became
lovers, they were best friends. No one else had the kind of bond those two had with each other.
Even after a century of separation and new meetings, they still had it .

He would not let Jungwon do it. Never.

Jungwon physically didn’t protest, but Heeseung could see it in his eyes that he didn’t like the
idea.

“Let hyung handle it.” Heeseung tried to smile. But it was weak.

“Just,” Jungwon reached out to hold his hands once again. “Please just wait a little bit longer.” He
begged. “A little bit more. Please.”

Sunoo
Sunoo knew he was failing on his little “I’m fine.” act.

At first it was relatively easier to hide the pain and the discomfort with smiles but as the time
passed and the exhaustion finally caught up, it was harder to fake smiles. The nightmares and the
visions kept him from getting the rest he needed and with each passing day the pain increased.

He knew what all of it meant. He was also aware of the inevitable end that was waiting for him.

Even though he knew it all since he was a little kid, it didn’t hurt less. Knowledge didn’t really
prepare him for the end he knew was coming. It was scary, lonely and brutal.

Sunoo could feel it. He didn’t have much time left.

Sunoo refused to leave the bed that morning. There was no point. Was there? Why would he waste
his time going to classes when he knew he would not manage to complete this year?

It was stupid.

Sunoo pulled the green blanket he stole from Jay and covered his face with it. He really wanted to
cry right there but he needed to wait till his boyfriends left for their own classes. Just a few more
minutes.

“Sunoo?” He heard Sunghoon call. He felt him sitting on the bed.

Sunoo sometimes hated Sunghoon’s power. Unlike Heeseung, Sunghoon could not “turn off” his
powers. It was impossible to hide his feelings from him.

“I will skip today’s classes.” Sunoo whispered. Tears threatened to fall.

Sunghoon put his hand on his shoulder.

“Can I stay with you?” He asked. “I don’t like the professor.”

A gray lie. Just so he could stay with him.

Sunoo nodded and he felt the edge of the blanket lifted by Sunghoon. Sunghoon got inside the
blanket and covered them fully again. He snuggled closer to Sunoo but he still left some space
between them.

Sunoo heard the door of their room opening and closing a moment later.

Sunghoon reached to caress his cheek. His face was apathetic but Sunoo could see the pain in his
eyes. Sunoo felt guilty.

“It’s not your fault.” Sunghoon said. His hand never left Sunoo’s cheek.

“I’m sorry.” Sunoo whispered. He knew it wasn’t his fault, but he was still the cause of it.

Sunoo wondered if it would be better if he never came here. If he didn’t, the vampires would not
meet him and they wouldn’t have to experience losing someone they love.

Sunoo was happy that he got to experience loving and being loved, but it was a selfish happiness.
His short lived happiness was the cause of life long pain for others.

“What for?” Sunghoon asked. He could feel Sunoo’s feelings, but it was impossible to know the
reasons and meanings behind them.

Sunoo decided to be honest.

“If I didn’t come here you wouldn’t know me, and you wouldn’t have to see me die.”

Sunghoon frowned first, like he was offended by what he heard. He removed his hand from
Sunoo’s cheeks and covered his own face. A second later, Sunoo heard him crying.
“Hyung?” Sunoo sat up worriedly. The blanket fell to the bed.

“You have no idea.” Sunghoon said. His voice came out broken. He covered his eyes with his
arm.

Sunoo helplessly watched as Sunghoon struggled with his breath as he sobbed.

“Hyung-”

“None of us regret meeting you, Sunoo.” Sunghoon said. His eyes were still covered with his arm.
“You have no idea how lucky we were to meet you-”

There was an unsaid word left without a sound hanging in the air.

“I’m sorry.” Sunoo said once again. He rested his head on Sunghoon’s chest and wrapped his arm
on his waist.

They cried together.

It was comforting, in a way. Letting out all the building pain without forcing themselves to stop.

At some point, Sunghoon finally removed his arm from his eyes and hugged Sunoo back.

Sunghoon’s body was as cold as death, but Sunoo found it weirdly comforting.

“I want you to promise me something.” Sunoo said after a while. His voice was hoarse from
crying.

“What is it?” Sunghoon didn’t waste time answering.

“If I ever get… negative. Can you help me not feel like that?”
Sunghoon froze.

“Sunoo-”

“I don’t know how exactly your power works, but if you could help with that I would appreciate
it.” Sunoo said softly. “When I get ‘pessimistic’ it really gets bad, I don’t want my mood to affect
others. And to be honest, for selfish reasons, I don’t want to feel blue for the remaining time.”

“I don’t care how unethical it is. But if it is what you need and want , I will do everything I can to
help you.” Sunhoon said after a long pause.

“Thank you hyung.” Sunoo said. He hugged the vampire tighter.

“I wish I could help with the pain too.” Sunghoon whispered. He sounded like he could start
crying again. “We know you are in pain.”

Sunoo nodded. He knew that already.

“That is what naps are for.” Sunoo said to lighten up the mood. “I can handle it.”

“I wish you didn’t have to handle it.”

Sunoo sighed.

They lied there for the rest of the day. Sunoo took several short naps and they talked about random
topics when he was awake. Sunghoon only left the bed to bring Sunoo some snacks and drinks.
When Sunoo was sleeping, Sunghoon took his sweet time to watch over him. He stared at his face,
trying to memorize every single thing about him.

No paintings or photographs could compare to actually looking at him.

Sunghoon wished he could engrave it to his memory. That way, he could always see him.
And he would exist for him forever.

Then

“Are you fucking serious?” Niki screams. He storms inside the house blinded by fury. “Did you
lock him up?”

“Niki-” Jay tries to approach the younger angel but Niki’s stare freezes him.

“How is this different from what would happen to him if we let them take him?”

It isn’t.

“You lock him there like a fucking dog!” Niki threateningly takes a step towards him. His wings
spread with all his glory.

Jay hears hurried steps running towards them.

“It is not permanent, just until we find a way-”

“What way?” Niki’s voice never lowers. “Unlock him and bring him back here!”

“What is happening?” Heeseung hurriedly runs towards them.

“He locked Sunoo up!” Niki points his finger towards Jay.

“We know.” Sunghoon says. He moves to stand next to Jay and grabs his hand.
“You know?” Niki laughs. He turns to look at every single one of his boyfriends’ eyes. All of them
avert their gazes.

“It is not Sunoo.” Jungwon tries to explain. “Not anymore.”

“He is still in there!”

“But not outside!” Jake screams back. “Until we find a way, we need to keep his body safe and in
here . Niki, do you understand me?” Jake approaches Niki slowly, like he is a wild animal.

Niki’s wings fall down. He doesn’t bother closing them.

Niki allows Jake to embrace him for a hug. He doesn’t hug back, but he knows Jake doesn’t mind.

“I hate this.” Niki whispers only loud enough for Jake to hear. “I couldn’t even say goodbye to
him.”

Jake’s hold tightens. “You don’t need to say goodbye because he is not going anywhere.” Jake
promises, even though he knows it’s a promise he can’t make. “We will get him back.”

“How?” Niki dares to ask. He pulls himself back from Jake’s arms and turns to look at his
boyfriends. “You must have a plan.”

“There is a ritual.” Heeseung says. He quickly walks to their bookshelf and grabs an old looking
black leathered book. He opens it as he walks back to their dining table. He leaves the book open
so everyone can see it. “It is very old and we are not sure if it would even work. But it’s a ritual
about the exorcism of an angel.”

“From an angel or?”

“Normal exorcisms are for removing a demon from a human body, right? This is removing an
angel. It doesn’t specify if it’s from a human but it is all we have.”
“Lucifer is not an angel.” Niki says confusedly. “Not anymore.”

“But he is not exactly a demon either.” Jungwon says. “We will try both.”

“How did you even find this?” Niki carefully picks up the book.

Remove the mark from the body.

“Jungwon and Sunghoon had been searching about it since the day we found out about the mark.”
Jay says. “ When we realized what the mark was for, we thought we could try the exorcism.”

“I hate that word.” Niki says. He puts the book back to the table.

“That is why we are waiting.” Jay says. He carefully places his hand on Niki’s shoulder. When
Niki doesn’t shrug it off, he smiles. “It needs to spread fully before we can do the ritual.”

“But what if more angels come for him?” Niki can’t stop worrying. “Last time we got lucky
because it was a friend of Sunoo. But what about next time?”

“I will kill them If I have to.” Jay says. It is clear in his voice and the fire in his eyes that he means
it. “I swear on it.”

“You can’t.” Jungwon refuses. “You would fall. Or worse.”

“I don’t care.”

“Killing is the last resort.” Sunghoon interrupts. “No one is killing angels.”

“What about after?” Niki asks this time. It seems, like always, he was the only one who was left in
the dark. “What will happen after the ritual?”
A silence follows Niki’s question.

They all look at each other like they are lost in words and Niki knows, in that exact moment, that it
is not a good sign.

“What will happen?” Niki tries really hard to not yell again.

“Niki, you should know that if there was any other way-” Heeseung starts softly but Niki looks at
him terrified.

“He dies?” He asks, voice suddenly so small and vulnerable.

He picks up the book again and reads the pages.

Remove the mark from the body.

Remove the heart.

Repeat the prayer.

Burn it.

“Are you fucking serious?” Niki throws the book. “You are going to kill him? How is this saving
him?”

He looks at them and he can’t believe what he is seeing.

“We have to, Niki-” Jake tries to explain but Niki doesn’t want to hear excuses.
“I can’t believe you.” Niki says, his voice is barely above a whisper. “You said I didn’t have to say
goodbye moments ago. You promised that we will get him back. How could you?”

“He might reincarnate.” Sunghoon says.

“He might ?” Niki mocks. “It is not enough of a reason, hyung.” He spats.

“Do you know what they will do when they get him?” Jungwon raises his voice and grabs Niki’s
arms and turns his body towards him to force eye contact. “Listen carefully. If the angels take
Sunoo hyung, they will lock him up in hell. Forever. Because as long as Sunoo’s body lives,
Lucifer will be trapped inside. There is no better jail that they could put him in. They won’t bother
showing mercy at Sunoo hyung’s soul. His soul and consciousness will remain intact but it will be
locked away. Forever with Lucifer.”

Niki stares at Jungwon with wide eyes as he struggles to keep talking. Jungwon gulps before trying
to blink away his tears.

“He begs. Everytime he gets back his body control, he begs to be killed.”

Niki shakes his head. He refuses to believe it.

“He didn’t. He never-”

“He does.” Jungwon squeezes Niki’s arms to gain his attention back. “You don’t know, because
you are you . He would do anything to avoid seeing you upset.”

“So tell me, Niki.” Jungwon asks. His eyes burn with a fire that Niki can’t figure out yet. “Would
you rather let hyung suffer forever in the worst way possible, or would you rather try to save his
soul?”

There is only one correct answer. Niki knows. Deep down, he knows what needs to be done.

“I will ask Sunoo hyung.” Niki says. He feels Jungwon releasing his grip from his arms. “We will
do what he wants.”
Niki turns to look at every single one of them. He needs to hear it. Their promises.

“Promise me. You will wait till we talk to him.”

How foolish of him to believe them once again when they were all liars.

Sunoo

There was no enlightenment. Or a specific trigger that brought clarity.

There were, however, dreams.

Sunoo remembered every single dream he had since he met the vampires. He was writing them all
out to his notes app (even though he really didn’t need to), recording and analyzing every single
one of it.

They were like puzzle pieces. Hundreds of them were accumulating on the sidelines, waiting for
the final few pieces to be completed.

When Sunoo’s little mind puzzle was complete, it wasn’t really a big surprise. What was news was
that there was now even a bigger, newer puzzle yet to be started.

Sunoo wasn’t stupid, or naive. Even though tried to not overthink things, he was aware of certain
patterns. He was aware of the familiarity, the nostalgia and the deja vu.

It was a normal morning when Sunoo could finally recognize the faceless people in his dreams.

It was Sunghoon who made him finally see everything clearly. Like a veil that was lifted from his
eyes, Sunoo could finally see that the boy he saw in his vision moments ago was Sunghoon from a
different time.

Sunoo tried not to show it on his face, but he was slightly frightened and a little bit angry.

“I remember now.” Sunoo whispered. He knew vampires could hear him anyway.

All the noise disappeared.

“We were together. In the past. The old me and you .”

Sunoo didn’t dare look at them. The silence was scary enough. He could feel the heaviness of the
stares he was receiving.

“I have these visions. I had them for a while. I kept seeing these faceless people. Like watching a
movie scene.” Sunoo stood up. “I know those people were you.”

“Sunoo-”

“I still don’t understand. I think.” Sunoo covered his face with his hands. Suddenly, everything felt
too much at the same time. He felt angry, he felt confused. He felt sad . And he felt stupid. “Just
tell me something.” Sunoo removed his hands to finally look at them.

Sunoo didn’t know what he expected to see, but he was not expecting to see every single one of
them crying.

He quickly averted his gaze to the floor or he would start crying himself too.

“I’m the reincarnation of your old Sunoo . Am I correct?”

Sunoo felt like his heart was being squished under tons of weight as he waited for an answer.
“You are our Sunoo.” He heard Jungwon taking a step towards him. “Then and now.”

“Am I really?” Sunoo laughed. “Are we even the same person? The same soul?”

“Yes.”

“HOW CAN YOU BE SURE?” Sunoo yelled. He would lie if he said he didn’t scare himself with
his frustrated scream. When he finally looked at the vampire that was standing in front of him, face
full of tears, it was only seconds before he started crying too. “Maybe I’m just a vessel that looks
like him. Maybe I’m someone else that uses his body.”

Jungwon startled but it didn’t stop him from taking another step towards him.

“I know. Because I met you.” Jungwon grabbed Sunoo’s hands. A little tight so Sunoo couldn’t
remove them. “And I know, because I saw it.”

“What?” Sunoo whispered.

“I’ve been getting to know you for the past few months. Yes, there are slight differences. Like how
you prefer two spoons of sugar instead of three. Or how you wear your ring to your left hand
instead of the right hand. But it is still you . It is you with the way you smile. It is you with the way
you are always so kind, so empathetic and so generous. It is you with the way you giggle, the way
you talk. That same tone, same speaking patterns. It is you with the way you look at every single
one of us. It is you with the way you hug. It is you with the way you love us. And it is you with the
way you see us .” Jungwon stopped momentarily to wipe Sunoo’s tears. “And I know, because I
saw your soul. Still as bright as before. Still as warm as the sun.”

“Jungwon can see souls.” Jay explained. Taking a step towards him. He was pulling Sunghoon and
Jake with his hands. “All he needs is to touch someone.”

Heeseung hugged him from behind, wrapping his arms on his waist and lightly resting his chin on
his head. He was embracing him.

“How much do you remember?” He asked, quietly and softly.

“I’m not sure.” Sunoo whispered. He suddenly lost all his strength, but Heeseung was there to
support his weak body. “I remember being together. And I remember dying. I think. But I don’t
remember what happened before.”

“Are you serious?” Jake called out. Voice weak but frustrated. “Why are you not angry at me?”

Sunoo weakly smiled at the vampire. “Remember our talk?”

“Sunoo, how can you-”

“You told me back then, it was to protect me from something worse. Right?” Sunoo asked quietly.
He finally let himself fully on Heeseung’s hold.

Jake nodded quickly.

“My answer is still the same.”

“I can’t even look at you without wanting to cry. How can you just forgive me like that?”

“I just do.”

And that was it. Just like that. There wasn’t a why or how.

Sunoo opened his arms, and Jake ran into him.

When Jake’s body collided with his, Sunoo felt Heeseung leaving his place, trusting Jake to
support Sunoo.

Jake wrapped his arms around Sunoo, like he was the one needing support. And he was, in a
different way.
Even though it wasn’t their first hug this lifetime, it felt like it was the first.

“We will explain everything.” Jake whispered, burying his face into his neck. “Everything.”

“I need to tell you all something first.” Sunoo kissed the top of Jake’s head before turning to look at
the rest of his boyfriends. “I’ve been hiding something too.”

Despite his confession, no one seemed to be surprised or curious.

“Is it about the mark?” Sunghoon asked quietly and Sunoo felt his heart drop.

Oh well, maybe Sunoo was in a worse situation than he thought.
