    Define Biome:

    1. A large naturally occurring community of flora and fauna occupying a major habitat.
    2. A biome is a large region of Earth that has a certain climate and certain types of living things.
    Major biomes include tundra, forests, grasslands, and deserts.

    BOLD= Four Main Biomes

     Tundra=
     Extremely cold climate.
     Low biotic diversity.
     Simple vegetation structure.
     Limitation of drainage.
     Short season of growth and reproduction.
     Energy and nutrients in the form of dead organic material.
     Large population oscillations.

    Forest=
    The tropical rainforest biome has four main characteristics: very high annual rainfall, high average
    temperatures, nutrient-poor soil, and high levels of biodiversity (species richness). Rainfall: The word
    “rainforest” implies that these are the some of the world's wettest ecosystems

     Grassland=Vegetation structure that is dominated by grasses.


     Semi-arid climate.
     Rainfall and soils insufficient to support significant tree growth.
     Most common at mid-latitudes and near the interiors of continents.
     Grasslands are often exploited for agricultural use.

     Desert= little rainfall (less than 50 centimeters per year)


     temperatures vary greatly between day and night.

     drought-resistant vegetation.

    Aquatic= The aquatic biome includes saltwater and freshwater. Characteristics of the aquatic biome vary greatly, depending on
    salinity, depth, area, and location. Freshwater areas include surface waters and wetlands. Saltwater marine waters include
    oceans, marshes, estuaries, and coral reef (in oceans)

    How climate change affects each biome:


    Climate is an important environmental influence on ecosystems. Changing climate affects ecosystems in a variety of ways. For
    instance, warming may force species to migrate to higher latitudes or higher elevations where temperatures are more
    conducive to their survival

    Factors=
    Altitude
    Different plants grow at different temperatures within the same biome - the higher the altitude the lower the temperature
    Latitude
    The further you are from the Equator means you receive less solar energy so there's less light What affects briomes, Climate,topography,soil
