Hector was born to a family in a remote village and


was the
second out of five children. His family was
relatively poor and mostly made a
living out of farming and hunting. He had a more
or less ordinary childhood and
has been fascinated by books and stories of
wizards since then. When Hector was 16 years
old, his oldest brother disappeared in the middle of
the night, leaving behind a note etched into the
wall that was written in some incomprehensible (to
Hector) language. This event and his pre-existing
interest in books and magic convinced Hector to
go and study in Nosnarth Institute of The Arcane
in the city of Nosnarth (large city near his village).
Initially due to his lack of money he applied to help
the professors by cleaning their offices, fetching
items for them from the city, washing their clothes
etc. This gave him the opportunity to sneak into
the library and secretly study the arcane. After
some years he managed to finally have enough
money to enrol in the institute. Because of his
previous secret studies, Hector was an excellent
student and was able to finish his first year of
studies as an honourable student. Meanwhile he
was able to find many books about mysterious
disappearances and he started searching the
language found on the note. However, the money
that Hector saved up were not enough, after trying
to plead with his professors and the institution they
told him that if he can not pay for his tuitions he
should leave. Out of desperation Hector stole a
bunch of books from the library and fled out of the
city.

He’s been traveling from town to town looking for


new books and spells and trying to learn as much
as possible. He usually takes one time jobs to
make money when needed and doesn’t like
spending too much time in the same place. He
hasn’t been able to communicate with his family
because he is scared that the Nosnarth institute
might be able to find him. He met the group of
adventurers he is currently with a while back and
